Rain on canvas takes me back many years to my dad's wooden fishing boat with cabin tops of wood covered with painted canvas, and sleeping on board while tied up for the night. Such a soothing sound. Thanks for the video! I'm sure Elsa is great company!
Did a reenactment last weekend and it rained both Friday and Saturday nights. Sleeping under canvas during a rain storm is soothing and I slept very well! Great video Sandy.
Nice vid! I really like these atmosferic videos. The in tent, bad weather, cooking and coping, plus information about gear are fascinating to myself. I also like the hiking with your pals BTW. Thanks for the trouble you go to and for sharing it all with us.
Really enjoyed that as I worked from the home office into the wee small hours...you kept me company and I appreciate that. Felt like I was there under the canvas. Been following you for a while now and really enjoy your vlogs. Thanks for posting and hi from NZ.
I bought one of the polish laavu tents three years ago based on your videos with it. I think now, that I'm going to take it down to the canvas shop and have a zip sewn in. And probably have the arm flaps and back set of button downs sewn shut at the same time. You are correct: there is nothing like the sound of rain on real canvas to take away the stress of civilization. Cheers!
Your an inspiration Sandy, and your impeccable honesty regarding the Lavvu was a treat, in a rain storm last night you popped into my mind as I thought I might turn the tent the way you do, now I will re proof it with flaps still inside.Happy camping. Harry.
You looked nice and cozy in your Polish tent while it was raining. Great idea to record the sound of it. Love it. I think I need something like that to help me sleep. Thank goodness there was no thunder. Thanks for sharing. Tony
I always enjoy camping in the rain especially if I can setup before the rain begins. Nothing more relaxing than the sound falling on the tent except maybe for wood burning. Thanks for sharing. Have a good one.
That rain on the canvas was so relaxing to listen too. Enjoyed that one as always and great to see Elsa out and about again and looking so well. Thanks Sandy, looking forward to the next one. 👍👍😉
I’ve just re watched this video and realised that I had missed some , I watched it first at 2. Am and must of nodded off a while. Thanks for the reply to my query , I’m very impressed with that set up.
Poncho tents look awesome, I'm hoping to get one and make a wood burner for it this winter. Just found your channel and subscribed, all the best dude 😉👍
Sandy, if you have a look at the way the arm holes drain, it looks like the poncho should be worn (and setup as a tent) with the shoulder flaps inside. I have found that the flaps inside, dangle in your face. So when putting zips in mine, I also modified the arm holes to drain outside, with the flaps outside.
Great video as always. Love the sound of rain on canvas so thanks for the extended sound track. I have a cracking little Millets tent that I use when rain is expected, think I may have to pitch it in the garden next time heavy rain is forecast, you have given me the bug! Only wildlife problem I have ever had in this country was with a rogue pony and her foal in the New Forest. She raided my tent to get at my food - I had only gone to get some water. Food always kept in air tight containers now! Thanks again, rain chucking down here now, I shall go to bed and imagine in am in my tent.
I just found this page, and subscribed. Very laid back and easy going. Elsa, is a delight. :) I loved the reading before bed time. The rain on the canvas was so soothing, thank you for recording that. Would it be possible to post this lovely sound by itself? Excellent video. My best to you and Elsa, for the new year.
You are one of the most decent and pleasant YT camping peeps around! Bravo! Elsa surely deserves extra Kudos! What a Honey Pup! Thank YOU! So much to be envious of! Keep up all the great videos!
Great vid Sandy. I too were planning to go test my Soulo but ran out of time with such a busy weekend. When we get a good downpour of rain you can hear it within my new home with the vaulted ceilings 👍🏻😉
I'm sure the Soulo will do well no matter what the conditions Ant. Thats a good tent:) Not sure about the weather but it will be Dartmoor in a couple of weeks.
Beautiful, Sandy! The sound of rain on a tarp or tent is one of the most calming sounds in the world...can't wait until it starts raining where I am! All the best, Sir...take care and looking forward to next time!
Great vid. I was planning my first solo stealth this weekend but they predicted 45mph wind and torrential rain so thought better of it. Nice to see Elsa with you and the lavvu set up looks ideal.
It's great to see dear Elsa as always. Glad you got your rain to make your recording, but sorry the lavuu sprung a leak. I really enjoyed the sound of the rain from inside the lavuu and your photos. Thank you so much, Sandy, for sharing another of your adventures.
Once again another lovely video of you and Elsa on a camp out. A bit of grub and the sound of rain on canvas! What else do you need eh? Take care Sandy, you're a good man. Until such time .............
Enjoyed this video Sandy. Good to see Elsa with you too, she's looking good for a lady of a certain age :) Must admit my eyelids were getting heavy with the rain interlude. Always enjoyed this from my time in the Cubs, then Scouts & the rain on the canvas tent or mess tarp, plus sitting in my pigeon loft as a lad & the rain on the wrinkly tin roof :) Thanks again.........Les
Great video bro, I have not camped in a canvas tent since our girls were little. We have or I should say had a 15 x 9 family tent as it got badly damaged in a storm when our oldest had it away on a youth camp, going to cost more to fix than we paid for it sadly. Yes rain on canvas is a lovely sound. Hey all the best.
Great video. You'll have to practice breaking down the camp from inside the tipi and then donning one of the ponchos as the last act so you can stay out of the rain! :)
Good on ya, Sandy! I went out for a forecast prolonged overnight rain camp, a couple of weeks back. It rained very lightly for about five minutes. I was gutted. :o(
Another beautiful wild camp..........right after you bought your Lavuu, I got mine and then later I got a pretty good deal on my BiviBag...and still later I finally tried the Trangia stove...... the Polish lavuu has def some advantages towards the bivibag, you can actually comfortably live in the lavuu, while the bivi is mainly just for sleeping........but I like them both the trangia is quite a handy little thing........I use on occasion, but my main stove is still my multi fuel compact camping stove ( by Enders, Germany WW2 surplus )
Yet another great video and demonstration of resolve to "just do it". On the question/answer about a ground cloth, could it be about keeping bedding dry as much as preventing noxious critter access? Here in the US, we have 4 venomous snakes (rattlesnakes, copperheads, cottonmouths and coral snakes) and I would not trust a simple ground cloth to provide adequate protection. Maybe a sewn in floor would provide a barrier.
Hooray somebody not apologizing for the sound of rain, I love it. Nothing better than being warm and dry listening to the sound of rain. ATB Kev
The sound of the rain is so calming.
really good to see you and Elsa in camp again.
Rain on canvas takes me back many years to my dad's wooden fishing boat with cabin tops of wood covered with painted canvas, and sleeping on board while tied up for the night. Such a soothing sound. Thanks for the video! I'm sure Elsa is great company!

She is so sweet Elsa. Love it when you take here with you Sandy . Love the rain recording it certainly helps my tinnitus!
Absolutely nothing better than rain on canvas.great test of your kit.
I think you missed part of the video Harold?
Unless you find yourself homeless in 2017/8 and it doesn't stop for 10 months...;-) Better now..
Another great example of how a mini adventure can be enjoyed so easily. Inspiring stuff, Sandy. Thanks as always!
Wife and I always enjoy your videos Sandy. We have a soft spot for Elsa, was good to see her out with you.

Did a reenactment last weekend and it rained both Friday and Saturday nights. Sleeping under canvas during a rain storm is soothing and I slept very well! Great video Sandy.

After see your use of the trangia and wind break I purchased the same, don’t know why I’ve never had a trangia before, great piece of kit,
That's the most comforting sound whether it be on canvas, nylon or the alli roof of a caravan, nice one Sandy 👌🏻🇬🇧
LOL This is true Paul, yes even the roof of a caravan sounds nice when the rain hits.
@@WiltshireMan I mentioned the caravan because I've lived in them for years a long time ago 👌🏻hope all's well and good your end Sandy.
Love your dog man! What a great companion for your camping trip.
Great suff, Sandy. Thanks from Vancouver Island!

Thanks Pete
Loved the rain therapy, brought back lots of happy memories of rain on canvas. Mostly use the campervan now, so it's rain on metal roof.
Who would be without an Elsa? Best company. 😊
Ahh that time when you have to leave a dry tent to face mother nature. Always hard! ATB Rob
Really enjoyed that as I worked from the home office into the wee small hours...you kept me company and I appreciate that. Felt like I was there under the canvas. Been following you for a while now and really enjoy your vlogs. Thanks for posting and hi from NZ.

Love falling asleep in the Motorhome with rain pattering on the roof :-) Agree on the Poncho tent. That is the way I was taught to make it up.
