- We got a call from dispatch to assist search and rescue in getting a vehicle out of a bad situation on Hells Revenge Trail. Shawn and I ran out and met search and rescue at the escalator. We stabilized the vehicle with winches so they could get some belongings out of it. After some struggles we got them to sit in the rescue jeep and stay warm while we got the vehicle out of where it was at. After more struggles we got it jump started to find out it was hydrolocked from being on its side. After the customers left with search and rescue we pulled the plugs, cleaned out the engine and drove it to the Trailhead. They were able to come get it later and drive it back home. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

I think this channel should have more of Rory setting ungrateful customers in their place. That was awesome. Thanks !
Yuuuuup
Rory de-escalated the situation with a free tow bill and getting the vehicle to the trailhead. Absolutely a pro gamer move !
I hope that law enforcement met them, coming off the trail.
I hope protective services look out for that childs welfare also !
Always been impressed with Rory's skills, driving, towing, mechanical, but he went above and beyond, dealing with this situation, that got a 2 year old off the trail !
Agreed
Why? He is outspoken enough on his equipment and values.
In cases like this send a lawyer to put the contract up. And that should not be guy who saves your ass!!!!!
But i am not american!!!
Pity where i live your way gets more and more used!
I had a reason not to emigrate.
Now i start to live in a country i did not want to go to.
@@henkoosterhof5947 What exactly are you trying to say? Nothing makes sense!
When that customer sobers up, I hope he watches this video! He was looking for trouble but thanks to you and Shawn his family was properly taken care of and so was his vehicle. The Rescue group did a good job too! Team work!!
I'm surprised the authorities weren't there anyways since the search and rescue was called out. At least where I live you can't notify any response agency and not get a Sheriff, Police, or State Trooper responding to check into the situation.
@@powderriver2424 Squad car might need a little help to get there ;)
@@powderriver2424They were possibly at the initial staging point...where the ambulance would be waiting...not all deputies are driving capable 4x4s. 🤷🏻♂️
@billbillinger2491 At 2:30 you can here search and rescue,
tell the owner that Rory was taking the vehicle back to town
The owner: said absolutely not
Rescue asked the own if he wanted him to call the cops.
So the cops were not there at that time.
@@powderriver2424The authorities wouldn't have been able to do much. Nobody was there to witness the vehicle roll and the woman stated right in the video that she was the one driving. Unless she was drinking also there wouldn't be much the police could do as they can't prove he was driving without witnesses.
The guy is wheeling after dark, while drinking, with a child!?! He is DAMN lucky he didnt go to jail. What a fine parent. Dayum.
The sober female was driving as I interpret the video, but reality might differ.
@@wildonemeister Hmm, I missed that, but seems irresponsible to me nonetheless.
@@wildonemeister some how I doubt she was driving. but she listened to reason when Rory told her off
I totally agree he was a twat, but we don't how long they'd been stuck, and if it was dark when it happened.
I'd have him arrested if I were search and rescue.
I work in Emergency Services(firefighter/Wildlands firefighter) and it always amazes me how hostile SOME people can be when youre helping them.
Definitely had a few interactions with people where I just wanna say "OK GOOD LUCK BYEEEE"
Shock, guilt, fear are powerful emotions especially when intoxicated.
Yes! Stress does not always bring out the best in people!
Thanks for doing a difficult and stressful job!
Hopefully, I will never need you, but if I do...
Ditto been their and wanted to say the same thing...
That would of been me ! After 53 yrs of dealing with ungrateful s.o.b. I'm over rude a hole people. No reason for it . & quit having kids stupid people, that's what wrong with our country . Take warning labels off of shit !!!! If Der der wants to blow dry his / her hair in the bathtub , go for it !!!
You save someone's life when they OD and then they throw up on you and want to fight...
This customer is an absolutely wonderful human being and shows great situational awareness. 😂
😂
Wow
We can do this the right way , or the hard way , settle down or its my choice
Yes indeed gracious and grateful.
Maybe a few too many brews?
Dude should be happy he had Rory to save his ass and Shawn to get his rig out of there. Nice job guys!
Back in my wrecker days I have accidentally unplugged a few distributors to keep a drunk from driving.
Good work. I did that to my mom once too.
Perfect.
“If you don’t calm down, I’m going to lose my shi! I love it
Shawn’s ability to read smoke signals is incredible 😂.
This might be one of your best videos. You never know what those cameras are gonna catch. Totally ripping on the customer and putting it in the video is freaking awesome. Keep speaking your mind and helping people in need, it's the best way to live.
Kind of like Casey La Delle just driving away from that one broken down rig without saying a word.
@@georgevindo, yes, that was an EPIC move on Casey's part...and the guy had it coming x10².
Great job as always guys. One thing, Shawn misinterpreted the smoke signals just a bit. The Yota actually said, please don't let those people near me again!
The smoke said, “Please don’t give him my keys”.
Must have been a translation error.
Shawn is excused. Dark smoke in the night😉.
Smoke signals evidently weren't in Navajo ! 😁
I think he got it right.
We all know, NEVER let the customer drive it out. That's what got them INTO the situation to begin with. Hi Lilly. Be well.
I was never an FJ fan until Shawn was able to translate the smoke signals!
You did better dealing with that customer than I would have. I would have let search and rescue get the wife and kid out and left that ass where he was. Your a good guy Rory.
I don't think search and rescue would allow that to happen.
That look on Rory's face said don't "mess" with me. I never saw that look before. LOL. Saved their lives, no doubt. Great job Team Trail Mater!
Absolutely loved hearing the comments between the search and rescue. Thats a quality individual. Glad all were safe.
The smoke signal comment was funny. Love the quick wit of these guys.
Things are intense, those are the people that ruin it for everyone else, they don't know what they are doing and act as such.
Good video and good advice to the stranded family. Imagine how much a DUI would have cost that sap
Not to mention child endangerment.
@@tomharp9325 and I bet there's something totally not legal in the Silverado the way he wanted those keys for it from the Toyota, awful fishy, suspicious.
People like that are why trails and roads get shut down.
Rory and team are awesome. How this vid has only 9k likes on 57k views is just about criminal. Come on viewers, show Trailmater the love and respect they've earned through hard work; hit that like button.
Sadder part the like to watch ratio is around 10% come on people smash the like button these are good videos that aren't made glamorous like some lame channels that want to point fingers and show how much money they have
Unbelievable by the customer.
Impressive restraint by you.
Some people.
Rory and his crew can fix anything, it's crazy.
Even a bad attitude!
Crossing that line under pressure. Omg. Rory taking charge! Omg! Wish we got to see what got cut, when he talked to this guy to settle him down.
I'm sure it was pleasant. I've had to give a few of them chats over the years.... some of the times some body decided to lay down on the ground. Not a favorable choice to damn much paperwork.
Dude had some issues. Maybe he should not off-road with such low trust level....Must be a lot of fun at parties....Casey LaDelle had a dispatcher giving him crap and he was like "Let me do my F'n job!' I'm sensing a new t-Shirt.
Those are the toughest people recoveries, when an uncooperative driver is involved. |||| Shawn has good retorts / funnies; after someone asked him to interpret the Toyota smoke signals. What a good sport.
Well said, but the signals were misinterpreted.
The FJ was saying, "Sorry about this, my owner is a cunt!"😂
I happen to put my phone down while watching this to drink sum water and pick the phone up to see Rory in green captions talking bout "bat shyt crazy" 🤣😂😂🤣🤣 I had to rewind it and see wat caused Rory who is a very humble patient person make an abrupt correction to these people. Dang they really stepped over his boundaries. Shawn and Mike giggling in the background makes it even funnier 🤣😂😂
Seems that Toyota guy was really belligerent and ungrateful. I heard his wife say that she was driving , I do not believe that for one second. Good job Rory , Mike and Shawn. Its a shame that some people are so unappreciative of your services. Thumbs UP to you guys !👍
I don't believe she was driving either she covered for that looser.
Sean is a a pro at interpreting smoke signals 😂
Before I even watch the Video, please know how happy a Viewer can be just knowing they can Watch Another Video from your Channel.
A Million Thanks 😎👍😇👏
I remember pain in the butt customers when I did recoveries. One night a guy kept telling me how to pull his truck out of the woods, about the third comment I told him Your job is to put the truck in the woods mine is to get it out, Your job is done. Got a chuckle from the cop
Shawn is a great tribute to his people. The art of reading smoke signals is almost forgotten. Shawn new what they meant 😂😂😂
It probably takes a lot of patience to deal with some of the customers... Rory you and Shawn are awesome
Taxi drivers have to put up with this sort of stuff all the time. It takes some skill to get people to settle down sometimes. The most unpredictable are those who are drunk and high.
@@georgevindothere's no way I could be a taxi driver
@@micahhenry4998 Yeah, unless you're a big tough scary looking guy, it certainly develops diplomatic skills in a person.
Rory being politely putting them in their place is awesome!
Now if that had been Casey LaDelle doing that recovery with that happy customer, what colourful video we would have got. LOL
Big thumbs up for keeping your cool makes any job extra hard dealing with person whose brain has shorted out
Be wonderful if they could come back and apologize for their initial lack of judgement we all make mistakes but own up
This is the Rory we expect to see. Great job! Thank you Rory!
I feel bad for that kid who has these two Bozo's as parents. Imagine not only drinking and driving but also doing it on a trail that has little forgiveness for mistakes and with your toddler in the vehicle. Rory, you have the patience of a Buddhist Monk on fire with some of these people dude, my hats off to you good sir.
“If you keep loosing your shit, then I’m going to lose my shit”. Words to live by there. You guys are awesome. Keep it up crew….. ❤❤
Lilly is growing up so fast 🥲🥲
Hats off to your patience and kind demeanor. I am sad to say I would have liked to see it but I do not think he would have enjoyed you "Losing your sh*t" .
Shawn's interpretation was spot on! This video was great. We love you all.
Awesome patience by Rory and the SaR crew on the recovery. I imagine that by the time you were recovering the FJ the customer already had a couple of hours to sober up and he was still not making any good decisions.
I'm sure that we would all love to see the unedited video, but the Trail Mater crew has always shown the highest standards in what they present on video. Part of what makes Trail Mater the best of the best.
I read the smoke signals, "CALL THE COPS"
Customer: drunk and mouthing off.
Search and rescue: We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
Rory: you keep up with your shit, im going to lose my shit.
Sean: smoke signals say send nudes.
PRICELESS....LMAO
I was massively entertained by your perfectly worded "shut the hell up". And you even managed to deescalate the thing too. Impressive. Your a good dude, and a hell of a wheeler. I want to see more of you doing hard core trails in the buggy. I was already a fan, but 24 to hell in back made me appreciate your driving skill in a whole different way.
Shawn is funny 😂
lets walk through the bad decisions made that day. 1 - lets go drinking, 2 - lets get in the truck with our 2 year old child, 3 - lets drive Hells Revenge AT NIGHT when the trails closed, 4 - lets try to fight the Recovery Company and Search and Rescue when they come to help us.
did you finish the night by telling the girl - Make Better Choices in those that you date?
Honestly you guys showed great restraint. dud would have wound up in the hot tub by himself to sober up if i was there.

I wonder how often you get obnoxious customers like that.😅 loved your statement to them.

Heck when I was drunk and did something stupid, (obviously when I was much, much younger) I tended to be very cooperative, not wanting to look even more stupid!
Mike Shawn and Rory are one heck of a recovery crew!
The trailer and rigs is quite the setup Rory. Awesome freakin job 🇺🇲
Glad you shared this recovery. Sometimes a little swearing really gets the point across! Looking forward to March and lots of new adventures with Rory, Mike and Shawn.
Rory is absolutely the best in all tough situations! He can handle both the nice and nasty customers.
We all know who's in charge once Rory steps onto the scene. Cool headed recovery even though we couldn't see the view out the office windshield.
The new trailer will help get the motor pool to the playground!
I like the Smoke Signals and Click Click to Factory Specs. Now the is funny stuff. Nice.
This was fkn aweome. Good job handing that situation fellas. What a guy holy crap.
Hats off to the cool heads of Rory, Shawn and the S&R crew. The energy and self control it took to not put the FJ right back where they found it after the driver opened his mouth was impressive. You guys are great.
I'm so proud of how tactfully you guys (including search & rescue) handled this jackrabbit. You showed much more patience than I could have. Thanks for bringing us along❤
Shawn and the smoke signals lmao. You guys are the best.
Rory’s ultimatum was great.. free or I lose my cool
People react in many different ways when in shock, the female sounded pretty calm when spoken to.
That's what you need to watch out for too. That can be dangerous.
Maybe the female has an abundance of experience?
I've been to Moab several times on vacation and mountain biking. Some of the best people i've meet there are the ones who are always trying to help you have a good and safe time in their little gem of a town. All those guys are out there in the middle of the night freezing their arses off to make sure you and your family are safe and taken care of. They should of called the cops and made that guy spend a night on a rock hard bed while his wife and daughter were safe and taken care off. I love moab, but I respect that hell out of that place - especially if you're in the back country at night. Things will go sideways in a hurry with impaired judgment.
Yes! Which is why I don't have even one drink when off roading or at altitude, unless I am in camp!
At one point she says SHE was driving. Get the guys in khaki uniforms out there to register them both in the steel bar motel and resort and hand the child to CPS, while placing their FJ in impound. Leave it for attorneys to earn their keep. Meanwhile invoice all applicable fees and charges to them.
@@dustymojave she says "SHE" was driving.
You are 100% correct.
What a huge space inside the trailer frame for all the storage. Just add a floor.
Could even build in a complete shop and sleeping compartments for the entire team ;-)
Nice bro, great movie"s. Make 2024 a great year. greeting from holland.
Sometimes, they just don't understand that you are trying to help them. Well done, guys.
As someone who is a volunteer for search and rescue, I know exactly what that's like haha it's frustrating having to tell people we are not law enforcement over and over again.
That's a sign he's intoxicated. And What was with the Keys?
@@kathyparsons2934 I volunteer in a different state, so I wasn't there. I would assume being fixated on something is a side effect of being super drunk.
I always stop the video I'm watching when I get the notification for the new upload. Keep up the awesome work Brosquitos.
Another great rescue, love the way you handled the customer. Sometimes you just gotta let people know who's in charge. Loved the humor, thanks for not cutting it out. And thanks for sharing.
Nothing like dealing with a Drunk ! That trailer is going to be sweet ! Thanks for sharing !
A giant 3 rig hauling trailer eh? Guess who is going to be buying three old project trucks at a time now.
Another successful recovery. Anyone who gets in a situation and calls Rory & Gang has to understand that when you arrive YOU are in charge and not them. Always, and I mean always, great seeing your skillful recoveries 1
Rory’s side eye at the camera 😂😂😂
You’re more patient than me. I would’ve put it back where it was and gone home.
10 for 10 on search and rescue on talking the guy out of making a problem, he handled that nice
I was wondering if you had customers like that. I'm surprised he didn't want to talk to your supervisor. ;)
That side unloading was so cool...
Good night, recovery ! Mike and Shawn, you crack me up! Thanks for sharing!
📣 Team trail mater💚❣️ I know this will be a good one too💥 Your patience is one of your best qualites Rory. Not surprised the child is first and foremost for you. Glad you found a way to keep it chill.
I’d love to see the uncut version.
Mike coined the new shop motto " we can do this the easy way or the hard way" 😅😅😅
I still find it amazing how some people get mad drunk and still survive.
Rory you have the patience of a saint I would have given that a’hole a good slap and left him in the crap hole he was in. Great work from you and the team to handle it the way you did. All the rigs on the long car trailer looks amazing. Keep up the great work and stay safe all of you. Have a great and prosperous 2024.
That FJ you rescued is only 1 of 2,500 ever made by Toyota in 2012, and is one of the most sought after FJs in the world! Thank you!
The guy had to be wasted to take that stock FJ up the escalator! Rory, you handled it perfectly.
10 for the side dismount. Wrecker drivers have a bad reputation. But Rory is one of the angels of towing.
Glad you dealt with that rescue, I'd have turned right around and said good luck dude!
That is one fine Troop Transport Trailer (T3x3) you got yourself there for March hauling duties!!
You guys have way more patience than me. I would have left them there.
Hell Yes ! I was inclined to suggest just leave him there. Keys and all and he can sort his own shit out whenever he wises up. What a pissant. !
@@rayneethling7809 Yup! Call CPS for the 2 year old and leave that idiot right there, and then the next day charge him $1000 to retrieve his rig!
Seems like someone with "trust" issues who could even be a wife abuser, (being as how she said she was driving, possibly to take the heat off him and keep on the better side of him).
Maybe he just simply believes all rescue and emergency services personnel are dishonest car/property thieves.
Rory, you did well not to smack him, with all the attitude he seems like a "bit of work".
I love it when the motor is hydrolocked and you pull the plug and let the oil fly!
Sometimes you just got to put the customer in their place.
AWESOME!
This dude is making me embarrassed to be an FJ owner. You guys are awesome, and handled that so well. I wouldn’t have been able to keep my cool.

Great episode! Way to go Rory, sometimes it take a big voice to get through, you did everyone a favor... A touch of drama to stop the drama. Shawn was Awesome... Taking a two year old out 4x4ing seems to me like a pretty bad decision to put the child in danger. Nice to see all four of you, I mean all three at the shop. Thank you.
Especially a two year old with a drunken, loud mouth parent which caused this problem.
Gotta love the guy running street pressure in his tires, up the escalator, questioning the locals. What a clown.
Dude sounded like a real stand-up guy. You know he was driving too. Way to put your kids in a traumatic situation guy. Great work, Rory!
That smoke signal line had me rollin! 😂
Man, I was hoping S&R was going to call the Sheriff! That would have been neat!
What else did dipstick have stashed in that fj or his other truck that he seemed so concerned about?

Whatever it was, you can bet you butt that it was illegal. I also do not buy it for a minute that the woman was driving. 10 foot tall and bullet-proof. Your typical drunk.
