DAMN STRAIGHT SO GLAD I OPENED MY MIND TO TRY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC...I HAVE PLAYED THIS 3 DAYS STRAIGHT LOOPED ! SUCH AN AWESOME VENUE AND HARMONICS ARE PERFECT...HOT DAMN WHAT A SHOW !!!
One of my most favourite memories from being a kid was being at Hyde Park with my dad for their concert and begging him to get me in front of John. He spent the entire concert making sure I was in front of him, and John sat right in front of me to play Under the Bridge on the stage like he does here and I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was in another world watching him play guitar. My dad still brings it up some 16 years later!
indeed, i was in front of him for that song here at this gig. A little bit older than you by the sounds of it but doesn't matter, really powerful none the less!
i was 9 when this concert was recorded. and i was in chile. it was... pretty imposible to see, but, i really loved the CD with the concert, best gift from my bests friends from my childhood
@@buckbumble Inside the studio I agree. In my opinion Stadium Arcadium is the masterpiece of red hot. But live I haven't seen a show like this one. Whether on YT or in person. Epic is the word!
This is the first ever concert i watched on RUclips when I was a teenager. This got me to ask my parents to buy me an electric guitar. Still my all time favourite and I'm now a guitar teacher. Long live The RHCP and John Frusciante
I'm living a not easy phase in my life but watching and listening this marvellous concert, now after long time I've goosebumps on my skin and I'm crying of joy. Thanks Anthony, Flea, John and Chad!! I love you.
Lucky you!! - i only discovered them last year! And I’m 65.. i should have paid more attention to them when i saw them open for The Rolling Stones in Sydney ‘95.
Seriously, when ever I wanna listen to RHCP I look up this performance. I almost always listen from top to bottom. This particular performance was fookin flawless! All four of them were in the zone and nailing every song!! This performance is definitely a " if I had a time machine moment "
I come back to this post every single time my life gets me down, I’ve recently went through a really really rough break up and this is the only thing keeping me afloat so thank you chilis 🙏🙏🙏🙏
"John was so on point in this concert!" No, its not just this concert, this is HOW HE ALWAYS IS Put some respect on one of the most underrated guitarists of our generation, this guy is a god. Literally beat drugs, found inner peace and went on to create 3 classic albums back to back to back. 3 of the best rock albums of our time.
Its amazing he came back from the state he was in. What a story. Came back and created 3 more albums with the Chilis. He made the Chili Peppers into what they are now.
if you have watched a lot of john playing live before, you would understand why "he was so on point" in this concert. In fact, this is probably one of the few concerts when all members were on point.
I can actually say “I was there!” The bands before them were awesome with Feeder, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters! But RHCP were unbelievable that night
So true, so many emotions in this set. Like fucking hell everytime i go to listen to one of the specific songs I end up listening to atleast half of them again. Seriously feel it in my entire body. Unlucky im not able to go crazy listening right now since im in the bus 😅. Rock on brother❤
This has to be one of the greatest gigs of all time. Wish I was there. Hard to pick one performance from the billing which stands out...Venice Queen is a truly mesmeric one. These are guys who know their craft and have to go down as one of the greatest alternative bands.
imagine being an irish dude at august 23 of 2003 in the morning and saying "oh yea mate, later today i'm gonna go to this chili peppers concert at slane castle"
Think for a second that there are probably some people who bought the tickets, but weren't able to for whatever reason or even worse: changed their minds.
IM DEAD I FUCKING WISH OML I WAS LIKR 6 DAYS AWAY FROM BEING BORN :( THIS IS A HISTORICAL EVENT IN MY MIND - I MEAN IT HAS 15 MILLION VIEWS IT MOST DEF IS.
At the age of 14 , can you possibly recall Mark , whether or not Anthony's voice sounds like the video or not ? Someone in the comments below said his voice was edited for videos ! I say that Irish horse S**t ! That would do him an injustice , he wouldn't let that happen , agree or ?
@@williamjosephharrison7595 I was at the gig, there was some things edited from the gig like when John F stops while playing one of his solo songs (guitar and sings) and turned his back to the crowd and then turned around and started again. That's gone. But the singing is pretty much unedited yep
This concert is the best live performance of “Otherside” that you can find anywhere. Anthony’s singing and John’s backup vocals are absolutely perfect here.
The thing about the Chili Peppers is that somehow, these 4 tremendously gifted musicians ended up in the same band and developed such an unique dynamic that's impossible to find anywhere else. Every single one of them is incredibly good at what they do, but it's not as of they're fighting over who's the best, it's the way the energy of all of them together elevates their sound and performance and you don't really know where to look because you don't want to miss anything any of them is doing. It's actually crazy how life brought them together but i'm so grateful it happened!
It’s so crazy how it happened. Especially when all of them were in a bad place in life. They healed each other (and all of us) through their friendship and transparency. It was pure fate they met each other. Life is trippy sometimes
I think this about basically every band lol, but indeed so wild to think about how music would be so different if just the musicians didn't meet eachother.
The energy, the soul in every song, the whole performance, the place, the sunset, the crowd, the fun in their faces while they're playing... What a show! This concert is the pure essence of RHCP. This show is already immortal.
When I was 16 I listened to this the first time. When I was 19 I enjoyed it with smoking weed. Now I am 24 and I enjoy this with drinking coffee. It is so timeless. When I could make a time travel, I would definitely choose this concert in 2003...
John invokes more emotion from me than any musician alive or dead. I’m 40 and maybe it’s nostalgia but maybe not. This performance is heartbreakingly beautiful.
The chemistry between John and Flea is spreading to other dimensions, I swear their cosmic energy makes it like they’re from another planet. The jam into Californication and adjusting the rhythm of the bass and guitar with the rhythm of the audience is really impeccable and it shows how professional and spiritually connected they are with their instruments. Such a sick concert!
I think they’re connection is not only rare but the shear magnitude of it is incomprehensible. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen in my opinion
@@kickassumbreon8035 That's a great song friend, but seriously RHCP are Lucifer/Ishtar worshipping Saturn cultists. AK told you all what the asterisk was. It's an angel's asshole. Did you ever care to guess which angel though? The 8-pointed star belongs to Ishtar; in other words, the wife of the devil. In some cultures she is depicted as a lightbearer (statue of liberty); in other words Lucifer. Forgive me if this is going too far, but did anyone think AK was a sex-crazed maniac but somehow not tied into anything overtly dark? What if the rumors he was in Epstein's black book are true?
There was a really nice moment that was edited out where John stops singing and playing and turns his back to the crowd for a moment in what seemed like embarrassment. He might have been struggling with the vocals perhaps. And then we (the crowd :) ) cheered him on to continue and he turned around again and finished it. I can see why they wanted to cut it but it's a pity as it really was a nice moment between him and the crowd.
@@DanFernandesBenficaSaint deffo agree. Some songs at Slane Castle a bit better though - like Don't Forget Me, but others not even close, like Throw Away Your Television. Overall Hyde park much better album.
@@imcharming4808 It's all the jams and improv Frusciante brings to their live performances. Especially him and Flea, they can really get lost in it together, which is what they do here a few times. They seem to enjoy playing and bouncing ideas off each other, and make every song slightly unique from the album version. That jam they have before Californication is really something, you can tell it's not learned note for note and rehearsed, it's all just improv. I mean, I'm sure they had an idea to do this extended intro, but what they play is totally just them having a jam sesh bouncing off each other. These 2 made Chilies an iconic band of the 90s and 2000s. I could really go on and on about Frusciante for hours, who was my biggest inspiration to save up money to buy my first guitar and start learning it when I was only 13. I still play now 18 years later, and even work in audio production/engineering, he really is my icon and inspired me to get into music and pretty much shape my whole life/career around it. As I said, I could go on forever about him, but I'll spare you reading a massive wall of text haha

January 20th 2023 and I'm still listening! I have seriously lost count on how many times I've listened to this concert in its entirety! I still remember when I bought the DVD. Everything about this concert is spot-on perfection!
Kiedis doesn’t get enough respect as a vocalist. He has such a unique style and it’s clear that he has put an enormous amount of effort into practice. His ability to physically exert himself on stage while singing these songs almost flawlessly shows how seriously he takes his craft. Each member is immensely talented. To have 4 guys like this come together and get along well enough to create such a large discography of great songs…it’s hard to describe how difficult that is to pull off. A very special performance from a very special band. They have earned every ounce of their success and respect. RHCP is a truly inspiring band.
Its been 7 or 8 years since I first discovered this and I still get the goosebumps. I've watched it hundreds of times and learned about 80% of the guitar work. This concert is one of the greatest of all times, it's pure perfection on every level. Cheers to those who discover this over the coming decade and I hope it brings you the happiness it has brought all of us for so long already.
I will forever be jealous of those people who were able to be at this concert. This was peak RHCP and I wish I was alive to have seen this concert. Absolutely flawless!!!
We took this stuff for granted , used to have great bands every week in UK and Ireland within driving distance every week, the talent pool has dried up and bands have dried up, don't worry there will be a renaissance eventually, ppl will get sick of this rap pop rnb dance hybrid soulless crap of today
I'd say there isn't one specific member that drives the band to the best performance. Each one plays their part. Kiedis with his unique vocals. Flea with his amazing bass skills. Frusciante with his incridible flow. And Chad with his uncomparable drumming skills.

Standing in line (that morning) to see the show that would happen later that night, I ate an actual chili pepper (the fruit/berry of the plant genus Capsicum) because someone was handing them out to everyone in the crowd...it burned so much!!! My mouth was literally on fire and I needed water so badly! But the only thing at hand was a straight up bottle of gin that one of my friends was holding....needless to say I took a big gulp of that gin and it only intensified the burn! It was just one of the great moments out of so many other great moments that day! Slane 2003 we saw Queens of the stone age, Foo fighters and a ton of other great artists before the chili peppers topped it off with this legendary performance! It's so nostalgic to come back and watch this gig every so often. I miss that day!...and I miss the friends that I shared it with ❤

That Parallel Universe solo was crazy, and he was hardly even looking at his guitar and he went down the neck! Legend! 🤘🙌👏👍🔥🎸
You new to music?
One of my most favourite memories from being a kid was being at Hyde Park with my dad for their concert and begging him to get me in front of John. He spent the entire concert making sure I was in front of him, and John sat right in front of me to play Under the Bridge on the stage like he does here and I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was in another world watching him play guitar. My dad still brings it up some 16 years later!
indeed, i was in front of him for that song here at this gig. A little bit older than you by the sounds of it but doesn't matter, really powerful none the less!
I was at Hyde park. Didn’t know how great John was until recently. Wish I paid more attention 🤪🙁
My dad also had to make sure I was in front of John! I was 18 and slightly disabled but we did it. :)
That’s gold 😀
This concert has provided me with more emotional support than most of the people in my life

"John was so on point in this concert!"
No, its not just this concert, this is HOW HE ALWAYS IS
Put some respect on one of the most underrated guitarists of our generation, this guy is a god. Literally beat drugs, found inner peace and went on to create 3 classic albums back to back to back. 3 of the best rock albums of our time.
How in the world is he underrated?
You need to relax man. He was just saying that he had a particularly good night that night
terry dowling Shut the fuck up you twat
Its amazing he came back from the state he was in. What a story. Came back and created 3 more albums with the Chilis. He made the Chili Peppers into what they are now.
if you have watched a lot of john playing live before, you would understand why "he was so on point" in this concert. In fact, this is probably one of the few concerts when all members were on point.
I can actually say “I was there!”
The bands before them were awesome with Feeder, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters!
But RHCP were unbelievable that night

@@williamjosephharrison7595 I was at the gig, there was some things edited from the gig like when John F stops while playing one of his solo songs (guitar and sings) and turned his back to the crowd and then turned around and started again. That's gone. But the singing is pretty much unedited yep
@@musclesmalone soul to squeeze as well
This concert is the best live performance of “Otherside” that you can find anywhere. Anthony’s singing and John’s backup vocals are absolutely perfect here.
You could have stopped at “this concert is the best live performance”.
And to come through addiction to become the best band on the planet 👌👌

@@eachfallenrobin Oh no! Did you frequent Bryson's as much as I did back in 2003/2004?
The chemistry between John and Flea is spreading to other dimensions, I swear their cosmic energy makes it like they’re from another planet. The jam into Californication and adjusting the rhythm of the bass and guitar with the rhythm of the audience is really impeccable and it shows how professional and spiritually connected they are with their instruments. Such a sick concert!
They're "Universally Speaking"😉
2024 and this is still an amazing performance... Less smartphones over their heads which is very beautiful scenery
This concert is single handedly getting me through 2020.
AMEN
John singing "Maybe" was awesome.
My favorite part
There was a really nice moment that was edited out where John stops singing and playing and turns his back to the crowd for a moment in what seemed like embarrassment. He might have been struggling with the vocals perhaps. And then we (the crowd :) ) cheered him on to continue and he turned around again and finished it. I can see why they wanted to cut it but it's a pity as it really was a nice moment between him and the crowd.
This is my favorite live performance, ever, out of so, so many.
Hyde Park is the best by far
