I still watch you n badger doing the West highland way over n over again. I can tell you really got a sense of achievement and satisfaction doing that trip. You've done so much since then and managed to film it ,edit and put it on the tube! While at same time making them bootiful knives. So,thanks for taking us with you this time. When I finish watching this video I'll go back n watch you n badger doing the West highland way...again. A.T.B. BUDDY
Sandy, I'm going to keep your Trangia lighting methods in mind when I use mine this winter. This past winter I struggled a bit getting the meths to light in the nearly -23 C temps. I also took a white gas stove with me on two different cold weather trips, but both times they (two different stoves) leaked fuel (frozen/hardened o-rings or some such problem). Of course my Trangia burners still worked perfectly! Take care, Gareth
Super Sandy. 50 years ago used to visit Dartmoor for my A Levels Geography and Geology subjects with my classes.Had great teachers one the Hon.Robert Hicks a Great person who helped me on my way to eternity. So this video for me an EX.Pat .Living some 2000kms away now certainly brings memories and revivies the nostalger. Thankyou Sandy.Be Blessed.
Thankyou. PS. I live alone nowdays after a Short teaching career and a long one connected with the military of several allied Nations. Ive blown many marriges but have from one 3 wonderfull daughters who I made sure they would beat the men when needed and they have proved that .I ,m so gratefull to be reminded of the happytimes of life in England rather than sad times of Yugoslavia,Desert Storm and the rest of such sadness around the world. I thankyou. An.Ex-Pat.
just watched this on a rainy day -planning a good summer route-inspired now! Very informative, sprinkled with history, quotes, and good gear reviews! Love it-now subscribed!
Very enjoyable, I don't know how I over looked this one, I guess it came out when I was finishing the last of my winter wood supply, I burn about 4 cords, this year I did 5 We are expecting a bad winter. keep up the great work. and thank you very much Sandy.
Wonderful Sandy, my old stomping ground, I grew up in Dawlish and used to go up on the moor as often as I could, it’s been almos twenty years since I left Devon and the UK to live in Canada and now for the past two years, Austria, you bring back many happy memories, my cousins daughter lives on the moor now.
I now know something. I love the litch way. So very interesting. The history of all of England is very Amazing. Awesome video ,put together nicely. Thanks. Tony
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Oakley Chandler I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I have no idea how I came across you and your videos, they were recommended, but I’m so glad I did.You are a very nice interesting and “Real”Person.Im HOOKED!!!
The landscape is beautiful with the icy look to it, and even though the weather was rough and cold it is still beautiful to look at! Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure with us!
Dartmoor, wonderful Dartmoor, especially during winter, coffin wood looks like a nice place to pitch, water, wood, shelter from wind, ideal, nice one Sandy 👌🇬🇧
Who needs the History Channel? Wiltshire Man's historic journeys into the past present and future. After you drank to the Jinx! The next scene was SNOW!! Great adventure guys really enjoyed watching from a warm sofa ;) Can't beat German Para Boots.
I didn't say earlier. Cold hands, i use nitrile rubber gloves when it gets really cold and windy they are waterproof and keep your hands really warm. You can do all the tasks still whilst wearing them. www.justgloves.co.uk/Nitrile-Gloves/Unigloves-ProTect-Powder-Free-Black-Nitrile-Gloves?pl=STD&ccv=Y&gclid=Cj0KCQjwguDeBRDCARIsAGxuU8Ykk8AHCOtwwF0cZWS1cdaxUsXhtf7CAcmNesEbtO99I5hrZT7u4KgaAiqYEALw_wcB
Great vid Sandy, thanks for the nod and stunning footage of what I missed. I think Joe summed it up as I would ‘Exhilarating’ indeed. Can’t wait to get out with you on another adventure 👍🏻😉
Wonderful video, the stark landscape has a beauty all of its own. Walking those historic pathways is so interesting,. I walked some when I was in UK some years ago.
I wished I’d watched this before I set off this morning. Just returned from a very wet, foggy, windy and freezing walk trying to find Coffin Woods. Didn’t find them but have more of an idea now ☺️
Another great video Sandy. Such a beautiful countryside to share with us all. And to add to all of the beauty, such a rich and so very interesting history that you have there. Thank you so much for all of the effort in putting together such an interesting story of the area and taking the time to show some of the historical structures and trails. Take care, stay healthy my friend and continue to enjoy the outdoors.
Great take on the trip - loved the blank reactions to your "who though shall follow" - ha ha ha! Commented on Si`s Vid that this is on my to do list -stuff like this reinforces that - cheers Sandy. Cheers Ant for your cameo appearance too.
Evening sandy. Lovely weather you have an there's more to come soon so the weather man say. Hope ing to get for a camp soon. Thanks for sharing mate an ya time ATB too you an yours.
Great story of the walk Sandy. Sorry not viewing and commenting sooner, but just on hols to Northumberland. A Dartmoor camp and walk is definitely on my to do list soon. All the best. Bill
Stellar work Mr. Sandyman! I never new the Moors had snow and ice that way. I've heard that it could be unforgiving in Winter but this made it very real!
A thoroughly enjoyable film Sandy, nice to see you with your feet on the ground again, just bought a pair of German x para boots myself and yes they are great for stream hopping and support, nice to see your hex tent out with you, I'll give you a good price for it if you want to buy a larger one in the future. For now I wish you well for the winter camping season. Atb Harry.
I found the bio ethanol gave the trangia pots a ‘coating’ which helped cleaning the soot off...Bonus. Worth the extra cost just for the ease of cleaning. I also struggled to light it at low temps this end of October.
Never follow Money.....But which 'God' you follow is open to lots of interpretations X Fantastic Walk and Camp X Great to see you all out and on such a freezing night and how you kept warm X Take Care X
New sub here, came from Hoopedbivi Wildcamper. Really enjoying the videos from the both of you. Please keep sharing your adventures with us, thumbs up.
Hello, Sandy! Reed your homework well this time to! Nice video, but it looks coold, well with rigth stuff in the backpack it's allwrigth! History is wery intresting, just reading a lot of the south Swedish city of Lund it is incredible exciting, several new books just came out of that place. BarbroSweden
Hey Sandy always love your vids, this one did not disappoint. Don't know if you're a man of Faith but loved the use of some scripture in this one. Take care and God bless. Look forward to the next.
Cracking stuff mate. Ive used Bio fuel for couple of years now and i find they both burn about the same but bio fuel is cleaner but they both need the fuel to be warm before they kick in. A good idea is to put your Trangia burner in a small round tuppaware container with a good sealable lid then put it in your doss bag or pillow so come the morning it fires straight up. Brill upload again mate and thank you to all in the video
@@jm9123 it depends on the size and design of the tent mate but i would at least personally ide make sure you at least unzipped the door a bit to allow ventilation
Sandy this is an EPIC video! Thank you so much. So rich and educational. Great nature videography. I'm struck by "lich" being so similar to "Leiche" the modern German for corpse. In Switzerland where I live, it is pronounced, "liiich" ("ch" like "loch") which is incredibly close to "lich". So in Swiss German, it would be "Liiichweg" Or Lich Way. ALl the best, Rob
Knife maker, Paramotor pilot, Outdoorsman, Radio ham, Film maker... is there any end to your talents Sandy? Where do you find the time and energy for it all? All power to you sir!
weird you dont fit in the hexpeak, im 6'3 and fit fine...i wonder if you have a v4 rather than the new v4a ..oh well...nice to see you again in my next of the woods so to speak, an injury has kept me off the moors the last few weeks..been dying to get out there, funnily enough, the lych way is on my "to do" list..hopefully get out soon and do it ..fantastic as ever ...ATB WJ
that was something of a different camp.......life and death in Dartmoor ha ha...... I remember your last video about your Dartmoor camp, where you actually passed close to the prison, that reminded me so much of my first novel I read as a teen....#TheHoundOfBaskerville...... would be wonderful to see you again in Dartmoor and maybe go on the trail of the Baskervilles and look for the hound....ha ha
Thank you so much Sandy for sharing this walk with us , really enjoyed watching.
After months of lockdown I am getting desperate to get back to Dartmoor. Thanks for helping me relive some of my own frosty, windy and wet adventures
I was on Dartmoor near Belstone last night. We woke up to thick frost. I'm still drying the tent out now. Another great video keep up the good work.
It was a cold couple of nights on the moor thats for sure
