I've been using one since mid 2017 and have shot interviews and weddings with it. Waiting to see what the R5 turns out to be. Also if you change it to manual focus you can get a clean hdmi look which works for long talking head things.
Oh nice thanks for the tip! I’ll pin this so others can see it 👍
@@TheEverydayDad Cool. Maybe I need to make a video explaining it.
@@christopherpackart whats a hdmi look? 😅
@@pa9030 external recording with no overlay information displayed.
@@christopherpackart ok thanks!
I bought an 80d at the beginning of this year. No regrets.
It's flippin great. I have been using for a couple years now
i'm gettin one soon...
@@hafidziamirsite me too...theiir are so expensive
Just bought a nearly new 80D on eBay for $500. I’d take that over buying a new 90D any day.
The 90d is effectively double the price of a low-use second hand 80d.
It's not worth it...yet. Get the 80d
In Canada right now (June 2020) the 90d is $1500 and the 80d is $950. So the 4k and 32MP of the 90d is really not worth 50% more money for most people. So I bought an 80d myself. It is a major step up from the 1200d that I was using before. So I completely agree.
No All-I in the 90d either. That’s huge for video
Yes! Still the best of the cheapest you can buy with All-I compression - a VERY underrated codec. You can't get ALL-I beyond the 80D until you hit the EOS R, 90D included.
I still shoot with this work horse, it’s a perfectly fine camera and we have shared a lot of good times!
I still use my 70D and it’s still working like a charm.
The lenses matter more than the body most of the time. Better spend those extra cash for not chasing after the latest camera bodies on good lenses.
The 70d is nice as well i found one in the garbage I'm a garbage truck driver and i found
@@taquandriaadams3389 are u selling it?
I've been using my trusty T2i / 550d until 4 months ago. Decided to keep the investment moderate and got 'only' an 80d as a sucessor. It's so much better in any way. I plan on using it 5ish years before upgrading.
I still use the 80D for my professional video work and RUclips videos! Love it, once you get over the the gear>creativity myth you'd be surprised with where your creativity can go!
What lenses perfect fit to 80D?
I totally agree i have produced some great music videos and wedding footage with my 80D great camera with the abundance of lens/filter choices everything comes out very nice
Been subbed for almost two years now, congrats on 100k it’s really nice to see you getting the recognition you deserve !
Well thanks so much!
He deserves more, lol haha
This was on the top camera list for car photography within a lower budget. Definitely considering buying this
Did you get it? How is it?
It’s a classic. It has excellent still quality imo and most of my video ends up in 1080p even if I originally shoot with my Sony in 4K. I love my canon 80d. Easy to use, great focus touch screen etc. I also have an a7r2 that I use when I shoot landscape. If you’re mainly a stills shooter and only need to shoot video in 1080p I still think it’s a legit choice in 2021.
Good to know. I want something for travel and street photography. A lot of stills lol, maybe a LITTLE bit of recording. I had a T1i that got stolen, then a T6 that I sold and a G7 Mark II that I sold. I was looking at the Fuji Xt3, Sony a6400, Canon m50, and so many others lol. I don't need the latest and greatest, and honestly I want something with some size and heft. This would be a good choice?
I bought my Canon 80D from B&H back in 2018 a year after I bought my very first DSLR camera (Canon 600D aka T3i in 2017). I've been using it ever since my purchase and it has worked great for me. I've used it a lot for my photography. Not much for video yet, but I will. I love my 80D. It's a great camera. I actually bought my 80D from the used department at B&H.
I really liked my 80D as my starter camera. It was easy to use and taught me how to use a camera. Just make sure the green button is on for the AI Servo or Auto Focus actually isn't on...
What do you mean?
Is 80D supports wifi connection for any smatphones?
@@johndarylucmayon yes
Sooo... what do you use now?
You *can* stream with a clean HDMI signal, as long as you don't use autofocus.
I just picked up one. I love it. I use it for stills though. No reason to use it for video since I have the BMPCC 4K and 6K. but the stills are absolutely beautiful.
I just bought an 80d myself. I use it mainly for stills since I have two BMCCs for video. The 80d is replacing a 1200d. So I seem to work similar to you.
I still use this camera with a sigma 17-50 f/2.8 for the majority of my music video and wedding work. Grades really well for it’s class of camera. I BELIEVE in that autofocus system as I usually shoot alone and use a steadicam for my motion shots.
I have to do wedding shoots, so is a canon 80d better or a sony a6400? I have a gimbal so I dont need ibs and I shoot in 1080p and not 4k. Kindly suggest. For both photography and videography.
@@murtazailyas1715 personally i just got the bigger brother (a6600), which is basically the same image produced on both the a6400 and a6600. BUT, i absolutely prefer the versatility of the sony cameras. You will have some pre setup you will need to do and to get familiar with the menu system. Once you do though, it is a wonderful system that i would say is better than the 80d by a good margin. I am able to shoot in 6400iso in SLOG2 without much noise visible. That is completely impossible to pull off with the 80d. i personally wouldnt shoot over 1600iso with it and that is already pushing it.
You will also be able to shoot 1080p 120fps with the sony as well, but I will say for weddings it is a little overrated for its purpose.
So essentially, WAY better low light performance, 4k capable, 60/120fps video, unlimited record time, faster shutter speed for photos, smaller body, better dynamic range (especially for video).
I would definitely recommend an a6400 over the 80d. if you can afford the a6600 or the newer a7c, I would recommend those as well. Using the a6600, the majority of the time going handheld and IBIS helps a good bit. Idk why it gets downplayed in reviews a lot.
Good luck on your shoot friend ✌
@@jnickmedia Wow. Thankyou so very much buddy for taking out time to giving such an in depth review of everything. Thankyou so very much for making my choice much easier now. Hope happiness awaits you around every corner of life. Best of luck with everything ahead!
I just bought the 80D a few minutes ago off of eBay WITH the kit lens 18-55mm and only 4400 actuations/shots for $650! I am so excited to get it! 🤘😁
Where
eBay.
How is it working? I am thinking of buying one.
@@subarnakhorshed6075 It is working fantastically. I also bought a Canon M50, just started using them both for a new podcast. The video is killer.
Well i can't afford two. But gonna start with 80d 😍
Have an 80D, just sold a 70D to get a Panasonic GH5 based a lot on your video recommendations. Still trying to get a handle on the GH5, but the Canon colors / picture (in my opinion) are still superior, although I bought the GH5 for specs the 80D is lacking including 4K, unlimited recording time, dual card slots. The Canon 80D is still a great value camera and it does stand up if you don't need 4K. Canon's refurbished section offers great prices on gear WITH the warranty. Oh yeah and spring for the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 art lens - it takes the 80D to a whole new level.
Question, so I found this 80d for sale that comes with the body, a lens, a tripod, and a backpack. Everything looks real high quality. I’m trying to invest my money so do you think it would be worth buying that kit for $760-$800 in an investment perspective? How much could that sell for?
If you can’t answer it’s completely fine, thanks for taking the time! 😊👌🏼
Just bought the 80d as a second camer. $1000 usd with sigma 18-35 1.8 and canon 50mm 1.4🤙🏽
Excellent!
How. The sigma is 600+ 50mm 1.4 is 250+ and 80D 700+

Where you get
I bought one last year from Costco for $999. It was the bundle (2 lenses, 18-55 and 55-250, 2 batteries, a bag) I love this camera. I bought 2 more lenses few months ago. It takes amazing photos and videos.
Bidding on a 80D right now and came to this video, thanks. 90D is almost double the price here.
Still using two of these.. still love them. One for my overhead shot and of course the front camera.
for practical purchases and price its one of the best even in 2020. Imagine is good enough for 99% and the EF lens are cheap and numerous.
Very true! 😁👍
amen - I watch everything in HD and play every game on the same res, I know I am old school but I like it!
Hey Everyday Dad, you mentioned the data storage size issue of shooting 4k. To cut it in half, I challenge you to set the Sony bit rate 4k setting to 60kbps. That's right. If you get the exposure close, for talking head videos I bet no one will see a difference. I used a friends A7RIII and A9 and shot many music live performances with the lower 4k bit rate and it looks fantastic on my 43" 4k monitor. I still only have a Panasonic G7 and GX85, but will be buying an A6100 soon mostly because of this feature which will save tons of HD space. I'd rather have 60kbps 4k video any day over higher bitrate 1080p. Don't start shooting 1080p.. just don't :) It's not future proof. Shooting a video about the lower bit-rate subject might make for an excellent video :)
The Canon 80D is on my camera list along with the Canon 90D
That's the best Star Wars T I have seen in a long time.
Thanks! I’m a pretty big fan of it myself 😁👍
Yes, old but GOLD :) F@#! YOU DISNEY!!! (Sorry I had to...)
YOu are so good!!!! I do love my 80D....it's just so rich...no explaining it...it looks like a movie...
I have the 80D. I think it's brilliant for the price.
4 months ago I bought an 80D off eBay for $650 and it's practically brand new with original box, documents and 2 extra batteries. It's awesome but there is absolutely no reason to buy an 80D new.
I want the Canon 80D along with the Canon 90D
Considering buying one today, thank you for the 2020 review!
Still using my 80D hands down is all u need right now
You are my go-to MacBook info guy, and I had no idea you had a video on my camera as well. I use it for photos and haven't really used much of the video functions, but it's nice to know it's worth playing with.
I’ll get the 90D when a 100D comes out 😂😂😂
Yordi Moran 😂
there is already a 100d lol, it's a pretty damn old camera
I have mine hooked up to the 18-135mm STM and also the 10-18mm, excellent results.
I'm using my 77D for a year now and stil not regretting it!
I still love my 80D!
Rocking my 80D since 2016, paired with 200D. Waiting for an option to add FF in a mix. Watching YT in 480/720. The most subbed channels are in 1080p at best anyway.
80D is still the best bro🙏🙏👍
How would you say the m50 stacks up? I am wanting to upgrade from the Lumix g7 to something a little more balanced between photography and videography. I didn't invest in glass yet so I was thinking it would be better to switch over to Canon. Would you say the 80D would be worth the extra $100 ish used?
Still use my 80D all the time. It’s a great family camera - I just made a video of my family going to the Toronto Zoo with it. The battery life is great as well (over, say, the M50, which I loved but traded for the 80D). The only real struggle is low light, which is much worse than Sony (even my old Sony a6300, which I guess does still have the same sensor as the newer Sonys).
The 50mm 1.8 lens is good in low light
which camera is shooting from the side angle? looks great
Hmm... I wonder how jarring it would be to cut together 4K footage from a Sony a6400 with 1080p footage from the Canon 80d
The resolution won’t really be a problem, the big problem would be matching the colors from two different brands.
I have a 6D MKII and love it..
I got it for $880 from canon direct so I'm not complaining.
I really appreciate your video quality and presentation! Awesome work! :-)
Great review. Thank you!
80D is awesome for photos, especially if you can find it used for $500, but as you can see in your own videos, it's very mediocre as a video shooter. I'd actually rate it below most flagship smartphones from 2019 onwards, where most phones started offering higher dynamic range in videos. If you're into video I'd say go for a used Sony A6300/A6400 or new or used Panasonic G85. Both of which will crush the 80D in the video department.
Would you consider setting up a small studio. When you do your video quality test. That little shelf or corner of the room could have brightly colored objects a color chart and a sharpness chart? That might be more helpful to me I think. Lens protogo does that, and it really helpful
How good is the 80D for filming.
That was quite a color difference when you were vlogging. It might be interesting seeing it mixed in with a Sony in the studio.
there is a big difference between viewing 1080p downscaled from 4k vs just 1080p, the former looks dramatically more detailed. Have been using 5div for years, the difference between 1080p and 4k downscaled is obvious even when watching on iphone. 1080p footage loses detail during distance wide angle scenes.
Downsampled 4k looks sharper because bicubic resampling increases edge enhancement. You can do the exact same thing effect wise to 1080 footage using sharpness or edge enhance filters, making 1080 look the same as resampled 4k.
Found one used with 2k on the shutter with an extra duracell battery 50 1.8 18-135 and 10-18mm for about 1300$ i probably am going to get it
thanks for your review, which both camera you are using for shooting this video ? Thanks again
I love my Canon 80D. Despite the APSC sensor it is one awesome camera. You can't go wrong with it.b
I’ll be honest, when I eventually get a camera, i am seriously considering getting a the 80d
It’s still a really great choice 😁👍
I have it, it’s a solid camera
Peter C Same here. Love it. Downloaded Cinestyle to help with dynamic range.
Into the Details yes!
If you need good photo and good video. Then I agree an 80d is a great choice. But if you just want to do photos, then something like a 6d used with some good glass is perfect! But if you just want really good video then something else might be a better choice.
I didn't quite catch what you were using to Video this but the banding really stands out in the background..
The canon 80d is really a great choice. I hate to let mine go since I haven't had it long but I've been getting into streaming with the cam link and I don't want to manual focus. If anyone's interested, it comes with the original box and I'm including two lenses, a ring light kit and a boom mic. Feel free to message me on IG for a quote. IG: @reali.music
how much?
Confused between this and the Nikon D7500. I will be mostly into bird photography and some video too. Help!
I want to buy a Canon Cano EOS 80D with a 75-300mm III Telephoto Zoom Lens.
Will your Canon 2x EF Extender II (Teleconverter)
couple to the 80D body and 75-300mm canon lens?
I still use my 80d for pro video in 2021
How significant is the AF Microadjustment feature of the 80D and 90D? After having spent too many hours researching as much as possible, AF microadjustment is the feature that makes me choose either the 80D or 90D over the 77D. I need to upgrade from an EOS XSi but still be able to use old lenses: Sigma 70-200 2.8; Tokina 28-70 2.6; EF50 1.8 STM; EF 18-55 IS.
It's a huge difference. I refuse to buy ANY DSLR without it. A cheap way to get it in the Canon world is to buy a used 7D.
@@robertmueller6979 I'm close to buying a 90D, but will now have a look at used 7Ds, maybe even 70Ds.
I just got one ! And I can’t wait to play with!! I am glad to hear that you like it 🤗
great review . thank you!
'Good enough' for You tube - is there any camera that can be mounted onto a drone and remotely controlled? Or a camera that has 'You tube' quality recording which can be mounted to a drone and used as a stand alone camera? Watched the Go Pro Hero 8 Black vid too... Great work.
What lens do you recommend for vloging good sir
Great video just bought this today
So no denying the 80D is a good camera, if a little outdated. Heck, I'd even pick one up for a b-cam if it went bargain basement, but I'd buy another Sl2 or Sl3 before I'd pay $1,000 for it. Canon cameras are great to use.
I got a 50d and 5diii still the 50 is my go to.
I still love mine
I will be upgrading from an EOS XSi (no video) and need to decide upon either an 80D ($700) or 90D ($950). I've read that the 90D due to its new sensor may have a problem with older lenses, beyond making AF micro adjustments.
New I'd buy the 90D. The 80D is slightly better in low light.
I got my 80d for $450 with low shutter count. Love it , now I will transition to the eos r. I know I won’t be able to use most of my old lenses
Fredy Primero lemme but it’s for 450$
where did you get it with that price i also need it
Can you please show how to connect the microphone and what settings so we can get crisp audio in the 80d please?
I am confused between buying a 80d new or used
Used is a great option.
Awesome video man, can you review cinestyle if you use log profiles?
Is buying one for $760-$800 with a lens, tripod, and backpack worth it in an investment perspective? How much could it sell for?
i feel i might of made a mistake buying a new 80D should i have bought the 90D? or should i have bought the m50 instead? or have both a dslr and a mirroreless?, help!! im a small youtuber and love video , love learning... please your honest opinion would mean everything, i have till the 30th to return it if need be?
I’ve still got the 60D is
it worth going up to it the 80D or 70D
Im looking to get a GH5. I trained for 4 years on the GH4, super pumped for the 5. But dont know where to get it in germany
I like my 80d I bought It right before the 90d came out but I got it on sale with 2 lenses for $1000. The only thing I was wondering is even tho the 90d has the digital image stabilization, is it any better than what you can do in post? I tried out a m50 and the digital stabilator was pretty much unusable with the crop and waviness. I can’t find any reason to upgrade other than to something that has ibis like a a7sii.
Is it better to take pictures in manual or auto focus and does the 80d have a fast auto focus
I love my 80d
Still love my G7
Nice! That’s an awesome camera 😁👍
I love my G6.
I still own a 70D.
tissue?
I still use it. I dig it. Also you can get a clean HDMI out as I have been using it since the crap hit the fan in March for streaming ^^
Thanks for you bro
I am already have canon 80d so please what camera should i upgrade to in 2020 for staying more 3 years
Thanks
Bad analogy, with the myspace thing
Agreed lol
Exactly. He sounds like a camera company convincing us that the body they sold last year is now obsolete.
You're not wasting your time and money I watch you in 4K
Wait you can use this camera for Netflix?
Nope. Netflix demands 4k these days
Robert Mueller what camera can we use? What about gh5?
I think even today 80s can be good
very helpful video...
What about a 6D Mark II? They're like 900ish used. 🤔
Is it good for making music video?
Can the Canon 80D shoot video in 1080i? I cannot find that option in the menus.
i just had someone ask to trad their 80D for my T2i SLR (not DSLR) any reasons why you think the person would want to do that?
thx very much for this review this review help me
Please Suggest me!!!!
1. Canon M50 + 15-45mm
2. Sony A6000 + 16-50mm + 55+210mm
with same Price.🤔
For photography A6000, for videography M50 (especially vlogs).
Nice one, please do a review on the new fujifilm x-t200 and compare it with the Canon eos m50. Am pretty sure it's gonna be a battle. We'll till then thanks for this. Consider the review though.
If you're doing old cameras do the GH4.
