Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an action-adventure game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. A sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019), it was released on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on April 28, 2023.[1] The game received generally favorable reviews.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor maintains many of the gameplay mechanics from its predecessor with new elements. In lightsaber combat, there are five "fully realized" stances in the game that Cal Kestis can use. The single blade and double blade lightsaber stances return from Fallen Order, while the special dual-wield single blade attack is expanded into its own fully playable lightsaber stance; the dual-wield stance was intended to be a fully playable stance in Fallen Order but Respawn did not have enough time to finish it before release so it was changed to be a special attack. A new, heavier Kylo Ren-style[clarification needed] crossguard lightsaber stance is added that requires more confidence[clarification needed] to use due to longer timing windows in blocking and parrying enemy attacks. The second new stance is the blaster stance which allows the player to use a lightsaber and blaster combo for both close and ranged attacks. These different stances are designed to be used to combat specific types of enemies which Asmussen says will make the player "figure out what the best weapon of choice is".A new Force stasis ability, similar to the one used by Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens, allows the player to freeze enemies and blaster bolts in mid-air.Level designThe level design of Jedi: Survivor features larger, more expansive maps populated with more non-player characters. The design of planets like Koboh have been made more open and expansive compared to Fallen Order. Lead level designer Martin Badowsky said that Respawn wanted Koboh to feature a dense central area with more open outskirts areas as the player explores outwards. In addition, the Mantis landing pads have been moved to a more central location on planets to provide easier access to the various regions on the planet. The planet Koboh has been described as a "home away from home" that the player will revisit throughout the game, and with each revisit, new pathways will open up. Design director Jeff Magers said that "By exploring the worlds, players will both make Cal more their own through customization" and many of the optional areas contain skills, upgrades and perks that will make Cal "more powerful and equipped to take on the challenges ahead". By comparison, revisiting planets like Bogano in Fallen Order was done primarily in service of progressing the plot rather than for encouraging exploration. Exploration is made easier in Survivor with the addition of fast travel at meditation points where the player can be quickly transported to another meditation point on the planet that they have already discovered. However, Respawn wanted to ensure that using fast travel was not necessary to ordinarily traverse the environment or to complete the story. Scattered throughout planets are Jedi Chamber Trials for the player to discover which have been compared to the Shrines from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Jedi Chamber Trials feature puzzles and challenges for the player to complete which provide rewards such as skill points for the player to upgrade their skill tree.
Player cosmetic customization options have been greatly expanded in Survivor over the limited ponchos options in Fallen Order. Survivor allows the player to customize Cal's appearance with entire changes to his outfits. Cal's hairstyles and facial hair are also customizable cosmetic items.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is an action-adventure game developed by LucasArts and part of The Force Unleashed multimedia project. It was initially developed for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 consoles and on iOS, second-generation N-Gage, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and Java-equipped mobile phone handhelds. The game was released in North America on September 16, 2008, in Australia and Southeast Asia on September 17, and in Europe on September 19. LucasArts released downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. An Ultimate Sith Edition of the game, containing both new and previously released downloadable content, was released in November 2009,[3] and later ported to the macOS and Microsoft Windows. An enhanced remaster of the Wii version, developed by Aspyr, was released on Nintendo Switch on April 20, 2022.The project bridges the first two Star Wars trilogies, acting as an origin story for both the united Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Civil War depicted in the original trilogy.

One thing I don't understand about the star destroyer getting pulled down feat. Everyone just takes into account. Size matters not. Is the saying that usually comes to mind. I mean look at what some of the old Sith Lords were doing, if they ever make that cannon again, which I don’t think they will? And if they do, they might nerf that too. But. that’s nothing to what Luke did, from what I hear, he literally made a black hole explode in upon itself. I don’t know, I’d say star killer pulling down the star destroyer is pretty minimal compared to what Luke displayed right there.
And star killer is one of my favorite characters of all time. So I don’t say that lightly.

Even with removing Starkiller's overpowered force abilities (lets just go with nerfing them to more standard power levels), he'd still have a high advantage against Cal due to their respective training.
Cal never got to complete his Padawan training because of Order 66 and the death of his Jedi Master, whereas Galen was trained for most of his life by Vader under some very harsh Sith training methods (even having PROXY frequently attack him with the combat profiles of several Jedi Masters).
While Cal did manage to adapt to the times and grew to become a seasoned survivor, Starkiller was forged into a lethal weapon from day 1 and not even turning towards the Light Side kept Galen from his destructive potential.

But even with Cal’s versatility, his feats don’t even come close to StarKillers, on and off screen.

Honestly? I think the biggest mark in Galen's favor isn't all of his skills, it's that Cal NEVER displays an aptitude for Tutemenis or being able to withstand large voltages, and Galen's go-to maneuver is Force Lightning. He'll use that first, most often, and he is EXCEPTIONALLY skilled with it. Lacking an answer to that, Cal would get wounded or at the very least winded quickly, giving Galen more than enough openings to take advantage with his exceptional speed, force powers or melee repertoire.

He isn't the toughest or the fastest, but always manages to pull through, and makes it look as badass as possible. He's the definition of slow and steady wins the race. And you could argue that he has far more willpower than most very powerful Jedi. Hell his entire rogues gallery is a testiment to that fact. Question: Could ya go into more detail about Vader vs Starkiller? I’ve heard different things between the books and rumor that the third game was supposed to have Vader “not holding back” could ya do a deep dive there? Not asking for a “Vader wins” or “Starkiller OP” video, just an in-depth analysis based on evidence like you’ve done your videos.

Sam Witwer implies that the writers intended for Vader to have toyed with SK in TFU1 and 2 and would dominate SK if he were to seriously fight him - ruclips.net/video/ZYZPusa01NM/видео.html

SK was trained by Darth Vader to be his apprentice and help him defeat the emperor. If you compare the way Vader trainned the Inquisitors and SK there will be a huge difference as he only cared for the latter and was forced to train the former.

    • @Kyle-gu3ge
      @Kyle-gu3ge 8 месяцев назад +1

This. The inquisitors got the minimum training. Starkiller the premium level.

Not to get off topic but the high republic stuff really is a turn off. "Greatest jedi who ever lived" sounds like it came straight from the lamest elementary school fan fiction. Back to topic, I would be disappointed if Cal was made out to be OP by Jedi standards. His is an underdog story through and through while Starkiller's is a story about a monster's redemption or lack thereof.

I think Kal is implied to be a solid Jedi, probably on the level of Kenobi or Qui Gon. Near the council members in power, but not quite. (Kenobi was in because of all the others that died lol)

  • @VenathTehN3RD

Yeah, have to agree on this. There's generally not going to be any real competition comparing Canon and Legend characters unless you're intentionally choosing to pit stronger characters from the former against weaker characters from the latter. Legends power scaling for Force users - while sometimes inconsistent given the sheer number of different writers - tends to dwarf canon SW power scaling in general, whether it was the originals, prequels, or anything from Disney SW. It gets legitimately ridiculous at some points.
