I always hoped they would lower the stack height of Takumi sen for more ground feel but it's good they at least kept it same and we are getting new adios with full lenght lightstike pro soon which is my dream come true shoe.
You answered my question... I struggled with the cutout after 80/90 miles, my foot collapsed in too much... I shall avoid this one if the cutout is bigger!
Not sure if anyone had issues with the Takumi series, mostly the 8, when I ran in the shoes, I dealt with some blistering on the side of my foot since it was very light and the lining was very thin as well. I also dealt with the blistering on the Boston 10s as well. Takumi sen 10 looks promising though
Nice review Kofuzi. Thanks! Picked up both sen9 & adios 8 late last year here in Canada when Adidas had 50% off promo. Will be using either one for my upcoming half marathon this spring
Thank you for finally talking about the Sinister, I love the shoe and it definitely holds its own. I love it especially for hill sessions at mile pace (4:30ish pace) and feels fast without the interference of a plate. Also is great as a workout shoe as well because going from a Sinister to a spike or super shoe feels very good.
I find it difficult to run most of my marathon prep workouts in the sinister, but I think for 5k/10k racers and their workouts, it is quite nice. I'm thinking about racing an indoor mile in them
I'm basically a weekend runner and I picked up the Sen 10s a couple weeks ago as an "upgrade" over my brooks levitate pair. You're not kidding about the pronation thing, at first I was worried I might roll my ankle. But first run I brought my 5k from around 30 minutes to 25. So, works for me!
@Marco__xS If you have flat feet or typically over pronate, then yes these shoes will exacerbate that. That said, if I lace them up in a particular way I've found I can help reduce that.
I have the Sinister, returned the Takumi Sen 9 for it because i didn't like the rocker geometry or the stiffness. I'll nice to see you giving the Sinister some recognition, it's a fantastic shoe.
I was looking at the sinister when it first came out, but heard it was a tad narrow so opted for the topo cyclone 2 instead. What is your opinion on the fit ( understanding that you really like the shoes)
@@JohnBirtchetSharpe I have the Cyclone 2 as well. It looks alarmingly narrow when you first see it, I wondered how I'd get my feet into them! They're definitely snug, sock-like and the last is narrow. My feet aren't wide so maybe I'm just about getting away with it. I don't notice them causing any fit issues while I'm running in them. The Topos by comparison have a lot more room in the toe box, but fit me nicely around the heel and midfoot. Hope that gives you some idea
How do you think this compares to the Magic Speed 3? As a work out shoe and a budget racer? Really liking the FF Blast Plus with the aggressive plate - but wondering if I should I try the Takumi before getting another pair of Asics

Had to go for the TS vs the Sinister since I have a wide midfoot. Sinister was just to snug but really did like the ride! Love the TS ride and feel like I could take it to 13.1 for sure. 5x1 mile this weekend in it!!!
I feel like you can buy Takumi Sen 8/9 and you won't feel any difference between 10, or your race times will be the same like in 8/9. Lots of marketing but improvment is like 5% or less.
I found the TS10 a lot more stiff than the TS8 regarding the rods configuration. These rods are stiffer than the rods from the Boston 12, and they are quite similar to the Adios Pro 3. I didn't run with the TS10 but I guess it should be a similar felling to the Adios Pro 3 but with less energy return from the foam and less rocker, so I don't know if this would be better for a 10k race than the AP3 for the most of us (non Pro runners)
@@kofuzi My point is that every year we have new shoes models, but if we would measure impact of those updated models on our results (especialy in race day shoes) - it would be extremely small I guess (compering to last year model). Like if you would run race 10k in Takumi Sen 8 and Takumi Sen 10 I guess your result would be similar. Question if somebody wants to pay every year full price just for new color, or a bit upated upper etc. BUT of course sometimes there are huge improvments over the year but mostly those huge improvment we can find in completely new models (like vaporfly1, adios pro etc).
Takumi sen 8s are my favorite all time. I tried Adios 7s and they gave me ankle blisters with that new heel design and they’re so stiff making me afraid to get the 10s. Will the EVO 1s get a wide and cheaper release?
Same experience here; luckily the blister problem was solved after wearing the shoes for more than 30km and trying different socks. The problem was the upper, it only lasted 100km and started to break; I still use the adios 7 for long runs (+ 600km), the upper is torn in several parts but it doesn't matter. I bought the Takumi 8 to avoid this problem in the achilles, but I also have some Adios Pro 3 and they never left blisters, maybe it was the collar of the 7 that generated the problem.
@@rodrigogorosito4206 thanks! Good info! I may get the Pro 3s for this May’s marathon if I can’t get the Alphafly 3s by April. I ran last year’s marathon in the Takumi Sen 8s and my feet were hurting pretty bad. They’re great for a half or 5k, just not quite enough cushion for a full. Would you say the Pro 3s are just a Takumi with more cushion, or do they feel different?
I was thinking the Streakfly would get a mention, especially with the marketing throwing in it’s a dedicated “5k/10k shoe” on the website (Im sure it’s not the first shoe to have that, but it’s in that lane). The Streak has “5k/10k” on the side of the shoe even. Lastly it even favors the shoe…especially in that color way Im wearing right now. But I do look forward to checking out the 9 on sale for sure. Great video as always.
I find the streakfly underwhelming. there isn't enough zoom x to make it exciting. there isn't enough of a shank to make it rigid. if they called it Turbo 3, it likely would have been a commercial success. but as a 5k/10k racer, it's outgunned. like, are Nike pros racing in it? Adidas Pros are setting world records in the takumi sen.
I loved the Sen 8's but they laces constantly cut into the top of my foot no matter what I do. So I end up using them from time to time instead of regularly.
just bought these to use for my workout days while the remainder of my runs i'll be using the novablast 4s. pretty excited to see what "fast" shoes are like
I have the original Takumi Sens from back in 2013 and going to get myself the Takumi Sen 10s soon, I'm curious how development progressed over 10 years.
Accidentally found an insane deal in Manhattan today: Green spark Takumi Sen 10 for $89.99+tax. Other colors are still sold at $180. A sales associate says Adidas just wants to get rid of the color. Try your local Adidas store.
Just ran in the Takumi Sen 8 for the first time (yes I’m late to the party). Loved it and cruised to a 5k despite not really pushing. Starting to now believe the hype…..
@@luda3054 I'm not even that light im 170-180 lbs. I don't think you need that much cushion for running even long distances. If you look at shoes back in the day they had much less stack height and people were doing marathons ez.
Kofuzi, don't you think that the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and the Asics Magic Speed 3 should be considered for the same type of use as the Takumi Sen? Love the review.
I'm still buying up the 8s--found another pair of the Indigo Blue in an 11.5. Also, reviews said the 9s you didn't have to go down 1/2 size as they tightened the toe box--weight was reduced slightly but it's a wash since I'd have to go up to 12 (my TTS).
Question: I'm marathon training and have settled on Adizero SL for my trainers (I've buying them on deep discount on the Adidas site. I have Adios Pro 3 for race day). How do these compare?
I have the 8 and love it for 5k's. Sadly they didnt make the 9 in a size 14 so didnt get to try that one and dunno about the 10 yet on whether or not it will be big feet friendly
This shoe and colorway is gorgeous, I much prefer the geometric shaping of this to New Balance’s new iterations which felt a bit overboard. And lightstrike pro is still my favorite and so I’m so excited for the Adios 9
Enjoy watching your reviews. Only today i learnt that your surname is Ko. So Ko Fuzi is a nice name. Kong Fuzi is master Kong (his surname) or commonly known as Confucius. Good one 😂
How would you compare these to the topo cyclone 2? Looking for something that can handle track days and speedy fartlek sessions while not feeling awkward at slower recovery paces in between sets or during warmup/cool downs. Thanks!
Do I spot a warm and wonderful Path projects Top? I still have my eights which I bring out every so often when I want to feel like a quick runner ( well at least for strides) plenty of wear yet 👍
How do you feel like they stack up compared to the Hyperion tempo? I bought a pair of the tempos hoping for more, but was pretty underwhelmed. Looking for a shoe to do track work and shorter intervals in marathon training.
It’s one of the very best low stack racers out right now. Another I’d suggest would be the New Balance SC Pacer, but that shoe is much harsher underfoot and Ko has described it as basically a track spike upper strapped to a carbon plate and a very thin layer of foam, so maybe not the best up to 10k. I think 2024 will be a big year though of lower stack racers so there may be some exciting competition on the horizon (SC Pacer 2, Streakfly 2)
I think the metaspeed edge is a good competitor shoe to it, as I find the metaspeed edge + to be more suited to shorter racing compared the it's sky + sibling. I don't think the vanish carbon is a proper alternative as it is not aggressive enough for 5k/10k racing. I'm not saying it's a bad choice, but it wouldn't be my first.
Managed to pick some up at 30% off at the start of the year must have been on the 8th of jan when adidas had there post Boxing Day sale here in Aus. Love it good shoe
Love these reviews. Did you ever run with any of the older Bostons. My all-time favorite shoes are the Boston 6's. I am still trying to adjust to all of these higher stacked shoes.
looking forward to the Sinister review, sounds interesting. Would Streakfly, SC Trainer and Cielo Road not also have been competitors in the respective brands lineup?
SC Trainer? definitely not. perhaps you mean the SC Pacer. but even then, not really. it's a harsh shoe that I'm not sure I could race a 10k in. and conceptually, the streakily and Cielo road are in the same class/use case. but they are not comparable alternatives. I find them each to be too much of a compromise between a 5k/10k racer and an everyday trainer.
@kofuzi sorry, I did mean the pacer. Personally of these I have only had the Streakfly on foot and didn't end up buying it since it felt too thin for me as a bigger runner. But it makes the TS even more remarkable that so many big competitors struggle in the category and Adidas makes something outstanding even beyond it.
Are these the shoes without the outsole? I love these type of shoes. Need not worry about re-gluing loose pieces of outsoles. I don't put in that many miles, so longevity should not be an issue
@@parrotbrand2782 yup i think thats the one. But the models I stated here are the new models UA lined up for 2024. The UA Infinite Elite/Pro just released and I saw in another YT video that UA refreshed its running shoes lineup for this year. Literally hoping for a competitive lineup for their own brand.
@@kofuzi that’s great! just heard that they are refreshing their lineup for this year and would love to hear your thoughts, if given a chance to try those.
I would prefer to race in the takumi. the magic speed 3 can be used for 5k racing (I PB'd in the magic speed 2), but it's more of a speedwork shoe than it is a pure racer
Hey Mike. Probably my favorite shoe in the last few years - the 9 and 10 are next to impossible to find any where though - I thought I had scored a pair of the 9s last week in that NYC blue color but alas when I went to check out it was listed as not there. Will you be at the Trials next week?
I can’t to the metric-imperial conversion in my head and don’t know what a shuttle run is. But if you’re racing an all out 3k in the roads, the l Takumi sen is a great choice. It may also be a good choice for the track, assuming the stack height doesn’t disqualify it for any time standards you may be trying to hit
i had to choose between this (190$) and the puma deviate nitro 2 (126$) in Philippines I went with the deviate nitro 2 i think it is worth it since it is cheaper with a carbon plating in it
I don't know anybody who owns a TS8/9 for whom it didn't become a favorite shoe -- myself included. My TS9s are 10g lighter than even my Vaporflys. They're like a more durable Vaporfly. Is the 10 enough of an upgrade to make me get it? I'm just joking. Of course I'm gonna get it! Truthfully, I was gonna get it regardless of your review, but I'm glad the TS10 is a perfect 10 with you! Just get it in the copa mundial colorway next time. I think that's the only acceptable color for a Takumi!
I personally prefer the 8. it is the bounciest but least aggressive. but in my discussions with Adidas, they have told me that the shoe hasn't changed drastically over the past few years as it is right where they think the shoe should be. I don't really disagree. I usually don't make comparisons of the takumi sen over multiple years, as it is typically rather difficult to find pairs from more than a year ago. so, even if you loved the 8 and are wondering whether it is worth upgrading to version 10, that inquiry is pretty moot as it's going to be difficult to find any fresh pairs of the 8 to buy.
Hi Kofuzi, I work 50/50 away from home and have to use a treadmill when away, i have my 1st marathon in May and have been using my prime x 2 for my workouts so far, would this shoe be better for the treadmill ?, I did plan to purchase asics superblast as they have no plate but they are never available in the uk. Managed to pick some up at 30% off at the start of the year must have been on the 8th of jan when adidas had there post Boxing Day sale here in Aus. Love it good shoe
Should i get Takumi Sen 10 or the Adios 8?
Hey, am wondering if takumi sen 10 is capable for half marathon race?
for most people no
@kofuzi thanks! Guess will keep it for speed session training and 5/10K race then
Love these reviews. Did you ever run with any of the older Bostons. My all-time favorite shoes are the Boston 6's. I am still trying to adjust to all of these higher stacked shoes.
Boston 9 was peak Boston
That mid foot cutout is a sad news for me 🥲 what’s wrong with fast but wider/stabler mid foot
looking forward to the Sinister review, sounds interesting.
First from the Philippines ❤ idol

Hoping you’ll review the upcoming UA Velociti Elite 2/ UA Infinite Elite / Infinite Pro
I haven't reviewed an under armour shoe in a while. it's currently on my radar, but if they sent me one, I'd take a look
@@kofuzi that’s great! just heard that they are refreshing their lineup for this year and would love to hear your thoughts, if given a chance to try those.
How are you liking it for threashold pace or 7min/miles or is there a better option
ideal use case for this shoe, imo
Excellent review!! Can I know your opinion if this pair is okay to use for running with no socks on?
No
What mileage can you do in these? Are they durable? Or are they full blown proper race shoe (I don’t think so) and will wear out after 150km?
Hi, what would you with for tempo fast runs in training, takumi 10 or boston 12?
I imagine fairly similar. TS10 is just lighter and narrowly faster. I imagine Boston 12s (I have) slightly more durable.
Super Nova Rise is not on the adidas online store
have you tried other retailers?
@@kofuzi I'm silly in that I only buy directly through the company.
If you only have one shoe for everything, what would you pick? Boston 12 or takumi sen 10?
neither, frankly.
but to answer your specific question, Boston
@@kofuzii appreciate the reply. Thank you. Got hooked on your amazing reviews.
Asics magic speed 3 or takumi sen 10 for race 5-10k? 🙏🙏🙏
I'll be there
See you there buddy@@kofuzi
The shoe seems to have a higher stack height so can the takumi sen 10 finally be used for daily training?
It’s been the same stack height for three years now
Hi Kofuzi!! would you use this shoe for HM??
Would it be good for hyrox "Sled push"?
I’ve never done hyrox but probably no
HELLO SIR CAN I USE THIS SHOES FOR DAILY WALKING ? I HAVE FLAT FEET - CAN YOU PLEASE GUIDE INSTEAD ? WARM REGARDS
No, regardless of whether you have flat feet
Anyone else get bruising in these under the lateral ankle bone? I used on track a few times for session and the inside foot got some bruising
i really liked the asics hyperspeed. under $100 and really fun. short races preferred.
Can you use this for xc (mostly grass)
I’d say probably no
These shoes are comparable asic metaspeed eag+ ???
yes and no. mostly yes, I suppose. depends on if you are a Sky person or an Edge person
What is the minimum pace/km for this shoes?
I don’t believe in rating shoes by paces. It’s great for running at 5k/10k race effort
can i use Takumi Sen 10 in half mary?
If you’re very efficient
take takumi sen 10 for 12 minutes 3 km and shuttle run ?
I can’t to the metric-imperial conversion in my head and don’t know what a shuttle run is. But if you’re racing an all out 3k in the roads, the l Takumi sen is a great choice.
It may also be a good choice for the track, assuming the stack height doesn’t disqualify it for any time standards you may be trying to hit
@@kofuzi shuttle run: maybe like running in a circle from mark 1 to mark 2 forming the number 8 in the shortest time possible
@@kofuzi stability for ts10 is it ok? I once asked in one of your short RUclips videos and said ts9 was okay
@@kofuzi Shuttle Run Test (20 m SRT)
about that
@@kofuzi for a 400m track and a dirt field, is that okay?
Hope to buy a pair of Takumi Sen 10 probably if they get 50 percent sale in Adidas store. :)
It literally has the number 33 embossed in the side of the shoe. You can see it in my video
I cannot comment on why a Brazilian website has published something. I have no idea the context nor have I seen that
@@kofuzi @kofuzi Hummmmmm... é bem sutil o número, valeu pela observação.
Can we use this for daily walking?
I would not recommend it
@@kofuzi I'm fxcked I just bought one
On the Australian adidas website. The 9 is $280 and the 10 is $270. Pretty weird
everything is upside down in Australia, it seems
i had to choose between this (190$) and the puma deviate nitro 2 (126$) in Philippines
I went with the deviate nitro 2
i think it is worth it since it is cheaper with a carbon plating in it
Glad to hear you found something that is working for you!
Thank you man @@kofuzi
Is this good for heavy and beginner runners?
no
Thanks for answering I was about to buy this. What would you recommend?
why do i feel like i pronate more in version 10 than in v8? does anyone else feel the same, or is it just me?
oh, i see, you already addressed that in your video... too impatient 🙂 but then again i'm not sure it's just the cut-out... but i'm no expert...
I think it's the cutout
I don't know anybody who owns a TS8/9 for whom it didn't become a favorite shoe -- myself included. My TS9s are 10g lighter than even my Vaporflys. They're like a more durable Vaporfly. Is the 10 enough of an upgrade to make me get it? I'm just joking. Of course I'm gonna get it! Truthfully, I was gonna get it regardless of your review, but I'm glad the TS10 is a perfect 10 with you! Just get it in the copa mundial colorway next time. I think that's the only acceptable color for a Takumi!
thanks Kofuzi, it will be more interesting if you review the alphafly 3.. and some nike shoes 😅
I think he has a thing where he doesn’t want to review Nike anymore, idk if he still boycotting them since it’s been a while
Just scored some Sen 9's at a good discount so probably next season for me on the 10's. :)
Hate the heel blinker 😅
Which one your size for these shoes?
I use my usual running shoe size
Pls review ASICS gel Kayano 30 series 🔥
I generally do not review stability shoes
I got today yeay, will use another 10k race soon in Dubai. 👍👍
good luck in your race!
@@kofuzibtw can we use for HM or FM for this shoes??
I doubt I got four runs out of the 9 before the back outsole collapsed like paper mache. This looks to be a bit more robust.
sen 8 , 9 or 10? comparison?
Thanks
Dear what's the price in India
I'm afraid I don't keep up to date on global pricing. I suggest going to Adidas.co.in
@@kofuzi sure I will sir
But why afraid man
