"Strangely she had a way of making them think the violence was their idea" is my favorite line. I always assumed it was in reference to the mental struggle after something violent happened to you.
It’s a dental manikin skin/shroud, dental students place a headform inside and a dental mouth to simulate working on a patient’s teeth, so without the mouth/teeth it’s just a large hole. You can find the same style as this mask for about $40 online and then have someone add a black mesh insert inside the mouth and paint it to match the colors of the mask in the movie
I'm 52 and I still have this fantasy of being in a shopping centre when it closes down. But it would need to be set in the 80s though lol 😂People from that era live in their heads.
I never knew I needed an interview directed by David Lynch. Jokes aside, the art direction, the flow of the conversation, particularly the editing and the use of green screen (was it a green screen?) are excellent! I really love the surreal, off-kilter personality of this interview. 1:03 THE STAFF INTERACTION YESSSS
I wanna know how she found that mask in the basement of a dental school and I want to know what she was doing in the basement of a dental school where she found that creepy mask
It's interesting to me that there are two primary ways a film can be unsettling...the first is the content of the film itself, while the second is how much time has passed since it was produced. Older films can often take on an unsettling quality just by virtue of being older, taking on an etheral quality. The older it is, the stronger this quality is.
It’s been 38 years since this movie was made in somebody should remake this into a feature length Netflix movie or do a trilogy of three different stories with him feature-length
Length ≠ better quality. It would just add unnecessary details and take away the intrigue of the story. Cecelia Condit would’ve made it longer if she felt it needed to be. Having her work wrung out and stretched unnecessarily wouldn’t be “better”, it would be a cash grab.
she seems so kind, i love her energy 💕 cecelia is amazingly talented, her work is some of my absolute favorite. i'm glad possibly in michigan blew up on the internet so more people can appreciate such unique and evocative work!
This was a great interview! Loved the editing too. I’ve always heard the “she must have been out of her head” audio being used but only now thought to look into its origin and I’m glad I did ! Cecelia’s movies, (especially Possibly in Michigan) are so interesting and unsettling to me. It also blows my mind that she was able to heal through her own art!
Same. It’s unsettling for sure, especially when it shows the girls and then transitioning to decaying bodies/faces, but overall I really love it, I don’t know why, it’s almost soothing in a way.
I loved this video! A great interview with a really interesting artist! Some of the added video effects and edits didn't frame very well, but most of them were super interesting and unique!
@@babysbreathhh Perhaps not a sequel but a similar situation in a modern surrounding. Arthur is kind of a Freddy Krueger or a Jason he could be an Internet stalker. There could be an amazing parallel story with a modern twist showing the more things change the more they stay the same. The Hunter gets captured by the game.
Like Luc said, a cast reunion, where everyone from in the film talks about their memories of each other, of making the film, of what they think of it now, of their lives since then, and everything. That would be so amazing! The casts of tons of sitcoms did cast reunions like that over video calls over the last several years, so this cast could do it over video or in person if possible. I know so many people would love to see that! ~ Not discounting the sequel ideas and other stuff too, I would love it all, if Cecelia would want to make a sequel or let someone else make a sequel for PIM, it's just this interview got me excited about a cast reunion discussion!
I love Arthur, he's a nice villain and sometimes he's funny, because he could idk break the door like a normal person, and he grabbed a rock and HITTED THE WINDOW WITH IT and HAHAHAHAHAH he looked like kinda silly
Question, for anybody who knows… about the corpses in the film, were they real? Something I’ve always wondered. I’d think that it’d be illegal to film bodies, but I don’t know.
i thought for the corpses they used hings like poultry and like meat in general to make it gross and unsettling and also realistic and raw. they could have also used clay and like the comment above me said wax
This interview flows with creativity and insight how to use the most scariest scenario and still hug you like a friend while taking you, in pieces, to the kitchen. 6:58 "I uh... I forgor 💀" -Nanashi Mumei
This movie has become such an amazing piece of art. Not just horror and I couldn't be happier that you guys hosted this interview with her. She is fascinating. I couldn't believe where the Arthur mask originated. knowing that she got it from the basement of a dentist school in the 80s. I couldn't think of a more Organic means of finding something so unsettling.
truly a generous artist. her film says so much on its own and here she is telling us even more. so many artists withhold stuff like this. lovely interview.
I’ve been a fan of Cecilia condit for years!! She’s so so so sweet and all of her works are so visually stunning and close to my heart, I wish the best for her and I am so inspired by her 🩷
A female voice saying had a way of making them think the violence was his idea. Thats the most terrifying thing out of the whole movie. The notion that domestic violence is their fault 😨
I love the great work he does and it doesn't impress him that he's very scared too (I'm like that too) ,now that I think about it people who make horror movies and things must be scared to does the public have it too?
Why are horror creators always so sweet
I feel most of the time the people who create the most powerful horror films are the sweetest since they are the most disturbed

Just imagine a collaboration between Cecilia and David Lynch. The world wouldn’t recover.

Why wouldn't she be comfortable?
I liked her honesty about not paying the actress. I like her.
You can say that again
The most scary thing about Arthur for me is the mouth, the constant open mouth and never talking

they probably put fake teeth in the open mouth for students to practice on
but why she was there i really don’t know lol
I believe it came off of a dental phantom. Basically mannequin heads with teeth. I've found pics online of some with similar faces like the mask
It kinda looks like the album cover of ‘the bends’
I think the genuine 80s equipment is what gives it more fear value. The camera quality, the microphone quality, it was already perfect.
