- The Chosen One vs Vader's Apprentice. Who wins? This is my first versus video including Galen Marek, but not that last, I have a few more which will include him. This one is a big one. I know a lot of folks will have some strong opinions on this character but let's keep an open mind with a healthy debate.

Starkiller was able to use some force abilities when he was a child, seemingly younger than Anakin
I still think galen would win, having said that, remember anakin had no training and was raised by a single slave, he was stated to be too old by the jedi because most if them train from like 2 years, galen on the other hand had two jedi (we can assume they were at least knights) available to train him, so yeah it isnt really a fair comparison

@@khaoss4024 I'd agree with you except that they deliberately show otherwise, if that's the case then why do the jedi care so much at what age you start training, anakin was only like 7 and he was still too old so clearly you can learn from a young age. Also, notice how galen was able to use telekinesis to grab Vader's lightsaber even at that age? Why is that, anakin never demonstrated that skill with the force at that age, and theres no way it's because galen had more force potential

I agree that Galen would win but the point is, Galen had more force ability at a young age but not too much skill where as Anakin, who was racing pods, a dangerous life threatening game, had a much higher physical ability at a young age with the highest force POTENTIAL.

I believe this is a pretty accurate representation of how their fight would go. Galen was much more level headed and planned things out more where as Anakin was very arrogant.
One problem, one of Anakin's greatest strengths was electrical attacks. I highly doubt he would be defeated by it.

It's a shame, anakin could have become the most powerful/strongest there ever was or will be.

Remember when Anakin literally used the force on the embodiments of the light and dark side. Where he was the chosen one said that nobody could rival him and with the lightsaber he was known to be one of the greatest and if he continued his training he would be the greatest

That's generally the early prime for human males, with decline coming around 26-27, and then being out-of-prime in the early 30s.
Antoine Bandele Interesting, did you get that from any particular source though? Because it seems it would be around late 20s to early 30s. But the young adult range sounds accurate. Although admittedly I may have reached my mental and physical peak at 19 and have been declining ever since lol I might've been gaining more experience/"wisdom" but I'm definitely not as fit or cognitively sharp as I once was...
That's generally how it goes down in any sport (basketball, boxing, football, etc). LeBron James' prime (peak) was 26, but it started at age 20 for him. He's only recently declined slightly and he's 31.

Eduardo You can’t. He is basically a god. He subdued the entities of the light and dark side of the force, which are celestial beings on another level than just lifeforms learning the force. If he didn’t turn to Vader, his skill would of ground at a massive exponential rate.
This was a strong example of "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Anakin as Vader came to know how he limited his ability by putting his talent ahead of practice, and thus chose to force his apprentice to work as hard as he wish he had done himself in his youth. He really trained Galen to become stronger than his young self.

Are you dumb? Literally all that work wouldve been put to waste because of his duel with Obi Wan. He switched his form(or modified it, one of the two) and therefore all of his training wouldve literally been put to waste.
If Anakin worked as hard as he forced Starkiller to, in both saber combat and force abilities, Obi would have had no chance whatsoever, therefore he never wouldve fallen into the lava with his limbs cut off.
Very late reply, but Anakin sure as hell DID work his ass off, he trained extensively to be one of the best lightsaber duelists in the clone wars.

Canadian sport_fan that’s mainly because of how old the movies were. Luke Skywalker was more powerful than Sidious at his best. He was the son of the chosen one. Galen is powerful, but would never be as Luke.

Anakin is physically stronger.
Galen is more durable.
Their other physicals are even.
Anakin is clearly more skilled and Galen is clearly more powerful.
This fight could go either way and is dependent on environmental variables and how the characters utilize their surroundings.

Antoine Bandele Really? I mean I know Anakin has more raw power as the Chosen One but he never fulfilled his potential. Galen conversely has demonstrated far greater feats.
Also Anakin was praised as the greatest Djem So practitioner by Dooku an accolade I'm inclined to believe puts him ahead in skill despite Galen's proficiency in Soresu, Niman, Shien and Juyo.

DiamondTowers Ebalo I don't believe so unless you're referring to the dome feat which occurred when he was amped. I thought his best unamped feats was manipulating a dreadnought, pushing an ATST and knocking down a statue.

Actually Galen used a experimental crystal” Stolen from Vader “ called a impact crystal, this crystal had the ability to shatter through normal lightsaber blocks.
Makes sense , starkiller was raised with no code , no restrictions. anakin did as a jedi b4 vader turn.
I think Galen would win this fight, but imagine Anakin if he never met Padme or Palpatine. They were basically the reasons why he didn’t reach his potential. Anakin would ragdoll everyone if he got to become what he could have.
Starkiller had intense training and athletic skill with saber dueling, mastering multiple styles. His use of the force, especially combined while dueling is insane. Pre-Vader Anakin was faster, but not as yet strong in the force as Darth Vader. I'd say Starkiller. He can combine force lightning/push with light saber attacks, which most don't do.
That's only with Disney cannon. In the EU Anakin had greater force potential which he lost when he turned into Darth Vader
Personally, I think we might need a what-if Anakin to contend with Starkiller, since his novel variant has him strong enough to contend with Revan Reborn pre-split.
the problem I have with Anakin being tipped in lightsaber dueling to starkiller is the fact starkiller in his lightsaber fights was unpredictable because he used unconventional methods from the norm lightsaber techniques orchestrating his force within his saber! as good as Anakin is with the lightsaber he was very very wild and many of times has left himself open for attacks. in the end for me starkiller would win because he used his environment to his advantage and as we know Anakin is susceptible to sneak attacks which starkiller uses numerous times to get the better of people.
Starkiller never won a single duel with Lightsaber skill, he always had to use his force powers to win

The reason galen won against vader was in large part due to both vader's limited range of mouvement AND high sensitivity to force lightning given by his prostetics. However those weaknesses were given to vader by sidious to not be overpowered by him. His right arm most likely didn't had that weakness or at least not in the same level which would ultimately take away from galen his biggest advantage against anakin and result in his defeat against the chosen one.

I will not discuss the outcome, but I dont think the Anakin at the end of Clone Wars (his prime) would die crushed under a tree... He was too open to the dark side. If he was to fall, he would fall swinging in a blind blood rage... Something Im not very sure Starkiller could handle...

I wrote an alternate ending picking up the fight right at that moment where it left off and going forward in a different direction. +Vítor Siqueira At the end of the Clone Wars, Anakin was basically Darth Vader. And in the end of SWTFU 1, Galen managed to beat Vader.
+Lyrekem First, Vader pre-suit is not the same Vader with suit.And at the end of SWTFU Starkiller could also go toe to toe with Sidious (not saying he can beat Palpatine, just put on a fight, as he did before the Emperor showed what is to be THE Dark Lord). So, following that logic, he could be a rival to any dark sider... That is a bold statement...
Bottom line, on my first reply I said I wouldnt discuss the outcome, just the means... I still think Starkiller could beat Vader, but not crushed under a tree, and not with all limbs intact... I think this fight would go down on a clash of light sabers than a showcase of force skills...
But again, thats my point of view.
It is certainly plausible that Anakin could lose. I am not disregarding that possibility. However, I tried to bring to the debate more alternative scenarios where Skywalker could win. My purpose was to ally with the apparent underdog, because from what I see and read, many people think the Chosen One would have no chance. That is why I wrote an ending where Skywalker WINS. I start the fight where the vs video kills Skywalker, but I don't have the tree kill him. See top comments
Vítor Siqueira alright, the tree didn't fall on anakin, yet galen picked it up with his force and slammed it on anakin.
Thing is Anakin had more powers at his disposal than what were listed here. Would've been nice to have them used in this contest.

I don't agree with the final verdict at all. Anakin was just a plain superior dualist. The gap is actually very large in terms of their skills. I have read the novelization, and it mentioned how badly Galan was at saber combat so he had to resort to using force moves to edge out the win against the likes of Shaak Ti, Kota and Brood. All of which who are way weaker than Skywalker.
Anakin was one of the top dualists of that era, only an Amped Mace Windu, Yoda, and Sidious surpassed him in pure combat(Obi Wan managed to survive due to being familiar with his style from countless hours of sparring and Anakin was emotionally hindered as stated in the ROTS novel). Physically, he swings so hard he destroyed the cliff beneath Ventress as a Padawan which is a better feat the Galan will ever be capable of. He was so fast in the novel, that it said when he swung his saber he was incased with a green light and was able to put up a fight with Dooku multiple scenarios. And we all know how good of a dualist Dooku was, and in case no one knows, he was stated to be the greatest in the Jedi order, only surpassed by Yoda. Most of Galan's force moves are simply gameplay mechanics and if we are using the novel feats then he gets slaughtered.
Still a fan of your vids man, but this one I simply cannot agree with.
Alright let us discuss Galen and his dueling skills one by one starting with Kota.
BEGIN CITATION:
[Galen] raised his left hand and with the power of the dark side unleashed a bolt of Sith lightning at the renegade Jedi [Kota].
Kota only laughed. Raising his left hand in a move that was a mirror image of the apprentice's own, he sent the lightning arcing back to its source. The energy struck both of them, hurling them apart.
END CITATION.
So we can see, at least in the Force, they were equal in raw power. But of course, this is one of Marek's earlier duels and we know that throughout the book he gets stronger so we could surmise that he surpassed Kota's abilities by the book's end.
Let's examine further into the fight.
BEGIN CITATION:
Anger made [Galen] eager to attack, but he knew better than to give in to it. He hadn't been humiliated. He had successfully tested Kota's defense. Now that he knew a direct attack would probably fail, he had to find another way to get closer to the man. Or to make the Jedi come to him.
END CITATION.
This indicates how smart of a fighter Galen was. He knew how to dissect someone else's fighting style and strategies, making an extremely skilled duelist.
Let's continue.
BEGIN CITATION:
[Galen] drew his blade close around him, forming a tight defense in deliberate imitation of the Soresu style that Obi-Wan Kenobi had favored. Realizing he couldn't penetrate it, Kota backed off and tried a different style-slow, deliberate, with sudden and devastatingly quick strikes. These, too, the apprentice parried, and when the old man's guard looked to be slipping, he offered strikes of his own.
END CITATION.
And now we see that Galen was good enough to defend against Kota's use of Juyo. Galen had been training with PROXY's avatar of Obi-Wan Kenobi for years, imitating the Soresu style. Another solid feat for Galen's dueling efforts.
Again, let's continue.
BEGIN CITATION:
He caught the general in a choke hold and maintained his grip even though it turned partially back on him. He had been ready for this; his lungs were full. The general, however, clutched at his throat with one hand while barely managing to parry with the other. The apprentice let the first in his lungs fuel his lust for triumph. Even as darkness crowded around the edges of his vision, he sent objects hurtling at Kota's legs and face, battling him on all fronts.
END CITATION.
So we can see, even while being Force choked himself, Galen was able to hurtle objects at Kota, eventually breaking Kota's defenses. This is another good feat for Galen's combative use of Force powers, even while being hindered by his opponent.
And let's look at the final bit of their fight
BEGIN CITATION:
Finally a fragment of smoking debris stuck the general's knees from behind. With a cry of frustration, the flailing Jedi went down, his face purple and eyes bulging. The apprentice relented slightly, letting them both have a little air, but before Kota could scramble to his fee he was on him, pressing down on their locked lightsaber, which sizzled just millimeters from their faces.
Kota strained but couldn't force the red blade away.
END CITATION.
Clearly a decisive win for Galen. Not just because he was younger than Kota but because he was more skilled. And he didn't beat him with Force powers only, he widdled him down as a duelist as he could not penetrate him outright with the Force. First, he softened him up with Force attacks, "testing his defenses." Second, he let Kota come at him with vicious attacks, but he batted each blow away with his proficiency in Soresu. Lastly, he hit him with more Force attacks, eventually bringing him down into a forceful saber lock.
So I'm not sure how one comes to the conclusion that Rahm Kota overpowered Galen or that Galen resorted to Force powers to win.
Galen is highly underrated as a duelist.
I'll continue analysis with his other duels too.
Antoine Bandele lol You speak about Kota as he would be some master of lightsaber combat. He wasn't even second League of the jedi his time when Anakin was absolute top of the order.
***** Nah, I was just warming up with why Starkiller is an extremely competent duelist, starting with the first duel we see him in. I was going to continue with the rest if One Life 2 Live had a rebuttal.

As I said before, if you look closely at the cutscenes or read the FU novelization, then you would see how he was struggling against duelists like Shaak Ti, Maris Brood, or Kota until he began using force moves. If you want to go by he was "weaker" during his dual with Kota, then why did he struggle so badly against the likes of Brood later on, who was simply a fallen Padawan and is virtually feat-less. What I am pointing out is, you're discrediting the fact the Anakin was one of the top duelists in his era, he fully mastered Djem So to the point Dooku himself said he never seen a finer practitioner. What style exactly did Galen fully master? Just compare the notable people they have dueled, Anakin: Obi Wan, Ventress, Count Dooku, Cin Drallig. Galen: General Kota, Shaak Ti, Maris Brood, and a version of Vader weaker than ROTS Anakin. Now tell me who has fought the more powerful opponents.
I fail to see how Starkiller can even be seen as a "competent" duelist when all his battles were won through straight up force attacks. Anakin also has above average showings with the force, like hurling around stone pillars around casually as a Padawan during the Clone Wars and moving so fast he is seen as a blur. Unlike, Galen who has flashy gameplay mechanics to back him up.
Lastly, I don't think you took into consideration Anakin's force rage(if he even needs it here) which would further enhance his physical capabilities to outmatch Starkiller with ease.

To me, it seems a lot simpler; if Anakin can keep close enough to Galen to keep a lightsaber duel going, that's his best shot at destroying him. But Galen, as he does against most foes, will keep his distance whenever possible and punish Anakin every time he lets up even a little, simply with his creativity and quick thinking when it comes to the force, which isn't the same as reflexes. Galen can't take many hard lightsaber strikes and often doesn't have the reflexes to keep up, but he can and does use the force to keep out of harms way and multitasks during defending and evasion.
Gallons reflexes are the best he was conditioned from childhood to be also in all of his fights even against Luke Skywalker he is much faster much much faster so he would also have speed on his side in a duel where anikan is different is his form form 5 us a strength for if he could overpower him and make an opening and then strike he might win but we assume it's an uphill battle for starkiller when it's an uphill battle for anikan

-if you want to know what full potential anakin could have been just look at legends luke. which is able to move black holes, become omni-potent, and a could be equal to abeloth (the stongest being in the universe)

He was able to restrain two celestials (the Son and the Daughter, considered to have godlike force powers) and prove his force dominance over the both of them simultaneously. Keep in mind these two were in the realm of Mortis because they were so powerful that they threatened to imbalance and disrupt the galaxy from their incredible power, and Anakin managed to restrain them with raw force power. That's a way bigger feat than just redirecting a Star Destroyer.
Sure, Galen Marek definitely has the edge as far as application is concerned, but in a straight up force vs. force duel, Anakin would win, due to his superior raw power.

Galen Marek tends to go in cautiously at first, probing for weaknesses. Once he has found one, he hits it hard and spams it until he wins. Against someone like Anakin Skywalker, I feel that Galen would quickly identify that his force wall is lackluster. Even someone like Asajj Ventress has been able to ragdoll Anakin. Thus, I feel that Galen would win by the use of a combination of force powers, for example he might Force Push him into a wall before blasting him with Force Lightning or he might even do something like use his Telekinetic Grip to keep Anakin still just long enough for a Saber Throw to connect. That's just my opinion, I only think the fight would play out long enough for Galen to recognize this weakness and exploit it.

I’m gonna be honest here. I never liked Starkiller as a character. There was absolutely no way he was as powerful as Sidious, not even close. There should be no way he can contend with the likes of Yoda, Mace Windu, and Darth Sidious. I could see Galen being on a similar level to Anakin, but Anakin is far more powerful, can resist force lightning and other electricity-related attacks almost inhumanly, is a very fast and masterful lightsaber duelist, etc. Again, I’ve never thought of Galen’s power level to being anywhere close to canon, even before legends was struck from the official canon. Vader was weak against force lightning, but there isn’t any logical explanation as to why Galen would be that powerful to contend with the best Jedi and Sith of their time, I always thought it was ridiculous to write him that way.

Lets face it, Starkiller was made out to be so powerful with the force and lightsaber combat for the game and its mechanics, yes there was a novel but it was made for the game. Without the game there would be no novel for Starkiller. For me, Galen is a character soley made for a video game and doesn't really fit in the Star Wars Universe. Obi-Wan did not defeat Darth Maul. He killed him do to plot-induced stupidity but he did not defeat him. Obi-Wan did defeat General Grievous somewhat decisively. His mastery of Soresu would take him a long way.

1) I don't think that Starkiller could have managed to detach Anakin's mechanical hand for he would have to penetrate the latter's Force shield.
1.1) Anakin could have picked his lightsaber up with his left hand and blocked the lightning with it.

The analysis is good, however i'm having a hard time believing the exaggerations made in the video games are accurate representations of the Galen at all times. Many of Galen's feats were hardly consistent due to dramatic effect and the story telling of the game(s). I wonder if Anakin was in a similar game and was the main character how much more overpowered he would be in comparison. The games were designed to make the player feel powerful and also able to use various force abilities made popular by the movies so in my opinion much of Galen's versatility and power of the force is misleading. Had he been based in film you would not be surprised to see this change dramatically, and vice versa for anakin being used in more games.
Having said that using anakin's 'chosen one' excuse to call him more powerful may seem like a weak excuse to give him the nod. However the only reason he lost to Obi Wan was due to environmental cicumstances and delusions of grandeur brought on by a large mood swing. His friendship with Obi Wan made him weak in the fight because he was distracted, Anakin (Pre Suite) would have no reason to be distracted by Galen given they would encounter each other randomly and have no true animosity towards each other. Given Galen's rage seems to make him stronger whilst Anakin's seems to make him weaker or more foolish i believe this would give him that 1 percent more chance than Galen to win the fight.
***** All of Galen's feats in this video were taken from the book, not the game. The cutscenes in the video are just a visual representation. In any case, this is a fight between Anakin and Galen, not Pre-suit Vader and Galen.

Id say it is presumptuous that Anakin would drop his saber with the hand that Galen short circuted. Whos to say it wasnt in his other hand? Or that he wouldnt use the force to pull it to his hand like he did the green saber in defence of Obi Wan against Dooku?

By indicating the lightsaber was destroyed, I attempted 2 reinforce just how powerful & deadly an adversary Galen was. It was also intended to creatively demonstrate that the fight was in Starkiller's control, just as the author illustrated. Anakin needed guile, quick thinking, & reflexes to "flip" the momentum of the duel. Skywalker drew upon natural raw ability to break Galen's force wall on his lightsaber.

When you say that Anakin easily blocks the force lightning, I ask "Since when?" We have never once seen Anakin block lightning the way Obi-Wan, Windu, or Yoda could. To the best of my knowledge, Anakin fell victim to it every single time. Maybe I'm just not remembering correctly.

I feel like Anakin got the short end of the stick on this one tbh he has way more experience when it comes to actual lightsaber combat he should have been able to landed more hits then just two and when it comes to tactics and when it comes to force abilities yes Galen was more creative and knew force lighting but Anakin has had plenty of practice against it. Galen was barely a match for Vader and he hated him which could have pushed him to do things he normally wouldn't be able to do. To me It's apparent from your narrative of the battle that you have an extreme bias favoring Galen Marek. This is a fight that would be over as soon as Galen Marek locked sabers with Anakin. I could see this fight looking a lot like the duel where Anakin defeated Count Dooku. It's important to note that Anakin's speed would have him in lightsaber combat quickly. As soon as Anakin were to lock lightsabers with Galen, I believe Anakin would be completely capable of disallowing enough concentration for Galen to utilize any force powers. Then locked in a dance of death, the clock would start ticking for Galen. Anakin's Form V Djem So mastery is just TOO powerful and ridiculously FAST! While Galen would certainly force Anakin to break a sweat there's just NO way Galen would have a chance of winning as soon as lighsabers were locked. So, respectfully, I disagree with you completely...

But no, I do not have a bias for Galen. I truly do think that it is more likely that he could use his ability with the Force to outspar Skywalker. But I am not adverse to your disagreement whatsoever. Thank you for elaborating on why you think Anakin could win. More often then not, people just say "No! Skywalker wins! you're crazy!" . . . I don't often get responses like yours. It's refreshing.

It's my belief that Force powers are going to be a lot less effective if performed under duress because of the impact it would have on their concentration. Then combine the huge raw potential of Anakin's ability to defend against Force powers and you have a perfect natural counter to Galen. Although I truly believe that this is why Anakin cultivated his style in such a fashion due to the fact that he knew that it would be the most effective against other force users. Anakin knew his biggest threat was fellow users of the force (more specifically Sith), therefore the necessity to dedicate more time training for this specific tactic. I'm also happy to hear that my comments are refreshing. Thank you! I certainly wouldn't insult you, yet, there's certainly no harm in a little friendly debate from time to time.
Nunayo BizNas I actually believe the opposite. I believe someone like Galen, who has a lot of Force potential, would have heightened abilities when faced with impending death.
Anakin has shown an oversight in regards to his Force wall (see his duel with Dooku where he's shocked with lightning). But he most certainly would defend with his lightsaber (in regards to lightning). It'd be a bit more difficult to defend against a repulse.
I'm assuming the situation you are referring to is the duel that occurred towards the end of AoTC (episode II). If this is the case then you're basing Anakin's weaknesses on events that occurred prior to reaching his maximum potential. Using this logic I could say that almost everybody is more powerful than Galen since he could be easily dispatched in a vs duel when he was a newborn baby. The only dual that you should focus on is the one that occurred at the beginning of RoTS (episode III) where he easily dispatched Dooku since this is just about the best example of Anakin in his prime. Therefore it's my belief that you've underestimated Anakin's defensive Force capabilities. We may have to just agree to disagree on this one.

Yeah, I don't remember Anakin even at his peak ever being able to practically take on Vader and Palpatine at the same time, then damn near killing them both! Hands down, Starkiller!

One after the other isn’t the same time. Palpatine wasn’t beaten he was faking it. It was made clear in the game and even clearer in the novel.

Galen at one point had him at his mercy, and this was immediately after Starkiller plowed the greatest Jedi killer of all time! However, you're right. After watching it again it was more one after the other than simultaneously. On this one I digress!😁 Still, Anakin couldn't accomplish this feat!
