    I’m hopefully going to try the Dakar in the next few days. For me the compromise, protection vs bike control and walking, seems right. Happy to see you agree with my conclusions

      Yeah I was watching a lot of these review videos and wondering where the balance between comfort and protection is between the two. So when I got both, and the Dakar was more comfortable to walk in than the reviews were saying, I felt like I needed to make a review video. Thanks!

    The Gaerne Dakar are easily the most comfortable ADV boot I have ever worn.

    Great review, not long and drawn out. I had narrowed my decision down to the Gaerne G Dakar and the Sidi Adventure 2. I like everything about the Sidi but I don’t think it has enough lateral support just above the hinge. It’s design looks like it would be a lot more comfortable to walk in but I don’t plan on doing a lot of walking. My plan is to do a lot more off-road riding than on road.

    I've been using Forma for six years now and still love using it. I'd got a Forma Terra Evo and the other older version, both are walkable and in superb protection .

    I think your review is fair. I have a pair of the Forma Low Adventure boots. The chafing you refer to happened to me as well, but on the front of my leg. Once the boot broke in, though, that stopped. I've been very happy with the boots. I have found them very comfortable to walk in. I ride almost exclusively offroad. We do get off the bikes and hike a little. The waterproofing is great. I've stood in creeks where the toe box was completely submerged and never had a leak. I've even used these boots for snowmobiling, they worked great. From the research I did, I found that the taller boots are not an advantage unless they are a motocross style boot. The top is too floppy to add any real protection and they're just hotter in the warmer weather. I've had these boots for a few years now and I have no complaints. The Gaernes in this video do look like they'd offer more protection. Just my two cents.

    Btw. Good quick to the point review. Please do more of these if you can obtain the products. PS. I a shop offered to order in the Dakar and Fastback to try, no obligation to buy. I bought the fastback because they fitted me better. They fitted, hugged, as opposed to feeling slightly sloppy. And the Darker were actually half a size smaller so it was fit, not size. I’m very happy with the fastback.

    Man thats a great review i appreciate the honesty im looking for anew pair of boots and they look good my only gripe would be that the sole looks a little flat for walking or more importantly if i have to lifg the gs and slip of soft or wet surfaces i was looking at the sidi boots for this reason aswell !

    I would be interested to see how the Dakar compares to the Forma Terra Evo. I Feel like they are more comparable in terms of protection. I run the Gaerne Dakar and really love them for extended road touring with some dirt and gravel forest service roads mixed in FWIW

      Thanks for the quality and to the point review. Very rare to find the exact 2 boots, same color and size that I’m looking for in 1 review😅
      I’ll buy directly from Europe so, even though USA sizes were off, the eu sizes seem to be 44=44

    Thanks for taking the time to compare these two boots. I'm looking at the Gaerne's but was worried about their potential lack of protection. I currently have the Gaerne Fastback enduro boots for dirt riding but may be a tad bulky for touring on my GS. In your opinion, would the Garene's be alright for wearing "full-time", like around town or around camp and setting up camp (squatting, kneeling, collecting firewood, etc). The Forma's definitely seem like they would be due to the flexible sole, basically a heavy duty hiking boot is what it looks like. Thank you.

    • @brokenfixedpictures7638

      Yeah I would definitely recommend these Gaerne's for the type of riding you're describing. I also have enduro boots and cant imagine everyday touring with them on...haha. I've actually wore these Gaerne's all day on some pretty technical rides and never felt like I was under-protected.

    Hi.. your video was very informative. I bought the Gaerne Dakar boots and checking the sole I see it is not really flat. I mean When I put it on a flat surface it wiggles a bit side to side and I believe it is because the sole has to different patterns and the join of those 2 patterns is right in the middle of the sole. Have you noticed that?

    • @brokenfixedpictures7638
      @brokenfixedpictures7638  5 дней назад

      Hey no I cant say I noticed a side to side wiggle of the boot on a flat surface. I think when I used the term "flat" it was in relation to the other Forum boot that had a taller more narrow sole vs. the Gaerne which was flatter and wider.

    Why compare the Gaerne Dakar to the Forma Adventure? A more appropriate comparison, is the Forma Terra Evo. Otherwise, not a fair comparison.

    • @brokenfixedpictures7638
      @brokenfixedpictures7638  4 месяца назад +1

      "appropriate" haha
      I actually bought these 2 pairs of boots for myself in order to determine how much protection I wanted vs. the cost. So this comparison was a real life scenario. This isnt a gear channel making "appropriate" comparison videos that are sponsored by Gaerne.

    I tried the Dakars for a couple of hours but I had to send them back. As they broke in a bit, the lower strap, at the point where you adjust it's length, created this terrible pressure point on the top of my foot. I assumed that with even more break in it would get even worse. Too bad since I liked them a lot. I ended up going for the Gaerne Midlands since I am an asphalt rider anyway.
