- Superchargers are a great and relatively straightforward way to give your vehicle tons of power. They don't require a bunch of fabrication or tuning, and are the number one way to get reliable power numbers without worrying too much about reliability. In this video, Scott talks about the differences between centrifugal superchargers and roots, positive displacement, or twin screw superchargers. The latter has many names, but all function virtually the same. Learn which is best for your vehicle and application and why that is.

I have decided on a centrifugal kit from procharger for my 19 GT for the very reasons stated. Streetable, controlled boost plus ease of installation. I like to road course and have predictable power application. I also don't want more than 700 WHP so it will be reliable also.
How did you make it spin?
@@thebiggamekiller6031 belt
Are twin screws not Street able, reliable and not have controlled boost? Might want to pass this information along to auto manufacturers since they use screw SCs rather than centrifugal.
@@msk3905That’s what I was thinking.
Since I literally use you guys for everything when I pull the trigger on the super charger I want I'll be using your expertise. Thanks for this well done explanation Scott.
At 1:01, he said centrifugals were the only option for the Fox bodies. There was the Kenne Bell.
nah, it was a toaster
Finally an informative video on this. Thanks bud
I have Whipple gen 5 positive displacement superchargers on my 20 gt350r and my 22 gt500 running E-85 w/ RPG built engines. Love the instant that torque.
I'm in the process of changing my modded 67 gt500, (had it since I was 16, 56 now) from the 427 w/ a Paxton centrifugal supercharger to a RPG built 5.2 coyote w/ a Whipple gen 5.
After that I'm going to do the same to my Backdraft Cobra, it already has a RPG built 5.2 coyote w/ a gen 3 Whipple. I track all my cars you have to change a few things and your driving style but you can make it work w/ your suspension parts.
I've raced since I was 16yrs old, I've had a lot of power adders on my cars. From a 8-71, that old B&M and magna-charger, Kenne-Bell every generation of Whipple's and twin-turbos too. I love the feeling of a positive displacement supercharger hands down.
There's no replacement for positive displacement (superchargers..) i just made that up..lol No matter what car it's on, take off is hugely improved..
I got Roush Supercharger in my 2020 Mustang GT with Longtube headers. I love it!
Thanks for the info. I plan on procharching my 2016 gt350 this summer.
thank you for your examples of what situations would fit the type of superchargers.
I love my Whippled 10R80 GT. Can’t beat that instant torque hit especially with good traction. Thrown a lot of Steeda and BMR suspension stuff at it but its my last mod the wavetrac diff that has made me fall in love with this car again due to vastly better traction and stability (still spin if you hit it hard in 2nd but doesn’t kick out anymore) than what I was getting before with the oem diff.
Thunderbird sc! Did have a 3.8 supercharger, which was pretty quick in its days
Nothing like a TVS on the bottom muscles 💪 and Goose Bumps ! I have a VMP Odin and it is a monster ! Good educational video !
Great video! I went with a Paxton for my 10 speed 5.0! 🔥
I love the vortech sound on my car 😍
I’ll be buying an Ess supercharger next year can’t wait
Vmp gen3 I love it. Instant tq and crazy fun on e85 with a stick
damn, i was really looking for the vortech supercharger, as i thought it sorted out the lag and gave the instant supercharger reaction/torque.
Don’t forget about ESS superchargers. Absolutely killing the market right now
What's ess?
@@gp5.082 ESS tuning, centrifugal supercharger that is easier to install and lighter than its competitors. Also makes some serious steam while costing less money. I made 700whp on pump gas with an ESS G3
ESS sells direct, the dealers won’t push them.
@@harleytakuachemode ya I’m aware. That’s how they keep their prices so low. Honestly the best deal for boost at this point
I have a g2 on my car shit rips
Harrop out of Australia has coyote kits and is working on SBF 8.2, 9.2, and 9.5 deck height kits.
ESS Superchargers too! A centri supercharger for what Superchargers use to cost.
Ive seen some supercharged mustangs that are actually slower than stock because of the loss of traction
Scott what about using the force induction interchiller with the whipple stage 2 for the Mach 1, rather than the heat exchangers?
My 19 challenger hellcat redeye is getting the whipple gen 5 3.0 stage 2 with 112mm throttle body and id 1700xds injectors....been 9 weeks and found out from whipple that there updating items in the kit.
i just did a p-1x procharger on an lt1 stingray and i wish the boost came on when traction was affordable..... the car is just a beast now and cant be controled
Can’t you just change the pulley?? How much power are u making now?
man I think ls2 PD blower would be sick. looks easy install.
The lysholm screw style is where its at.
...except in 89 you had the Thunderbird SC...almost 15 years before the Termi.
He's pretty much talking mustangs here it's pretty clear. Those are cool cars but were talking on mustangs. He said in the fox mustang days most people did centrifugal which is true and you didn't start seeing positive displacement blowers alot in the after market until the terminators which is also true.
Hey that’s my green machine!
Very nice! I'll take any for my 2019 401a pp1 premium 😆 🤣. 🇺🇸
Went with Kenne Bell.
ESS IS THE BEST DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR RIGHT NOW! And a KB 3.6 Rotory sounds like a. Airplane too sweet!
What about a 4x4 truck? Like the f-150 with a 5.0 coyote.
how would a cvt connection between the crankshaft and the supercharged effect the performance and efficiency of a supercharger? and how would an axial compressor supercharger work similyrly to a Latham axial flow supercharger?
Sounds creative yet expensive. May explode too.
Even with air 2 air car still pulls timing in hot weather
As it should, the engine is protecting itself.
@@BP-fx3qc yeh it's weak 60 degrees outside isn't hot poor design imo
ess ?
Torque over HP every day for practical power. Gimme positive displacement blower, please!
ESS getting no ❤️
What’s more reliable
Pro Charger and Vortech all the way😉
What about the hellion twin turbo vs Twin Screw for track?
Unless you take off with the turbos spooled at like 5k rpm, PD Blower is king.. Seen TTs lose many times to a pd blower n show up for the 1v1 once the race was over..
ESS is taking over
Ess is just for coyotes far as I know. We got other engines out there besides coyotes. Terminators and gt500s run positive displacement stuff 99.9% of the time and other platforms I don't think have ess. I mean they sell them cheaper because they sell direct and of course they make power just like on3 turbos make power despite being cheaper. It's a good option for coyotes if a centrifugal is what you want.
Why not use both (twin screw and centrifugal) + VGT turbocharger?
Because other drivers need boost too! Don't bogart all the boost my friend!
Each one adds heat to the air. Defeating tbe purpose.
@@grantyentis5507 Haha, good one..lol
I want to superchargecmy b8 s5 manual and I don't want to sacrifice the instant power that I feel when I press the pedal and I want the car to stay predictable... I know I can't go with a turbo for that but I don't know what supercharger to get😢
Get pd blower, not the turbo looking one.. Good luck..
And torqstorm
Ford Lightning used the roots blower before Mustang.
That's true, good point! -Chris
It wasn't until the terminator that the positive displacement market really took off which is what he was talking about.
The lightning and 89-95 tbird super coupe both had positive displacement blowers before the terminator but in this video he's talking mustangs and with mustangs you didn't see the aftermarket explode for positive displacement stuff till the 03 cobra.
Not understanding how to rochargers get more top end
Then which one is good for driving at high altitude mountain roads where air is thinner and less in Oxygen?
Any of them
Are you trying to make power or just have a quick daily?
Turbos.. NOS..
Man I would love a blower on my 2020 GT,,Just the cost is a bit crazy🤑,,maybe one day!..
Try ESS tuning. Basic kit last I checked is around 4K. After buying your BAP for the fuel pump and your spark plugs and custom tune you might spend around 6K total. I installed mines myself so that saved another 1K-2K.
If you have an auto then you are good. I have a manual so I upgraded the clutch which was 1500 and had it installed which cost my another 1200. I also upgraded brakes and rotors. That was a 500 dollar upgrade. Better tires for traction as well which was 1300 bucks. I'm still running my stock OPGs because I have no limiter on the car and I never shift at 8K. I usually bang at 7300ish. So that save me about 2K.
You can put the kit on without all the support mods and still have fun but if you do that you will want to build around the kit as soon as possible. All and all it cost me 10K. I'm still adding stuff as I speak. Car is on my channel. Hope you get that boost soon man. It's fun.
💯
Uhm, paxton has been around since the 50s. The 50s ford 300 had a paxton
My Mach1 can have 621 HP with a Procharger that sits in the left front corner of my engine bay? Sign me up! (after I have 20,000 miles on my 2023 in stock trim, thanks!)
Turbo
Let’s do both of😇😀😀😂😂
I have a tvs you still need to rev it to get high boost its instant torque at full throttle i think

I got Steeda "stop the hop" beginners kit on it now, along with Steeda H-Pipe....
I love turbo better
ahh yes. problems I cant afford.
Yeah, I feel you pain. I'm right there with you on the same bench I wished i was born into money. I was born with a if I wanted something at 10 years old. I could use the push mower. That's how I got it.
At least. They did let me use the Push mower.
Centrifugal sc are like the worst of both worlds, parasitics of a sc and lag of tc. IMO, go positive displacement sc or turbo
Can you tell people that turbos are also superchargers. They're all superchargers.anything that is forced induction is a supercharger
As long as its a supercharger and not a turbo it will be a fun ride. All turbo cars are boring
Bros never been a car with a properly sized turbo
This was a decent video I just found listening to this guy to be an awful experience.
Love my ProCharger P-1X...it moves my '19 Bullitt!
Completely new to this trying to learn. So pro charger don’t have instant boost right?
Not instant, but when you punch it, it’s there…to me centrifugal blowers are belt fed turbos…
@@teeghost239That is true. My ProCharger doesn't kick in until 4500 RPM! Then it pulls hard. But that's a long time to wait! Maybe I should have went with a PD SC!!! 😭😭😭
