This is amazing!! the storytelling and expressions come off spectacular! From what I understand, Heather has always had a fascination with sea stories, specifically about mermaids. As she gets older, she begins to lose her youth and beauty and/or she has a disease that will kill her young. She turns to science to find a cure with the help of the crew mate but spirals when there's no success, becoming psychotic and even doing tests on herself. When the crew mate gets hurt and walks out, Heather realizes that their blood and any mermaid-like creature's blood has rejuvenating abilities. This leads her to using it on herself and becoming young, healthy and beautiful again. She makes bank selling the blood to other upper class people who share her desire to stay young and beautiful. She and Charles hunt and harvest mermaids for their blood, likely justifying that they are all monsters. Behind her back, the upper class judge her whether it be for her dirty work, being a woman of science, using the blood to stay young, her facial scar, or all of the above. However, Mariza, even in their new form, remembers what heather did to her girlfriend and sees the damage she is causing to the sea. She begins haunting Heather in her dreams, giving her nightmares and making her anxious. At the end right before Heather goes out on another expedition, Mariza decides to pay Heather a visit to give her some karma.
Okay, here’s my interpretation: Heather grew up fascinated with mermaids, in a pretty well-off family. At some point, she met Willow (jellyfish mermaid, the one appearing at the lyrics “how do I meet the strangest men” - for the new people, she’s part of Delta’s crew as seen in the google slides) and they became very close, but something happened - my guess is that she found out she was a mermaid - and either Heather attacked her or she hurt herself. This led to Heather discovering mermaid blood (the part where she picks up the shard with blood on it) and beginning to hunt mermaids thanks to how valuable their blood is. Cut to Delta’s childhood, where she encountered Heather after discovering her ‘lair’ (I believe the monstrous looking mermaid is like that because of blood loss, since we’ve seen Delta’s mermaid form before and it didn’t look so creepy), which foreshadows Delta’s own capture and then shows us a scene from it where Mariza saves her. Willow is either still in contact with Heather and is her ally (hence the turning away from the rest of the crew), or is simply remembering her bad past with her and seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Mariza is using her newfound god powers to make Heather guilty for what she’s done (you can see her signature glowing cyan in the background of the dream sequence) to try and throw her off. At the end, it looks like there’s about to be a confrontation, or Mariza is simply watching/spying on Heather. Beautiful animatic as always and it’s super fun to interpret with the lore we’ve already been given!
I also noticed her looking older in some scenes and chemistry with a younger looking version in the next. Maybe mermaid blood can be used to reverse the aging process
In the Tumblr it's made pretty clear that Willow doesn't want anything to do with Heather in the present. Apparently the reason she's an alcoholic (you can see her holding a bottle in the slides and I think it's been mentioned before) is because she feels responsible for heather becoming a mermaid hunter

not often an animatic makes you rethink your interpretation of the song!! i've heard this audio many times but never really thought about "now only dogs will follow me" for long. but like. for this character, her close relationship just failed, so now she's only attracting those who follow her for their own gain -- like dogs clustering around a butcher shop. those drawn to money she may offer, or to the inhumaneness of her work. and they follow her whims only for that end result, not understanding her because she doesn't want them to. also that framing of hair across the screen was GENIUS

0:09 This might be common knowledge, but I think this lady dissects the mermaid/ ocean creatures in order to create a solution which makes one younger. The way it goes from many stages of her life to how she is in the story, holding a vial of some liquid, is what is making me think this.
Also in a part of the animatic it seems that she was having some sort of nightmare of her skin being ripped off? With mermaids/creatures around, maybe that can be a side effect of using their blood for a long time.

I’m just noticing something… in some shots Heather looks like she looks ‘old’ (like, kinda wrinkly n stuff) but in other shots that seem to be taken at a later time she seems young. And we can see that Delta met Heather when she was a child, and Heather seems to be young there, and is still young now. When she puts some of the persons blood on her face it seems to make her look young again… not to mention the mermaid skeleton from the ‘Dismemberment Song’ seems to be alive during the scenes where Delta is a child (but is now, just a skeleton). And the dude at 0:12 seems to be a younger version of the dude at 1:27 (maybe? I can’t tell). Does mermaid blood… de-age people? It makes sense why she’d be hunting mermaids. I think we even see older people at those parties Heather is attending, and maybe she sells mer-blood to de age people? Explains why she is so rich. I think in this book she read as a child was written about the way to become forever young. So as it was shown she dedicated most of her life trying to find it, but kept falling when it went through her life at the beginning. And when she is older she finally realises how to collect the blood of a mermaid correctly (the mermaid must be alive as it says in the Google slides so that blood doesn't lose its magical properties ). Also, mermaid can shape-shift, so I guess that person she had an argument with was a mermaid and that way she found out, I think. So kind of she dedicated her entire life to get immortality because of some children's book, but it paid off and before she died she found a way. Now she is very rich because of selling it to rich people. I hope this is not the end of this character, but I am not sure how she will survive a fight with Mariaza, but who knows maybe the blood of mermaids potentially for more than a century gave her some powers which will make her stand a chance, this would also explain her special dreams and whispers when she was attacked by water last time.

Heather loved mermaids as a child (just like my cousin...she doesn't like them, she adores them) and while reading stories about mermaids, she discovered that they have eternal life. She didn't think about it for long and focused on science and education. When she got old, she didn't want to die soon because she had done very few things in her life. Through a friendship with one of the mermaids, she learns of their healing/rejuvenating powers and with the help of a small blood sample, creates a formula that stops the aging process. She sells it to the upper echelons of society and begins to hunt mermaids from the bay.😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@Misherop_TurYeah, powers or not, Heather is very dangerous and a good hunter, so... she might get away with it this time. However, Mariza is a goddess, but I don't want Heather to end. She is such a good villain. Also, she knows how to quickly tie people up as we saw it in the "Dismemberment Song" when she carried Delta from one room to another and tied him to a dismemberment table.

Despite Heather having a understandable reason for hunting mermaids, she still treats them and (her employees) very badly. The mermaid probably looked so scary because of all the experiments Heather did on it and all the blood it lost during those experiments. I have to admit though she's got a great singing voices, a lot of passion for her work, and a great villain ark.

The way this reminded me immediatly of mother gothel and lmao love that delta having a long braid kinda connects to rapunzel just a silly little thing i noticed. Also omg the ending but also the video as a whole gives such a good spooky vibe of just spiraling downward

I love Heather too. She is very funny, charismatic, although a psycho and a villain. Maybe I love her because she's a villain. There's something attractive about her personality, and it's certainly not a crazy obsession. I want more Heather. She is very beautiful, I really don't care about her crazy personality. She is so cute that I think I could hug her all day, but I think I would bore her.
I have a strange attraction (not necessarily love b4 anyone freaks out) towards feral blondes. Heather fits this so well, plus the bonus of being able to HIDE HER FERAL so she seems all prim and proper!

I loved this so much!Maria is such an is such an interesting character💖💖 Okay so from what we've seen on this video,I can kinda try to deduce what happened Basically since childhood,Maria was very interested in sea people,more specifically how their blood(?) has some strange characteristics,and she eventually found out/proved to people,that their blood could make you look younger,I assume it's because of the person who saved(?) her on that boat,since we see them with a lot of blood before the person eventually leaves(maybe Maria just wanted their blood since the beggining to make experiments),so she kept her youth for a really long time,we even see Delta as a child,and now a day she is practically an adult,and Maria still looks the same from when they first saw each other. Then she tries to get Delta's blood(seen in another video),but that backfires,cuz Mariza barges in and gets Delta back,which makes Maria try to research about Mariza's powers(?),getting way too deep into her research,other no bles start gossiping about her,and then Mariza(after losing her memories) comes to maybe take revenge on all the sea people Maria killed I think that's it but I could be wrong :')
It's so hard to have such aggressive art envy and still be able to fully appreciate such amazing animation, characterization, and story, but goddamnit if Shandzii didn't do the impossible yet again.
And she as an adult is BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT! I can see why she wants to keep that beautiful face. I don't blame her, but she does disgusting things and is proud of it as long as she has eternal life and money.

I hope this is not the end of this character, but I am not sure how she will survive a fight with Mariaza, but who knows maybe the blood of mermaids potentially for more than a century gave her some powers which will make her stand a chance, this would also explain her special dreams and whispers when she was attacked by water last time.

I think the story goes something like this...
Heather loved mermaids as a child (just like my cousin...she doesn't like them, she adores them) and while reading stories about mermaids, she discovered that they have eternal life. She didn't think about it for long and focused on science and education. When she got old, she didn't want to die soon because she had done very few things in her life.
Through a friendship with one of the mermaids, she learns of their healing/rejuvenating powers and with the help of a small blood sample, creates a formula that stops the aging process. She sells it to the upper echelons of society and begins to hunt mermaids from the bay.😊😊😊❤❤❤
@@Misherop_TurYeah, powers or not, Heather is very dangerous and a good hunter, so... she might get away with it this time. However, Mariza is a goddess, but I don't want Heather to end. She is such a good villain. Also, she knows how to quickly tie people up as we saw it in the "Dismemberment Song" when she carried Delta from one room to another and tied him to a dismemberment table.
Wow! This is a great animation! I love how most of her oc’s are in the same universe and how they all play a role in a story!

The "Is he following?" question tickled the right part of my brain.
Despite Heather having a understandable reason for hunting mermaids, she still treats them and (her employees) very badly. The mermaid probably looked so scary because of all the experiments Heather did on it and all the blood it lost during those experiments. I have to admit though she's got a great singing voices, a lot of passion for her work, and a great villain ark.

There's something attractive about her personality, and it's certainly not a crazy obsession. I want more Heather. She is very beautiful, I really don't care about her crazy personality. She is so cute that I think I could hug her all day, but I think I would bore her.

Okay so from what we've seen on this video,I can kinda try to deduce what happened
Basically since childhood,Maria was very interested in sea people,more specifically how their blood(?) has some strange characteristics,and she eventually found out/proved to people,that their blood could make you look younger,I assume it's because of the person who saved(?) her on that boat,since we see them with a lot of blood before the person eventually leaves(maybe Maria just wanted their blood since the beggining to make experiments),so she kept her youth for a really long time,we even see Delta as a child,and now a day she is practically an adult,and Maria still looks the same from when they first saw each other.
Then she tries to get Delta's blood(seen in another video),but that backfires,cuz Mariza barges in and gets Delta back,which makes Maria try to research about Mariza's powers(?),getting way too deep into her research,other no bles start gossiping about her,and then Mariza(after losing her memories) comes to maybe take revenge on all the sea people Maria killed
I think that's it but I could be wrong :')
