In the recorded version of Under the Bridge the choir that sings at the end is John's mom and some of her church friends. I thought that was pretty cool that she would do that.
In the Funky Monks documentary you see John singing it so whether they just decided to cut his out completely and just stick with the choir or put the volume of the choir higher than his I don't know. But both ways sound amazing
He's top 5 in my book. If this number took into effect what they bring to the band he's top 3. He was the genius behind RHCP. But I did see a list where he was #21. Neil Young is another underrated guitarist.
Chilling listen to RHCP...The best funk rock band ever. I could listen to them exclusively for a very long time. Thank God they saved funk. A.K. was truely the new James Brown.

I think that nobody know it (facepalm) but in the first part of the video, they are singing in a funny way Nervous Breakdown from Black Flag (epic hardcore punk band from late 70s and 80s)
It's a bit of everything. He uses a '60s strat with Seymour Duncan SSL-1 pickups on the neck pickup through a Boss Chorus Ensemble through a Marshall Silver Jubilee and a Marshall Major both set on the edge of breakup. If you're going for that tone I would recommend Boss' newest Boss CE-2W which is sort of the closest equivalent to the Boss CE-1 which you can buy new nowadays and some sort of vintage style reissue low wattage Marshall amp so you can really get that edge of breakup tone without ruining your hearing. Hope that helps :)
+Goumig Wow, that helps alot. Didnt know even pickups have to be precise for a song. I only have a mini amp coz im still learning, I hope its fine hehe. I'd probably get that chorus pedal you mentioned. Thanks a lot!
Yuseph Ali we’ll be mindful that this song was studio recorded on a mid 50s Strat. But being realistic here you won’t be able to piece together John’s rig cheap. Get your self a Strat, a good clean amp and get a good bass tone through it. Just play with your gear you will stumble on a sound that pleases. Rock on.
mike hall you are right. I was just thinking about his primary strat in the Blood Sugar sex magik days. This song was recorded on a jag, I believe it was his red on red matching headstock jag. 1965 model possibly?
I just love how softly John plays that intro when Anthony leads in . Damn

John Frusciante hands down the most underrated guitarist in Rock history.
Guy is a genius
He won big polls . 1 where 40.000 people voted. He won (of course). Prince is more underrated. Legends!!!!
he is not underrated. nor over
+Willem+ Prince is underrated as a overall musician. He always gets praise for his guitar playing and rightfully so.
He's top 5 in my book. If this number took into effect what they bring to the band he's top 3. He was the genius behind RHCP. But I did see a list where he was #21. Neil Young is another underrated guitarist.

a riff is a repeating melodic line, that is an embelishment
Taked me true place if nobody out there
That's not John's usual 1962 Strat he's playing in this version. Still sounds good though. Almost as good as Slane Castle

How do I make my guitar sound just like John's in Under the Bridge? I also have a Fender Strat. Im kinda new guitars. Is it the pedal? Amp?

Wasn't it recorded on a Fender Jaguar in the studio??? You can hear it in the sound I think.
mike hall you are right. I was just thinking about his primary strat in the Blood Sugar sex magik days. This song was recorded on a jag, I believe it was his red on red matching headstock jag. 1965 model possibly?
0:15 the girl who said okay was so extra

Did John start crying when the crowd started singing?

John es o mejor
Flea was fully dressed !!! must have been -1000 !!!!
6:20 1st time Kurt Angle on stage replacing Chad on drums... 8)
I probably know the reason already, but why did John plays so fast in Under the Bridge?
