    Lindsey actually wrote this song about her battle with an eating disorder and depression, this song is the story of the ballerina (Lindsey) who longs for someone to shatter the glass and set her free, only to discover that she's the only one who can break the glass

    I really like these videos because you really open up to your audience and it's really genuine. You don't get that on many reaction channels :)

      +katinstroodle I am very glad I can give what other channels cannot, and I am VERY glad that you are able to watch and enjoy- it IS a good thing! You take care and have a GREAT holiday season!

    Oh man, I started to get emotional watching your reaction. You're right about the meaning of this song. It's about recovery. The ballerina with perfect porcelain skin in the music box is a metaphor for the need to always seek perfection. In the video the ballerina starts to dance and play more freely so she could escape from it. Lindsey wrote this song based on personal experience with an eating disorder. She used to feel the need to be and look perfect. But when she realized that she wasn't happy (she also suffered from severe depression) and needed to change the way she was living her life, she started to realize that only herself could make things better. That only her could "shatter" that part of herself and only then she would be happy. REALLY liked your reaction.

      +Alice Tiburcio That is VERY cool- I am glad the song is so deep and am glad I was AMAZINGLY able to actually get the point of the song (that's rare for me- I'm usually oblivious to what a song is REALLY about). Thank you so much for watching and enjoying and I hope you have a GREAT Holiday season!

    Lindsey wanted to make us feel what she felt when she had an eating disorder many years ago, so I think your interpretation of the video is very acurate :) Love from Chile.

      +Camila Q.D. Oh man, that IS heavy duty- eating disorders can kill (I am also fighting anorexia myself at the moment). Amazing that I accidentally saw the song for what it is! That's amazing, the song. Thank you so much for the information and I hope you have as good a day today as you possibly can and take care!

    Your reaction was excellent. Lindsey's song was about breaking her struggle with an eating disorder, which has a lot of parallels to addiction.

    Wonderful, moving reaction. I remember I cried too when that video first came out. It's got so much incredible depth! For me I related to it because I have anxiety, and it's like when you're stuck and trapped inside that, in that fake comfort zone, and you're trying so hard to get out! I really respect Lindsey for making videos like this.

    Please GOD tell me Lindsey has seen this. She would love someone seeing them self in her music, in a diffrent way than she saw her self in it.

      Not sure if you know this but Lindsey actually wrote this song about her battle with Anorexia and depression. She had to break through her own she'll to over come anorexia.

  • @pexygate
    @pexygate 6 лет назад +1

    You quite nail it with your interpretation. Lindseys inspiration were her experiences with anorexia which she says in the Studio behind the scenes for shatter me and the book "The only pirate at the party".
    I started to cry too when I watched the video and heard the song for the first time since I struggle with depression and this song really strucks a cord within me.

    my 3 decade long depression took away my ability to feel .. Anything.. and thats how it will likely stay. i do get the desire to feel and if alcohol or drugs worked for me id be doing that. but alcohol and me never got along.. i just fall asleep. no good feeling, nothing. just sleepy. Drugs likewise are shortlived and utterly ineffectual. so, apathy is where im at. But knowing it, and accepting that is also important. Love the song and the reaction! stay shiny!

    The song touched you. You may be interested to the follow-up to it called Lost Girls: ruclips.net/video/pWn7PYm-W90/видео.html which deals with the ongoing battles of recovery. Lindsey explains it better than I ever could in her "Making of" video: ruclips.net/video/mxMkD-uCeB8/видео.html

    Today is March 7, 2021. Congratulations on your sobriety. I will have 3 honest Years of sobriety on June 18 of 2021. It took me19 years to put this time together. Looking back I can see where you Get the idea of that it is pertinent to the road we take in recovery. We are trapped and have no Idea how to get ourselves free of the trap, providing you want to be free of it. If not Then you just go deeper and deeper into that glass ball. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, nobody's gonna break you out. The courage To change the things I can, breaking myself out And the wisdom to know the difference. I don't have the power to get anybody drunk nor do I have the power to get anybody sober. So that change, the breaking of the glass, has to Come within. An alcoholic will continue to lower the bar of what is acceptable behavior so that they can continue to drink. How far down does the elevator go? As far down as the alcoholic is to riding it down. Change starts with ourselves and the 1st step is always the hardest But once we step You have there fellowship to help stand you up and to make sure you keep going forward. I also really like the butterflies in the video. Butterflies are symbolic of change which is why you see them in a a And birds don't seem to be able to contract it. Would love to hear from you or actually Talk with you.

    I like songs that relate to things other than partying and sex. I like how it can emotionally relate to breaking free or the want for feeling. :)

    • @williamroeben
      @williamroeben  8 лет назад +2

      +Kitty Katja Yes- I like songs that have a story- or close to it; something MORE than "I want sex!" or "I'm good at sex!" or "I love this person a lot, and really want to have sex with them/you!" Those LAST suggestions are most songs today and how frickin' dull.

    I would like to see a reaction to Lindsey Stirling's Song of the Caged Bird as I relate to it because I've sufford from manic depression most my life and tried to end it a few times.She wrote the song so it tells me she's been there and I believe most of us have felt like a caged bird at sometime. I am just starting out on RUclips , and I am less than a day old , and feel like I'm not good enough or don't like the way I look . But Lindsey told me that I have to start somewhere and to see the beauty inside myself So I would also like -NearlySeniorCitizen Yetagamer to comment about my channel with his honest opinion . And to keep in mind I just starting but trying to be real as I need some fine tuning .My favourite RUclipsrs are Lindsey Stirling,Peter Hollens and NearlySeniorCitizen as I respect him very much for his opinion , and look up to him for overcoming obstacles as I am trying to do So please go to my channel and give me advice to how I can improve - The Renegade Violinist P.S. really like your show !!!
