    Customers often ask, Do I really need a harness? Yes! A relay harness is designed to deliver steady voltage to your HID ballasts directly from the car battery. Nobody likes a flickering headlight, so why risk it? Factory headlight outputs are really only designed to power a halogen light bulb, not an HID ballast. The layout of the harness makes it easy to install. With just a few simple connections, even your mom could set this thing up! Wire lengths are long enough to be used in everything from compact cars to SUVs and it's designed to be 100% plug-and-play (no cutting or splicing needed).

    So the relay harness is designed to prevent flickering(anti-flicker),and the warning canceller is for canbus systems(bulb out messages)...and what does a capacitor do?

      @@RetrofitSource Yeah? Then can you post a link here to a video where you actually install the entire installation and all connections? Also, are there any plugs that are not used in this installation or with igniters in the setup?

    My relays flicker like crazy when running my DRLs even with the capacitor. I own a 2017 Toyota Rav4 which uses a single 9012 bulb for DRL, low and high beams. Could the capacitor link be damaged? Is there a way to fix it?
    PS. I bought my elite kit at TheRetrofitSource this week.

      elflecha007 must be a Toyota thing. I had a 06 Corolla S with Altis headlights. Popped off the bumper installed everything. Night came I wanted to go for a ride they looked great. Next day, I start it and all I heard was this insane clicking of those relays on/off on/off. I was just thinking what you were thinking. The Corolla’s drl’s run by cutting the voltage in 1/2 during the day. The low beam is the drl and at night goes to full power. It sounds like that capacitor link would eliminate that or cut power wire to the drl module.

    I installed a HID kit in my Mitsubishi Lancer that came with regular non HID lights. I am having a problem where often time one HID will not turn on. Sometimes its the right one, sometimes the left one, and on rare occasions both of them wont turn on. Sometimes turning the car off and on will fix the issue. Sometimes the fix is to unplug/plug the ballast connector. Will a relay harness fix my problems? Thanks.

    • @RetrofitSource

      Sounds like an igniter or relay harness could be the issue!

    My BMW E39 540i already has xenon lights. Do I still need the relay harness if I upgrade to Morimoto 50w ballast?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  Год назад

      If you're upgrading the ballast, it would be safest to upgrade to the HD relay harness too. Staying at the 35W OEM ballast would not require an HD relay harness.

      the passenger side OEM output just plugs into the pair of resistors he didn't show. Kit comes with 4 blue aluminum resistors (You can see them on the floor in the left of the video, he didn't mention them) and the OEM light plug from the car just plugs into that. I know it doesn't make sense, just plugging the other side of the car into resistors that go nowhere.... but the power comes from the long cable from the relay and plugs into the ballasts for the HID light, The ballast output then goes to the lights. Go to the RetrofitSource website and look up the kit. They have a drawing that makes total sense. www.theretrofitsource.com/mopar-2015-spec-H-15RAM?quantity=1

    Hi bro, I just installed relay harness for my LED low beams. Is this advisable? Will my LED bulbs throw more light?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  4 года назад

      It really depends on the vehicle on if a relay harness is needed or not. However, a relay harness will not make the bulbs brighter.

      These lights had OE halogen lights, so there were no ballasts/HID bulbs in this case. If you've got OEM HID, this upgrade isn't ideal for you really

      I meant my car was OE Halogen. With this ballast it seems that the car's original connectors that go into the passenger side headlight wire would plug into the harness. and do i just tape off the original connectors on the driver's side?
