    Important notes from a career bodyguy; sand in an X pattern (crosshatch) and always use a soft block to wetsand when applicable, but always rest your hand flat across the top of the block to distribute even pressure. If sanding by paper with no block this becomes the most important step because you will create “finger marks” if you don’t distribute force evenly, and even more so if you sand in straight lines.
    Also it worked here, but don’t practice sanding over an empty marker slot or headlight or badge etc (any divot tbh) because of how sheet metal is formed, even though there is a divot, many times the edges of that divot are ever so slightly raised. This means that you have an extremely high likelihood of sanding through the clear and paint on those edges; ALWAYS sand around them!
    Otherwise this was a great video and a fantastic way to get into a higher level of detailing, or bringing old paint to new again for flipping cars! People like shiny. A lot can be looked past if you have a sexy shiny paintjob 🎉

    It’s good to note that not all orange peel can be removed. What do I mean? Some vehicles have an extremely thin clear coat compared to to other vehicles. The orange peal you may be seeing is at the paint level not the clear coat level. Or the clear coat is so thin that you risk burning through. So be sure to check that out. Read the forums or whatever your favourite source first to make sure you know what you are dealing with and how best to tackle it. What works for this vehicle could be an enormous mistake on your own.
    Case in point the newer rams can be a disappointment on the level of paint correction. You can fix it somewhat but not all the way sadly.

    Good work. Word of advice as someone who did stone polishing, spend enough time on each layer to fully remove the scratches from the previous grit, you will save the effort of pushing hard and wearing down your higher grit pads. You never really make something truly flat, but the scratches become smaller and smaller until you can't see them with many materials

      You can if you know what you’re doing, just got to be aware of contact point and pressure level, some of the surface like vents, gap between lights and body, or the interior piece I like to do it w my fingers bcs I’d be finished sanding w the time I’d take making a new block that fits the shape

    Nice work tho after being part owner of a body shop years ago seeing that 3k and 5k being used with just fingers was cringe and a big no no and I could see the lines left from the fingers and we always blocked in a X but that works too, I'd give it a A- due to the fingers not the end result in our shop we'd tell u good work but next time use the block for the 3k and 5k

    If you've never done this, make sure you mask up all your edges, otherwise youll rub through and will ruin your paint. With enough experience youll be able tonstop before the edge and see the changea as they happen, then adjust your motion..

  • @Sam-j4p1t
    @Sam-j4p1t 6 месяцев назад

    It doesn't matter which way you sand as long as you don't over sand it. Circular motion does not give you even ssnding results. Just make sure you have enough clesr coat to play with or you will regret it. Do it in stages. If you need to keep sanding, then go for another round. Get a clear coat measuring device, it helps.

    Re-clear coating is recommended as the film may not be thick enough and may peel off with a single-action polisher.
