    Another good one buddy. The difference between this one and my nights out...I'm like a ninja on Redbull...tarp and hammock away, underquilt and top quilt away, alcohol or gas stove away, area set fair and gone...but when it comes yo ultimate comfort, this type of camping you've got the ultimate comfort, with all mod cons. Takes longer to set up and pack away, but what a night. Sooo good to see you set fair, leaving no trace and loving that barrow...makes life so much easier. Good listening to the rain and hearing the different wildlife...far cry from where I am...different birds and not as interesting sometimes, no deer where I am, have to travel further out, as only 2 doors away from SE London

      Wheelbarrow Man... Yeah, it's got a ring to it Noel:) Haaha. Hope your doing well.
      I have been Tent buying. Brought two recently. A snugpack Ionophere but decided it was too draughty for winter use so will save it for the warmer months, and a Helm Compact one which has been described as a Hilleberge Soulo killer. It's not as well made as a Hilleberge though but has a solid inner for draught free camping in Winter and everyone who has one is very pleased with it. :)

    Your Braver than me Sandy; In heavy Wind I look for a Hedge Row to Pitch Behind. Two Reasons I don't camp in woods is the obvious dead fall,. 2nd is the rain; Trees gather as much moisture to pore onto their routes so after a short false umbrella dry spell, all of a sudden rain reaches the forest floor soddens & softens the routs = The dreaded widow makers. Your a Very Brave Man Sandy. Great Video but please stay safe.

    Reminds me of hunting feral hogs, mourning doves, wild turkeys, white tailed deer, and alligators with my uncles when I was 7 years old. We would often turn the entrails into sausages and the meat into jerky. The bones can be uses for tools and grips. 30-06, 12ga, and .223 were common cartridges although .357 revolvers, machetes, and crude lances were useful sidearms in case the shots missed or the firearms jammed. I tend to add chopped onions, chopped celery, diced bell peppers, and molasses to baked beans.

    If you have trouble sleeping get a good seam sealed tent with full rainfly and camp in the rain. If you can't sleep with the sound of rain on the tent you're doomed to a life of little sleep. Great video , keep them coming. Here's a thought for a video. Show the not so glamorous side of a camping trip and show the cleanup and maintenance of your equipment when you return home.

    There just aren't too many things more soothing and relaxing than listening to rain on the roof of a tent or shelter in the woods Sandy. It is usually not very enjoyable to pack up the wet gear the next morning however. But overall, the price that is paid usually is more than worth the effort. Seeing you using those old oil lamps has inspired me to acquire a few myself. They are definitely fascinating and worthwhile to use in my opinion. I have used them while camping and while just sitting out in my back yard during the warmer weather. Thank you for the inspiration. And as always, thanks for sharing what you are up to my friend. It is always interesting and enjoyable, see you on the next one.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  2 года назад +1

      Hi Terry
      These old lamps are very reliable but some of the cheaper brands are better off being avoided. Mine are all Feuerhand German built and with care will last a long time, I think Dietz make a similar lamp also.
      The tent got soaked and takes a couple of days to dry out but it's something that must be done. I have used my gear many times and it's still good as new, so it pays to look after your kit:)

    Brilliant production. Great camp. Proper camping. Reminds a bit of when I was a Scout in the 60s when scouts did this kind of camping. 👌

    Nice damp camp there. Lots of wildlife too, which is nice this time of year. Those fishing barrows are useful for all sorts. I have a similar one.

    Good to see you out again Sandy, I have spent my Sunday up my local wood. I was up and out before sun rise I like to get to the woods and watch as the night time slips away and the day begins. A magical time of day any time of year , even if it was raining and really soggy underfoot. Out looking for some camp spots for my next few trips out which I hope to get in up to Christmas. I see you kept the good grub selection going mate, in your little woodland pad and I'd give you a good 8 out of ten for a woodland meal, beats ration pack or dehydrated.
    Another good camp Sandy, really enjoyed your company for the half hour, thanks for taking us along. Regards to one and all in the house of the Wiltshire man, Big thumbs up.

      Hi Moosey thanks. Yes watching a new day break in the woodlands is a magical thing. I'll have to check out your channel to see if you record any camps/ experiences. Ration pack food is OK but cooking fresh food(if it can be called that) is probably better:)

I love to hear it on the roof above my bed when I go to sleep at night. thing is , it's so soothing and relaxing it puts me to sleep too soon to enjoy more or it! That Teri acki stir fry looked amazing Sandy. thanks again for another great outing and adventure. 73 CUDTL??? de Ellis WA1RKS

      Hi, Well there are just so many options out there for cooking pots and stoves, all I can suggest is to take your time and watch a few other youtubers and see what you think will suit your situation and need the best. I have always found Trangia stoves and cookers to be good, but perhaps not super lightweight of packable unless you go for the folding Trangia Triangle. These stoves use Meths as fuel and no moving parts or jets to clog.

    Good to see you're still getting out, Sandy. I thought you organised the weather perfectly; no rain whilst you were setting-up and striking camp but still able to enjoy the sound of rain on the tent and wind in the tree tops whilst tucked-up. The only thing missing was Carmen.

    Hi Sandy, nice to see some fishing items coming into your camping videos 👍 as a fisherman those fishing barrows make light work of moving gear and I have a fishing chair just like the one you have bought 🎣🐟😊
    Why didn't you put that huge rucksack onto the barrow instead of carrying it on your back 🤔

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  2 года назад

      Hi Chris,
      It's a very useful piece of kit. I didn't want to overload the little barrow, so kept a few bulky items in my pack. The barrow did still carry most of the load though

    Lovely camp out Sandy. I am curious how you knew the wick needed replacing. Could you turn it upside down and use the other end or was it just too short?( Just bought a Feuerhand baby for Als christmas) and dont really know much about them.
    I have also ventured into hot tent camping and the stove is amazing. So hot when so cold and wet outside. Waiting for some good snow for a camp out and want to try pulling my stuff on a sledge,( because I have so much gear) but love that wheel barrow idea. The Cairngorms were covered last weekend so it might not be too long!

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  2 года назад +2

      Hi Mary,
      My old lamp suffered from a flareup then went out so I thought it must be the wick as I did replace the old wick with a wick I brought from amazon, it was a bit of a loose fit. So now I have some proper Feuerhand wicks, they are tighter and a bit fiddly to install. The lamp ran fine until I had it close to the stove and things heated up a bit. Then the Flareup happened again. I think what was happening was the paraffin was vapourising too much and consuming what oxygen was available to support the flame leading to the lamp self extinguishing.
      I didn't realise how hot the body of the lamp became until I picked it up, I had it about 18 inches away from the stove but on the side where there is a glass panel.
      This has taught me two things.
      Always keep the lamp away from a heat source and also how safe these old lamps are! They will self regulate and extinguish if they become too hot

    I don't think I'd have bothered with the super noodles seasoning packet when the stir-fry sauce would be flavouring the whole dish anyway.
