Just try to imagine how powerful Anakin would have become if he wouldn't had turned into Vader.
I mean he was only 23 and was able to face Dooku and Windu...
He would have been so fu**ing BADASS...
Indeed. That is of course the tragedy of Anakin.
How powerful he would become is essentially what legends Luke became, and that was badass.
And sadly, now its the complete opposite in Disney's canon...Luke was about the equivalent to a hobo with a little power in the force
If he had become windu´s padawan and completed his training he would´ve been absolute.
Anakin was already the clone war Kobe via mission rating, killed dooku, and massacred a whole village by the age of 23 so it is obvious he would've been up there with malgus power.
Anakin and Mace probably had the most painful physical deaths in the entire Star Wars saga.
Mace has his hand sliced off, screams in agony while being blasted with force lightning and then gets hurled down several miles from the Chancellor's office to what looks like an endless free fall to his inevitable death.
Anakin has his right arm and both of his legs sliced off, falls to the ground near a river of lava where he suffers third degree burns after his body engulfs into flames
The Space Born except he didn't die? He actually lived through the burns?

My guess is that Windu was already dead by the time he went flying down. That last sound he made was his left breath leaving his body.
Anakin's arrogance would truly be his down fall even his master pointed it out and then his over reliance on tip toeing into the dark side would easily be exploited by Windu's Vaapad

+twinsofsanity I wasn't saying that he doesn't have control and finesse cause he does, but during a fight he presses the attack he is an offensive powerhouse that tries to sweep aside all infront of him, unfortunately for him he couldn't sweep someone like Windu aside. If Anakin had more control of his emotions and was more disciplined then I have no doubt he would have been more powerful then Windu, but then again if he had that control and discipline... He wouldn't have become Darth Vader.

Qui Gonn was a well renowned member of the Jedi, which is, for all intents and purposes, a government agency, which means that they have funding, to some extent, at least. Just going off your example of Mace against Kar Vastor you left out the fact that Mace LOST against Kar Vastor because he simply couldn't keep going from the damage taken. I believe the same would be true in a physical sense concerning Anakin.
+Tyler Staley If you watch the movie again, you'll realize that Qui Gon DID have 20k republic credits. It's simply that they didn't take that as valid currency on Tatooine as it's not a part of the Republic and uses a completely different currency. Just re-watch the scene between Qui Gon and the ship part seller again at around 32:18 in The Phantom Menace and you'll understand.

MostachoPON3 He isn't going to escape because sidious would force grip the exhausted warior. He isn't going to win after just fighting Anakin. Sidious 90% of the time is smarter than him
MostachoPON3 Count Dooku knows force grip and he wouldn't have learned it from the jedi because I believe that was a dark side ability so Sidious probably taught him. Also Mace Windu struggles to face Sidious when in good ahape, after that battle, he wouldn't be that great.
+Metal Sonic Force Grip is neutral ability, like Force Push. Basics are the same, but Jedi wouldn't use it in a way, that is designed for killing. That doesn't mean they can't.

Trust… respect is harder to earn.
He tried for years to gain his respect and trust, but almost nothing was ever good enough for him. Even as Mace seemingly gave that respect and trust to other jedi less skilled and accomplished as him. I think Mace was jealous of Anakin, but at the same time, did have reasonable concerns for Anakins emotional issues. This is why Mace was so hostile towards him and I dont think it really helped make Anakin better and only made him closer to the darkside.

Anakin fought on par and defeated Dooku, someone who was going toe-to-toe with Yoda who went head up against Sidious. Anakin does not get stomp in any way.
so by that logic luminara could contend with sidious. she went toe to toe with ventress who went toe to toe with windu who went toe to toe with sidious. I hold luminara in very high regard but she is no match for palpatine. that logic simply has no weight to it.
Asajj Ventress was clearly stated by Windu to _not_ be her equal. All she managed was to do was be a challenge, nothing more.

I'm so proud of you. I began to fear every single hypothetical fight would end in the bolstering, unruly young Anakin absolutely destroying every Jedi and Sith known to lore. This made me happy deep down.

Yep I think you nailed it again in this one; Anakin vs Mace is such a hard fight to do too, since they're so similar, but you got it right for sure. Mace's superior experience and the unique powers of his personal style would totally give him the edge over Anakin's lacking experience and tunnel vision methods. He's only lived long enough to become a great warrior, but not the artist that Mace is. If Anakin had maybe been 30 he might have pulled it off, but not in this case. On a side note, I'm seriously hoping they bring Mace Windu back in the new movies or anthologies, such great actor and character gone to waste in GL's prequels. I wanna some mushroom cloud laying mother fucker Mace in these movies, with better writing and more interesting direction.
Justin Wallace 30? That's 7 years. I honestly believe Anakin could surpass him in about a year (maybe less) if he just honed his Force abilities more. He would probably be able to ragdoll Mace with just the Force at that point. He's already an amazing duelist. If he had won on Mustafar, he wouldn't have really needed to change his style.

Anakin still has more brute strength and is overall stronger and possibly faster too. Anakin did live long enough to become one of the greatest jedi ever and even beat Count Dooku who is one of the greatest lightsabe duelist ever. No Anakin can pull it off here.
@@jaydenc367 Mace's youth makes it a totally different fight than the one with Dooku. Additionally, Anakin did get some help tiring the Count out before engaging him alone. I still believe Anakin would have won, and that he'd stand a strong chance of beating Windu as well, but the combination of Mace's superior experience and unique Vaapad style, plays into all of Anakin's weaknesses. Mace's ability to redirect the flow energy in battle also applies to his swordsmanship, so he has the edge. Anakin at 30 though, a clear win.

True, but a really aggresive style like what Anakin has could overwhelm Mace. That is a advantage but Anakin is still stronger in the force which gives him the edge.
Sidious is such a genius lol. He knew that deep down anakin wanted to destroy mace, and what better way to do than catch windu whoopin' his (sidious) ass basically. Anakin likely wouldn't have fallen so easily, had it been yoda or obi wan (as if he could disarm sidious lol).
However, this fight wouldn't go so smooth for anakin. He was depicted in the rots novel by windu as being a huge shatter point. Also take into account, anakin kinda don't like windu that much. He'd use his anger to make himself stronger, and amp windu up anyway. Anakin would most certainly make a mistake lol and get owned by windu. The best possible match for windu would be dooku or maul (clone wars). Both maul and dooku have complete control over there negative emotions like rage and revenge etc. Whereas anakin would be consumed by his.
Windu's Vaapad would easily exploit Anakin's Dark side rage. It's what allowed him to go toe to toe with Sidious.

John Heart You literally missed what I just said in the post. Both dooku and maul have complete balance over there rage and don't let it consume them. So no, windu isn't getting much of an amp if at all vs either. Not to mention, before dooku defected, he was regarded as the best swordsman in the order, besides yoda (I think).

Well done. This is your best vs match-up period. It played out exactly how I thought it would.
The more upset and unfocused Anakin got, the more he relied on his anger, the weaker he would be against Mace and Vapaad. MAYBE Anakin wins if he has the wisdom to realize this about Vapaad and calms down and keeps his focus... But almost 100 percent unlikely. Mace vs Obi Wan? Now there's a Jedi Master who's got almost zero dark side emotions for Mace to turn into a feedback loop... I'd be more confident in an Obi Wan victory.
Obi wan is a much better match for mace but even then I doubt he would beat mace. He knows all 7 forms and would be able to defend just as well as kenobi, while kenobi has never been known to be great offensively
@@cameron2900x Mace is actually the one who stated Obi-Wan was THE master of form three, the best the Order has ever known. And as for his offense, watch him beat back Vader in the Kenobi show, he can always fall back on form 4 - his original preference - and is one of the most environmentally aware fighters we’re shown in Star Wars, Sokan being one of his other fallback supplements. Not saying he’d for sure win, and concede that Windus Offensive game is most likely superior, Kenobi is no slouch and is indeed a legendary member of the Jedi.
@@jamesongillen1608 The Kenobi show is generally speaking not a proper representation of either Kenobi nor Vader’s combat technique and was made with the same level of quality as a fan film.
Hypothetical scenario. What do you think would have happened if Mace took Anakin with him to fight Sidious? I actually think Anakin might not have turned to the dark side because Windu actually shows him respect. Also, if Windu fed into Anakin's ego by telling him that he is the Chosen One and that it is time to fulfill his destiny I think Anakin would have totally sided with him.
I think if they treated Anakin with some more respect in general he would have been better off.

I think you covered it and I've said on multiple posts for years that the smile is key. I think more should see this and obviously I'm with you that Sidious was in control of the fight.
On Shatterpoint, another thing important to mention is though Dooku dying in AOTC's would have killed the seperatist movement ,in ROTS it was well beyond Dooku as his death stopped nothing, it was bigger than him at this time. Anakin was the Shatterpoint in ROTS.

I'm sorry, I disagree. Anakin is simply better than Windu in every category except durability in which I argue that they are equals.. He is faster, more skilful, more powerful. Given that Anakin has no specific hinderances unlike going against Obi Wan or Dooku, he should win this 7/10.
The only thing to me that indicates Anakin being better than Mace is his fight with Dooku. But as stated, he was in a zone he never really replicated. I find it more likely for Anakin to get in his own way than for him to be focused against someone like Windu. That's the real deciding factor here. In terms of their technical skills they were on par.
Antoine Bandele Actually, before amping himself Anakin was fighting evenly with Dooku. Him being hindered was specific to various circumstances. Against Dooku, Palpatine urged him to tap into his rage (in the book), and Dooku himself applied Dun Moch halfway during their duel. Against Obi Wan, he felt extremely betrayed that his wife and best friend abandoned him, clouding his judgment and preventing him from fighting at full capacity.
He won't have this problem against Windu, unless the setting was in the Chancellor's office when he wanted Mace to spare Sidious to save his wife. Since versus series battles assume that it takes place in a neutral setting, Anakin takes this handily. And even in such circumstances, it could serve to amplify his performance, widening the already existing skill gap between Anakin and Mace even further. Either way, Mace still could take a few rounds but not for a majority.
+clementex2 also what was stopping dooku from just breaking anikans force wall? was it plot armor or what? here's the real reason sidious told dooku to hold back it was apart of his plan but sidious tricked dooku and let anikan kill him. also dooku was fighting anikan and obiewan and was beating both of them in the beginning kicking anikan away and using the force take obiewan out of the fight after all of that he got tired but if he was fighting anikan alone and wasn't holding back he would have surely beat anikan.
+Manny Gober Yes, Sidious told Dooku to hold back but after Obi Wan and Anakin switched their fighting styles Dooku was forced to take the fight seriously.
Dooku didn't penetrate Anakin's force wall simply because he couldn't. Anakin's strength in the force was comparable to his own. At no point was Dooku beating both Obi Wan and Anakin, he beat Obi Wan because Dooku >> Obi Wan in force abilities. Dooku kicking Anakin was nothing compared to Anakin raining blows like a lightning haze that expended Dooku's reserves and tired him out, and that was before his amp.

Great video! I loved your analysis of Anakin. I feel like he is very underrated in the versus community. Many people lowball him because of his defeat against Obi Wan. And I agree that the fight would be extremely close. Lol to all the Windu fanboys in the comment section who believe he would "stomp" Anakin. They will gush about his fight against Sidious and completely disregard his shortcomings throughout the comics/books. Keep up the great work!

Or maybe Darth Vader and Luke vs. Galen Marek and his dad (Sorry, honestly can't remember his name lol)/Vader and Starkiller vs. Palpatine and Maul. Might be a fun thing to think of how different scenarios would play out with a team. [:

Anakin's arrogance would have been his only weakness against Windu. Other than that, Anakin was faster and far more powerful than Windu.
Maybe he was more powerfull than Mace, but not enough to overcome Mace quickly. As stated in the video, the fight would go on and on and here Mace has a definitive advantage. He is just a lot more focused and controlled, he wouldn't exhaust himself as much as Anakin would and make fewer mistakes. And in along fight, that would just win out...
@Up Anakin was more powerful than Obi Wan, but he still lost that battle. Speed and power doesn't always constitute a win.

I agree, Dooku's saber form is meant entirely for combatting lightsaber users (Makashi). The grace was meant to counter aggressive sith, almost better than Vaapad. And then there's the lightning...

The fight between my favorite and your character, very awesome man. I think the only thing that you didn't leave in in that what if fight in the context of the film is the possibility that if that fight did take place it is all completely possible that Mace Windu might at least try to reason with the young Sith, but have to admit that the 6/10 verdict is quite close and would have to inevitably agree with you in that Anakin would fall.

The count dooku part was when he enter into a state of rage. Force rage did increase force powers and dooku was already exhausted from trying to undermine the defences of obi wan and anakin.

Dooku obviously have to fight for his life realizing they are not amateurs anymore. If you cant break down obi wan saber guard, use the force. Dooku have to match Anakin strength for strength depleting his reserves. He is not recovering but depleting, Anakin strength is monstrous. He is capable of snapping necks and punching through torsos

I'd give the win to Mace. Obi-Wan can hold out, especially with his Soresu Mastery (Even Windu stated Obi-Wan was the definitive Form 3 Master of the Jedi Order). However, Form 7 was the only lightsaber style capable of overwhelming Soresu's defences. Combine that with Mace's Shatterpoint ability and general nuance using the Force in combat; he could, eventually, break Obi-Wan down and end the fight.
You really put some work into this. I'm glad that you used those points from Nick Gillard, and sources you don't normally use. There is only so much that can be collected from the EU novels, and in all honesty those are only second-hand sources. Also I'm glad that you didn't treat Anakin like some joke of a fight, I feel like he is under-estimated far to often.

But realistically, I think of it this way: anakin is as in flux with his power as he is with his emotions. Basically, when his mind is clear and focused, he's a death machine. He was very powerful at times. Destroying entire armies while running at breakneck speeds and not receiving a scratch. In one book, the clones weren't able to even find a target because anakin destroyed them so blindingly fast. Mace was shown to face an army in CW solo and got pretty beat up. Anakin has moved larger stuff in the comics than we've even seen yoda do. He only lost to obi wan because his emotions were so much in flux and confused. He just got done loosing everything. And while obi wan had anakin to blame, anakin was confused about blaming the jedi and himself. And the one person he did everything for "betrayed him" because his best friend "turned her against him." I'd say the odds were in obi wans favor emotionally. Against mace, they both seem to have pent up aggression towards eachother and both love the republic. This would be the greatest battle ever seen. Very equal. Very powerful. However, while mace has vapaad, anakin seems to have considerably higher resilience and strength. I think vapaad would only work for so long, as anakin isn't as dark side influenced as sidious (which was the one time mace was able to able to fully utilize the vapaad current due to sidious dark side strength) anakin is very much a 75% light side jedi who made bad choices. Even as vader (as seen in lords of the sith novel) he had great compassion. So obviously very light oriented. He craved power to help others, not himself. So vapaad wouldn't quite have the same effect even if ani raged out. I believe windu would really be burdened by skywalkers brute strength, both in combat and in the force. Sometimes brute force really can overpower precision. And anakin is a brute with the force. He collapsed a large building (I don't quite remember what kind) with a mere shout of rage (from the novel 'labyrinth of evil' I believe). While I don't doubt maces skills, people overestimate the title of "master" as it's not base on skill but more of who is masterful as a whole (emotions, saber, force, wisdom, etc). Not everyone on the council were amazing in a fight. Anakin was simply not granted master because of his emotional state and brashness. So that doesn't mean he couldn't easily beat a master in single combat. Kenobi said in aotc "if you practiced your saber combat as much as your wit you'd rival master yoda as a swordman." In the anakin and obi wan comics, he way outclassed his peers and had to fight a combat droid. He even modified it to be harder. He stood up to dooku for a good while, and when he actually switched his saber combat practice to utilize a duel style, he began beating dooku nearly every time until his eventual death. Not to mention I'm sure he knew how vapaad worked to a degree. Even if not, I still feel like anakin would start to gain the upper hand as time went on due to brute force just as he did with dooku and even taxed kenobis stamina(something he and his style were known not to have problems with). So I'd say 7/10 in skywalkers favor. Ok I've rambled enough lol

I don't think their differences in power and skill are very far apart, they're near equals in my opinion, I think Anakin may be faster, more naturally skilled and probably even more raw force power, but Mace does have a lot of experience on him and not just general experience, but hard combat experience and tactics, he's more of a warrior than Yoda (not to say Yoda isn't a warrior or a lesser one than Mace, but as in mentality, upbringing and lifestyle...warrior is a debatable title for Jedi, but we'll roll with it) but not lacking in wisdom either, Anakin is a true prodigy, there's no doubting that, but he never had the calm and collected mentality of a Jedi, in a time of war, Anakin is the most valuable asset the Jedi could wish for, he is a true warrior through and through and his instincts, natural talent and aptitude are surpassed by none, but the overwhelming skll and power as well as a straight forward approach akin to the 501st is not always preferable to the calm and tactical approach akin to the 212th, see what I mean? That doesn't mean Mace wins just because of that, but he's almost like a middle ground to Yoda and Anakin, not as wise as Yoda, but not as tenacious or ferocious as Anakin.
As everyone seems to point out, Anakin's severe arrogance can sometimes be his downfall, though he's is entitled to that arrogance, I'm not taking that away from him (though it's not the way of the Jedi, etc. etc.)
I think at the end of the day, my analysis is:
Mace is wiser, more experienced, more tactical, has Vapaad (which as a style doesn't give an inherent advantage or disadvantage to Djem So) which can channel power from Anakin's dark emotions, which is always present (sorrow, arrogance, anger etc.) and Shatterpoint, which is not an instant win, but gives a needed edge.
Anakin is arguably stronger, faster, more powerful in the force (probably, but not by a huge margin), more durable and has more stamina/endurance, as well as a sight skill advantage (I believe)
Perhaps I'm giving Anakin the benefit of the doubt here with these accolades, but he is stated in the RotS novel to be the strongest, fastest, most skilled etc. etc. Jedi of his time or perhaps any time, though I believe this is a slight overstatement or hyperbole, it still has a level of truth and merit. As well he's said by Nick Gillard to be a tier 9 lightsaber duelist, which puts him above Dooku, Grievous, Obi-Wan and Mace and basically everyone of his era except Yoda and Sidious, I also think this a bit of an overhype or overstatement, but it's technically canon to Lucas himself, so it should at least be taken with a grain of salt, but I personally find him being in a whole tier above Dooku, Grievous, Obi-Wan and Mace a bit of a highball.
My personal opinion is almost always experience > power, so I would choose Mace personally, but I think it'd be a very close fight and he'd be the underdog having to rise up, though I think Anakin could also take it 4.5/10 times.
I say this is an extremely 50/50 fight. All depends on whether Anakin keeps a cool head or not. Anakin is Mace's equal as a duelist plus stronger in the Force. But, Mace has much more experience and training and knows how to find weaknesses.

I am sorry Fin should have been slammed aside without a single bit of effort from Kylo, and the same for Rey. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever that either of them could even hold out for fifteen seconds against a partially trained warrior. Shit Fin got his ass handed to him by a Stormtrooper the first time he used the lightsaber and yet he is supposed to be able to hold of Kylo Ren? Shit why didn't he just use the Force to crush Fin we know he can, we have seen him do it to others. And I understand that they had to do that for the story to continue but I would have prefered if they left off with say Kylo wounding Fin and being forced to retreat from Chewie using the Millennium Falcon's turrets. As for me personally Kylo isn't intimidating at all any more, he is just a weakling who got beaten by two amateur fighters, one not even being a force sensitive.

Holy sh8t! This match literally had me on the edge of my seat! While I reluctantly agree I do think that they should have had no edge for dueling. In the rots video game Anakin managed to break through Windu's guard. Granted force abilities were negated but in terms of dueling Anakin in that fight did the equivalent of a Randy Orton rko. If Anakin were the slightly superior duelist do you think he might have actually won?

I am a bit but I also think Mace wins because he is smart like Obi-Wan not like Anakin who fights with unrelenting force, just trying to beat his enemy into submission.. Yes he can out maneuver some opponents like Dooku and droids.. But I don't think in a fight with Mace could he out maneuver him. Anakin would fight with rage because he has always had anger towards Mace and plus in the fight you put them in he would be angry because Mace is trying to kill the man that can teach Anakin how to save his wife. So Anakin would go in being angry, getting some good hits, putting up a great fight.. But in the end Mace will have more self control and use his skill in combat actually thinking about what he is doing not blindly slashing at his enemy.. and with that Mace will find a weak point in Anakin's attack and get a killing blow..
I'll leave you with that (as a showcase of the flaws of transitive property) Dooku > Obi > Anakin > Dooku > etc. . .

Fantastic video. I agree with the verdict, although I think Mace gets it 7/10 at least (very close matches though). The next Avatar match up will be epic! Talking about Avatar match ups, I think it's a really good accomplishment that Aang VS Korra is your most viewed video, surpassing any Star Wars video. Unfortunately I have to beg the differ. In my opinion Windu's weakness that pushes him over the edge is his shatter point. He was unable to see his own weakness and Anakin's weakness as he prepared to kill Palpatine. I would also argue that the Windu we see in the 2003 series was a but exaggerated. I think it's close, maybe even a draw. But I think that Anakin should win. Great video as always. Would love to hear your thoughts.
As stated, I agree the 2003 Mace, and everyone in that show, is exaggerated. But in a one-on-one fight, Mace has some significant advantages over Anakin _on a consistent basis_.

Kao Cen Darach matched a Malgus way out of his prime+Vindican (Who has no feats or hype), only to lose to an enraged Malgus. (You could argue Darach was somewhat tired though).

I think it’s honestly a toss-up, but like Dooku, if Windu were to piss Anakin off, there’d be no stopping him, and he would gain his raged ability, which would put Windu on his back foot, giving Anakin a chance to pierce his defense like he did with Dooku, but not quite the same way (although it would be with a blade).

Anakin Skywalker Until Vader compensated for his weaknesses and actually became more deadly. Adding the refinement of Makashi to his Djem So skills, and he was by far the most deadly Jedi Hunter ever.
I remember talking to a fellow Star Wars fan a few years back. At one point in our conversation, he implied that Mace Windu, in his opinion, was more powerful than Yoda for being able to beat Sidious in a duel when Yoda could not. I told him that was an interesting speculation, but I didn't agree with him. And now I say this to Antoine. Congratulations on creating what I believe to be your best versus video ever. I really love how the fight at the end was a what-if scenario, and as a writer, it left me wondering what would happen next after Mace had killed Anakin. And again, I would say this is your best versus video yet. :)

I love your videos, Bro! Well done as always! I agree mace would take him due to his ability to practice Vaapad and would be able to tap into Anakin's inherent dark side tendencies and more powerful force usage buuuut! I think Anakin is capable of taking Mace if he wasnt so arrogant and offensive. Mace had a mental edge, taking his time and fluidly striking (in his fight with Palpatine) where Anakin was pure offense and speed. Experience can beat talent nearly every time
