I have been helping my mom with her decluttering for years now and the "I paid good money for it" thought pattern is the biggest hang up. It doesn't matter if it is a pair of pants that she never wore when they fit and would now require a 50 pound weight loss to fit into again, they cost money. That reasoning does help explain the two big boxes of her old maternity clothes that I found-my little sister is 50. I love watching your videos and hopefully one of these days I can get my mom to watch with me.
Thank you for watching the video and for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. Sending you positive vibes and hoping that your mom wants to watch and get on the same page as you.

Baby -size 8 clothes. Guess how old that baby is now. 18! My 2nd son is 13. I tried selling some at 2 second hand stores. My clothes were far nicer than the first. The 2nd said my clothes were too old, yeah! I keep forgetting to register for the 2 HUGE kids' clothing sales each fall and spring. I used to hang on to things that didn't work out because they cost me good money and I didn't want to waste money. I was watching another declutter guru and she said the money has already been wasted and more space, effort, time, and good state of mind are wasted the longer you keep it. @@AskAngelaBrown very much so, thank you! Yesterday I started by putting away my daughter’s laundry, but today I’m stalled because i have to sort a lot of paperwork..with stuff that’s time consuming and emotionally weighty, it feels like I’m working in slow motion but with extra anxiety. Listening to the clutter corner playlist now 👍🏼
You continue to inspire me. Half way thru decluttering YEARS of unused post it notes, graph paper (which is for some reason I find aesthetically pleasing….but have no use for), etc. Watched your Krud Kutter video yesterday, put that on my shopping list.
Oh no, I love graph paper as well. When I crocheted, I used graph paper to create patterns for myself. A filled-in box was a filled-in crocheted square and the patterns spelled words or images. Ah, those were the days. LOL. How did I ever have time to crochet? Seems like another life. Like you, I have no use for it now. 😜
My daughter is ruthless when it comes to decluttering her toys. I make sure my husband isn’t in the room since he’s an emotional hoarder and I keep my mouth shut about who gave her what when she wants to get rid of something. People aren’t going through her room with a checklist to see how much she kept of what they bought her. I love our donate corner. When it’s full we just drive to the DI and don’t go inside after dropping things off!
The DI as in Deseret Industries? That's a term I haven't heard in a while. LOL. Congratulations on your daughter learning to declutter her toys. Those skills will serve her well for the remainder of her life. 🙏
Angela, I love how you always stay professional about your clients. It’s a rare quality which is so important. I would always give my business clients and their caregivers an assessment form to help me to constantly improve my services. I realized that I must never react because if I did kind people would no longer want to give feedback and malicious people would be pleased.
Good challenge today! The shredding of the pretty year dated journals. They take too much space for items with too many blank pages. If an entry seemed interesting, I'll take a photo and make it digital.
Yay! Another great tip! I tend to do a lot of your tips naturally but I never realized it till now. As I age and watch my friends clearing out stuff from deceased relatives I'm determined to do my decluttering now (even though I don't have much of a hoard lol). Thanks!

As for your question as to where I'm going to start "the easy stuff" I'm starting with my boyfriend. I am being completely serious. As of Friday, July 1st, 2022 he's out of my life. And so is his stuff.
Oh wow, that is a big decision. But I'm sure you have your reasons for it. You will do what's best for you. Sending you positive thoughts, prayers and hugs. You got this! 😊🙏🤗
I’m catching up a couple of week’s worth of videos after taking everything I’ve learned from lovely Angela and tackled many areas of my home that needed addressing. I’m so grateful to you Angela, thank you for helping me! Love from England xx❤️
I need to declutter so much stuff 😩. I usually have an issue with motivation and tackling the easy stuff first. I usually go straight to the hard stuff lol. It’s easier for me to get rid of clothes 👕
If getting rid of clothing is easier - that would be a great place to start. Start with what is easiest for you. It will start the process, and make it okay for you to let go of things that no longer fit in with your current lifestyle.
Easy stuff first. Not necessarily physically easy but logically easy, right? My granddaughter's small bedroom is the project. Grandpa bolted the TV to the wall and now there's a cleared surface. Yay! Grandma bought a dresser with a smaller footprint so out went the 10 drawer 8 foot dresser with attached mirror. Corner decluttered. Yay! The hard stuff is next...the bins in her cubby unit. (Oh, how I wish we could just tip them into the dumpster) Thanks for this series, Angela. It keeps me going.
We have a 30 year old sound system that we no longer use. It has a woofer, two speakers on stands, and two wall speakers. I asked hubby about getting rid if it and he is on board. Woohoo!
LOL. It's funny you say that. We have clients who won't declutter unless they move so they keep 6 month leases and move every 6 months for that very reason.
Right? I'm the same way - old school. I've been saving 10 years of tax records although we're only required to keep 7. I got rid of the other 3 years yesterday. Oh no, I think these videos are getting to me too. LOL. 😂😂😂
Great video! I love your content! I have a cleaning question that I know is unrelated to the content in this video. I set my oven to self-clean. I had mistakenly left a silicon guard on my wire rack that my mother gave me. The silicon residue is all over my oven. It is as if it vaporized and stuck to every surface in the oven. Is there a way to clean this off? My oven is 10 years old but before this incident it looked like new.
OUCH! This is an icky situation at best. (No pun intended 😜) The silicone is designed to withstand temperatures in an oven up to 500 degrees F. That said, the self-cleaning cycle runs much hotter than that for long periods of time, which is why it melted or rather vaporized. The best shot you have at cleaning it - is to run another self-cleaning cycle - or two. See if it can burn itself off. I don't know of a chemical that will take it off if it is stuck to every surface in the oven - this would mean that it is on the elements and light fixtures as well. I'm so sorry you're in this situation and hope you will keep me posted on the outcome. I'm here rooting for you. 🙏

In this scenario we are dealing with paper products , files, papers, office supplies.
