Its hard for me to choose sometimes. Sabat's voice fits Vegeta more but Brian's performance is more in line with Vegeta's prideful attitude, especially in the earlier days of DBZ. Late DBZ and DB Super makes more sense with Sabat's voice.
Sabat Voice: Confident Saiyan-Dad Vegeta
Drummond: Angry, psychotic and panicking Vegeta
I disagree, most people think that because they associate Drummond's Vegeta more with evil Vegeta, but his later voice fits perfect as well when Vegeta was good in late DBZ.
ruclips.net/video/_X2XbdwgcY0/видео.html
Nigga Sabat wins hands down. Not even close
Couldn’t of said it better myself
Literally just saying this because you heard saban first
Ive always imagined Brian's voice as a younger Vegeta and Chris's as an older more experienced Vegeta.
Yep, whiny nepotism teenager vs bitter rage filled veteran.
Brian did show up in DBS, a nice debut as Copy Vegeta.
Wow someone put into words what I always thought as kid when they changed over Vegeta voice, Hearing Brian to Chris take on Vegeta was form watching Vegeta's grown in maturity. And I'm glad they give Brian a chance to voice the Clone Vegeta in Super, kinda wish they did that with Goku Black's voice having the old Goku voice do him.
This is what I always thought too and I think toonami switching from ocean dub to funimation dub part of the way through namek had something to do with it. I always thought Drummond did great as a Vegeta who felt more like a scavenger and scrapper in the first two main arcs. Then Sabat does great as Vegeta after he gets to earth starts to settle down a bit more, and actively tries to better himself and get stronger.
Agreed, both are great, I love the youthful energy Brian gives the earlier arced Vegeta but I love how Sabat gives him this regal cadence that works really well. And Bryan's cameo in Super was an absolute treat.
Despite not being a perfect translation, the line “I sent myself into a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie” really nails down his feelings at that moment. Love it.
Ong that line goes so damn hard 🔥
fr i wouldn't blame him for being insanely furious after learning that his sacrifice meant jack-shit
That was in the og funi dub with sabat too, idk why they used kai when the og funi dub had the same script
What lie was he talking about?
@@AlexanderTheGreat91 Goku pretending to be his equal during their fight. Vegeta learned about SS3 while he was dead, and realized Goku could have crushed him at any point in their fight if he'd really wanted to.
Brian's voice and dialogue would fit Baby Vegeta really well
Was gonna say, sounds like baby vegeta 😅
Once the anime comes back around, I think he should recast as Zombie Gas, or Old Gas (Rapid Age). I think his voice would fit those two specific versions
@@Tri-Beam you want them to hire him to speak less than a handful of lines?
@@andrewsigler7437 Wait does gas not talk often? I read the manga and I remember him speaking, albeit not a lot, at least until he starts fighting. I’m like 80% sure that the anime is gonna add dialogue to him. Also I highly doubt their gonna hire Drummond, but it was just a thought
@@Tri-Beam you specified Zombie/Old Gas which was only around for half a chapter or so. If you just meant that he'd be especially good at those sections but that he'd be a good fit for the character in general, then yeah, that could work.
That "sayian prince will not fall again!" just hits
Chris nails tone and speeches
Brian nails emotion and attitude
Both offer something soooo good
if they fuse it would be good+
cant there be ONE video like this without people refusing to choose between the two?
@@zarrowthehorse can you go have some fun
Ngl Brian sounds better even though I like chris. after Brian, hearing Chris sounds flat even though he's good
no
“The Sayain Prince will not fall again!” … nuff said
Yeah man. That line and the way Brian Drummond delivered it is cold AF!
Right? Who wants to fuck with that guy?
Dude, "the Saiyan Pince will not fall again!!!!" goes so fucken hard
Both of these are insanely good but "I sent myself to a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie" is such a hard ass line
*THE SAIYAN PRINCE WILL NOT FALL AGAIN*
Th original funimatipn Dub had the same line with Sabat, which I think is the best version. For voices at least
@@jamesmichael7448right, the clip here is from Kai which is fine but why not the original version?
Can we get each of them to do the others lines and see how it sounds?
That line was the reality though. He was angry when he found out Majin Buu survived his Final Explosion.
Drummond is just a madman. Ocean had some very talented actors, it’s just a shame they were let down with such a cheap & terribly rushed production schedule
You know the real reason Funimation dumped Ocean right? Union workers. Funimation is based out of Texas. They didn't want to give the people voicing the characters any sort of taste of the DBZ money, so they dropped Ocean as soon as they could so they could have Sabat do like 15 characters, and Sean do like 7 others.
@@Jdpoz yeah funi is legit cancer. unfortunately they have sole control over English dubbing for most anime. I've always said Ian Corlett and Brian Drummond are much better Goku and Vegeta's
@@KmanZAG
Sorry, but the late Kirby Morrow beats IJC.
@SteveCrafts2k oh dont get me wrong, kirby morrow was amazing, i like both pretty equally tbh. Most of ocean dubs main voices anhilate funis
@@KmanZAGand I will always say Sean and Chris better goku and Vegeta
Brian was the only saving grace for the ocean dub of DBZ, but Chris is just too iconic as Vegeta just like Vegeta's Japanese VA. Can't imagine Vegeta without hearing Chris or Vegeta Japanese VA
Im the opposite cause im in my 30s ocean dub all the way
Peter Kelamis was absolutely awesome as Goku in my opinion too. His performance in the Ocean DBZ movies cannot be discounted. Note his work in World's Strongest especially.
Scott McNeil was a great Piccolo
As much as some people mock it for sounding like Sonic, I _adore_ Brian's Vegito voice. Two main reason. 1) Considering that, at the time, the Potara fusion was intended to be permanent (defusing inside Buu being regarded as a strange anomaly), I hate the double-voice for Vegito. Single voice makes more sense. 2) Brian's Vegito voice manages to sound like both Goku (the actor Ocean had for him in this arc, anyway) and Vegeta at the same time, due to Brian basically doing an imitation of Goku's VA.
All of vegetas most iconic lines are done by Drummond tho. I'm 30+ so I was there for the switch and grew to accept sabat as the older version but in my soul I always wished for the original ocean dub team to have finished
“I sent myself into a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie. The saiyan prince will not fall again” the Ocean dub writers were in there cooking and Brian ate those lines up. That’s one of the absolute coldest moments in dub anime history
In an old Animerica interview with Brian Drummond, he summed it up perfectly when asked about what he thought of Chris Sabat. He said Sabat sounds more regal while he sounds more psychotic. Both are great Vegetas
Lol! Brian's does sound more unhinged while Chris can pull off the family man Vegeta.
@marksneddonDude calm down lol, it's not that big of a deal.
@marksneddon kirby wasn't the best ocean goku, that goes to peter kelamis
Brian Drummond voice sounds like baby from Dragon Ball GT
yeah after hearing it again it really does sound that awful
brian drummond does the best screams in all of dbz, no one comes close.
I agree with this. The only one close is Scott McNeil doing wild ass Piccolo screams.
@@justinfoster5995 THIS
Hell yeah. I loved his scream when he powered up to fight Recoom ( which rhymes with doom ). 😆
I mean there’s a reason that Drummond's Vegeta rage scream during the Namek saga is so damn iconic.
lmao what? get out from under that rock and listen to Sean Schemmel. trash take
Chris's voice fits more with an older Vegeta I feel, but the emotion in Brian's voice there is undeniably Vegeta.
Pretty cool how they both fit the character so well!
True, but Chris nailed it on the original funimation dub of the Majin Buu saga. The Dragon Ball Kai re-dub of Chris’ performance feels silly, forced, and lack any emotion.
ruclips.net/video/ApBEysgRGzk/видео.htmlsi=DFh5Db9oAOdjJDDI
@MrSamPhoenix Honesty I don't agree he sounds like he puts more emotion into the voice in kai compared to the original funimation but the funimation still pretty great
Agree both fit so well, I prefer older vegeta as a character though but yeah, love both and neither get enough credit.
brian’s voice sound cheesy asf
Brian tapped into the “you won’t escape MY WRATH!” Range.
For me Brian's voice is perfect for Vegeta up to the end of the Frieza saga. From the android saga onwards Chris's voice fits him more as he has matured more as a character.
Nailed it. It feels like they're close enough that one kinda evolved into another
I never got this take, since Ryo from the original dub didn't have to change his voice much and it still fits the later moments.
Can't agree more
Yeah its that shift from villian to anti-hero that made each voice fit differently.
@@night-seeker666 Exactly, these people are idiots. Ryo's voice still matched Vegeta.
Sabat is Vegeta voice, but Brain sounds raw and truly in line with Vegeta's soul.
"I sent myself into a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie" is one of the hardest lines ever written.
This is a hard scene to compare because "I sent myself into a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie. The Saiyan Prince will not fall again!" Is actually just a better line.
Should grab the clip of Sabat doing that to compare
There is a clip of Sabat saying that but it is very flat in comparison. I chose the Kai dub because I felt like it was the only version of this scene that could contend with Drummond’s performance here
ruclips.net/video/wOXyGXWQXUE/видео.html
here it is for the record
@@Konan43316It seems like you've already decided which voice and clip is better then. No need to ask us. lol
That was my personal opinion. I just like hearing different opinions
@@Konan43316 then you should've included it, like the guy said.
I prefer Chris’s voice, it just fits the character a lot better, but Brian’s performance was way better here.
I agree with this 100%. That is exactly what I was thinking. But I was also thinking that Chris’s performance here was amazing too and it really came down to personal preference
Chris is our Vegeta. His voice his so much better than Brian's.
@@chelsearunyan Ryo is better than both
Pretty much this. Same with his rage scenes in early DBZ
Comparing Chris with fucking Kai is a bad comparison since Kai in the buy arc had to completely change lines and the dubbing was awful compared to the original Z buu arc god I hate youtube recommendations fuck the buu arc in kai z buu arc is where its at
Me hearing Sabat: "Vegeta seems pretty upset"
Me hearing Brian: "Jesus Christ he's pissed"
OOF that growl in Brian Drummond's voice is like a metal performance. Awesome!
Brian's voice is so wicked. He sounds so evil, I love it
It's raw as fuck, so good
i didnt even know Drummond did dubbed lines for the Buu Saga
the ocean dub was still around throughout the Buu saga but only in UK
@@gamemaster2192and Canada
Yeah sadly I only saw it up to when goku arrived to namek. Then funimation moving forward
Brians voice seems way more intense and really captures that angry emotion briliantly i can picture chris coming in later for an older vageta that has calmed down and mellowed out but he still has that shredded calmed out raspy voice from all those years of screaming shredding his vocal coards.
But drumond nails the early angry vageta and sabat seems like a fit for a calmed down mature vageta that isn't so intense anymore.
"The Saiyan Prince will not fall again!" Is a great line.
"I fight for my own pride, and the honor of the whole Saiyan Race!" is also a banger line.
“The saiyan price will not fall again” is a line that hits hard and his scream is impeccable but Sabats voice is just iconic.
Prices are up...😉😊😂
I'll look at the price for meat and talk like vegeta..I cant afford this shiiii.😫 how can i gain muscle mass if i cant afford to eat...😂😂
@@xboxhater87 thats why he needed a suger mommy
the price per saiyan has more than tripled since Majin Biden got into office
@@FatalLayersOfficial 😆😆 well that's why the unions are backing voice actors because corporations keep robbing the workers..sry..good try though..thats another reason why there's about to be a gaming industry strike Lil guy
I still love that they got Brian back to voice the clone of Vegeta in DBS. Yea, it was for like 2 episodes, but it was fantastic to hear the two play off each other. It actually FELT like the current and good Vegeta was facing off with his evil past, finally putting it to rest for good.
Both did such a wonderful job with the character.
Brian Drummond straight up sounds like Baby Vegeta.
Whichever one did the "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!" line that became a timeless meme. That one wins.
Then that would go to Brain
@@THEdudeproductions Chris did it too, he just doesn't yell it like that, lol.
@@SliferStreaming Yeah that's why I automatically just picked Brian for that one lmao
Brian's Vegeta always sends chills down my spine because it just feels so real whenever he speaks especially about pride
In the original Saiyan arc Brian had the voice on lock and did it better. But as Vegeta’s character developed Chris’ voice to me fit perfectly. Brian’s version had more of a sinister and menacing tone that fit his villain style. Chris’ had a little more human emotion and dramatic tone while still maintaining that edge.
I disagree, Drummond's Vegeta in buu saga fit him just as well when Vegeta was good.
ruclips.net/video/7Hm1R7CREp4/видео.html
@@Aztecatl7 It’s popular opinion, but what matters is your own, so we can agree to disagree 🤙🏼
I agree with this one.💯
@@Aztecatl7 Precisely, Drummon's voice always fit Vegeta perfectly. Glad to see someone having a good ear for actual talent.
@FunKsterMrJ Nah, he fit Saiyan and Namek Saga Vegeta these best, not the saga's after.
Sabat's voice peaked during the Bruce Faulconer dub of the Majin Saga. Brian Drummond peaked during the Saiyan & early Namek Saga
I still will always love Brian's delivery of the line: "I don't need this stinkin' planet I just use my Galeck Gun to blow the whole thing up!" Followed by maniacal laughter.
0:20 he nailed that scream of madness
the raw emotion and the actual speech itself is just better in the first clip
Chris Sabat saying ‘pride of a prince’ was the best moment
Chris is top and iconic but for me, Brian nailed the true essence of Vegetas pride. His monologues always give me shivers.
Chris hands down owns the role in every way
Agreed, but Chris nailed it on the original funimation dub of the Majin Buu saga. The Dragon Ball Kai re-dub of Chris’ performance feels silly, forced, and lack any emotion.
ruclips.net/video/ULp-2xVau84/видео.htmlsi=L4SVSbEGH8inu9X8
I like how Vegeta is written more usually when Chris performs him and I think he does a good job at delivering them.
But the energy Brian brings to playing Vegeta is really something special, even if his unhinged vibe fits best with Vegeta in his younger years.
Vegeta looks like sonic frontiers😂😂😂
Brian makes vegeta sound like he got controlled by baby while Sabat makes him sound more like DBS Vegeta
To me Brians voice captures the young vegeta, Sabats captures the more evolved vegeta while still maintaining the moments of anger or pride as needed. Vegeta may have become a much better person and has the best character growth probably in all of anime ...but he's still Vegeta and that's why we love him 💯
Both are amazing and big parts of my childhood, definitely have a soft spot for Brian since he was the first voice of Vegeta I ever got to hear as a kid
if we would have had Sabat speaking Drummonds dialog.*chefs kiss*
I'm going with my boy Brian, he can elevate his voice making Vegeta sound more intense with power ups and anger
The emotion in Brian's voice combined with the better dialogue makes me say Brian. The cold oblivion and doing it on a lie was great dialogue. In the other version, there's way less emotion and the dialogue is very standard. Thanks for posting.
Brian Drummond all the way, however Chris’ voice in the Kai dub is also top notch. It’s honestly hard for any longtime DBZ fan to pick.
I'LL GET YOU! YOU WON'T ESCAPE! MY WRATH!!!
Drummond was on another level.
When I started watching DBZ, Brian was Vegeta. And he’ll always be.
Crazy people are still talking about this lol. I met Brian yesterday at an expo. Cool guy. Got his autograph. Told him I respected/appreciated his role in Vegeta because I grew up with the original Vegeta
Nice man. I wish I had a chance to meet him.
That is awesome I’ll be meeting him end of April., he will always be my favorite. Vegeta. What is he charging for autos this year ?
I honestly think it depends on the art. Like when vegeta and Napa attack earth, that art style lends to Brian way more, but as the characters get more muscley and wider then sabots voice fits better. I love them both. Brian decently outclasses sabot in some regards and the opposite is true as well.
The original airing is the best way to watch.
Ocean dub ep 1-53
Funi dub ep 54-276
Ocean Dub Vegeta was my first introduction to the character while Funi dub was basically my childhood going forward.. they each hold a special place none is better.
When I was younger I had no idea that they changed the voice actors, and I always assumed that Brian's voice was the younger and meaner Vegeta and Chris was just the older Vegeta taking form.
Brian for young vegeta before the cell saga and Chris for cell saga and later
I just feel like Brian nails young vegeta while Chris rounds it out as vegeta matures.
Drummond's line, Sabat's voice.
Brian Dummond nails it. He just seems to understand what's on the line, so-to-speak, while Chris Sabat just basically screams "I'M A VOICE ACTOOOOOOR!!".
Nailed it.
Brian Drummond was my introduction to Vegeta. I love his gravely hiss. The boiling rage. There's real hate in that voice.
We need Lanipator to do the official dubs from now on.
Agree, call me crazy but I prefer Lani over both of them. Also feel that the dialogue written for DBZA feels a better fit for the type of character he is. 🤷♀️
LOL his vegeta is horrible sounds like he's constipated
Other than the voices, I'm over here going "no more pride Vegeta, you're actually gonna get bodied."
As much as I love Drummond’s voice, I feel it really only fits with Saiyan saga Vegeta.
I think Brian nailed the Vegeta rage better in basically every instance where Vegeta is raging out. When he flies up to do the Gallick Gun, when he realizes Gohan stole his Dragonball, etc.
The first DBZ dub I saw was the ocean dub so hearing Drummond's Vegeta again is pretty nostalgic but I have to say, Sabat just delivers the line with so much more emotion.
I met Chris Sabat once. He has a great sense of humor and chill demeanor. I prefer his voice for the official release. However, I really enjoyed the Dragon Ball Z Abridged voice over. He really captures Vegeta's arrogance and pride. 4/4 Stars!
DBZA Is our official Vegeta voice.
Nick Landis
Vegeta nooooo
Vegeta yes
But they didnt ask about DBZA and TFS.
I lost all respect for Sabat when he joined in on the "fire Vic Mignogna" bandwagon
Sabats showcases a "confused yet set in his ways" style of Vegeta while simultaneously switching to a "good hearted trying some new" style of Vegeta
Bro is already dead saying he'll fight to his last breath
I really like both. I prefer the writing from the Ocean dub, but in terms of voiceover acting, both stellar performances. I’m happy that both exist tbh 👌
Honestly, Brian gave me chills. Wow.
Brian Drummond all day, every day and twice on a Sunday.
Dude holy shit you can hear how psycho Vegeta is in the first clip. The raw primal hate in his voice is undeniable. Thats the kind of performance that makes you fear for the hero every time they take a punch.
That time in Namak when he realized Gohan took his dragon ball.
YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE MY WRAAAATTTHHH!!!!
I literally backed the fuck off from the TV. LMAO
God, the RAGE in Brian's voice, the fury and malice really inspires fear.
You know, I grew up with Chris, so I watched this video thinking I wouldn't like Brian's rendition. But dang did he nail it, and it sounds like he really tried to remain faithful to Chris's characterization with the slight accent. Literally sounds like a younger Sabat. This comparison was cool to see, I didn't even know there was another DBZ dub!
Drummond for the win every time. His voice is just that much more emotional and raw
I love Brian Drummonds Scream it's more powerful but it changes the tone of his voice when scream. It becomes deep compared to his talking voice
But Chris Sabat's version voice was more consistent even when he screams or sings. It sounds like that he's vegeta and that's his natural voice but with Brian dummond when he starts screaming loud it changes the tone and you starting to hear his real voice or any other character in his voice but his scream was more powerful but the problem is consistency
Brian sounds like he was just come down from helium
Chris for me. Brian sounds like a Frieza henchmen. Imagine that voice saying "lord Frieza, the Saiyan's are plotting an attack!"
I prefer sabats voice, but Brian's performance was just down right perfection
Brian 10/10 young Vegeta
Chris old Vegeta.
Sabats voice is just so regal and Vegeta is a prince full of pride so it fits a bit better
Brian sounds like how i remember Baby Vegeta sounding.
All of you saying Chris' performance are saying out of pure nostalgia, Drummond nailed the voice, the emotion, the lines. Everything SCREAMED Vegeta.
How would it be nostalgia if the clip of Chris Sabat's performance was from a dub in the '10s? His voice is drastically different from the original dub.
@@WolfXGamerfulThats what happens due to smoking for many years. Chris is known to have been a big time smoking cigarettes and then he quit smoking. Its made his voice different in comparison to his earlier voicing of Vegeta in the original version after he took over for Brian Drummond after the Ginyu Saga ended. I do feel Drummond should take over for Vegeta in the future if Sabat ever felt like he needed to cut down on the number of characters hes voicing in DB series. It would be the best thing if Chris decided to semi-retire much like Linda Young did before she fully relinquished Frieza's role to her successor. Linda Young was voicing Fasha as well back then along with Fortune Teller Baba. But she's more iconic as Frieza though.
Drummond voice in this seen is so cringe 😂
Not nostalgia cause Drummond's voice is probably the first a lot of people heard (was the first I heard).
And I don't think Chris is "better" but he's been doing it for so long now he is what most think when they think Vegeta.
Pretty sure Sabat's clip is from Kai, making the Drummond choice the nostalgic one here lol
Let's just say Drummond was the best earlier in the series and Sabat's best moments were later in the series.
I mean Sabat is the man, but when Vegeta rages? Drummond freaking kills it
Brian sounds more like what imagine Vegeta would sound if he were realistic
Chris is really good as an older, wiser, protective hero but still ego having vegeta, but to me Brian makes a cockier, younger, reckless vegeta voice. To me Brian just puts so much effort into every part.
But neither of them will live up to the greatest Vegeta voice actor.. the one who did the Big Green dub. So epic and humble this man was, that he didn't even want to take credit for his work.
Brian's voice for Vegeta is good but sounds like it would fit better for a younger version of Vegeta in his early teen years and just sounds more evil. Chris's voice for Vegeta fits more well. He sounds more mature, and sounds like he has more grit and pride when he speaks. Overall Chris Sabat's voice for Vegeta will always be the win 👌🏼🔥
Drummond's lines and emotions are so intense i love it.
It’s simple, people. Brian needs to become our new favorite metal singer 🤨
Bro fr
Brian nailed this scene and it ain't even close, that line "I sent myself into a cold oblivion and I did it on a lie" with Brian's delivery is absolutely outstanding.
It just feels like there’s more flavor in Chris’s voice
Brian's voice was perfect for tiny Vegeta in the beginning. It's a shame Vegeta didn't stay that small. He was cool.
Chris' voice sounds so worn out, that he barely even sounds like Vegeta anymore
Well if I'm not wrong he was also doing super at the time man with the amount of times he has to scream in that I'm pretty sure he was just saving his voice
Yeah, I haven't been a fan of Chris as a voice actor for a while now. All of his characters sound exactly the same, which is basically just his regular speaking voice. His best roles for me was Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho and Armstrong from Full Metal Alchemist.
I prefer Drummond's version for early DBZ Vegeta, while Sabat's for Dragon Ball Super for growing out of being evil.
But I also prefer the earlier versions of Sabat's Vegeta having the crispier tone. Modern Sabat nowadays sounds too much alike with all his voiced characters now
Chris Sabat's Vegeta changed over time and has a pretty different tone to it. I do prefer the how he did it in Z, but his delivery in Kai is spot on. Also, Brian Drummond does not get enough credit. He's an awesome voice actor and captures Vegeta's emotion very well, maybe even better than Chris at certain points. Had the pleasure of meeting him once. Very cool dude.
Drummond has an unbelievable yell/scream
But Sabat has a much more iconic tone
Drummond will always be my favourite Vegeta voice. He shreds his lungs and puts so much passion into his work, but also has great range.
Unfortunately, the direction in the Westwood dub let him down for the more emotional moments, but performances in other dubs show just how good he is. I’d love for the Ocean Kai dub to be released at some point. Just like Sabat, we need to see how much Drummond has evolved!
He has said he took it easy in the ocean dub of Kai. That he wasn't shredding his vocal cords quite as much
I love them both, but Chris did it better here. But the "over 9000" and "Vegeta's Wrath" scenes in the Ocean Dub are absolutely Drummond at his best. 💯
Brian always gave me chills when he spoke. Chris is good but Brian is a legend in conveying emotion.
Sabat voice and accent sounds like royalty, prince of all saiyans for sure. Posh English accent fits very well.
When it comes to Chris Sabat, I like his performance as Vegeta better from DBZ Kai (uncut) and up because he's more experienced and sounds better than how he used to back then. It's good to hear Brian Drummond again in DBS as Copy Vegeta.
