    The Takumi Sen 8/9 is such a beautiful shoe. The colorways and the shape make it look like a fast shoe, which it is. It's my favorite shoe after the Nike Pegasus Turbo 2. They fill pretty similar niches in both look and function and are much more versatile than a full on marathon super shoe. I've only worn mine three times since I bought it last July cause every time I put these on, I want to run fastttt (that and i have way too many running shoes).

    Takumi Sen 8/9 does everything. Raced a 5 k in them, ran my best longrun in them, and the best marathon workout. It goes easily to 30 k longrun, and I am a heavy runner. Its extremely good for gravel road and light trail also.

    I absolutely love my Takumi Sen 8s, which I picked up for myself at a steep discount for Christmas ($90). If I can’t find more at that price, I will definitely pick up the 9s for my CP runs and intervals. Great shoes, and good to know that Adidas didn’t charge much from the 8sto 9s!

    I agree it takes more doing to get into the Takumi Sen (I have v.8) but I’d call it a “fasten your seatbelts” fit. They feel incredibly secure and nimble once you’re in. I use mine only for racing (5K, 10k, could easily do HM if I didn’t have other options) so it’s not big deal to fuss over putting them on for those rare and special occasions!

    Awesome review Kofuzi.
    Couldn't resist the Pulse Mint colourway and snagged a pair for myself.
    Upper improvements may be subtle but when I fitted on the Sen 8, they felt quite narrow in the arch area versus the Sen 9.
    May be the same shoe but the subtle tweaks are a solid improvement.

      Did you stay in the same size for the v9 as you did for v8? I went half a size down in the v8 and that worked perfectly for me. The extra length helped me in that half size down so just wondering whether I need to do the same for v9 or whether true to size would be better this time around! Thanks 👍

    • @Supafloppy
      @Supafloppy Год назад

      @Nehal Lavey-Khan I stuck to true to size - as I have a wider foot. The subtle tweaks in the Sen 9 just gave me a better feel then the Sen 8.
      If you could go down a half size in the Sen 8s - I think you could do it again here.

    This shoe has a better foam and higher stack height than the Adios 2 and 3(Kimetto set marathon wr in the Adios 2) ,and the Nike Zoom Streak(Kipchoge wore zoom streak racing in Berlin with the insoles coming out). Those shoes were marathon shoes a few yrs ago and now the Takumi sen 8 and 9 are only considered 5k/10k racing shoes. Times have def changed

    • @over1498
      @over1498 Год назад +2

      Right, there’s really no reason this can’t be a marathon shoe, I mean people ran in far harsher rides for decades before the max marshmallow cushion trend came around about 5 years ago 😂 Unless, as I fear might be the case… the runners themselves are getting softer too!

    • @KevHutch

      Agree 💯%! I've run marathons in Mizuno Elixir and New Balance Revlite foam so anything with 30+ mm of soft foam is a world ahead of how it was 5+ years ago. I'm considering these for a marathon. I ran San Diego in Adios Pro 2, and they felt unstable in the final 15km when the road wasn't flat. This looks like an option for me (I'm 69kg on race day).

  • @nickmorgan5933
    @nickmorgan5933 Год назад +4

    Like you, I love this shoe. I disagree that it's not an everyday training shoe. It's nothing like the old Takumi ren and sen shoes with and without boost, which were very much racing flats. This new iteration reminds me of a more cushioned version of the old Boston shoe. I've been doing most of my daily miles in the 8s and loving them (especially since Adidas had them on sale for under $80 a pair around Christmas). The only downside is that the upper tears in the mid foot where it attaches to the midsole. The outsole, however, is surprisingly durable compared to how thin it is.

      The TS9 is the lighter, faster and more agressive, shorter distance pure race shoe, some runners do take it to marathon distance, but they are usually lighter runners that don't need as much cushion, preferring agility and ground-feel. The B12 is pitched toward longer distances, is more versatile, less aggressive and can work well as a more durable training shoe on marathon pace training runs, certainly for those that prefer a firmer ride in a training shoe.

    The sen 9 is the same with the sen 8 in same size or shorter?

    Actually running around with the takumi sen 8 on one foot and the Pegasus Trail for Gore-Tex on the other and the Pegasus Trail for is quite a bit softer and more comfortable. Not to mention being waterproof.

    What do you think better takumi sen 9 or adizero boston 12? Still confuse

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  9 месяцев назад

      the direction that Adidas is pushing the Boston makes it easier than ever to distinguish the two shoes.
      One is a 5k/10k racer that is also a great for marathon workouts.
      the other is a daily trainer

    "It is ain't broke, don't fix it."
    They say as they market a ridiculous and entirely unneccsassry shoe to fix a bunch of non-existent problems with natural running, by causing the problems they claim are inherent to running. 🤣

    I've watched several of your videos and you provide some very useful data, which is why I keep coming back to your channel. However, and I want to be as respectful as I can, you're tough to listen to. Your speech, in the manner in which you present, is not fluid. It's very choppy. I've noticed that in many You Tubers. It's like you're all trying too hard to be professional television correspondents. I guarantee you don't speak like that in your normal everyday conversations. Just be natural on camera like you would be when you talk to friends.

      I don't know what you are talking about. His speech is very fluid, not choppy at all. He is quite correct in his intonation and pauses, maybe a bit too fast sometimes but nothing out of ordinary.
