When I got involved with knife making and my own youtube channel I found Sandy’s site very soon. Very soon I also bumbed into this other site Wiltshire Man …and wait a minute…! The same guy !!! making other kind of videos, camping etc. Since then Sandy has filled up my youtube world very well! Thank you Sandy for all these years 💙👍🏻👋🏻🇫🇮 Osmo
I've been subscribed to your channel for months now. I'm a keen cyclist and enjoyed your cycling adventures. I'm also a keen bushcrafter, but had no idea you made knives! I can see why they are in demand, that is a beauty you created :)
Hi Sandy. Glad I got mine when I did... still has pride of place in my collection..... will be in touch soon for a new commission. Greetings from the frozen Rhein Valley.
Craftsmanship at its finest Sandy. Another beautiful knife. I know at the moment you’re not taking orders but I’d love to buy a matching classic and wasp. I keep checking the website but missed out on a few knives now. Keep up the great work.
I did the same thing back in 2016, just remember that it takes 2-3 weeks to make them and when he says "I am gonna start a new batch in a few days" you'll know about when to check the website periodically and you'll get lucky like I did. Good Luck to you Paul!
I dread to think the cost of these , like a stradivarius violin. Tremendous attention to detail and what a product. Craftsmanship is something society and history used to appreciate. I hope the human aspect of making things which brings a lot of joy to both maker and user is not forgotten in a world of cheap mass produced really average clutter. I know we should all use them but I also hope some will not get battered so we can show that not everything in the uk post millennium was cheap imported junk. Hats offs to a master craftsman.
That is amazing , you clearly put a lot of work into making it , when I bought my grizzly what I found hard was trying to understand the different hardness’s of the steel etc ,I read about it but am still none the wiser 🤔👍
It's a bit of a science, I have a Rockwell tester here so can test every blade. The Rockwell scale is exponential which means a 59Hrc knife is a lot harder than a 58Hc, in the old days a knife was considered good if it made 55Hrc
Sandy, I'm one of those people who didn't know this about you now, I love you more than ever craftsmanship means more to me than anything this is a wonderful presentation thank you for sharing I'll be on the website as well
I did it the other way round. I knew about the knives before I realised you were on RUclips, then saw the knife making before the rest. I hadn't realised you had started making them again.
There’s the coke bottle handle that is good and then there’s the Jacklore handle and you reach an all other level. It’s the first time I see one of these handle close enough to kind of appreciate it without having hold one and I am blown away. Now I understand why all bushcraft knives are compared to it, the refinement is present in every line. Sir, you have set the reference others only dream of.
It is so nice to read through all of the comments that are from folk who did not know that that Sandy was such a talented craftsman. Whether you have an interest in Bushcraft and knifemaking or not, as long as you have an interest in hand made things and things "made to last, you will find his Jacklore videos completely fascinating.
I love my Jacklore Wasp. Sandy delivered it to me in Shrivenham personally on his motorbike. Facinating to see how much skilled work goes into them. I'm hoping to go on a wild camp with Sandy soon .
Be so good to get oot n boot I myself am just getting started n it wood be really great to have a gooood knife to have confidence in. I am or have been involved with knives all my life, this came with my profession of being a fish merchants son thus having handled one or two along the way! #AKnifeForLife !! Wonder what that particular knife went for ?? Greetings from Cumbria
I have followed Sandy for years now from when he made his first knife in the garden in a wok,,his expertise has grown to an unbeatable standard and only wish I had the money to get a knife but alas my budget wont allow it,,All the best Sandy and one day when I win the lottery I will get one,
I’ve been following your vlogs now for some time, very inspiring. My mates and I live in Swindon and regularly go camping off of our motorcycles. We have access to some local woodland near blunsdon.would you and your biker mate be interested in camping out/talking bikes/bushcraft/knives, etc. ???When the weather finally breaks😆
Lovely to see Hand made craft here locally! We as society have lost the ability to make and create so many objects! So it's wonderful to see this! Lovely work!
Some of these are my favourite vids Sandy. The craftsmanship and knowledge time and care put into each knife is phenomenal.Anyone who buys one is never going to get a finer blade for their money.Id have loved one 30 years ago lol.I manage quiet well with my Mora now in my twighlight years and trust me mine are well abused and still usable.Take care stay safe hope Mandy is recovering in comfort.Kind Regards Tony
It's nice to watch a craftsman at work. quality work takes time. and your work shows that. great video Sandy. I hope Mandy's leg is mending well and with little or no pain. pass along my regards please. And as the saying goes! 73 Gud dx ! de Ellis WA1RKS
I didn’t know you made knives, you’re a man of many talents 👍. I have all purpose grizzly camping knife , took me a while to save up for it I hope to put it into practice as I’ve been learning camping skills of RUclips some from you.
Hi Donna, yes I build knives on a small scale, usually finish around 12 each month and have been doing it for 12 years now so I reckon I've now built around 1728 knives to date :) I think I shall always build them even in my dotage but I am beginning to slow down a bit now. I have a RUclips channel devoted to the knife making www.youtube.com/@Jackloreknives
Great video Sandy, I first watched your camping videos, then I saw you ride bikes and now I find that you are a craftsman. I'd love one of your knives, they look superb.
I have a friend that engraves firearms. I can watch him work all day and never want to touch the finished product as I would be afraid to drop it. Watching you make a knife and the care you put into the making of it I would say I wouldn't want to take it into the field, BUT. You make a quality product for working in the field. Quality has a price and if you have to look at the price and wonder if it is worth it you should buy one from the grocery store. If you want a quality product you go to a craftsman. Sandy you are a craftsman. And to think I started watching your videos because you are an Amateur Radio operator. Man of many talents.!!!
I think you have to be in the right place in your head to have the patience to do such a fine job. You do some mighty fine work, sir. Thanks for the look into your craft.
Slow and steady sandy Mandy needs Looking after as well. Hope you will be able to get out soon as we know you don’t like having your wings clipped too much. 😊👍♥️ love to all the family hope Mandy has a speedy recovery 👍👍👍
