Beautiful. This lesson was something I see myself struggling to defend although I was not directly confronted with the slavery question yet. Thankfully, we have God-loving servants like brother Sam to share us what we need to know with the guidance and inspiration of the Holy spirit. May he be blessed abundantly. Praise be to the Lord, our God Jesus Christ.

Check out 'Islam Critique' here on RUclips for amazing, more in-depth videos on this topic. He goes in to the Hebrew, and applies fantastic hermeneutics.
Just remember; God loves the stranger. We know God is good and loving. There are difficult passages when you read the English and don't understand the history or the Hebrew culture properly (hermeneutics), thus people read it through the lens of a 21st century Westerner, having 0 understanding of the laws and how things were conducted.
If someone attacks the Bible and doesn't use the Hebrew or hermeneutics to equip their argument, you have to know that they are not intellectually honest, nor have they actually done any worthwhile investigation in to it themselves.
It's almost like people don't realise that English and Hebrew are 2 completely different languages. We have the laws and rules mentioned throughout the Torah, yet people can't seem to acknowledge them in their arguments (the atheist or skeptic).

I see a parallel between what was said and 1 Corinthians 7:12-14. Do not reject a stranger or an unbelieving husband or wife, because... they can be save through you. Just as you were saved from Egypt, so Jesus can save your half... Therefore, love the stranger, wife, husband, as yourself (Mark 12:31), so that the light of God Jesus can shine for them too...

There are over 700,000 words in the average Bible, and they couldn't be bothered to add three more. "Don't own slaves" or "slavery is immoral."

      Exodus 20:2
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”, this is literally the preface of the first commandment. God delivered his people from slavery, and reiterated that he wants them to be FREE. If you actually read all 700,000 worlds (on average) from the Bible you’d know that this is not the only time God affirms that he made man to be free, despite operating in an imperfect world with imperfect fallen people, who naturally would prefer his people to do good but who will patiently work with them despite there mistakes and transgressions and will bring good despite there wickedness and from the evil in the world. Have you read the story or Joseph: from Old Testament not New? He was sold into slavery by his brothers, and God ultimately delivered him from slavery and lead him to be (effectively) leader of Egypt so he could save the Egyptian people from an impending famine and likewise save his brothers and lead them to repentance for the horrible thing they did to there own brother.
God is not trying to hurt you, or anyone. I get life is no cake walk, and neither is faith. But God the father cares about you, Jesus loves you, the Holy Spirit can and will help you. You can trust him

@@harold2 I started to watch this video and it makes me sick to think that this guy thinks we should enslave everyone to stop everyone from sinning because he believes they will be under the control of the master who will stop them from sinning.
Thankfully secular laws prohibit slavery. This guy is going around saying homosexuality is wrong, it's not, it's a form of love. People can't choose who they are attacted to, it's perfectly natural for people being born that way to be attacted to the same sex just as I was born being attacted to the opposite sex. Evolutions perfectly explains this unlike the belief that a good god created people to be attacted to the same sex then he holds it against them for the way he created them. That doesn't make any sense now does it.
The worst is there is no GOOD EVIDENCE to warrant the belief that this god even exists. The time to believe is after sufficient evidence is presented to justify belief, until then the reasonable thing to do is hold off belief.

Right off the bat this guy claims the Bible is God's word. How does he know this? Well because the Bible says so. That's called circular reasoning which is fallacious reasoning. The fact is men wrote the Bible. How about proving the god you believe in actually exists 1st before making unfounded assertions that the Bible is God's word.

Right of the bat you claim God does not exist. How do you know this? Well because YOU never have seen him nor listened to Him. But other people have! And they have written about it!! So!?!? You get the idea right? Testimony means evidence or proof provided by the existence or appearance of something by someone. So it is your testimony vs the testimony of others. Don’t create strawman fallacies where they don’t exist.

Do you want to argue about God’s existence or why he “allows” slavery? Pick one or the other, because if your arguing about why God “allows” slavery than you HAVE to accept that the Bible is where the answer will come from, that’s where your whole complaint is arising and thus you can’t start complaining when the Bible is referenced, or that God exists, since the question is “why does God allow slavery” and not “why does cosmic nothing allow slavery”.
If you want a reason to believe God exists there are more than enough reasons to believe. For one you get 5 good starting points just from looking at the universe from St Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologiea. Or if you want something more, are you familiar with the Eucharistic Miracles? There are actual, recorded, instances of the consecrated hosts and wine from Catholic masses changing into human flesh and blood (as per Jesus’ sermon on the mount about giving his flesh and blood as food and drink, and his sacrifice on the cross and last supper where he instituted it). Multiple were tested and confirmed through scientific analysis that show a consistent blood type AB if I recall, living tissue and blood with DNA that are from the interior of the heart (impossible to get without piercing, think the lance that stabbed him and also unrepeatable in short time to fake, let alone multiple times in the exact same way). And the tissue being “in distress” like someone who was dying (Jesus). And the DNA was always distinct, but unamplifiable (unheard of in forensics, but consistent with Jesus having DNA from Mary and unknown from the Holy Spirit since it was a virgin birth with no human father).
Not believing in God is actually more ludicrous on the face of it than believing in “sky daddy” as atheists commonly mock. You think everything came from nothing, we think everything had to come from something beyond that everything.
Merry Christmas, remember who’s birth that celebrates

@@stephencarlton-jones7119 You say "Do you want to argue about God’s existence or why he “allows” slavery?" Both - Do you have any GOOD EVIDENCE that the god you believe in exists? If you do I will believe you.
As for slavery - the Bible condones slavery because the people who wrote the Bible condoned slavery. If as Christians claim there god is an loving and all knowing god then logically this god would condemn slavery. Yet nowhere in the Bible does it every say anything close to condemning slavery. In fact at best a man named Jesus said you should treat some slaves more kindly. Really, do you think owning people as property for life is moral if you treat them kindly? The only acceptable response Jesus should have said is "DON'T OWN SLAVES".
You say "Pick one or the other, because if your arguing about why God “allows” slavery than you HAVE to accept that the Bible" - Well I go by what the Bible actually says, something not always popular with Christians. It doesn't mean I believe this god exists, it means I understand what the Bible says. Yes, I believe the Bible is just like any other ancient (so called holy books) was written by man and not the inspired word of any god.
That's funny about looking at things you believe is good evidence for the existence of your god. I don't know if you know this, but other religions use the same argument for their god or gods. The thing is science perfectly explains through demonstrable evidence how our universe works except for if or how it started and how life started. As of now we don't know these answers - but that's just it, when we don't know the honest answer is "Don't Know". Anyone can assert that their gods or god did it, but they are doing it without any good evidence.
You say “why does cosmic nothing allow slavery”. Seriously, what a stupid question. The correct question is why did people allow slavery. Well, for Christians it was because the Bible they believe in condones slavery, that's why the Antebellum South used the Bible to defend the immoral practice of slavery. If maybe Jesus and his dad seeing could have seen the evil being done in the name of his book, being a loving god he would have said "DON'T OWN SLAVES". But if Jesus was just a man that couldn't see the future and believed slavery in the Bible, well of course this all makes perfect sense - he wasn't a god nor could he see into the future because he was just a man.
About human sacrifice - well it's immoral. About innocent people being punished for the guilty - again that's immoral. About forgiveness, well we humans shouldn't be able to do something the god of the Bible can't do - That is we can forgive people without the need for a blood sacrifice.
Also, Jesus wasn't a human sacrifice - according to the Bible he was sentenced to death for claiming he was god and was put to death for that reason. That's not a human sacrifice, that's a death sentence for a crime he committed.
I don't believe everything came from nothing, I believe the universe has always existed, just in another form. You believe God made everything from nothing, so you are a hypocrite.

@@atgred I never said that no gods exist including yours, so please don’t strawman me. I asked if you have any GOOD EVIDENCE that your god exists?
Hindu’s, Muslims, Jews, Zoroastrians, and many other religions all have claims to have spoken and listened to their gods and they have written about it. So why don’t you believe them? I mean you should believe them because they have met your standard of evidence of personal testimony-which according to you means evidence or proof provided by the existence or appearance of something or someone.
Do you see the problem here. Every religion uses the exact same type of evidence- which is to say POOR EVIDENCE for their beliefs.
Now I am not saying That No God’s exist. I’m saying that there is no GOOD EVIDENCE to warrant belief that any gods exist. If you can present me just one piece of Good Evidence that your god exists then I will believe you.
Oh, and you are a hypocrite for saying I should accept personal testimony for your religion but then you do the exact same thing when it comes to other religions personal testimony evidence. That’s fallacious reasoning of the double standard. At least I am consistent and don’t accept personal testimony for extraordinary claims.
