As many have said here, absolute driving bliss looks like this. I get comments from EV fans on one of my channels saying I should buy one ‘because it’s faster’. In future I’ll just link this video to explain what driving bliss is about.

Everyone in EU that has been driving manual gearboxes for decades knows you don't have to revmatch to 10k every change lol. US people are so obsessed with heel and toe it is pretty funny :p
just to point out, heel and toe is not always the fastest way for some highspeed corners that carries momentum it is common for people to tap brake in downshift mid-corner and go if you say that will upset your car forget about the heel and toe you can't even proper rev match, so don't judge people's driving style harsh unless you know their logic well behind

Seems to me, on the Misha happiness scale, only the Rimac was as good as this 993.

Misha, thank you for this video, for your words. I own a 964 C2, upgraded the suspension, 8 & 9,5 Cup 1 rims, with Cup 2 tires, bucket seat, covered with the original grey Porsche leather, added the steering Wheel from the 964 Speedster.
Certainly not the fatest car, 274 PS on the dyno, but gives me a smile, everytime i ride it. Pure analog pleasure, good sound, good connection to the road. Just a joy to ride. I felt so connected to your words…….
I'm not a heel&toe'er but a toe/toe'er - so on my GT3, I just put a pedal extension pedal on top of the existing OE throttle pedal and this lines them up perfectly for me - just do it properly with enough screws and bolts so it doesn't back out - it is absolutely the way to go. I use the Rennline Fully Adjustable Pedals

Old cars are quirky. Some may have a weird pedal box layout where its almost impossible to hit the gas with the heel (Corrado/Golf 2), some may have a heavy flywheel, but its what makes them so enjoyable to drive. If they would be perfect it would become to easy and predictable. And that's the thing everybody that drives older cars loves about them, but people who never experienced it will never be able to understand.

nice video, explaining how stuff works on the ring. also noticed that speedometer stucked few seconds at 6:19 and few times later at 140kmh, and once at 180kmh, might get that checked, sure its nothing major. cheers, great content!

The design is both futuristic and old school 911 at the same time, it's difficult to explain but it's a perfect blend in my opinion.

Totally agree with you! Only the driver know how it the car's setting, behavior & dynamic, others just criticizing on paper not even touch the wheel. The main point is "To understand what you are doing on the car". Even if same car with same setting but using different tire, the result can be different too.
Great video and can completely relate to your findings, having just switched from a 991.2 GT3 to a 996 RS (which incidentally was being worked on alongside this 993 at Manthey :)). The involvement of these older cars is second to none, and suddenly you don't care about laptimes anymore, it's all about the enjoyment.
You might not be aware but the 993 brake pedal height is adjustable for position which can make heal and toe much easier. The attachment point on the pedal has an eccentric cam which allows a range of height adjustment.
Legend! Bought an E34 M5 like a real Slav, now is sending it with one of my favorite Porsches ever made. Manthey did another superb job with this car. I wonder when they will do a restomods MR's...

Hi Misha, don't worry about the negative comments. I like what you said Misha, just have fun as long as you don't upset the balance of the car and make mistakes. I believe that there are several unique ways to drive a manual transmission car. People would freak out if they saw how I rev match. My feet can't physically do traditional heal and toe. I brake for a corner, push the clutch in, the engine starts to drop to idle speed, then as I'm transitioning through the apex, I blip the throttle and shift into whatever gear is required for that turn. I may go from 5th to 3rd or fourth to 2nd, whatever! Basically I'm coasting through the apex. This keeps the car stable during this phase. After rev matching with my right foot, I carefully release the clutch and "roll" on the throttle (not mash it) and accelerate smoothly off the apex. In slow, out fast. I like to take a late apex so that I can accelerate fast and smooth with out worrying about drifting so far to the outside of the curve. 👍😀

Hey Misha, you drive the Nürburgring Nordschleife every day. You're an excellent driver and an influence to so many. I fitted my car with a height adjustable gas pedal with heel toe extenders and wow does it make a difference for heel toeing. I would highly recommend.
Never before have I enjoyed watching one of your video, as I did this one. Your enthusiasm and pure love the track and all that it encompasses is shown in this video. I'm lying here in bed, paralyzed and living through your glee with the most appreciative smile. You could not have conveyed your love for the sport and all that it encompasses any better than here. It was actually very helpful to see how to corner smooth and fast without the heel and toe. There are many pedal cams of drivers doing heel and toe, but not many of good drivers who manage without it.

I've loved the 993 since the day I found a Tamiya 993 GT2 model kit at a discount store when I was a kid in the early 2000's. I painted it black with gold on chrome lip BBS.
I bloody love seeing you really drive the 993, too many just stuck in a garage somewhere.
My recommendations for next upgrades: Flywheel, 3,8-4,1 Litres, bigger Valves, in- and outlet optimization. Take a look at the torque developement. I am still using stock camshafts to keep the torque high in mid range. Keep the engine reliable ... means dont look for horsepower higher than 7000. An then, the weight. Endless story.

Been lucky enough to have a 993C2 for 20 years, most of which lapping the Nurburgring. Unfortunately do not get the time to go as much as I want to, but still Love the car every time I go out in it.Its looking a bit tired these days, but still runs as fresh as when I bought it. Just wish I had the money to restore it...maybe one day....meanwhile it stays with me!

For what it's worth, I've never liked Porsches pedal placement for heel toe. I noticed this most recently in the 991.2 GT3. If you tend to roll your foot (like I do) rather than use the actual heel, the brake pedal and throttle pedal are spaced too far apart.

I daily a 2021 Golf R. It's fast as anything on the road.
But my driving car is a 2005 2.7 manual base Boxster with 110k miles on it. But when it comes to driving for enjoyment it wins hands down.

Hey Misha, do it your way & ignore others. As my fellow truckers would confirm having to match revs with the old constant-mesh transmissions was an art that took a while to master but once done became second nature & also very speedy ( faster than a syncro-box ) & no heel & toeing! Whatever suits you best.....is best!

I have some "nice" supercars at home... I tried to convince my father to not buy the 993 and opt for the 991 Touring - we already have a Turbo S after all. But there's something sensational about the feeling of this car on the road and the noise from the door locks is absolutely delicious. Greeting from Portugal !

It's probably an understatement to say you are a better driver than 99% of drivers in the world. It would honestly be interesting to see you compete with an F1 driver in a manual car since they all drive paddle shift cars. You would do well I think.

Older 911’s are slightly weird cars to drive. I’ve gotten so used to it I have trouble driving modern manuals now, so I feel you.
I agree heel and toe can be awkward. I have a 964 right hand drive and it’s not so easy to do compared with some other more modern cars.

only because the heel-toe was brought up...try heal on throttle and toe on brake...911's/floor mounted throttle benefit from that style vs the toe-toe roll
