I get asked a lot of questions about gear etc so I'll try and answer some here:
Camping equipment:
Shelter Backwoods Bungalow V2 by OneTigris
Cloudbase sleeping mat by Alpkit
Apogy quilt by Thermarest
Cosco quilt, I brought mine on Amazon but they are not always available
Fuerhand Baby Lantern (available widely online)
Cooking
Folding Firebox stove (Titanium model) Highly recommended. Also the Stainless steel version is great but twice the weight and a quarter the cost.
Emerald Australian black iron pan with folding handle.
This was a gift from a kind RUclips subscriber who lives in Australia
MSR nesting stainless steel pans with pot grabber
Clothing
Swedish army smock
Swedish army LK35 backpack
Boots by Lowa, a kind gift from a great friend:)
Cutting tools
Bahco Laplander pruning saw (Widely available on line)
Jacklore Classic Bushcraft knife (Very difficult to get due to high demand and limited supply) Maker has health issue's which limits productivity.
Camera equipment used
Lumix G7 with stock 18-55mm lens
DJI Mini 2 drone
Prices of above and availability of forementioned items is always changing, your best bet is to search the internet and see what deals you can find.
I often get asked a lot of questions about the kit I use etc so I've tried to answer them as best I can in the description box below the video. Hope that helps.
Sandy
Thanks.
🥰
For some of us, the sound of rain on canvas is the most beautiful thing in the world...
That and the sound of a crackling fire or flowing stream are up there for me...
Lovely stuff Sandy, no talking needed :D
Cheers Andy, Nature has the best words sometimes:)
Don’t know what can possibly be in the mind of someone who got up today and thought “now I will go on RUclips and give a thumbs down to a peaceful camping video”. I loved the tranquility of this. It also looked like a satisfying use of some favourite bits of kit.
It's always good to use the old kit, but experiencing nature first hand can't be beaten
Just beautiful Sandy, and its all out there waiting to be enjoyed for free by anyone who ventures out into our lovely countryside........Pat
This is very true Pat. I am generally a quiet person in my everyday life and can go through a whole day and hardly say a word...Unlike the wife!!!
That's wonderful. I like when you talk, but this was great as well.
Sometime Bjorn all we ned is the sounds of nature:)
I love the sound of rain on canvas having spent many years camping.
Some superb natural sounds captured! I once asked my son, why doesn't a woodpecker get a headache, he just looked at me, and said.... evolution 🤣
LOL Yes they do have skulls with built in shock absorbers...And thats true:)
Great video Sandy. That said it all. Nothing left but memories
Lovely job Sandy. Thanks. Take care.......Les
Love the woods, by far my favourite type of camping. Just back from a night in the rain swinging between the trees. Slept like a log!
That sounds lovely
Excellent video Sandy.
I think people often feel they are obliged to talk all the time, but this is what it's all about.
The essence of solo camping in an English woodland is right there. Beautiful.
Love to all
Noel
Sonetimes just the sounds of nature are all that is needed Noel
Brilliant,, now that’s what I call camping,, just chilling and the sounds👌👌
Sunday afternoon with Sandy Jack, you couldn’t have better company! 👍🏻
LOL Thanks Cam:)
Another fantastic video Sandy. Very nicely put together. Thank you.
Superb. Sanity in an insane world. Thanks Sandy!
I love the sound of the rain on a tarp, plus the sound of nature. Thanks.
Rain on tarp is one of my favourite sounds
Love the sound of the Rain.
I really enjoyed your video Sandy! Making it without narration shows the true entertainer that you are! I observed the Opinel survival knife you used in chopping veggies! That's the first time I've observed that model! Now I need one, and I hope they come up with one that's not serrated!
Nice one thank you for taking me along (:
The bacon wrap !❤❤❤❤❤❤ Great idea 💡thanks
Just beautiful. Thank you for making this video.🙏
Thank you for another perfect film. No words were needed. You and mother nature said it all.
Yes nature speaks the best words
Nothing better than the sound of rain on a tent 🥰👋 Woodlands give off healing energy. 🙂👋
That was lovely, very restful, thank you.
That was lovely! Enjoyed nature and the entire setup. 😃
Brilliant. I'm getting the added effect, as i watch it's chucking it down outside. Nature has the best sounds.
You can't beat the sound of rain
Thank you for sharing your adventure!
👍👍👍 always check the area ensuring you don’t leave any sign you were there. True lover of nature, that’s you. I have to say it again; another great video. Thank you Sir. Well done. Felt like I was right there too.
Thanks Dee, I do love the place
lovely video Sandy the sound of nature is the best music ever
Another great video
I'm missing little Elsa being with you, must be lonely without her.
Nice camp, very relaxing, thanks for posting.
Yes I will always miss my little dog
Great video. Really enjoyed the tranquility. Thank you
Pure therapy, Mother Nature’s soundtrack.
A superb vid, thank you.
Take care and ride safe.
Neil
Thanks Neil
Just wanted to tell you that you have yet another subscriber. (It's me, Bjorn from Norway.)
You pulled that off really well. Kept me watching to the end. Whatever mic you are using is giving excellent results. 👍
Thanks Ken and Carol the nic I used was a Rode Video Micro. Quite cheap really
Beautifully done Sandy! (Except that I'm now feeling hungry again....)
I can see that you enjoyed this camp, Sandy. I certainly enjoyed watching, listening and the ambience. Good to see you go through the motions of cooking a decent meal as well. All the best. Hope you have a good week and thanks for sharing.
Thankyou Olly,
Yes I did very much enjoy this camp, it was very simple but had everything that I was expecting. You can't beat getting close to nature:)
Terrific video Sandy, very enjoyable!
I definitely love these silent ones every now and then. Sets the mood and helps focus on everything important around us. A splendid job thanks for sharing Sandy
lovely vid sandy, shows why you like doing it so much! no hustle and bussle, no traffic (bar natures traffic! 😂)
Thanks Geoff glad you enjoyed it
I love just listening to the sounds of nature. I could sit and listen to the rain on a tent for days on end then add the birds and other critters....just perfect. Thankyou for this video.
Nice one, Sandy. For a second there when you drank your coffee, I thought you were going to give a thumbs up. 😋☕👍
like Normark?
Maybe if I had a splash of whiskey in the coffee I would have
@Wiltshire Man That would have been Tom. 😜
One of your best videos.
Love the silence 🙂
The trusty LK35 👍🏻
Looked like hard work but still a fantastic break from everyday life-Well done Sandy 👍👍👍👍👍
It's not so hard really James, just every now and then had to do some camera work but mostly quite a chilled out time sat and resting in camp
One of the best you have done, Sandy; Chapeau. It was worth watching for the toad, alone. Regards, Henry.
Thanks for the praise Henry
So relaxing to se you pur in the woods 👍 thanks for sharing 😎
Very relaxing video despite the rain. Nice one.
Cracking video, I never like home time...
Take care Sandy 🙏
Sunday afternoon viewing 👍
Hope you enjoyed it:)
"Jacklore Classic Bushcraft knife (Very difficult to get due to high demand and limited supply) " - Lol. I've heard that if you meet the man concerned in the woods, and leave a Gold Sovereign minted in the year of his birth beside his firebox, he might make you one. But that may be just an old folk tale... (o;
A gold sovereign did I hear you say. You Sir can have a Jacklore Classic. I'll start the build tomorrow:)
Ah, damn. Too slow, @@WiltshireMan - I've already had a chat with Wayland The Smith and he's going to change my motorcycle tyres whilst he's at it. He said something about 'shoeing my horse' but I updated him on that front ((o;
Nice job Sandy. Great audio of natural sounds. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to hear from you guys. Hope your doing well
Just love the content, pace, sound and aesthetic of this video Sandy - thank you very much
Thanks Darrel I'm glad you enjoyed the video:)
Another piece of paradise Sandy and living like a king. Thanks for sharing.
Great video
Great video as always. Most enjoyable.
Mouthwatering dinner you knocked up, could eat that all day long! Brilliant video, no words needed, it spoke for itself, Ray Mears would be proud :-D
Thanks Oscar:)
Really enjoyed this.. Thankyou
Very pleasant ,enjoyed that.
Excellent video Sandy.... I’m watching this while outside the back of my house in a hammock under a tarp listening to the rain pour down.
After the video is finished the hardest part will be staying awake.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz 😴
Watching this back Rob I have almost nodded off myself:)
A gifted guy you are👍
Can’t beat bacon and bread for breakfast. Thanks for the nature background music.
Brilliant really enjoyed thanks
Music for the soul
Yes it is:)
do you know what sandy i think the whole construct of this video adds calm to any viewer lucky enough to watch it - really valued it and feel a happier and more relaxed person from having enjoyed the sheer delight of the short version of the full trip. p.s. love the drone footage early in the piece - v pro. all the best and calm thanks for all you do.
Thanks Ashley
Watching Nature at it's best. Full screen. On. 50" tv. Sound. Up. Max. What could be better than being there myself. Brilliant surroundings siting with nature.
Great Vlog Sandy. 👍
Its only a small woodland close to home and sometimes I can hear the road noise but also a lot of natural sounds too
What a treat to watch a great video without annoying music all the way through!
Looks like you ahd a good time in your backwards tent. Maybe next time you can buy a forwards tent?
Forwoods tent you mean. We must always move Forwoods:)
Five star accommodation, Michelin cooking, an evening meal, 900 calorie breakfast burned off from walk in and walk out, and natures soundtrack what is there not to like, quality Sandy, thank you for taking us all along our lives are enriched again. Harry
Thats right Harry, you can eat the cals if you burn them off:)
My wife suggested that a stock cube should of been added to the vegetables and potatoes and some herbs and it would of made a nice soup, and a French stick. A good tip for future reference.
I'm sure your wife is right, I was thinking if only I had a stock cube. I'll do that next time
Hi, Just caught up with the vids. I have begun to notice how high Carmen has her tail when she's running about. I remember when you first got her and her tail was so low. You said it would rise and it did. Loved the silent one. The rain and the pheasant call were brilliant. Looking forward to the next one.
Hi Sandy, your videos put me in mind of Jack Hargreaves Out of town, always loved watching his calm gentle manor too
I remember him well too
Can't beat it Sandy, never really worked out what it is about the rain beating down on the tent is so relaxing when your warm and dry and full of hot food. Arthur (UK)
No dreaded loud music fab video thanks
Rain and nature are all well and good but hell that bacon sizzle was something else :-).
Some time spent on some quality shots there mate.. loved the beginning with the drone shots with your back to the camera all the time... time equals quality... well done.
Thanks Ben
Simple & simply pleasurable to watch sandy , the wind got up a bit as you were packing your tent away 🤣😉 been toying with the idea of one of them dji 2 mini,s , a lovely camp listening to the beauty of natures sounds 👏👏👌👍
The Mini 2 is a good piece of kit Martin, I'll show it to you at some point this year
Aaaaaannnnnndddddd relax......
Great video Sandy, sometimes less is more I like that.
A lovely change of pace, Sandy. Thank you!
Right up my street this is Sandy...thank you. Nature is stunning
Great job with the video, really nice camera work and editing, not to mention the sound. If you are a person who has experienced nature (which sadly there are many who have not). You can literally feel everything from the softness of the moist ground, smell of the food and smoke, it's hard to explain but I am sure many will know what I mean. Nature I the most important thing and is overlooked by so many people. Some people even live their whole lives without noticing the real world around them which is quite sad.
People like you and Bjorn and a few others capture the very essence of what being human is about, again it's a hard thing to put into words. But it's what we are about and has sadly been slowly lost in more recent times.
Very true Roger. Being tuned into the subtleties is a good thing
Most relaxing video I've watched in a long time! I could just smell that bacon cooking.. thanks for posting
Amazing what beauty lies in silence so to speak.
Sometimes it's good Not to talk:)
What a stunning video
Absolute bliss... Nature at its best 👍Nice one Sandy. Stay safe 😷.. ATVB from sunny and locked down Malaysia 🏕😷🇲🇾

Great video as always. Very calming. You certainly live well when you're roughing it!
Roughing it? Living indoors is roughing it 🤣🥰👋
I think I am going to start solo camping again ,group camping is ok but as you show its more silent alone..
Solo camping is great Dan, You've done some good one's in the past, will be good to see you do more:)
@@WiltshireMan I am looking forward to more mate

We will have to get a meetup soon Chris. I'll be intouch. Ah the Ridgeway, a lovely place to be
Fantastic sounds in that vid sandy, loved the woodpecker he sounded quite close to you. Glad you had a relaxing time the steak looked cooked to perfection and the morning brew looked a very welcome sight. 👍😁😉
