I couldn’t resist and just ordered them for 90usd. They will replace my adios 6 with the awful Lightstrike in the heel. LightstrikePro keeps getting better and better with miles. Looking forward to have it in all the shoe.
My favorite shoe. I cut my 5k time from 19:46 to 18:22 after I got them and my 10k from 43:47 to 40:02! They feel so light and my leg turnover feels so much better!
I love the Takumi Sen 8 for shorter distance runs at fast speeds. I also like to do strides, intervals, and sprints on it to break things up from long distance runs. I also have the Rebel v3 for the same purpose but it really doesn't compare to the TS8. The Rebel v3 feels way too mushy without any forward pop in comparison. I still like it for those days when I don't want to push myself too hard and want to feel the squish underneath but, most of the time, the TS8 is the one I reach for when I want to go as fast as I can. I've become a big fan of the Lightstrike Pro midsole foam. I have the Adios Pro 3 and the Prime X Strung as well and I like it more than the foams from other brands like ZoomX, PWRRUN PB, FuelCell, FF Blast+, Fresh Foam X, and Profly+. The Lightstrike Pro feels somewhat firm and stiff initially compared to these other foams, but softens up a bit after around 10 miles and provides a real nice balance between firmness and softness with a good pop and forward propulsion. The rebound is faster and feels more responsive to what you put into it. It also feels like I have better connection to the ground, which I like very much most of the time.
The Boston 8/9 and the Adios 2/3 will always be two favorite shoes and the Takumi Sen 8 is the closest thing to getting that underfoot sensation. I’ve also have used it similar to you and also agree that anything more than a half marathon would be pushing it. Overall I love the shoe and curious to see how they’re going to improve on it. Great review as always 🤜🏾🤛🏻!
In my 2nd pair. Best shoe I've ever worn, even better than my dearly beloved Boston 6. Fits so well that I don't even feel like I'm wearing anything on my feet but something makes me fly. Seriously considering to race my next marathon in it (but I weigh like 54kg)
lakefront route views videos never gets old 😢. I have seen some sales on this shoe 🧐. Maybe I should give them a chance 🤔🤔. Great review as always Ko 👍🏼.
I've never run in it, but I've been eyeing for 1/2M use since it was announced (33m of top foam seemed like more than enough to get the job done without too much body sacrifice). Finally visiting US from Switzerland tomorrow to pick them up (TurkDay) and will grease a 1/2M with them on Turkday. Looking forward! Curious if anyone else has 1/2M experience in these?
@@Run4un Depends on your size and stability. I did HM distance (personal run, not a race) and it was ok for about 15km but then it started feeling a bit flat. My right ankle wasn't happy afterwards due to the softness/narrowness resulting in instability as I got more tired. I'm 183cm (6') and 205lbs (93ish kg) so a lighter runner could do HM in this but going forward I'm sticking to 10k distances in this one. It's a GREAT ride though! Fun and light to run in.
300 miles in mine and although I will change them soon, I reckon they could do another 100. Loved the Sen 8 and looking forward to see if and when the Sen 9 appears!
@@paddywiggle mainly road, some treadmill, the outsole is fine, no pealing, no real wear, a bit of abrasion where the lightstrike is exposed but overall still very good and as for the midsole, still as good as it was after the first 20 miles it took to soften it a touch. Fantastic review, this is one of my favorite shoes recently. Makes you want to run very fast and despite the light weight it's extremely stable for me.
I picked up a second pair on sale.. TME white gold edition too, so clean! This shoe comes to light after 50-60 miles. Needs time to break in and the lock down is one of the best out there. Laces are cheap but those don’t really matter. I haven’t done any long runs in them. I’ve done 5 mile tempo runs and a lot of faster stuff. So nice on the track!
With this shoe I got 5K PB's back to back and it's nearing 200K and it still feels brand new underfoot. If this was another super foam that other brands use it wouldn't last this long for sure especially at this pace work. But I expect next takumi series to be at least 15-20$ expensive seeing how shoes got expensive globally.
Thought I'd missed a slice of time doing the NYC Marathon.... The thumbnail said Takumi Sen 9 ... Thought you'd joined the advanced testing team! 🤣🤣😅😅LOVE this shoe!
Thank you so much Kofuzi ; right after watching your video. I got my "green/ white " size 10 from adidas canada for $85 Canadian . They put it on crazy sales . WOO!
This shoe actually caused me some blisters on the inside of my left foot after two runs. I think the insole and the upper were kinda biting my foot in the break in process (many adidas shoes need some break in time). I have pretty normal feet, but these shoes are definitely very narrow, which can be fine for short distances. I ultimately ended up adapting to it and use it mostly for track sessions, which have been really high quality so far. Definitely makes you want to run fast.
I legit just got this shoe like a month ago, love it, I know 9 is about to come out and i saw runningwarehouse preview, it will be a good shoe but not worth 80 dollars more, can't wait to pick it up next winter when the 10 is about to come out XD
I thought I recalled Adidas telling me that they've tweaked the energy rods in the takumi for version 9. I bought a pair but haven't had a chance to really test them out, so we'll see.
Just got them a couple of days ago. I had a light trail race in them like 15k. The trail was all sand so I did't feel any beating on my legs and body! I had a max pace of 4min/km. JOMA is a Spain brand and shoes have a great prices and are good quality overall. I will see you in the next one!
I know some, myself included, prefer the Streakfly. For me it locks down better and the ride feels more natural. Would love to see you compare the two!
I haven't heard many good things about the Streakfly, it comes down to personal preference though. Most people I've seen just end up saying what's the point of the Streakfly when you could just go with the Vaporfly and have a better time in any distance, the investment is obviously a little steep, of course.
I got these in the Black Friday sale, and I think skipping the middle lace holes and lacing both sets of holes at the top of the tongue gives me the best fit.
I love my takumis but I started to wear through the lateral side of the heel after about 20 miles. The carbon rubber outsole started to peel up. I tried to glue it back down but in the end I just cut it off and am just running on the lightstrike pro foam now and it doesnt seem to hurt the performance.

Interesting that the Onitsuka Tiger had 16mm stack height and was considered one of the best marathon shoes in 1968 and now 33mm is recommended for 5-10km and maybe a half, but not a full. Is this technology moving us this way or are we softening?

Why would this shoe not be suitable for a Marathon with that 33mm stack height? 5 years ago, we were still running Marathons in the Nike Zoom Streak 7 which was basically a racing flat compared to the Takumi Sen 8. People have just gotten too soft with all these massive stack super shoes. 😉
I don’t think it’s a question of being soft. I think it’s just that there are better options available now for the longer distances. That said, the Takumi Sen 8 could certainly be used for a marathon, it actually has a higher stack than the original Nike Vaporfly 4%.
@@justintgoetz That is exactly my point. Saying that it is basically just a short distance racing or interval shoe isn‘t giving the shoe the credit it deserves. That was the key message in the video and ruling it out to be suitable for longer distances. And that is where I do not agree. The stack height is easily enough to go longer distances and the shoe is a great all around fast shoe even beyond the Half Marathon. I use it as a lightweight training shoe and have taken it on 20 mile longruns without regretting it.

I have both. I like the adios 6 for workouts and they feel a bit more forgiving if I end up doing an easy run or long cooldown after workout. The Sen8 is super snappy-aggressive so to me more “niche” as Mike says. Fior me took longer to get comfortable with it, but I’m a cautious age-grouper runner. 😅
@@kofuzi Although I don’t disagree with you, nowhere on Adidas’s webpage does it suggest the Adizero Pro is a marathon racer.. in fact, they describe the shoe as “a lightweight shoe built for speed”. I was more-or-less referring to the experience of the shoe. They seem (to me) to be built with similar philosophies in mind: minimal, lightweight & built for speed. I’ve been using my Adizero Pro’s for track workouts and honestly, despite them being slightly on the heavy side for running track workouts, they are UNBELIEVABLY GOOD! But I would never even consider running more than 10K in them. Just curious if the running experience of the Takumi Sen 8 *feels* similar to the Adizero Pro, to you.
these are racing shoes with a racer fit. so, a bit more snug but a lot more breathable. I'll also assume you are asking about Pegasus 39, as you didn't specify which year
I have both, the takumi and the vaporfly, Absolutely love the takumi's but for out and out speed the VF's are better, if you are buying a shoe just for a 5k race, I would honestly go for the vaporfly if i was you, but saying that, the Takumi is a shoe you can train and race in.
I currently use the Endorphin Speed (size 10.5) for 5K races. Would the Sen 8 be an upgrade, and does it fit about the same? I can’t try it on anywhere locally.
It’s listed as a mens shoe, but I don’t see a women’s version. But as far as converting the sizes, it seems that Adidas has women go up 1 full size (that’s what they’ve done for the Adios Pro 3 and the Prime X). So, men’s 7 is a women’s 8.

Just ordered a pair of the 8s with 9 just coming out these are 50% off on Adidas website
I think that's a good move
Will the Adios 6/7 be comparable to the TS8? Or is the Adios 6/7 leaning towards daily trainer type?
I have both. I like the adios 6 for workouts and they feel a bit more forgiving if I end up doing an easy run or long cooldown after workout. The Sen8 is super snappy-aggressive so to me more “niche” as Mike says. Fior me took longer to get comfortable with it, but I’m a cautious age-grouper runner. 😅
I think Laura is spot on
I just scored a pair on adidas website for $70 ❤!
Amazing
How is this compared to deviate nitro elite?
Got mine for 75 CAD , should have gotten 2!
Is it better than adios6 for workout like 10 miles?
yes
How do these compare (or differ) from the Adizero Pro?
one is for 5k/10k, the other is for marathons
Does anyone know how they fit compared to a pegasus or classic turbos
these are racing shoes with a racer fit. so, a bit more snug but a lot more breathable.
I'll also assume you are asking about Pegasus 39, as you didn't specify which year
@@kofuzi but if I were to get a size 10 which I wear in the 39 and turbo, Would that be good? I went down a half size for the original adizero pro
70$ for sale in JP 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have a 5K December 3 in which I will be attempting a new PB. The Takumi Sen 8 is a candidate for my race day. shoe.
Good luck on that PB chase!
@@kofuzi Thank you for the encouragement!
I have both, the takumi and the vaporfly, Absolutely love the takumi's but for out and out speed the VF's are better, if you are buying a shoe just for a 5k race, I would honestly go for the vaporfly if i was you, but saying that, the Takumi is a shoe you can train and race in.
I own these shoes, and hate them at the same time....but if I'm running a 5km race...it's gonna be these
you're all over the place on this shoe
These or the prime x?
I think the activity you want to use them for will provide the answer
I currently use the Endorphin Speed (size 10.5) for 5K races. Would the Sen 8 be an upgrade, and does it fit about the same? I can’t try it on anywhere locally.
The sen 8 is unbelievably light.
It's faster than the Speed at 5k for sure. I have run 5ks in both. I'm 11.5 US in the speed 2 and 3 and went 11 US in ts8.
@@Bodhished Thanks. I think going down half a size would be best for me.
Great review - I’m sold! I haven’t been able to find it for women. Is it a unisex shoe? If so, any tips on women’s sizing? Thank you!
It’s listed as a mens shoe, but I don’t see a women’s version. But as far as converting the sizes, it seems that Adidas has women go up 1 full size (that’s what they’ve done for the Adios Pro 3 and the Prime X). So, men’s 7 is a women’s 8.
Thank you!
€200 on the irish adidas website :(
whoa. that is unfortunate
Same in Germany. 😆
Sen 9!?!
Ahhhh, a typo in the title. I got all excited then. Love the 8. Great, fast shoe. 🎉🎉
sorry sorry. I've fixed it now
@@kofuzi no worries. Still a great video and thanks for all the ace content you produce so consistently.
Is it true to size ?
I went with my usual size 9
