Greetings Simon! It's been several years since I last wrote you. It is Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 @10:55am Mountain Time ( Boise, Idaho ) = about 6pm (local time in London. I enjoyed watching and "experiencing" the english countryside "Dartmoor National Park hiking trail and scenic panoramic views of your hike and camp on a good warm sunny day. I love tagging along with you on your trips Simon. I've never been to England and now I'm too old to venture that way. My grandparents emigrated from England in the 1920's and our family has kept up a lot of the English traditions, so I enjoy seeing some parts of their homeland through your eyes.
Such a lovely video as always Simon. The classy shot of you walking through the derelict building window was good. Solid B-roll and a bit of history. Bliss. Thank you.
Simon and Andy's channels are my favorite channels to watch. Between the beautiful scenes of nature, the interesting gear, and the wonderful food, they just can't be beat! Much love from the States!!

Thank you so much for sharing your journeys. As I watched your camp site… I could not help but imagine how many people have walked and camped there over all the years people have wandered the land. The “Panda Cows” at the nuns cross were hilarious. Safe travels sir.
Thank you, Simon, for another nice video. You're showing us an area that we would never see from Texas. I truly hope you know how much we appreciate you showing us your travel areas. God bless y'all and stay safe on your travels. 👍👍

Terrific filming Simon, it's so nice to see the beautiful countryside. So many You Tubers film their daft faces yakking into the camera as they walk along..😊

Splendid Simon Old chap...Dartmoor is a magical place indeed whatever the weather. Mind you been up there in some horrendous storms 🌧 haha Great transmission Old chap!
I live in west Plymouth, a sparrow's spit away from the river border with Cornwall and close to where you were on Dartmoor. Crazywell Pool is cited as being dangerous to swim in, precisely because it is so deep, but people still go up there for a summer dip. I can assure you, there's no part of the water that's warm! It might be a slight bit warmer in the shadows, but Dartmoor water is very cold! Lol. You're right about the potential dead sheep in the leat, for sure. Down Tor Stone Circle is amazing, although I love another place, just SSE of there: Drizzlecombe has standing stone rows, a cairn etc and is nearby to Sheepstor. It's very impressive. As for the main body of water and some surrounding land, Burrator reservoir, it's owned by South West Water, but managed by the conservation charity South West Lakes Trust (SWLT). You can fly fish there, with a permit, but are meant to stay out of the water; it has a dangerous undertow. I was the lead conservation volunteer (and a contractor) there for many years, until my knee arthritis became more limiting. It's a beautiful spot, and the film War Horse was filmed at the nearby Ditsworthy Warren house, and on the moor nearby. Many people don't know it's the rock outcrop that is the tor, not the hill itself, nor that the tor isn't always at the top of the hill, as they're sometimes a little offset. The first time I walked up Sheepstor, I approached via the climbing side of the tor, but went around the side/back to finish the walk to the top. It was so tempting, while looking over the edge at the climbers below, to yell out there was an easier way up! I now teach foraging nearby, and it's always fun seeing what wild foods you can find on the "desolate" moor. I use my heat/fire resistant mat under my raised twig stove on Dartmoor, but it's great to see you also used an option that wouldn't damage the ground, too. "Wild camping" is permitted in many areas on Dartmoor, and the locations and rules around that can be found on the Dartmoor National Park website. It looks like you followed the rules well. Devon is the second wettest county in England, with the south west being the wettest part of it, and Dartmoor itself known for having its own weather system, that's know for having 4 seasons in one day! I enjoyed your video, the first one I've seen so far.
Simon, I hope that my comment doesn't saden u... But I was thinking how much Maggie would have enjoyed the cows n the grassy meadows sleeping in the tent w her best bud !!!!! R the sky's good for night viewing ?? Not To much light pollution ( I hope ). Well, peace ✌️ and keep on rocking the free world 🌍🌍😅
Unbelievably beautiful area! It doesn't look barren at all. I would absolutely love to see this place in person. Thank you so much for all your camera work and editing. I have a small channel myself thanks to your inspiration. I do my best to replicate what you do here in New England. You certainly have the best videos on RUclips. For the outdoor community anyway. I look forward to your videos. It's always a special treat when I see you've posted a new one. Best wishes my friend and thank you.
Beautiful video Simon thx and wow the stone circle being around 3 in a half thousand years amazing to see and all of it really yes I'm like you yes I think it's so beautiful all of it.. A lady named Clair Bear has a utube channel and does hikes & camps at places like this., and I think it's the same place, but I'm not sure., but yours is absolutely beautiful..
I’ve done lots of wild camping down there in the South on the Moor over the last few years, so it’s great to see Dartmoor again! Truly the last place in England you are officially allowed to wild camp freely… But for how much longer I do not know!? I’ve done half a dozen camps up on Sheep’s Tor, it’s always blowing a hoolie up on there!.. Thanks for taking me along.
Hi Simon, It's so good to see you out again. Darthmore has a lot of similarities to Northern Nevada near Winnemucca. I lived in Nevada for about 6 years in the early 1980's. We even had wild horses, but they were not small as your Darthmore ponies. And we have rattlesnakes in our deserts. I never went camping there.
Hi Simon. Really a very well put together video!! The Bronze Age circle was absolutely awesome!!! Beautiful scenery as well!! As always, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful country with us!!❤
Simon this walk was absolutely fantastic....the moors look to be am amazing landscape. And l really enjoyed seeing those tadpoles...took me back to my childhood.❤ They are not easy to find. Obviously it is clean country there. Again thank you..🌲🌲🌲
Thanks for another relaxing and scenic video👍 I was watching “Keeping Up Appearances “ a couple of weeks ago and now think if Hyacinth’s Husband could have only had guide like you when they were searching for Iron-Age remains…😂! Have a great day !
Hi, Simon! Watching you set up your tent on top of a windy mountain made me flash back to your WINDY, SNOWY mountain camp in Wales when your tent pole snapped from extreme wind! Ohmygosh! Even though you had lots of flapping, at least your tent held! Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure! Best to you always.
amazing to see you down my neck of the woods! not wrong about the rare sunshine, the countless times ive felt it was a lovely day for a wonder, headed up and when you get there it starts hammering it down. one sad thing ive always felt about the moors, is the distinct lack of large woodland, and those there are, are plantations, but of course this doesn't detract from the amazing views and wilderness. im definitely blessed to live so close to such a place, and one we're still legally allowed to camp! not that it stops us in the places we're not...
Thank you very much for taking me along on a pleasant trek across Dartmoor. Here in Minnesota, we also have a city named Plymouth. That itty bitty stove is a little gem!
Hi from Queensland. Loved the serene countryside and rocky outcrops. The prison on Dartmoor takes me to happy memories of "The Goon Show" radio show Harry Secombe, Spike Milligan and company. Loved your walk. Thankyou. 🙏

Lovely mate .....a real feast for the eyes. All the best. 😎☯️🌱
I enjoy sharing these moments with you. Thank you
Another great one!! A set of foam ear plugs weigh nothing and go a long way to get some rest on nights like that!
Really fascinating to see the Bronze Age monument and get a bit of background. Thanks for taking us there!
Thanks Kimberly!
Simon!!! Make me another loaf of bread! I loved that video hahaha just kidding. Glad to see you again as I get old. 😂
Around 11:18- that stone circle was cool Simon!
Thankfully, the morons from "just stop oil" didn't deface it with orange paint!
Probably too far for them to walk from their electric vehicles 😂👍
Simon, I hope that my comment doesn't saden u... But I was thinking how much Maggie would have enjoyed the cows n the grassy meadows sleeping in the tent w her best bud !!!!!
R the sky's good for night viewing ?? Not
To much light pollution ( I hope ).
Well, peace ✌️ and keep on rocking the free world 🌍🌍😅
Thank you mate! The last time I walked those trails, Maggie was by my side, I miss that old girl 😔
FANTASTIC!
Top Video, us that know appreciate the lovelly Moors 👍
Yes a wonderful watch Simon great camera work and editing, I do enjoy map time
Unbelievably beautiful area!
Simon, I have been following your channel for years! My bucket list is to go to the UK and spend a weekend camping with you and Andy!
Dartmoor wow spent many a happy times there and Whistman woods Primeval Oak woodlands. Weather was on your side 😊
I love your hikes, Simon! Thank you so much for sharing the English countryside! 👍😎🇨🇦
Lovely Simon, really lovely hike and camp, with bags of atmosphere. Thank you for sharing mate. Chris
Love Dartmoor. I grew up near Sheepstor and took my son on his first camping trip there.
I’m having a little rum myself this evening… cheers! Another great adventure and I thank you for sharing it. 🥰
Thanks Simon 😊 Always good to see the old country, which I never explored enough before moving to Western Australia. You’re an inspiration. Cheers ❤
As always, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful country with us!!❤
Beautiful Dartmoor. Made even more enticing with your intro and outro music that you’ve picked. Your vids have the best music.
Simon this walk was absolutely fantastic....the moors look to be am amazing landscape.
And l really enjoyed seeing those tadpoles...took me back to my childhood.❤
They are not easy to find.
Obviously it is clean country there.
Again thank you..🌲🌲🌲
Always happy when you break out the map. Impeccable land nav, as always.
Get in!!!!! Literally a Wednesday with out this notification is rubbish 😂
Absolutely makes my day 🏕️ 🔥
Thanks for another relaxing and scenic video👍
I was watching “Keeping Up Appearances “ a couple of weeks ago and now think if Hyacinth’s Husband could have only had guide like you when they were searching for Iron-Age remains…😂!
Have a great day !
Watching that made my legs ache Simon. Well done.
Thankyou. 🙏
Nice to see you enjoying my local patch. And you definitely got lucky with the weather.
