The way I see it, anyone in a 392 or Hellcat know they will beat an R/T. That being said, it makes the perfect sleeper to put money into. Then just go race 392s/Hellcats and hurt their feelings
A 5.7 pro charger won’t beat a hellcat but for sure a 392
@@KanyesBigEgo I’m thinking bore and sleeve the cylinders and slap a supercharger on it. I know it’s easier and probably cheaper to buy a 392 or a Hellcat but I love my RT and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
@@KanyesBigEgo well you need to check out Modern red hemi.....he has a Rt challenger with a procharger and spanking hellcats and redeye all day long
@@KanyesBigEgo itll keep up pretty well tho. I'm at 8 psi and a 15 hellcat couldn't shake me till about 110
Yeah I’d rather buy a top trim level r/t and throw a blower on it. Cheaper insurance and it’s a blown challenger
I think both were great cars. I owned a 2016 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Shaker and loved it. Completely stock and was a looker so I'm a fan of the 392. What's cool with what you did is you made your RT unique and yours and that is very cool too. Sometimes its not always about who is faster or beating someone by "bus lengths" but just enjoying your ride and maybe making something special to you. Can't go wrong with either.
Thanks man!
Matthew Stephan challengers a beautiful cars, fast enough to have fun, that's why I bought one too
just got my 18" Challenger RT a week ago. I love it. sounds good, especially in sport mode. way different ride then my 13" 3.6L slug CTS coupe.
vanilla gorilla you loving that active exhaust? Lol
Great attitude.
Coming from a guy with a hopped up 392 (LT headers, 274 Comp Cam, 84 mm Arrington throttle body etc..) that dude driving the 392 - not sure what he's doing but driving he ain't! The goal is obviously for minimal tire spin on launch, I get it, but this dude was absolutely babying it. Take out the mods and he's still babying it. That's not the 392's I know.
90% of races I watch, the person doing the count, gets the jump. Man, the car sounds good. Thanks for the video.
100% of the races I've watched
Yes it's definitely worth it if you have the right tune. I have a 2011 rt stock 5.7 with full exhaust with a d1sc on 12psi and I walk stock hellcats. Went 10.98 and no bolt on 392 has ever came close to me. For one you need a auto. The 6 speed is slow. Mine made 580whp so yes it's definitely worth it. And I have less then 10k in mine. Plus I do the work myself
Got a 2017 with a 5.7L, what else you got done to it? I'd like to hit 10s with mine
MrYukon04 what all did u do to it I just got me a 2018 rt
U walk on hellcats eh? LOL
MrYukon04 nah tremec 5.7s are alot faster on a roll than the autos
guerrerok90 nahh 8 speed >>>>
For a real comparison, find two guys who know how to launch and shift or use automatics
Oof
5.7 ftw pro charger with a good tune on race gas would smack a stock hellcat. No problem.
@@brendanmccarthy492 don't be ridiculous - no, it would not. People get all hyped up over peak dyno numbers produced by an aftermarket system and they never exceed what the manufacturer does with a top performance package. There is the power under the curve, there is the matching of all equipment, there is building a true package.
@@jtc1964x you do realize the packages don’t do shit right? A 5.7 stock makes 390 hp from crank... probably 300 to 280hp to the wheel. Dyno numbers are the most precise way to get exactly what ur machine is putting to the ground.
For example a eco boost f150 is making around 375 hp and 450 ft lbs of torque from factory. Throw it on a dyno with a good pump 93 gas. Bump the timing and mess with air flow and boost. You’ll be in the 500whp for sure... it’s crazy. Even a 5 star tune works exceptionally well that you buy from the web.
Now you throw a pro charger that’s 5k and some fab work and some 100 octane race gas in a 5.7 hemi? Ohh gosh you’ll be in the 700whp easily. And those hemi’s don’t matter if it’s a 6.4 or a 5.7 you’ll get way more out of that 5.7 with a pro charger than you can with a factory supercharger that’s on a 6.4
Just talking facts... that 6.4 had no chance against the 5.7 doing shit yourself is always faster than shit you buy from factory... and on top of that.. ur saving your wallet by a good amount as well.
My 5.7 made 340whp with cold air headers and exhaust. Then the tune brought it up to 385whp. Adding the procharger gave it 522whp and that was with the stock procharger tune. Even adding e85 and tuning it I still don’t think it would out run a cat. It may do decent but I don’t think it could beat it after now owning a hellcat and racing it.
I had a 2016 Scat chally 6spd.
Mods:
Stainless works longtubes w cats resonator delete, quad tips, cold air intake, catch can, Diablo trinity with custom tune, @447 whp , and 458 trq, Barton shift kit, classic5 wheels toyo r888 315 rear, 255front. Petty s garage strut tower braces front and back , sway bars front and back, subframe connectors, and driveshaploop and tranny mount.
I think I would have taken you, it was consistent 12.4-12.7 back to back to back
That being said I enjoyed your unbiased opinion, being real got my respect. It's cool as hell and it's fun if there's a ton of memories with your car but I would rip on people, in today's I would buy into the displacement and have the ability to mod at your own pace while still being competitive and enjoying the car the entire time.
Eventually I sold the Scat kuz I wanted to whipple... but the cost made me pony up literally and get a 2014gt500, and that hammers home the point if I can u won't regret it! So either way props to the guy who can buy a 5.7 and pro charge it kuz that's epic, and props to the guy who went displacement too. Gear heads are the shit all around import, everything every scene it's all rad
The 5.7 is very receptive to performance mods. You can obviously add a Supercharger to the 392, but it's very expensive due to everything else you need to do to the motor to make it compatible.
Yea I’ve heard they don’t like boost as much as 5.7s. Mine seemed to be perfect at the 7lb range of boost.
Exactly, forged internals is not a cheap expense either. Necessary on a 392, not necessary on a 345, prior to forced induction.
Wow awesome video man! I have to do one with mines. Yeah I agree with you. Keeping warranty is a huge plus but at the same time, it feels good to have your own custom touch to your car and it has a sound no one else can mimic. 👍🏾
The guy in the 392 clearly is not getting into it on take off at all
Is that why he's crossing the line from spinning. It's ok to be sad
@@Ecoboosttookadump hes not lol. You be sad
He probably left traction control on lol
@@Ecoboosttookadump Obviously not an accurate representation of the 392's capabilities if he's crossing the line from spinning so hard on his launch now is it, my son? You act like he's being super defensive of 392's but it's more likely he's thinking what I'm thinking - he'd love to see a good race where both have perfect launches and shifts, to actually compare the two more accurately. I don't think any 392 guy is gonna be sad that a 5.7 with boost outperforms a 392, it is to be expected lol and we'd be happy for the guy.
Good day, my son.
@@99Eternal The supercharged RT is pushing quite a bit more hp.. doesnt matter what the srt driver is doing, the rt is faster at that point..
it's nice to see the little hemi being represented💪
Thank you for putting the car content first and including all the stuff we want straight to the point ( stop start, rolling start etc)
Too many guys start their videos rambling to their cameras and that shit needs to die.
Lol you’re welcome, I am guilty of that too just not in that video
That was closer than I thought it would be. Both are very nice. 👍🏻
johnnypro thanks man I was surprised too.!
Yea but dammm not bad for a 5.7
The 392 cant drive 🤣🤣
They both can't 😆
The 5.7 is a better engine to build it has thicker cylinder wall's which help when making big power
I personally own a 2017 R/T 5.7 Challenger, and I would call it "peppy" at best. Mine is a manual trans, with pretty much every performance bolt on available. (Minus forced induction) I love my car, but ill be the first to admit. It's a comfortable, touring car at best, with a happy V8. The internals aren't happy once you start throwing boost at them. If your wanting power, with a little more insurance of better internals, go with the 392 Hemi.
Stealth ZR2 I’ve heard the 6.4 has more issues with adding boost than the 5.7.
Michael Steele my 2¢ would depend on boost, and someone who is good with tuning. My uncle has a 392 Hemi Charger, with a Procharger P1-SC-1 supercharger, headers, exhaust etc and is running well over 600hp......daily driven!!! By today's standards, 600hp+ isnt a lot .. however....it's safe, and reliable. That's good enough for me. Everyone I know with a 5.7 Hemi (Ram 1500, and Challenger) with 500+hp have problems. A lot of horsepower is good.....until it needs to be reliable....
Stealth ZR2 no worries. I like hearing different sides. I’m pretty new to the car game so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can.
I feel the same way about my 5.7 challenger. It's peppy but not crazy. But it was relatively cheaper, way more useful, and much better looking. I'm just glad there is someone else out there that's not in denial about it!
As long as you build it right, there are no issues. Obviously if you try to slap on a supercharger and try to put 10 lbs of boost through it stock, you'll have issues. I know quite a few full bolt on, forged engine 5.7s with TVS blowers pushing 675-700 to the wheels. The bottom line is, don't be cheap about the important stuff.
U were spinning like crazy. I think u need to upgrade the exhaust/headers and intake manifold plus get a good tune and that should put some bus lengths on him. 5.7s are really restricted
Yea it spins bad first and second, I have long tubes and a borla atak. Your right it does need a good tune!
SUPERCHALLY are you running 295's on the back?
275s
SUPERCHALLY 22x8 right? I think you can go 295's on those. Get some performance/summer tires on it for the best traction
I have 20x9 up front 20x10 in the back.
Great comparison...definitely recommend starting with an SRT or Scat pack..as they have the 6.4 hemis. Pro/super charge will get you 700hp..
Tim Green if you procharge a 6.4 without building the bottom end you'll have a ticking time bomb. Those engines are not boost friendly in the slightest. 5.7s handle it a lot better but are still limited to about ~480-490 whp on the high side. Ultimately for what you'd need to spend you'd honestly probably be better off getting a hellcat unless you're shooting past 850+
@@PacoRobbins what all do you have to do to make boosting a 6.4 safe
5.7 hemis regularly put down 500-550 whp with LT headers depending on which blower you have on at around 7-8 pounds of boost. Steve White Motors has done a ton of setups with Magnuson blowers that all put down about the same in that 500-520 range and I believe the prochargers will get you slightly higher peak numbers but with a totally different type of torque curve. Totally agree though, if you have a large amount of cash and ultimate horsepower is the goal a Hellcat would be the the way to go.
Only downside to prochatging the SRT8 or RT is with a good tune you are on the brink of transmission failure then your looking at dropping another 5K on a replacement or an upgraded one. Then more cash on all the crap that comes with it to make it work.
TZG32 the tremec tr6060 is beast trans all u would need is a clutch
I haven’t read all the comments yet, but you should compare apples to apples, used RT procharged vs that SRT would be a pretty compelling deal. I would also point out that your power curve is a lot more attractive than an NA car, lots more accessible torque down low for fun.
I brought 2016 Challenger RT Shaker Plus didn’t go with 392 6k difference.
There were things I wanted to do and used that 6k to do it also thought can Pro Charge later and can get more HP with 6k into a Pro Charger.
I don’t race but you don’t have to win by car lengths.....a bumper is fine a win is a win
Yea man that’s awesome I’m sure you will be happy with your build
When I bought my TA the 392 was 9k more. Just couldn't justify the 9k. Figure I could put 9k into the motor and have lots my HP then the 6.4
Much respect on the channel, love the content. I own a 12 RT classic I been stewing over supercharging it since I got it new. Thanks to your videos on your setup I'm seriously considering getting a procharger now. I almost bought the Yellow Jacket 392 you raced but the insurance was insanely too high. I want to keep it simple just to give it an extra kick as I'm not into drag racing.
Thanks man. Yea dude I think procharger is the best route fast but still reliable. I don’t notice any difference in the car when I’m cruising either. Let me know if you want to see anything specific
@@SUPERCHALLY Hey Ik it’s 4 years late just hoping you see this and still have the car. Would love to see and hear some in cab WOT pulls with it! Sick car btw
Im glad to hear this because I have a project I'm starting on with an 07 5.7 block I'm swapping into an Audi A4 B5 chasis that I plan to mount a 6 speed to and I think it'll be plenty of power for the weight
Sp33d G33k dang you ever do that?
The cost of insurance would be my biggest concern. The 5.7s are considerably less. Boost it. Blow it. Swap in a 6.4.
It’s clearly beat the 6.4 392 he’s fine with a 5.7 pro charge
I'm not sure if you're aware but when maintained properly . a 5.7 stroked with a cam , either procharged or supercharged and chipped this engine I speak of will blow a Hell Cat and Demon away... Just a little research ..
Thats why Dodge uses a supercharged 6.2 and not a supercharged 5.7 right....? Lol ur hilarious
88Petry stroke the 5.7 to a 6.2 and give it boost and itll make more than a hellcat 6.2
I named my Challenger "Chally Murphy' so i love your username.
I wanna pro charge my r/t challenger just to be the underdog. See a group of street racers driving up to me, and act all cocky like “it’s a r/t he can’t keep up with us!” Then all of a sudden I hit the gas and now they looking like, “wait, who is this guy?!😨”
Good, honest video. He was hanging pretty good considering. Although, with better rubber I think you would pull him pretty good from a dig. You'll probably your hands full against the 8-speed 392s. I recently bought a 2015 Charger R/T and I'm on the fence about supercharging. All told I would still come out cheaper than the average Scat Pack prices in my area. Still, $7-9k is a good chunk of change. gotta pay to play!
GTwo yea man I’ve had some trouble with automatics lately. Can’t shift that fast. Yea I have 275s on the back just been nervous about drag radials cuz I will most likely break something but it would still be fun yea man all together mine cost 7500 with install
don't supercharge it just go with long tube headers, a 274 comp cam with vvt, add in a 84mm throttle body by Arrington and you'll be under the price of a supercharger, with just as much hp, and no potential damage to your engine.
Thanks for the demonstration, I have been thinking about doing the same thing, and I think I’ll stick with the SRT 392 stock.
Cool comparison. The a8 392 would have been a bit closer but still lost. F/I R/T sounds good.
I'd say it's worth it cause it's a sleeper no one expects it to be fast 😂😂😂💯💯💯
True story!
True
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Does your 5.7L have any other mods/bolt ons other than the procharger?
Thanks for the shout out! Sick race Hellcat next!
Lets not forget the reasons behind using a 5.7 block for the hellcat engines.
Uh no it's the 6.4 block
@@LorenKyleDiedrich oh ok, im sure those who designed it are lying.
Its based on the bore of the 5.7
But the 6.2l is a diffrent block compared to the 5.7 6.1 6.4
The Hellcat's cast-iron block is powder-coated Hemi Orange, and is nearly indistinguishable from the Apache 6.4L (392ci) block in all but a few key areas. Note the four plugs in the lifter galley-these are part of the lube circuit for MDS cylinder deactivation in the Apache and are not used in the Hellcat.
I have a 2014, Challenger R/T plus. But the SRT 392, has so much more to offer. Such as better brakes (Brembos 6 pistons), better suspension, larger engine, better sound system, wider tires, better seats. And it's all stock! So, it's not worth spending the money on the R/T, unless you are using it at the track.
He’s walking that 392 even after the launch.
Go ahead boy! That pro charged 5.7 is finally unleashed and that’s all I got to say! Even though I own an srt challenger 6.1 manual tranny the odd one!
Who installed your procharger?
I'm looking for a shop to put a procharger on my 2010 srt8. You seem happy with his work.
Thanks Sid
I had a guy out in Hawaii do it for me when I lived there.
Looked as bad or worse as a stock 5.7 going against a 392. I'd say get yourself an older 5.7 and do the same thing or go cheaper and some nos. I think I will eventually throw a 125-150 shot I have laying around on my 5.7.
I think procharger is more user friendly it’s bolted. Nitrous is for people who know what there doing same thing with turbocharged cars.
Why do ppl always say the older r/t is better for modding? What about the new 8 speed transmission?
I would like to see these races with a little more distance
Instablaster...
Awesome man . I have a 22 rt manual car and I love it … I’ve been doing stuff to it here and there having fun …
I've bought a brand-new 5.7 rt plus in 2015 and I seriously regret it. It sounds great after I put the Flowmasters on. However, its super slow. I can't beat anything. I should have waited for a Scat-Pack or SRT 392. But I thought a 5.7 was a better deal.(cheaper insurance and regular gas) I regret it every day. I'm waiting to pay it off so I can get a used Hellcat. I've seen some for around $40,000 with less that 30,000 miles. Go big or go home. I've learned my lesson.
Exactly why I bought my hellcat
Shouldn't put regular gas in the R/T 89 or higher. That's why your R/T was slow
@@bobbyphillips7594 that's not true. There are plenty of videos right here on RUclips showing that the difference in gas grade in a 5.7 isn't noticeable. I've researched it already.
Only if you race man. As a daily it’s great and enough power.
@@bustingyewls154 you're right it has been great as a daily. It just I get tried by Mustangs and Camaros daily and I hate being so heavy and not enough power to compete.
Love the car, looking to add something similar to my Charger R/T. Great footage from the hood.
I'm sure you've covered this before, but did you also do fuel injectors, cam, or upgraded lifters at the time of this video? Regarding the engine work, did you add the Pro-charger on and call it a day? If so, I'm all over this!
Just added the procharger nothing else. The kit came with new injectors and a pre loaded Diablo tune I added colder plugs recommended by the shop.
Are the bottom ends of the 5.7s better now? The older ones were weak. Nice cars.
i bought 2012 5.7 345 with 103k for $6500,
so all is justified! pro charger, forged internals, cam, soon
craigslist! and it was a cop car but its been a great car with that mineral mettalic cant lose paint
doing headers right now, and got the pedal mod and getting a diablo tuner
The 392 looked as if he was giving you a jump start. Just saying
Yes, facts, the red chally had a head start and jumped the line so if it was a fair race it woulda been pretty close
He literally missed a gear and still was gonna gap him
That is a huge performance upgrade that made the 392 look sad and slow from where I was standing! Imagine a bone stock r/t running with yr modified r/t that would really be a ass whooping! Needless to say my wife has a 2010 r/t with a stick and she is on board with pro charging it!👍
Hell yeah man! Congrats you won’t be disappointed I beat the crap out of mine for 4 years before inbought the hellcat and I had no probs. I have more vids on the procharger if you want to check them out
Ya for sure alway cool to see the under dog busting some ass
If you're balling on a budget and can get a good deal on a used 5.7. Definitely pro charge it. Otherwise, the bigger engine is always the way to go
balling on a budget. i love it
But it's paid for so yeah it's getting a hair dryer lol. The fun part is seeing a car come together and gradually make more power by the sweat of your own brow. Everyone scoffs at the little 345. But there is lots of power to be had.
This was almost 4 years ago. Now the same used 2016 SRT are probably the same price or more ($35k).
A friend recently procharged his and he went with the black one which looks amazing but after dyno he made 517hp and 498ft/lbs torque and after everything he did it was like 10k that's procharger, rims, M/T drag radials, suspension and dump tune and honestly it's better than a srt8 cause it's built not bought and it makes a great sleeper.
Yep I agree. It’s cool to see your build actually make power and no one expects it lol. Like was that a RT!? Lol
Did you have any problem with the pro charger? And how long did you had it for? Just curious cause i heard it’ll shorten the life of the engine vs if you were going to do just N/A
Zero problems, I had it for almost 5 years and drove it daily, raced it and everything. If you’re driving it chill the procharger really doesn’t kick in. I’m sure the re is some extra wear but it was fun as hell. Let me know if you have any questions bro
SUPERCHALLY yes sir thank you. I got a lot of questions lol. You got a instagram so i can follow you right away? I have a 19 rt charger..
RMI Hemi no Instagram bro sorry
SUPERCHALLY k, Next question is was it just the procharger or were there any bolts on. And how much hp did u gain from that procharger? They say if i put a procharger on my car. Make sure to put a save tune. Im just going straight prcharger then. I fee like its gonna save money vs if i do FBO
I had long tubes and a borla atak exhaust and made 522 whp I just used the procharger tune but with a custom tune you can make more. It cost me 7000 for the procharger and install
Great vid. Subbed. Also did you have to do any work on the internals, and how many lbs of boost are you running?
HEMIHEAD R/T thanks bro! No internal work done 7 psi
SUPERCHALLY Nice video bro! I have a fbo 8 speed ram that gets high 12’s on 1/4. My next mod is either cam or procharger but I’ve heard got to be careful with stock internals. My question is how long do you think stock internals can hold up on 7psi? Truck has about 63k miles.
Thanks for the video. I am contemplating the same on my 2017 RT Shaker... Any other engine/exhaust mods done to your RT? How much boost were you running?
Thanks
I went with the kooks longtube headers, borla atak exhaust, tail Q 50 mm BOV, and just the stock procharger tune. I was running 7 lbs Of boost and made 522 whp with long tubes. Let me know if you have any questions bro.
I’ve been thinking more and more about going with a supercharger. I have an 09 Charger R/T. Honestly would you do it again going with a Procharger? Any reason you chose it over say a Magnuson or E-Force? $7000 installed and tuned is not bad at all really for the power increase. Very tempting!
Yea man that’s pretty much it. I could afford the procharger and the guy was a credentialed procharger installer and tuner so I just went. Yea if I was to do it all over again I would stick with the procharger. Very easy to add boost if you want and maintain, and the power is really good
SUPERCHALLY awesome man, thank you for the confirmation.
I have a 2007 Charger RT with the Road & Track package. Black on black sexy as f#ck. Just turned 60k, garage king. I did all the bolts on mods, Comp 268 cam, upgraded the pushrods, retainers, and springs and long tube headers. Put it on the dyno tune a few years ago. It did very well at the track, my best time was 13.1 on street tires. Beat plenty of 6.1's, Rustangs, Camaro's. But now its go time. Car is in the shop now, 412 stroker, all Manley race series internals, Arrington ST-3a cam, Deatschwerks injectors, BBK fuelrails, Molnar forged crank, pistons, and rods. Clevite bearings and mains, Pro Torque 2800 stall. Looking for a true NA Hellcat killer when it comes out of the doctors office.
Nice that sounds super bad ass!
Ill be FB live at the dyno. Check it out
6.4, cams, heads, ported throttle body, LTs, tune. Better deal for long term reliable performance
I'm debating between stroking and super , turbo . or stroke my 5.7l to a 6.1 and open a huge gap of potential
I’m thinking about twin turbocharging an r/t, where you can see the turbines through holes cut out of the center of the headlights.
I have the 5.7 in my 2014 Challenger RT+, I paid 27K for it one year old with 5000 miles when I got it. This looks like a good mod, faster than the 392 and yet looks like a RT sleeper, plus going this route rather than a 392 should still be savings over car insurance...? At least have heard insurance really jumps up on 392...?
Yea total sleeper man no one ever expected it when my RT ripped super hard, and yea youbwill save a little on insurance for sure. Plus when you keep your foot out of it the drive ability stays just like stock
So I had a 2010 RT... just traded it in for a 14 SRT8. 6 speed, and surprisingly has a CAI, exhaust, tune, and an upgraded throttle body and spacer. About 500 rhwp. That's just from what I've seen. This car will absolutely smoke my charger scat pack.. easily. I just happened upon a pro charger for my srt8. I'm about to go smoke some hellcats next week. I'm already keeping up with them now.
The 6.4 doesn't like boost/heat, they'll kill pistons. Definitely get a proper fuel system with some overhead. Keep the torque conservative, run e85 if you can.
Thanks for the info! Curious about this. Do you have any concerns on boost level, max? I’ve heard that all of the rt bottom ends are cast and the rods are of concern when you start to mod big. Curious if the 6.4 is forged? Thanks again!
Preset safe on 7-8 lbs of boost for the 5.7. Any higher you should forge. The 6.4 are not forged and are actually weaker
This is EXACTLY the video I wanted to see! Just bought a ‘17 RT, and I already want more. But do I try to get an SRT or Hellcat or do some big mods like a ProCharger. Thanks for posting this 👍🏼
Cool bro let me know if you have any questions
Wondering the same how do I get more power 2018 rt Charger
I wish prochargers with install were still 7000. I think I'm looking at 12 with install and tune. Might be worth it tho. We’ll see after my warranty is up.
You've got a hotrod. Great move and the 15k you put in is measured in smiled per hour. Are there any drivability issues ? I'm strongly considering pro charging my 5.7. Great video !
I have a 2012 R/T and had a Procharger installed. It's set up for 6.5lbs boost. Went from 345 rwhp to 471 rwhp. 9k for install and tune. It took me a few years of slowly saving up for it but was worth it. I highly recommend it. Fun ride!
Is it completely stock aside from the supercharger or did you do any other mod to handle the supercharger?
Fun vid. I've owned a 6.1 SRT Challenger and respectfully a tune, CAI, and exhaust isn't going to generate 485rwhp with the 6.4. He'll need more than that to put nearly 500 to the ground. That's a difference of opinion perhaps, and respect to you for the really nice 5.7 you have romping. Well done!
Thanks man, I was just basing those numbers off when I did my 5.7 with the long tubes Cai and tune. I was able to get to 382whp from 340ish before. I m curious now to see what it actually is for the 6.4
I know this video is old, but , HE GOT SMOKED LOL
Very nice! I can't look through 140 plus comments to see if this has been asked so I'm just gonna send it. Lol.
What gears do you have in the rt 3.73 Or 3.91? And what is the 392 chally running? I put a 3.91 gear in my auto 06 300c 5.7. Thinking about a whipple next year if I keep the car.
Not sure the 392. It’s bone stock so what ever they come with. Mine has a 3.92 in the rear
SUPERCHALLY supposedly the 6 speed cars with the 20 inch wheels got the 3.91 and the cars with the 18 inch wheels got the 373. Looks like his are 20 so probably the same. Thanks for the info.
Car is sick love the information man helped see what it's like
Unique car and 6 speed that’s awesome great build I’m sure you have so much fun with it
Bro. You working that stick. Makes it worth it for me. If it would hook down low. It would have been a slaughter.
Hell ya it's worth it. Thinking about doing mine. What numbers are you running? Hp/Tq?
522 whp 476 ft lbs
SUPERCHALLY Very nice bro. Love superchargers on cars. I have a 17 Charger now but coming from a stage 3 Active Auto Supercharged E46 M3 with meth injectors and 700+hp. I've been thinking about supercharging my charger too. Your cars really nice with the blower bud. Definitely worth it in my opinion
Thanks man. I recently got rid of it for a hellcat. It fun but was never going to be where I wanted it and it was not worth the money. But if you have any questions let me know
SUPERCHALLY Nice congrats man. Thanks
One issue I'm curious about. I'm assuming procharging demands 93 octane? -- Just curious what octane each car was running. For me, similar horsepower without the extra $$ at the pump is a big consideration if it's a daily driver and could lend toward the idea of spending more money initially on the 6.4 "if" it's able to perform with lower octane.
Both running 91. Cuz that’s all we can get in Cali
very nice man love the car...was wondering if u did forged pistons?
David Tua Nope all stock internals. They seem to be doing pretty good, the tune is super safe and 7psi is no problem for the stock internals. That was my next big plan but I’ve decided to do something more extreme..
SUPERCHALLY lol how extreme. thanx bro
SUPERCHALLY do u think a 6.4 can handle 9 psi?
David Tua oh you will see it will be well documented
David Tua dude honestly probably not I’ve heard their internals are weaker than 5.7’s but I’ve also heard it’s all about the tune as well. To play it safe I wouldn’t go above 7-8psi. But a forged 6.4 with a D1 or a F1 on like 14lbs would be nuts, then you gotta look at tranny, driveshaft, rear. I know a guy who has done all the forging and is on like 14 lbs his tranny was like hell no so if you get that far into it you are looking at major mods to compensate. I’m actually going to feature his car soon
I was asking myself the same question with my daytona 5.7. You should consider 305/315 rears to help you hook better.
Gotta make sure the rims are wider too. Stock R/T rims won’t hook better with wider tires, surprisingly they hook better with stock tires. Stock rims hook better with stickier performance tires
test drove my first challenger rt today. I liked it and it felt like it had more power than my 16 mustang gt, but I know it doesn't. It probably had to due with it being a manual vs my auto. I'm thinking of getting a 392 SP or camaro ss. Now if I could find a place that had a supercharged 5.7 from the dealership, that would be the way to go.
Yea man the 392 scat pack shaker is my favorite! Just supercharge the 392!
Circular discussion. Once you buy a used 392 and put that same money into it you could’ve bought a used Hellcat. And on and on it goes. Built over bought gets my vote every time.
Except I hear the 5.7 can take more power than 6.4.
But why not start with the better platform?
Not sure what the srt was doing babying the throttle. Red was all over the place while yellow was all calm and collective!
Both are great. But I would take the 5.7 if it's out of warranty. And once you modify a car, that usually will void the warranty anyway. A used 5.7 engine can be bought for $2,500 as opposed to over $7,000 for the 6.4 engine. Then I can reinstall my pro charger on my 5.7. The 5.7 is way more plentiful and much cheaper to maintain in that regard. But if I were crazy about power? I wouldn't buy either one. I would look for a used Hell Cat and buy a extended warranty. That's my opinion. But I actually love all of the Challengers. Even the 6cyl. They are the best looking old school style going. God bless you brother. Thanks for your video.
Heith Watkins where do you live that you can find a used srt for $7k lol.
Over here in Los Angeles a used 2012-2014 srt8 in decent/good condition will cost around 27k
The best route in mi opinion is buy an RT and 426 swap it right off the back, those motors can take plenty of boost and you will be spending less money than if you were to buy a Hellcat.
@@victorq4842 he's talking about the engine..
@@victorq4842 I was speaking about the used engine. Not the entire car. Sorry, I wasn't clear on that.
I'm wondering if you both had the 3.92 rear gear ratio, or if your's did, and the SRT was stuck with the 3.08s, like I saw when I was looking at SRTs with the 6 speed '12-16... I looked at 15-17 Scat Pack 392 6 speeds, and a 3.08 was all that was offered..
I will check
2007 Daytona, cam, mds delete, headers, exhaust, torqstorm supercharger, intercooler, fresh air hood kit. 500+rwhp $12k including the car
How are you liking the tires torn? I’ve been considering it
Pro Charger rules bro!
I recommend you get street slicks, like ET Street Pro or the like and run this test over. This really proves nothing on the factory tires. You need traction! Don't get drag radials either, this will lead to broken stuff due to lack of spring action from the sidewall. This is a big reason why Mustang and Camaro guys think these cars are slow. Challenger owners aren't serious. Get serious! Get traction! These cars are fast.
I have the Chrysler lifetime unlimited bumper to bumper warranty best in the business if you keep vehicles a long time and put a lot of miles it's a deal !
your car sound so wild!
Awesome car no hate but i would get a srt instead of supercharging the 5.7.. dont get me wrong i love them i have a 06 dodge charger rt 93 tune intake and straight piped. So far lol
Just discovering you dude! Awesome Challenger, thought about doing this to my Charger. I hit the big red button!
Build it R/T thanks bro let me know if you want some info
Oh love your car too. Keep the vids coming
Subcribed...always interested how things go for those brave enough to do this sort of work!
Hydra Shock thanks bro
Thank you I am going to build a engine to out run both and doing my research and I need lots of information.
I would say a used R/T thats a good price and mod it better than a stock SRT. Mods for an SRT seem to be more expensive and insurance is more.
the srt comes with bigger brakes and and other goodies right? so I would say adding hp always leaves you wanting better handling and braking, so the SRT is the way to go. really dig your 5.7! looks like a lot of fun to drive.
Thanks man! Yea I’m really happy with it. It’s a blast!
You can put the same brakes on an rt.....
I wanna procharge my 5.9 just because it takes less room and you can use different intakes.
I want to see you run a 6 cyl with ripp supercharger. Those are making about 430ish to the wheel. What's yours making after adding a supercharger?
ROMEO I made 522 wheel. With procharger, bigger injectors, long tube headers. I would race one if I can find one. Traction is the issue I’m fighting right now.
Did your top speed increase past stock 145 mph from all the procharger extra HP
Or does it just make you get to 145 in quicker times?
The diablo tuner took off the limiter It went way past that
nice... whats your 1/4 mile times?
Never got to run it in a quarter. My 8s were mid 8,s
Good video will start following your channel. I have a 2011 with full bolt ons including a Procharger D1SC= Hell Cat destroyer.
Thanks man! Oh nice how many psi?
So answer is yes!
Thanks for the video just subscribed
