I can't get enough of these videos, especially when I continue to see the whole spectrum of Evo's doing well in these races against cars that have been glorified so much more or are worth so much more. Makes me proud to be apart of the Evo family!
because they're always broken. races are a glorification of design potential, not real-world use. these cars can go through tens of thousands of dollars carelessly with racing sponsorship and professional mechanic teams. A regular person with one income can't maintain one as easily, which is why they stay cheap. the more expensive cars have more hype because the average person can enjoy them longer without fixing things. especially here in japan where all japanese maintenance and registration is very very expensive on these older cars no matter which one you choose, so people hold onto the ones that are the most reliable. the evo is the least.
Evo is more than great on paper, but in reality, mitsubishi is not very reliable
This race was pretty unfair for almost everyone except the NSX and EVO. Bring a Carrera RS/Turbo and a GTR. A entry level Carrera is not a track car.

+Ashy Gee The only car with decent power in this race to battle evo, is the nsx-s. The skyline have a rb25, not a rb26tt. If the rb26 be in this race, im pretty shure they win jajaja.
Cherok n i dont think the gtr is lacking in power to badly, you obviously know nothing about rb motors with that statement....
It's not a GT-R, it's a GT-T. This is not godzilla, just a souped up version of the Skyline, the engine is a lot less special (RB25DET, not the RB26DETT, so he is right and you're the one who knows nothing about RB motors) and it doesn't have the trick AWD of the skyline (notice they talk about as the FR representative).

Will we get distracted from the fact that the FWD 1.8 Liter Integra Type R is as fast if not faster in corners then the Porsches and the R34 GT-T? It loses only on the straight line, and catches up on the corners, expecialy on the infield section...
At least you acknowledge that it's a GT-T.
The fact that is a 1.8 190hp has nothing to do with the cornering, in fact is the lightest so it help and its very good, The only way to determinate wich is faster is in a time trial. Plus the Carrera was a entry level, not even a S or RS, so is off the race. The NSX and the Evo are really good too.

I think all the Porsches would do better on a track like Suzuka circuit. Porsches are made for the nurburgring with long gears and great high speed stability. I'm pretty sure they are force to be in odd spots in the power band in certain turns either to low in a higher gear"3rd" or to high in the rpms in second with low mph.

That's not the problem. The problem is that those are entry level Carreras. If you saw the other videos the Turbos or Carrera s kill the competence.

@Mr Calcium the Skyline here isn’t a GTR though it’s a GT model which is rwd and fitted with the single turbo RB25 and not the RB26, had it been the GTR it most likely would have beaten the Evo which was the point of my initial comment.
As for the stock Skylines being overweight and underpowered I mean I guess you’re half right, they are heavy (1.5 tonnes or 1500kg) but I wouldn’t call them underpowered, 320bhp and roughly 270 foot pounds of torque isn’t exactly inadequate for 1500kg most of that weight coming from its four wheel drive system.
@@MrSteveo114 Yeah hes saying that its worse than the Porsches, which isn't true. Although its not really a fair competition at that point, 911 turbo vs GTR is much better, I believe the 911 won that though.
those Porsches are very stable in the turns and out ot them. They may have needed different final drives.

To be fair, if there was a 993 Turbo in the race it would have completely destroyed the rest.
That said, it wouldn't have been fair to compare it, but it would have been a great demonstration.

Be nice to see a few mods done to the gtr. Can’t say I’ve ever seen either supra or gtr with mods. Everything else, but them. The two most receptive to tuning. Still great to see any comparo from this era.

Remember that time where Mitsubishi hat a car, that could compete with Porsche. Now there is only Honda NSX and GTR (Toyobmw does not count). I am not japanese, but it's really sad what is happening now. Please bring the good times back.

Take easy people! The BMI is not biased ever! In this race nothing is out of place, let's see:
- Evo: A street car rally (It is said in the video that there is a better version: the RS)
- NSX: It is in its Type-S version, which for performance is an intermediate level, since there are NSX base, Type-S, Type-S Zero and finally Type-R.
- The Integra is a lightweight car with brakes and tires focused on track.
- The Porsches are in their basic versions: Carrera 2
Look at this video below the Porsche 964 Carrera RS of 260 hp swallowing several 280 hp JDM and answer the question:

NSX-R NA1 was made until 1995, so i think they picked the type s to compare with the current cars at the time. Could be a type s zero though, it would be the closest to a type r

@@Jasnman28 watch the other episodes with the NSX-S and R vs RS, GT3, GT2, Turbo.. etc. That entry Carrera is not a track car, if you want a sport Porsche you pickup a RS (3.6/3.8), Turbo or a 968CS. 1st gen Cayenne is also a Porsche, that doesnt make it a Track Suv.. is just a fancy way to go to the market.

But you cant ignore the fact, that this is (or was) a JAPANESE car magazine :) Porsches are really well balanced cars and have a lot potential. But we will never know - if the datsun wasnt there, we could see a honest battle between the evo, nsx and the porsches.
+Scabu It is a japanese magazine, but they are really honest with japanese cars as you can notice on some other videos (suggesting that japanese cars are "too easy to drive" or low on power and comfort and quality). You don't see Top Gear UK praising all the UK Cars and you don't see these men praising the japanese cars without showing it. In this group of racers, 4 of them are huge porsche fans

It's soooo obvious the Skyline was just blocking for the Evo and NSX. It would have been cool to see the NSX and Evo battle it out against the Porches. Too bad the Skyline screwed it all up with the blocking.

I know the evo basically broke during the race and I am a huge nsx fan but come on, evo is about half the price of the nsx, it has 2 extra doors a backseat and a real trunk without mentioning 2 cyl and 1000cc less in the engine.. the lan evo on paper is basically the perfect car, just on paper, in reality....they just break

To drive the Porsches to it's max potential you need to be like the Stig or something,I love JDMs but to down vote the Porsches on this occasion alone is not smart. Porsches haven't really changed its body shape for a reason,that tear drop shape is the best for least wind resistance. Love the skylines and nsxs but Porsches are really something man,with that rear biased weight distribution you gotta know how to tap into it's potential.

Prediction: Japanese cars faster than European cars, because Japanese cars are always faster when filmed in Japan by Japanese.
Well doubt is legit but euro cars have won many times in this series. On the other hand, Tsukuba track actually favors light and low powered sports cars.
Malc180s stop being such an idiot, European cars will never touch Japanese quality and especially when modified, Japanese cars have unmatched speed on the track and cornering.
The Japanese are hugely biased. It's clear to see in virtually any video.

They are fabulously biased in virtually every video they do. It's not a criticism - they're just massively biased towards Japanese cars. And that's fine. I have no idea why you'd pretend they weren't.
