I'll try first, "Hey so that old guy from SNL's Weekend Update has a TV show and makes all these tiny insignificant mistakes like other talk show hosts. But here'sthe thing, this dude reads RUclips comments and started trying to "fix" everything he gets wrong in the show by filming a separate RUclips video. Which of course invited more people to critique that video as well. So now this old dude just lost his mind going down the rabbit hole and does like a 20-minute improv set, "correcting" his behavior with inside jokes about his staff, knitters, McDonald's mascots, and lego bricks. You should watch it, he's ridiculously funny. I love laughing at him."

    Birds "B" and "P" sounds: The way birds make sounds is different to how mammals make sounds - instead of one set of vocal chords near the top of the throat (the larynx), they have a pair of a different kind of vocal organ nearer their lungs (the syrinx).
    In birds that are good at mimicking, they can use this pair to make 2 different sounds at the same time, and because their vocal system works differently, they can make different sounds to what our vocal chords can. This lets them make sounds that sound like 'b' and 'p' without lips.

    • @SouthCountyGal
      @SouthCountyGal Год назад +2

      Yes, a toothed whale. :-) In my misspent youth I worked in whaling museums, and I had to know that sort of thing. I felt compelled to correct that Correction out loud, so now my cats are also secure in the knowledge that orcas are both dolphins and whales; the former classification being a subset of the latter. However, they also heard the bit about the orcas' unspecified murder victims, and now they won't come out from under the couch in case the tide rises and the toothed dolphin-whales come looking for fresh meat.
      Incidentally, in the logs of late 19th-century whaling ships orcas are referred to as Grampus. Which could open up a whole new set of animal jokes if anyone actually cared what a bunch of grubby sailors nicknamed whales 100 years ago.
