Not long til Manchester!, my first marathon after a 2.5 year injury / COVID break. Lost all of my fitness and confidence (if I am being honest) but after cheering on the MCR marathon last year I decided to quit my wining and get back into it. I’ll get nowhere near my PB but this is all about me committing to something and “getting it done”. Hopefully I will get to meet you on race day. I did a reccy run of 17 miles of the course on Friday night. It is really flat - just a couple of bridges over the tram/train tracks but nothing to be concerned about.
This is my current shoe…and I LOVE the Takumi Sen 8. I’m no pro runner, just an average guy on double prosthetics and this shoe has been a game changer for me! Excellent review and these are now my super stable walking shoes. Believe it or not, the energy rods make all the difference for me as far as stability and ground contact coupled with the continental rubber/lights trike pro I’m back in the game.
Great to see your fitness back so high and a big SMILE on your face. Good luck in Manchester Ben!!! I was in Manchester a few years ago not for the marathon but just for a visit and I was in a place called Ancoats (North) and just behind a warehouse I saw two people going to the bathroom (no2) but not even in a toilet just in the street
Takumi sen 8 all day long , the rods give the sen 8 more pop, and personally will last longer than the squidgy streakfly which will bottom out far quicker , the only downside is it’s pricier but I paid the same price in promo codes so win win
I would say the Nike, but problably because i prefer something more light and not a super shoes that i feal to be too rigid on my feet. Have a great run 🏃
thanks for the review! looking forward to seeing the 5k race video!! Currently training for my first marathon in Thailand on March 20th - it's gonna be HOT!!!! I love the 1k repeats and a good solid tempo run, but find it hard to get the time for long runs as I've got a 6-month old son!! Hoping my fitness will carry me to the finish and my target of sub 4:30!!!
Love my Takumi Sen 8, tried for a marathon but at around 17 miles the front of the arch really rubbed into my foot. Such a shame as other than that they felt amazing the whole time. Had some of my fastest runs in them. There's a local twilight run in just under a couple months, they should be grippy enough to handle some woodland trails.
I absolutely love my sen 8, I managed a half marathon pb in them (1:22:52). I don’t think I would really push them to the half marathon distance again though,
@@PoetWithPace I could just really start to feel the ground by the end of it and I also got a blister on the tip of my toe and my arch (that’s more to do with the fit and my foot though). My last half marathon I used the carbon x 2, they where great but kinda lacked the bounce and snap
you said it is expensive and it is. and then there's us who have to pay more for shipping and tax. and that's still saving a bit buying online because in adidas store here, takumi sen 8 costs 235 usd
I'm looking forward to trying out the StreakFly. I've been stock piling an older model Nike as I haven't found anything comparable, but I think this shoe will be what I have been waiting for.
Great review as always Ben, I've held off buying the Takumi 8's as I've had two pairs of Pro 2.0's fail on me in the last six months. Adidas have been absolutely brilliant and replaced my initial pair of Pro 2.0's following a broken carbon rod, and given a full refund after the second pair also broke a rod. I'm convinced there's a design flaw with the carbon rod and lightstrike pro combination with the higher stack height. The Sen 8's look super stable though and looking at your footage there's no lateral movement of your foot on landing, so perhaps these have the better blend of carbon rod/foam tec. I love the fit and upper of the Pro 2.0 and the Takumi Sen 8 seems to have improved on that incorporating elements of the Prime X upper into this shoe. You may just have convinced me to give the Takumi Sen 8's a try??
@BenjaminHill22 it only happened with the Pro 2, one rod broke on my first pair which was in the exposed section of the sole. The second pair I had the rod had broken within the foam. The fault was there when adidas sent the replacement pair so sent them straight back. (They clicked when I walked in them). Yet I have a pair Sen 8's and Prime X, with over 100 miles in each of them and I've had no problems. Both are brilliant shoes and prefer them over my Vaporfly's and Alphafly's
Hi Ben, I just bought US 9.5 a pair of this but seems like its not true to size while all my shoes are 9.5, should I go half size up? because I feel it is narrow in the midfoot.
Buy the Nike one first run in it decide if you like it or not cause Nike let's you try out shoes even if you ran and damaged them you can still send them back pretty amazing they do that 🙂 it's very nice to decide that way , you can do the same with a adidas but you can only walk on them around the house 🏠 .
i will never run in another Adidas shoe again. I was one of the unhappy runners who bought their own Adidas boston 10, and was really happy with it at the beginning. it seemed super comfortable, could take on miles, and could take on speed as well. having run in those shoes non stop for about 2 months, the cushion eventually stiffened due to use on wet and muddy cross country courses, which eventually kind of water logged the sole of the shoe. I decided it wasn’t much of an issue until i ended up injured for 7 months with a knee injury that cleared up just as track season started. I’ve always been a Nike person, and that solidified my standings as a nike fanboy.
@@jonnygspot4 I think it's the main reason so many of their pros chose version 1 to race in......I have them....certainly no issues with version 1 but the ride isn't the nicest for us mere mortals......to me adidas is short in terms of having top people at r&d for road running
@@daveaskew2105 Strangely, the Berlin edition colourway of the Pro 2 isn't quite so bad for me as the og White version. The Berlin edition are flatter across the forefoot outsole so a little more stable. Still prefer other racing shoes though!

I just got the Takumi Sen 9 for less than $100CAD. Can't wait to run in them.
I just purchased a pair of the streakfly after a long search to replace my NB RC1400 , which is my favorite shoe of all time but sadly discontinued.

where do you find the promo codes
I love Bushy.
Love Trainers just as much.
Thank you for the review. I just picked up a pair on Eastbay for $80. Looking forward to using this shoe for 5K through 1/2 Marathon distances.
3:10 km is 19 kmh!!!! Awesome 👍👍👍

So cool you ran the Geneva marathon I’m going to run it for the first time this year and I was born there!
I’m running a half marathon this weekend and it would be awesome to try the new Nike. Thank you for sharing!!
I’m thinking of using the Takumi Sen 8’s ahead of Vaporfly on Sunday for Wrexham bakery 1/2 marathon…🤷🏼♂️🏃♂️👟
please, give another try to the Adios Pro 2!

Great video as usual Ben, would you not recommend this then for marathon distance?
This kind of videos is great! Keep up the hard training and the good content on RUclips! 👍👍
That deer was a monster!
i want a durability comparison between these two plz!
Great video and comparison!
Loved the review, ordered some Takumi sen 8’s to try. Also can I ask what Is the running top you’re running in? Looks ideal for winter.

Hi Richie, curious to understand how you knew the rods had snapped. Was it where they are exposed or in the lightstrike pro foam?

I would run my next 5K or 10k or even further in pair of Streakfly's if I could buy a pair !
Ben what do you think is the real difference between the endorphins speed 3’s and do you like these ones more then endorphins speed 3
What was on the crib sheet you were holding? Takumi Sen 8 stats or details of the workout? 😀
love your show!! good job!! god luck in your race!!!
Sweet looking shoes in black and white. Can’t wait to try them out myself.
review after 200 steps should be a stable section on the channel.
You didn't have a duff pair of Adiós Pros, they feel like running in ice skates. Takumi sen is a much better shoe.
I got that shoes as my first super shoes. I haven't tried them yet.
Would these be a good shoe for a 2 mile all out effort (3200m)??
Hi Ben,
Where can we by your shorts from the Video. Looking sooo nice.
Best wishes from Lake of constance.
Is the Nike ZoomX Streakfly up for sale in the UK now?

Ha ha beat me to it, was going to ask the same thing about the Arc

When the Streakfly review is live. Thursday or Friday this week I’d expect
I'm torn between which one of the two I should buy

he doesn't have the prettiest form, doesn't look fast at least on video but wow he is very fast
It's cus he is tall with a high cadence so his stride looks relatively short
Nope u were correct about the Pro 2.....the lateral bias is awful and very poorly designed
I underpronate and the Pro 2 exaggerate this. These shoes probably work best for overpronaters.
