- I cycled into camp on my trusty On One Bootzipper 29er, getting a good soaking in the process.
I'm glad I decided to take the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow with me on this trip, the tent performed well and the porch area gave me the cover I needed to sit and cook under. It rained most of the time and the shelter did not leak at all. Very pleased!
For cooking I used my Folding Firebox titanium stove with a Trangia meths burner, thought this was a good idea as it meant I didn't have to gather wet wood and I could happily cook under the porch and not get smoked out:)
Illumination was provided by my lovely Swiss Army candle lantern. These lanterns are not cheap but I don't know why but the light from this lantern seems to be brighter than from other candle lanterns I have. I love it!
Thanks as always for watching, if you have enjoyed the video please leave a thumbs up and consider subscribing for more.
Sandy
Music used in this video is from the RUclips audio library
Dude where's my horse - Nat Keefe and the bow ties
Outlaws farewell - Reed Mathis
This is why I keep coming back, nothing stops you from having great adventures, you always bring us along. Most excellent
Glad you enjoy it Graham. Thankyou
Hey Sandy, you sure are a trooper, camping in the rain. Loved your set up. Something sweet, when you left, your wife kept saying, be careful, be careful. Awesome to hear. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
No weather will come between a Wiltshire man & his camp. There is definitely something very comforting with a nice candle 🕯️ & ambient light. Cheers Sandy
Hi Andy,
Once your eye's become accustomed to the candle light it is infact quite bright enough
@@WiltshireManhow's that backwoods bungalow holding up in rain
@@jimibaked4235 It is Good, but being single skin and with the door closed down there is the chance of condensation especially on a cold and damp night. Many confuse this with the tent leaking. Mine does not leak
@@WiltshireMan thx I'm needing a tent with a good sleeping bag I don't mind letting the door stay open so I should have no problem with air flow as long as it's waterproof from factory
Great film Sandy. You created a lovely atmosphere. I loved hearing the rain coming down on the tent and seeing the warm glow of the candle lantern. Very relaxing.
Thanks Neil, it was a very relaxing camp. The sound of rain takes some beating
Not many people would go camping in that weather Sandy , but you made it into a successful event. I think I could smell that steak through my computer.
Lovely show Sandy 👍😎
Hi Steve,
Loving my Firebox stove, the best woods/bushcraft cooker bar none :)
I love these rainy chilled out camping videos. Nice one Sandy. Great choice of accompanying music too.
Thanks Mark, I must say I did enjoy this one, slept very well too
In the trees with a beer and a steak, it does not get any better than that. Lovely Sandy.
It's the simple things in life that count the most Dave
@@WiltshireMan You are not wrong there my friend, things people easily forget.
Always a good day when a Sandy Wildcamp pops up 👍🏻🚴🍻
Cheers Coops:)
Thank you, Sandy for another great presentation. Leo from Melbourne.
There's nothing more satisfying than the atmosphere around a camp out on a rainy night or day for that matter Sandy. You treat each venture as something special and it shows in your demeanour whilst there. As casual as you can be and we get to sense those same vibes that's why your subs like to follow ever vlog mate. You have a winning format so keep them coming. Bushyboy Oz
Thankyou Oz, I think camping on a regular basis has become my therapy, I do feel refreshed afterwards but also soon feel the need to get back out for another adventure:)
I love how the video starts off with "be careful!" None of this would be possible without a good woman back at home
It's nice to have someone back at home that cares:)
There’s something about being cozy and dry in a tent with the sound of the rain softly hitting the roof.
Love your vids mate, extremely relaxing and calming vibe to them.
You capture the serenity of the woods very well.
Thanks Peter I'm glad you enjoyed this video. It certainly was a relaxing camp
I have this tent. Im happy to pitch it dry and then get rained on. Never pitched it wet. So every day is a learning day. Thank you !
Oh the rain, not much of a summer this year
Hi Darren,
Been one of the wettest coolest summers we've had in a long time. I was hoping to get along to the Prepper meet this year but when I tried to book the field was full. Will have to have a catchup soon my friend:)
Sandy
40 sec in and have love being spoken to you to be careful. Love it
Another fab video, thank you! Genuinely enjoy sharing your adventures. Top choice on the accompanying music, relaxing and very fitting. Keep up the good work :)
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Fair play to you Sandy for setting off camping in that rain. Thank you for a very enjoyable , peaceful video.
Glad you enjoyed it, camping in rain is one of the best experiences in my book
lovely video Sandy. Simple pleasures, very relaxing to watch as always.
It always looks cosy when you’re camping when light starts to fade,Dry cured bacon you carnt beat it ,enjoyed another great video Sandy
Dry cured bacon from Yorkshire Chris, lovely grub:)
Usually when I watch ur videos I crave the open road. Right now I'm craving caffeine. Thx Saffy.
A coffee a day keeps the doctor away:)
Inspirational as always Sandy 🙏😊👍❤️
Thanks Paul, It was so nice to experience some lovely English weather:)
A magic wizards beer tree -amazing
I wish there were a few more tree's like it Steve
Nice camp despite the weather. That beer tree is handy I could do with one myself. 🙂
Everyone wants a beer tree Patrick, I'll get my mate to wave his wand for you
Nice one again Sandy, good to escape the dragon for a nights peace and quiet, helps the lugs heal up a wee bit.
Hahaa, it' was our 36th wedding anniversary yesterday, she ain't so bad :)
Dondle2 - you may have a dragon, Sandy has Mandy!
Great Camp, not only did you pillage the Wizards tree but you robbed my seat as well lol. Nice to see bacon that doesn't shrink in the frying pan. I like that backwoods bungalow too
Hahaa Yes I had a nice drinky thanks to "The Wizards tree", but fear not I have a feeling that tree will bear more ale's in the future. As for your chair, it didn't sink into the ground like mine did, a good chair that:)
Hi sandy, thanks for another great video. I love your camping videos your a true outdoors country man. Love to you, your family and the dogs. Keep up the great work mate
Always been a bit outdoorsy even as a child Paul. I love the countryside
Game as a badger even setting out in that weather Sandy…..superb video.
Ah Thankyou. I love stormy weather :)
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing, Sandi.
Your videos take us along with you my friend. A relaxing and enjoyable 22 Minutes that puts me in a peaceful frame of mind. Thank you and see you in the next one!
Thanks Bill you can't beat time in nature:)
Nice magic beer tree…In America we only have Bud light fairies..bless them…Have fun stay safe.
Yes I've heard the fairies have taken to drinking that brand, I don't drink Bud lite you'll no doubt be pleased to know
Great set up that sandy, and some good camp cooking, cheers.
I feel this. I am always out like this. Just me, my bicycle and my gear.
The way it should be!
Another great camping video, thanks 👍
Lovely peaceful camp Sandy. Really enjoyed it. The knife cut through your steak beautifully! ATB - Ben
Thanks Ben, a good job the steak was tender:)
A great video as alway. I could listen to that rain for hours chap. I do like that lantern.
Thanks 👍It's a great lantern but they are not cheap
Nice one Sandy👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Sandy, I love the cosiness of a tent in wet weather
Me too Paul, Thankyou
Hi Sandy. Thanks for taking us with you on another amazing overnighter. If there was an award for a Bushcraft Master Chef, you'd win every time. Best wishes from West Wales.
Thanks Gwynn, I reckon Andy from Kent survival would get the Bushcraft chef accolade, there's definitely room for improvement regarding my woods cooking skills:)
We all need a beer tree Sandy 👍
If I had some seeds I'd send you some John:)
Just back home after three days away around Edinburgh and now sitting down with a cuppa watching this.
Great way to relax after three hours of traffic torture!
Cheers Sandy 🚴♂️ 🏕 👍
Oh I can just imagine it, the traffic on our roads has become horrendous in recent years
@@WiltshireMan yes, and with biblical rain turning the A1 into a river, I can't wait to get out on my bike tomorrow!
Cracking video Sandy. Love the look of the Backwards Bungalow tent.
Haaa Backwoods Ash, It's a good shelter for the warmer months
Very enjoyable video Sandy....always better in the rain for some reason..
It is Always better if there is some rain Mal
Loved this one, Sunday night Wiltshire man is always a relaxing treat and optimises Sundays 👍♥️😊
Thanks as always for watching Marcus, I hope you and Rachel have settled into the new place now
@@WiltshireMan yes we have sandy still a few things to do but we are nearly there with it all 👍
I just love your films and really love coming along with you on your journeys whilst I'm stuck indoors working. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Thanks JB .Wonderful to know your enjoying my little camp outs
Big thumbs up left for you WM. Very enjoyable watch
Thanks as always Victor:)
Very relaxing video. I love the sound of rain on a tent but don't like erecting one in the rain.
Steaks and bacon looked yummy.
Thanks for the video.
It's never nice putting up a tent in the rain but so nice being in one:)
Do as you are told and be careful Sandy. That weather looks like what we have had for two weeks.
It's been a wet couple of weeks Dave, It'll probably be baking hot next week and we will be praying for rain. Hope to see you on Bry's premier on Thursday, having said that I could be out camping, Ill try and join in with my phone
Allways great videos please keep producing them.
Thanks Shaun, I hope to keep making them for many years to come but nature will dictate how long that will be
Those steaks looked great !
Inspirational as always. Loved the grub, simple as can be and tasty.
Thanks Rob, got to keep it simple. Hope your back is getting better
@@WiltshireMan back and leg is getting better slowly thank you for asking. Got a camp bed now. Have to get off the floor when camping now.
@@robtherover Good, I saw your new video, the camp cot should help your back when sleeping but it's extra weight to carry
@@WiltshireMan yeah it’s not the type of thing you would take on a long hike. It has a carry strap though.
Can’t beat the sound of rain on your shelter and the smell of bacon cooking in the morning 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽….. excellent as always Sandy! Thank you for another enjoyable video. P.s id replace the zip ties on the cross bar foam with tape! Id definitely get my waterproofs caught on the tags lol…. Very best wishes to you and your family my friend 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Thanks Andy, Yes good idea, the zip ties keep slipping, best wishes to you too mate
Always a pleasure, always looking forward to your next vid
Thanks Glyn
We discovered on holiday this year that 98% hand sanitizer works fantastic in the trangia. It burns so clean and costs pennies
Love the video
Interesting! Something I may try later:)
Nice to see you out and about, looked like you had a nice time getting away from the rat race for a while. Thank for sharing.
Its a good thing to get away from the craziness of the modern world as often as possible Oz :)
Wonderful stuff. Great film work and so relaxing to watch, a real tonic whilst out of action with back problems. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Many thanks, I hope you soon feel better
thanks again Sandy - always relaxing to watch
Thanks for watching Marty
As always, a great video, Sandy 👍
Thanks Jeff
My kinda video Sandy! Great to see you setting up in the rain. Something I've not done yet!
Thanks Mick, you should give it a try, the sound of rain is very soothing to my ears
Don't know why but once again after watching your camping videos i have an overwhelming desire for beer and a steak. Nice job Sandy.
Haahaaa, go for it Mike:)
Wow you did well to go out in that very wet weather Sandy, it made a delightful video. Thank you .
Thanks Anne, this camp went really well. I loved the sound of the rain and I also slept very well too:)
@@WiltshireMan we’ve always loved the sound of rain on our tents over the years.
@@annenewton5403 It's one of the greatb pleasures in camping Anne. I love the rain:)
Love watching your adventures.
Thanks Timothy
I fall in and out of a tent now Sandy, a real shame, as this setup looked awesome. Those steaks looked lovely and lean and I could almost taste the bacon as it was cooking!
Ah Steve, Maybe the hammock is the way to go. Personally I prefer to ground dwell as I like to lay flat. Slept well on this camp, the night time went by in a flash
Hey WM, I bought a Tigris Backwoods Bungalow today. I was really impressed with its "verandah " and space. I hope to leave the table and chairs aside. Anyway, thanks for sharing. :)
It's a good woodland shelter
I really like the Aeropress coffee maker. Easy to use and clean. You might like it.
Yes I have seen them, they are good
That's a very peaceful place. Even with the rain coming down it looked very comfortable. The bike camping rig is coming together nicely.
Thanks Jim, It's a good rig if a bit slow, I would prefer the smaller wheel size 650b now that I've had almost a year on the 29er. Its a nice bike otherwise, just a bit slow.
I got my old 26 inch wheeled bike out the other day and it rides quite a bit faster. Next adventure I'll be on the old bike Jim!
I always enjoy your videos, I really liked the music too. Thanks 😊
Thanks Linda, I thought the music went well with the vid too:)
Fair play Sandy. Weather not an issue
There's no such thing as bad weather in my book :)
Lovely video Sandy. I've just watched it, sat in the garden of a local pub, enjoying a pint of their finest. All this, following a pleasant short walk, through fields and over hills in a neighbouring village. Time for another pint. Cheers...
Sounds like you've had a lovely day Charles :)
Perfect Video !
All the Best and greetings from Germany 🙂
Thankyou for watching and reciprocal greetings from England :)
@@WiltshireMan Thanks a lot!
Very good Sandy. I think I would have headed for the nearest hotel.
Hotels cost money bro...This was cheap and cosy
Looks like you had a very relaxing time even with the rain. I was watching before having breakfast and your dinner made me very hungry! Please let your viewers know where we can get seeds for a "Wizards Tree".
Haa, well the Wizards tree is just a normal tree, or rather it was until my friend Shane the Wand maker waved his wand at the tree:)
Good one, see you at Calne on Saturday .
I'll try and be there Rob
Great video of how it should be done, and great to see you doing this sort of video, thanks for sharing Sandy 👏👋
Thanks Phillip
Great camp like that tent gives you a tent, tarp combo ideal for UK wet weather beats a tiny vestibule on tent for sure
Its a practical shelter David
Nice one Sandy, what a great camp and food, atb mate.
Thanks Paul, I enjoyed this camp and had a good sleep too. Love the sound of rain
Lovely video and music thanks.
Thanks Dave
Great to see you out Sandy.
Thanks Daz
Hello Sandy,
I came across this video doing a search on the Backwoods Bungalow 2.0 and very much enjoyed it. I'm now a new subscriber. I'm also a Ham living in Northern Nevada US, kj7ca although I don't presently have any radio gear other than a 2m/440 hand held. I also am blessed with the ever present tinnitus! LOL! God bless, Frank
Hi Frank,
Tinnitus is aweful, just have to learn to live with it Frank. The Backwoods bungalow is a great woodland shelter but perhaps only for 3 season use, it's too cold and draughty to be a good shelter in the winter time.
Sandy g0vqw
Great video Sandy!
Thanks Mike
Another interesting video, always find your videos leave me feeling chilled. Also nice to meet up with you and the other guys in Tintern last week. All the best.
Cheers Paul, yes, it was also great to meet you, I hope you had a good time at that festival :)
Thank you Sandy for another great outdoor adventure, regardless of nature' mood!👌🏻 I really like your cache of refreshments, ready for enjoyment👍🏻 Looking forward to the next one, kind regards.
Thanks Paul, it would be a nice surprise if I was to return to find yet more beers stashed there:)
First time watching you. Loved it. Thank you
Thanks, Really pleased you have enjoyed my video:)
Great video!
I've watched a few of you motorcycle videos, never realised we had two hobbies in common.
Biking and Bushcrafting.
Loving the baker style tent, may well look at one for weekends on the woods
Definitely worth a subscription..
Hi Sandy great video, the Swiss army candle lantern is a great addition to your rainy night camp. It will be good to join you on a camp if that's Ok with you.
You can joim me and Shane for a Wild camp in August Kerry, Shane is a chef and will be cooking a Jalfrezi over the camp fire. I hope you like curry?
@@WiltshireMan I love a curry I'll bring the beers🍻 what date are you and Shane planning for your wild camp?
@@no_excuses Not sorted a date yet Kerri, as soon as I know I'll let you know
U never fail to inspire me!
Thankyou, it means a lot to me if I can inspire another person:)
Nice one Sandy.
My old scout master told me, "Any fool can rough it - it takes a good camper to be comfortable." You've had it nailed for years.
Noel
Hahaa Cheers Noel, I have had many a good night out in the woods now over quite a few years. I've had only a handful of bad nights and that was mostly due to tent failures. Modern tents are mostly good
Liked your ale tree Sandy, must see if I can find one myself some wet day. My you know how to make life bearable in inclement weather. Nice one. Harry
Thanks Harry, The Ale tree is all down to my friend Shane who it turns out is a "Wand maker", so it's not an Ale tree you need it's a magic wand:)
Loved it, Sandy. Very relaxing watch.
It was a lovely camp Bill. The offer for you and Andy to come over for a wild camp is always open
@@WiltshireMan Would love to. Havent seen Andy since I moved to Dorset.
That looks like a great little tent. Love the canopy.
The canopy really adds to the usability of this shelter
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Cheers!
Thanks for watching Dan:)
@@WiltshireMan You're very welcome, my friend!
Great video Sandy. I think we’ve had summer sadly.
It's looking that way Gary
Good old summer, I have seen people in coats and wellies with umbrellas!!! Hope next week is kind to you....
It got chilly last night Bry, I had to put my Winter coat on for a bit! Looking forward to Thursday nights "Joke night" :)
@@WiltshireMan Yes, not really like 'summer' at the moment. Thursday should offend a few [hopefully !!], especially the last joke or two towards the end hahaha....
@@TheRamblingsofBry You won't offend me Bry, I have grown wise and become unoffendable :)
Nice wet camp Sandy. The Jinx and me have cancelled the last 2 weekends due to the wind and rain, beginning to wonder if we've had summer and gone into Autumn now.
I fancy one of those bungalows for canoe camps, the more I see of yours the more I like the idea. Keep safe WW (and dry).
The Bungalow is a nice shelter Si, and you can pitch it using walking poles or sticks instead of a ridge line, a bit of a faf to put up but once it's up it's a nice place to be. Doesn't like the wind though!
Thank you, lovely video as usual. Did I notice lone rider tent pegs
Not sure the pegs were, but the did a good enough job
very nice camp
Thanks for watching
Great video I like it tent seen one like that on Amazon considering buying it it has a raised bed underneath 👍
fantastic you have it down to a fine art.
Thankyou Anthony, I've been at it a while now :)
Hey up,looked a brilliant tent u take care....
Thankyou:)
Made for good viewing bro, lovely weather you picked too. No chance of setting the woods on fire if your cooking stove got out of hand. Safe travels. Ken.
Hi Ken, you would not get the British woods to burn even if you had a flame thrower at the moment. Everything is so damp up here:)
Yeah no chance of trees catching fire here too, severe flooding and roads closed seams to be the default down here in NZ from around last spring. A guy on TV said the whole country is so saturated the rain water has nowhere to go.
