great video, congrats to trs matt and the trs team! love to see upgrades on already high quality products. i will note i installed a similar morimoto kit into a 2018 ford edge and the relays were 100% mandatory to drive both light bulbs, and the anti-flicker capacitor link also eliminated a very audible hum coming from the headlights. order with confidence, but don't forget these necessary parts!
Nice. Are neutral white LED bulbs available for car headlamps yet? (Around 4,000 to 4,500 Kelvin, ideally) I think those would look nice. I usually have to make my own if I want that colour temperature 😀
Was told Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 will not fit in Spyder housings...working on proving that wrong, but I will NOT call it easy. lol My Ford Ranger is about done....I will have a video I will send to you guys for review. Doing my Driver side blind, will do passenger side with a camera on. Still wish you guys would do a video on Morimoto ModPods and uses. You did say you would. ;)
Have a 08 Saab 9-3. Do you use the stand alone Canbus with the relay harness? What safer for battery and electrical system. Saab has a very sensitive system.
Yes, you would use the canbus + the relay harness. We highly recommend using a relay harness since it pulls power from the battery, versus the OEM wiring.
You will have dashboard light on most Hyundai cars if you use the relay harness because (Maybe) the computer thinks there is only one side headlights works
I have a 2015 SLT GMC Sierra. My headlights and fogs flicker lightly but it drives me crazy. I had it checked out an the mechanic said my battery, alternator and ground wires are good. No one can figure out why and there’s nothing on the Internet on how to fix it. It looks like a LOT of GMC owners have the same issue.. soooo my question is, would these HIDs help stop the flickering because these lights are not cheep but I’ll buy some if it fix’s the flicker.. please reply if u can, thank u.
It sounds like you have aftermarket bulbs? If so you may need a PWM device to correct the electrical flow. Go to our webpage theretrofitsource.com and use the chat function and one of our customer service reps can assist you.
I'm kind of confused. I was told for projectors that halogens can be replaced with led bulbs, but led bulbs do not work well with Hid projectors. So how is it that an Hid bulb can work on this stock halogen projector?? (And I'm talking beam pattern)
HID bulbs work well in halogen projectors generally. LED bulbs do not tend to work as well in HID projectors especially compared to the correct HID setup, It has a lot to do with how they position the light source compared to Halogen and HID.
Is the 35w 5k morimoto brightest and better than the led u guys sell and the 55w gtr lighting 6k? Also would the 55w cause the headlight assembly to melt?
I have an 2017 Elantra SE, and I used to have HID on mine but it shows the "lamp out" light on my dash. Do you recommend to use canbus system or the relay one? Another thing is that on my car, after I installed my older hid system with a relay, used to burn our my right bulb really fast, approximately about two or three month from replacing it.
You would need to go with the standalone CANBUS modules, and we have those on the website: www.theretrofitsource.com/standalone-canbus-H-CANBUS?quantity=1
I was on the website today I was trying to add 55w kit but it would not allow me to add the XB 50 bulbs . Can you fix on the site . I don’t want to buy 35 w bulbs then buy $60 50w bulbs . Can I just do the bulbs in the kit?
Are these quick to warm up? All I had was cheaper ones like 10 years ago and havent messed with his since. They took a bit to warm up, wondering if its changed since.
I put a 9006 5000K 35w morimoto kit on my camaro a few years back and it was a great product. Here it is 7 years later and they still work fine and warm up at a quick rate. About 12 years ago i bought a DDM tuning hid kit for my kia and those things always caused humming on my radio, took about 2 mins to warm up and in no way compared to morimoto. You get what you pay for and morimoto is a great product.

They are still staying around that 5-5500k range, HID is still the best option so far for that super white color.

Some of those cars can be tricky. We do have solutions available if you’re having trouble!
So do i gotta buy another set for the for high beams too?
If you want them to match then yes.
@@RetrofitSource thanks for the response ive got another set for high beams
I'd really like to see a diagram. I'm super confused.
We have some on our website under the product listings!
watching this cause morimoto changed their kelvin rating
Hmm?

@@RetrofitSource ok that makes sense. Thank you!
Does the ballast need to be bolted down to a metal surface? Or just zip tying it anywhere work?
You mount it wherever is best for your needs.
Don’t do it upside down where water can get in. 😊
So would i need the standalone for a 2014 ram 1500 cause it is canbus
Yes, you will need a CANBUS harness for your Ram!
Do you think I’ll need the anti flicker device for a 2015 Tundra?
You should be good without it!
Is the 35w 5k morimoto brightest and better than the led u guys sell and the 55w gtr lighting 6k? Also would the 55w cause the headlight assembly to melt?
Go with 35w, it'll be your safest bet!

Not bad at all for an halogen projector,
Really updates the overall look also.
The Stock HIDs on my 2015 GS350 wasn’t that great either. Maybe the bulbs were old. 🤷♀️
@@iishyxvietxboyii1that’s because it’s degrading more than before u realize 😊
I have a 2018 Ram 3500 with projector headlights, What 35w hid kit do you recommend without a relay harness?
Definitely the GTR Lighting HID kits!
Where did you mount the relays ? 🤔
Mount them in any dry location under the hood.
Are these quick to warm up? All I had was cheaper ones like 10 years ago and havent messed with his since. They took a bit to warm up, wondering if its changed since.
These are very quick to warm up. You'll normally see that on the higher end kits.

@@MrEnignok that was 2 years ago. I bought some like the day after I commented. Lol
On my 2011 Mercedes C class , they turn off and on.... Any idea???
That could be caused by a few things. Shoot us an email, and we can help fix that! Support@TheRetrofitSource.com
Good video, I just sent an email regarding my order. Please let me know when I can expect fulfillment.
We will get back in touch with you ASAP, Thank you for your patience.
I thought HID was not meant to be installed in halogen projectors. I heard the heat scorches the projector bowls.
With a 55w kit you would probably run into this issue but 35w is fine!
I ran 35w kit in 2018 Toyota Highlander for 4 years with no problems what-so-ever even without a relay kit.
