Been running a Svea for 40 years now backpacking in the US. Great cold weather stove and has run on white gas, auto gas, and HEET ( methanol found in auto parts stores).
Hahaa, I can just see you pushing a wheel barrow up Kinder:) The Cold fields and Woods of Wiltshire and a Hike along the Ridgeway await. Just let me know when you want to come down. Sandy
That Buffalo jacket certainly is very good, but the manufacturers designed it to be worn against the skin, with nothing underneath. It wicks extremely well & is windproof to 50mph. When you get hot, simply open the side zips to ventilate, rather than take it off.Nice video, thanks for posting..
Sandy, the video is spot on, and a pleasure to watch. You are correct, only eat when you are hungry, and never buy anything new if you have something old that will do the job. Henry.
Loved hearing the owls Sandy. Im blessed here living next door to a flood alleviation project run by the EA. Its undisturbed and i often hear tawneys when walking the dog in the evening.
Very nice video of a very nice camp Sandy. Your set up out in the "Enchanted Forest", the forest with the magic beer tree. I always enjoy watching you using all of that old school camping equipment. The old stove and the lantern are a very tried and true method of bringing some simple comfort out in the woodlands. No need for expensive throw away fuel cannisters for your cooking or source of area lighting. Thanks for allowing us to join you on another adventure my friend. See you on the next one.
From Warwickshire to Wiltshire, thank you so much for the videos, absolutely love them , and thank you for your time making them ! It’s Very much appreciated .
As long as I can recall, the worst part of a camping trip has been always the time to hit the road again, leaving the magic place where we have got so nice memories... Beautiful Sandy!
The slugs have caused a lot of havoc in my garden Enrique. I've been making beer traps and there are fewer of them now. I don't think they like the cold either which is a good thing:)@@enriqueestebanantoniosuare6414
The yellow slugs are no concern in my garden Sandy, but the snails... They eat even the Aloe arborescens! The yellow slugs prefer the cat's and dog's pellet food, so every night I have to put the plates in nylon bags (the zip lock type ones)@@WiltshireMan
Really good video, you really showed how peaceful a woodland can be at night! Reminded me of my childhood in Durley. I lived down a lane with a woods right next to our land and it was so peaceful no streetlights or cars or anything else! Miss those days. Thanks.
Nice one - waited for that first hot tent! Beers looked really good too! Anytime you can find a tree with beer in it, you're in the right spot. beert = "tree" with "beer" in it :) Stay safe and healthy my friend, catch you on the next one!

Sandy, I wasn't anticipating that dark humor ("humour" 😄) at 22:24! Took me a second to get over the surprise and begin to chuckle. But at 22:30, I was already laughing before you uttered the expected "Maybe not." Among human beings' redeeming traits are compassion and humor. My late father was bedridden for a year with emphysema, cared for at home by my mother alone. I was working a critical job 2000 miles away and did not realize how poor his condition was until just a couple weeks before the end. Using up every bit of leave I had available, I got home to visit; but I didn't ask many of the questions I would have liked because many of those related to his wartime experiences* and my father's concern was to discuss financial arrangements for my mother. A night or two before I had to return to work, Mother and I were visiting with Dad when Mom grew chilled and crawled into the small bed with Dad to warm up. As she did so, Dad let out a yelp! "What the heck?" I asked. "She goosed me!" was Dad's reply. Now, anyone knowing my mother would understand that it was not very damn likely that Mom had deliberately goosed my father. That was just my Dad cracking funny about three days before he died. My late mother spent seventeen years grieving before her end came -- I did get her home to that same room for the last week of her life. * As a heavy machine gunner (MOS 605) in 163rd Engineer (C) Battalion, Dad spent some time camping in your country. His outfit was encamped at Over Norton prior to The Invasion. Commencing at Utah Beach a few days after that momentous event, Dad and company got to tour and "camp" their way across France, Germany and Austria for the next several months, though the adventure was not without its challenges that included foul weather and a few previous campers and local residents resentful of their presence.
Nice quiet pace Sandy, a lot of work I know but the rewards are great. I love the silence of a damp mouldy still winter woodland for it teaches us a certain humility and a sence of who we are in the scheme of things. Rewilding can only be done with effort. Keep going old friend. 👍👍👍. Harry

Fabulous no blooming owls 🦉 🦉 🦉 The couple outside our bedroom window have b##gered off too -living the dream 👍 Enjoyed that mate. All the best to you and yours, love to you all x
I really liked and found this video very relaxing Sandy! I was surprised by your Svea 123....I have used the stove and others like it over the years....Optimus 8R, Optimus 111 and MSR stoves. My Optimus 8R is 50 years old this year and the others just a bit younger. Here in the US it is getting very hard to get parts for the Svea and Optimus stoves. I don't find the ROAR of these stoves upsetting, in fact it is very comforting to hear this jet roar on a cold winter morning. To prime them I use an eyedropper. BTW one of my favorite things to make on these little demons is PIZZA! Thanks for a great post!!!
Thanks Sandy, another wonderful wild camp video. I don’t know anything better to de-stress and wind down to. Love the stove, I used to have an old Optimus 8r, but now stick with my Coleman multi fuel.
Ha…. You saying you wish it would all pack by magic! I’ve often had the same thought… I play in a blues band and at the end of a gig I always dread packing all the gear away and loading the van… the worst part of the evening… magic sure would be nice … lovely video Sandy nice to watch as I practice my guitar 😉
Sandy, if they sold pure bliss in a can, that camp out would be what it looks like! Absolutely loved that! Ps, as mentioned before, I have same woodswalker and also not keen on how it fits the chimney. Been trying to think of a mod... Maybe 3 small metal corner brackets screwed to the chimney connector, then butterfly bolts to the stove? Just as additional support. I may try that. And film it.
Hi Micky, thats interesting. I see that woodwalker have upgraded their stoves now to a better design. I still love my little stove though and think it has a lot of life left in it. I cut a small piece of steel to put in the bottom where the coals rest, I think this should prolong the life of the stove
@@WiltshireMan I couldn't find where to get in touch with the company to see if they sell the upgrade part, can't afford a new stove. It's a great little stove mind. I may have to mold it. .. steel on the bottom sounds like a good mod idea.
I used that model of stove for many many years as my backpacking cooking stove. As you mentioned, that stove has a potential for "flare ups" and that is the reason why I eventually retired it and tossed it in the garbage. I wish now that I had kept it for nostalgia reasons however, though not as a working stove.
Hi Lonnie, These old stoves are romantic "has been's" I think if everyone used them we would have a lot more tents go up in blazes!! But I do like old things :)
@@WiltshireMan lol I agree whole heartedly. Connie bought me an old antique optimus 8R stove that I highly value. I remember camping with a buddy when we were kids and he always borrowed his dad's optimus 8R while I used my SVEA 123. I also found me an old antique Radius No42 stove at a thrift store for just a couple bucks. It is a great working stove. I have never seen one like that before or since. No idea how much it is worth in money but it is worth a lot to me because of it's age and functionality.
Hi Sandy good video keep your eyes open for our winter visitors Fieldfares and that moon was the November moon also known as the Woodcock Moon which they reputedly fly in on from Scandinavia. Broken BSA man!!!!.👍
Wiltshire Man becomes Wheelbarrow Man! Your video editing has reached new heights Sandy. That first walk-in sequence until you started talking must have taken a lot of time and effort. Very impressive. Nice camp. Love to all, Noel
Quite a bit of editing in this video Noel but it was all good fun, I do enjoy making the videos. The humble "wheelbarrow" I'm sure is what got civilisation started :)
Well done 👍 You used your new drone to good effect on the way in. It looked like someone was filming you. Blimey! That breakfast looks delicious. Off work atm so been watching all your old videos; you can see how your presentation has improved to the level you’re at now. You are top RUclipsr with Eze Adventurer second imo. Both channels should have WAY more subscribers.
Do you like camping on your own? I guess you have done it for so long you are content to be alone. Thank you for another great video and to hear the owls - wonderful!
Very nice, 36 degrees C here at the moment so it was nice seeing a cooler theme happening! Here in Aus where we shorten the names of everything we just call Paraffin plain old Kero.
Another great vid. I can only begin to think how many hours go into making all your footage go into another production. Love all the old school stuff too. I’m mostly into new technology. There’ll have to be a camp-off 😎
Great job once again sandy. As a camper, I sometimes ponder why we leave such a warm, comfortable environment to lay on the ground and try to keep warm. The mysterious wonders of life. Not sure about getting a job at the tower of London but we would sure give you a job at Australian government house at the moment but I think they have already lost their heads. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers
Excellent! 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 love it! I’ve just bought my first tent stove so I’m excited to try it out soon! I must be getting soft in my old age 🤣….. thank you for another great enjoyable video Sandy ! Very best wishes mate 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Nicely done Sandy. A lot of kit for one night, but very comfy looking. A good way to recharge your batteries. I like the look of the Svea 123, sounds like a pulse engine. All part of the fun. Take care and best wishes Al
Nice little camp-out there WW. We've had a dusting on the moor hopefully it'll still be there for our camp this weekend, not camped in any snow now since you, me and Joe walked the Lych Way must be 5 years ago now.
Thanks Sandy. I’m so jealous 😂🤣😂 I can’t get out in my hot hammock tent until Feb I’ve got a tent just like your one but I find it to small really with a stove in it but my hammock tent I can stand up in it. Great video loved the time lapse. Stay safe riding. 👍👍
Fair play Sandy! Just watching you set up camp is so relaxing, but I could not do that for one night, it would have to be 2 or 3 at least, so well done again. I actually lit my hurricane lamp to watch this by, just to catch a bit of the atmosphere;)
Ah thats marvellous, I love my Hurricane lamps. I can only get enough time off for just overnighters at the moment but hopefully soon I will have a two or three day camp, probably after the shooting season
I love to watch just how relaxed you are .We all rush around like mad fools these days and forget the important things in life. I am 64 this year and have now retired so i need to make sure to take your lead and do the same. I am a biker (motor cycles ) and would love to see some streams that would cover equipment that would suit being carried on a motor cycle . Enough for two people without overloading the bike. Thanks Sandy nice one 👍👍👍👍👍
A lot of people are forced to rush due to lack of time and work commitments but now your retired you can set the pace. I shall hopefully be doing some moto camping soon but not in icy weather
Would it be better to pull the wheel barrow behind you like? Just a thought. Hey I watch Lost Lakes and somebody need to invent something like that for canooists when they are portaging 🤔😊
@WiltshireMan yes it looked good I've a dji Pro but so rarely use I used to carry and yes once or twice get it up lol but often not bother and not allowed on dartmoor and all regulated now which needed due to idiots like I said in one vid too lazy too lol 😅 you put to good use that looks a nice alternative type of camp A subscriber once offered a woodland that his relative owned for me to camp in but nothing ever came of it sadly. I did find some Cheddar trees not cheese 😆 recently and have thought about forest of Dean but the pigs bore worry me a bit Take care
Hi Donna, I always try to keep the camps as simple as possible as the kit all has to be carried in and back out again. Glaad you enjoyed the video :) Sandy
a cozy camp for one. I liked that you kept the fire small and the way you removed all the evidence.
Been running a Svea for 40 years now backpacking in the US. Great cold weather stove and has run on white gas, auto gas, and HEET ( methanol found in auto parts stores).

Another great vid. I can only begin to think how many hours go into making all your footage go into another production. Love all the old school stuff too. I’m mostly into new technology. There’ll have to be a camp-off 😎
Hi Chris, it takes a bit of time, around a whole day to edit this one
Great job once again sandy. As a camper, I sometimes ponder why we leave such a warm, comfortable environment to lay on the ground and try to keep warm. The mysterious wonders of life. Not sure about getting a job at the tower of London but we would sure give you a job at Australian government house at the moment but I think they have already lost their heads. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers
It's for the experience of being out in nature Daz, having a heated tent is very cosy
Lovely video, very relaxing
Excellent Sandy, I enjoyed that.
Welldone Andy, you will love the warmth a stove brings to a Winter camp. Game changer!
😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
Nicely done Sandy. A lot of kit for one night, but very comfy looking. A good way to recharge your batteries.
I like the look of the Svea 123, sounds like a pulse engine. All part of the fun.
Take care and best wishes
Al
Thanks Al, the Svea is a lovely classic stove but can be a bit of a faff getting going. Everyone should have one though:)
Nice one sandy, even the Blair witch bit , stay safe out there 👍😎
Wow beautiful location 😊
Nice little camp-out there WW. We've had a dusting on the moor hopefully it'll still be there for our camp this weekend, not camped in any snow now since you, me and Joe walked the Lych Way must be 5 years ago now.
Glad to see you out in the hot tent and using the Classic! Hoverair footage really impressive👍
Offie in the woods!
Hi Ed, I'm sure the woods will still be there in Feb and the way that time flies these days it will soon be February once again
The "maybe not" gave me a chuckle.
Excellent video Sandy really enjoyed it
I love to watch just how relaxed you are .We all rush around like mad fools these days and forget the important things in life.
That is wonderful editing and film making thanks for great video
Thanks Tony, I enjoyed filming this one, I used a Hover air X1 drone for some of the shots. Not cheap but a valuable tool for the creator
@WiltshireMan yes it looked good
I've a dji Pro but so rarely use I used to carry and yes once or twice get it up lol but often not bother and not allowed on dartmoor and all regulated now which needed due to idiots like I said in one vid too lazy too lol 😅 you put to good use that looks a nice alternative type of camp
A subscriber once offered a woodland that his relative owned for me to camp in but nothing ever came of it sadly. I did find some Cheddar trees not cheese 😆 recently and have thought about forest of Dean but the pigs bore worry me a bit
Take care
It’s amazing how all your gear packs down , very good video 👍😊
Hi Donna,
I always try to keep the camps as simple as possible as the kit all has to be carried in and back out again. Glaad you enjoyed the video :)
Sandy
Great camp.
