  • I have spent 6 months loving this camera, and since my previous videos showcasing it do so well I figured I should do an update.
    If you have any questions at all, leave them below! I will be making more and more videos using this camera so give any ideas, questions or concerns you have.

      Jim Madden most Camera phones are better choice than the f100 I have one And it’s very tedious

    • @JimMadden
      @JimMadden  5 лет назад +10

      philip kou I’m going to have to disagree! Camera phones are incredible now yes, but they just simply don’t have the same capabilities of a camera with full controls. You should be able to set up your X100F to be pretty automatic and produce much better, more usable photos than any cell phone.

    I'm your 900th subscriber - street photographer from Toronto. Great video. I have the Ricoh GR III as my everyday camera -- I love it. Takes great images, small and unassuming, plus it's truly pocketable when I do not want or need to haul around gear. But, BUT, but I constantly keep eyeing the Fuji x100f. One of these days I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and get one.

    Great follow up. Since walking away from DLSRs and to Fuji for my own portrait work, I've found myself so much more connected to the images. It's not always easy to articulate why, but you do a great job over covering what "feels" right about the experience

    Good followup. I have been shooting Nikon forever, currently have a D810 and a D600. Also have Fuji X-T2 and X-T20. I am amazed that since I bought the X100F I have not touched any of the other cameras. Just finished consecutive runs to Chicago and Boston for street shooting and the other cameras were nothing but extra baggage. Love, love, love this camera and my images have been improving, I think because it is a fixed lens camera it forces me to work harder on my composition. I have dubbed it "The Magic" and have no plans to look back. Thanks for sharing.

Later on I purchase the X-Pro2 because I like the style of the rangefinder and I have been very happy birthday with it.Later on I purchase the X-H1 and I’ve been using the fuji equipment more than my Canon Lately but I have no plans of getting rid of my Canon gears

    ive also fallen in love with the x100f after a prompt purchase following a decision to go light from my usual 5div set up. wanted to go more into st photography and so far and carrying it around me to shoot moments in my life.
    -built in flash (MUST for me for dimly lit restaurants/cars/etc)
    -range finder (absolutely adore this)
    -classic filmic colors (biggest seller for me honestly)
    -the beautiful ACROS film simu mode
    -35mm focal length (perfect for street/casual and even city architecture)
    -manual controls on top (adds to the whole experience)
    -the body itself (how light it is/general aesthetics of it)
    even stuff like decent iso performance, super sharp f/2 lens
    at this point im deciding on selling my 4 month old 5div with my L lens collection just to keep this since like u i also do not shoot sports/wildlife etc.
    would love to hear anyones thoughts on this... great vid, thanks for sharing Jim.

    My go to is Classic Chrome H-1,S+1,C-1.
    I like the hard shadows, and I don't shoot in direct sunlight. Like 3400-4500 kelvin.
    You should try Astia H+1,S+3,C+4 just for a challenge in high contrast. I usually leave it at DR400, and Auto white balance R+2, B-1. To me it looks close to some of the Kodak slides.

    Always been a Nikon shooter for decades, started with the Nikkormat FTN and still have it, graduated to my D750 even D850, because I’m a die hard, even went over to Sony a6000 to keep up with technology , but, when I saw the reviews and images taken with the Fuji x100f, whoa..... I had to slim down and go back to a fix lens camera... and guess what, the images and sharpness of pictures are amazing....I’m s travel and street photographer, and can’t wait to get back on the travel bug and shoot with this camera instead of carrying my brick...but, I will never give up my reliable Nikon system...but for sure the Fiji x100f is an amazing camera...

    I compared a bunch of photos from this camera to Canon G7x Mark II and honestly didn't see a dramatic difference in the images. I'm still intrigued by the X100 F because it has several features that the Canon lacks although it lacks a flip screen. Because of these features, I would definitely consider the purchase of the Fuji as an upgrade, but if I had to make a change after comparing the image quality between the two, I would hesitate.
    Thanks for the follow-up review. It's a good one.

    • @JimMadden
      @JimMadden  5 лет назад +2

      Giuseppe Spargo yeah man! I’d put both top dials, ISO and shutter on automatic or ‘A’. Then use the front dial around the lens to change aperture. 2 will give you the most light, so it’ll work well in dark situations. If you can manage your way into the menu and set up your Auto ISO settings, I’d make 3 tiers. Auto 1 from 200-1600, Auto 2 from 200-3200, and Auto 3 from 200-6400. Use auto 1 in daylight, Auto 2 indoors, and auto 3 at night or in the dark! Let me know if that all makes sense. Check out my other video about custom buttons too!

Would be nice if you could maybe do a review of shooting video with the X100F, although it not excels in specs. After using this camera for 2 years, and having purchased the gfx50R as an upgrade, i realize that you can just use your phone for the “carry around camera” instead of the x100F. It’s a great camera but for stuff like you’re doing with your gf and her “influencer” photos, you’re better off just using your phone. If you know how to edit colors and tones, you’re going to achieve the same visible quality on Instagram whether you use a phone or the x100.

    • @JimMadden
      @JimMadden  5 лет назад +7

      youtuber I would disagree completely on that. When I do creative direction on a contract basis for companies, the biggest step is to create content with a camera instead of a phone. It has time and time again shown the difference of professionalism and quality and helped grow an online presence, across the board. I agree phones take great photos, but I’ll never agree that it’s similar to a camera like the Fuji or anything else.

    When digital was first making the scene I remember talk that 20meg could reproduce 100ASA film. That was back in the 4 meg days. Crop Fuji sensor at 24meg is as far as I'm chasing the tech monster. I could care less what happens from here. It's peaked. I can produce images that capture the viewer with what I've got and don't plan to invest in 3-D or any other techno crap that comes out. IT'S THE IMAGE AND THE CONNECTION WITH THE VIEWER. Everything else is techno bullshit.
