KTM 500exc-f best sounding exhaust. Does it really need to be tuned?

- Most of us that own these bikes have heard at one point or another that you absolutely have to buy an aftermarket ecu to put any other performance part on it. So far I haven't seen a single person test that theory so I wanted to shed some light on the truth about it. Mine runs perfectly with the stock ecu and the FMF factory 4.1. Yes it does need to be tuned if you change the exhaust. Vortex or GET ECU, Exhaust, desmog and reed block delete. I've purchased a brand new KTM 500 2021 and I've gone through every possible setup on the bike but they are 10x more fun when properly modified. The bikes are detuned from the factory to be street legal and environmentally compliant.

Some bikes come with an aftermarket pipe installed as part of a package like the Factory Edition models. My 450SXF-FE came from KTM with the Akrapovic slip on and i really doubt that KTM has an alternate tuning for my bike compared to the base 450sxf.
I would imagine the off-road only lineup comes with a better fueling map than the 50 state legal emissions compliant EXC line does. It is well known that the EXC-F line starting in 2017 is on the lean side with the stock exhaust. Add more flow and it's very, very lean. The 1st gen 12-16 EXC's are a bit of an unknown because almost everyone put a euro map on them and I have never seen a dyno run on one with the stock map.
Hey dude so I just ordered a 23 500 & told my dealer I wanted the fmf 4.1 & they told me it wasn’t available yet for this bike. Im going to do supermoto build. Wht do you think?
It's a little hard to get your hands on exhaust right now I waited months to get mine in. supermoto builds are sick though!
I did it to mine and it back fires like crazy which really isn’t great for the bike the ecu takes away the back fire popping
For some reason some of these bikes do it more than others. I guess I just got lucky with mine because a friend of mine has the same one and it was noticeably weaker stock than mine is
You want a new ecu. I have a 22 500 with a get ecu and custom tune from taco moto and a stock exhaust. I can do 5th gear clutch ups and I am 235lbs.

@@adventureswithkatem just put on my graves muffler with the get ecu. It did throw a code with new pipe because I was running the graves tune on a stock exhaust for 3 weeks. It fuckin rips 4th gear power wheels.
The better part is you have a map switch for slow technical stuff.
My ‘18 does 5th gear clutch ups easy stock and I’m 205
I’m having issues with mine has the get ecu and fmf 4.1 pipe but it won’t clutch up in 4th barley in 3rd my old 13 that was all stock minus some delete would clutch up in 4th lol
What year is your bike I have a 2020 and want to do the same

that's a lot of work just to check a plug. an why did you wipe off the fuel it is running a little rich tho but hey this is just my opinion an everyone has one lol
No joke man. I just wiped off the little bit of water that dripped down it. I had just pressure washed the bike before taking it apart. Go tell some of the ktm/husky groups on Facebook you think its running rich they'll lose their minds like they have been over this video haha

was on backorder for months so I bought it from a guy on Facebook marketplace
Lol, you can eat chicken without cooking it too. But you shouldn’t. Bottom line here is the ecu isn’t designed to run with open exhaust. But it’s your bike not mine.
