I think this soundtrack when I was like 9 subconsciously got me into electronic music when I got older
And life in the mines and fear factory and gangplank galleon...this whole thing is so good!
Fear factory randomly came in my head today out of nowhere. Its been SO long. I initially thought it was a Phaleah (sp?) Song for some reason. Or something like it.
My childhood. 🥲 Thank you for this. My mom never played video games but often would sit with me while I played this, and it was partly because the music is so good. Oh man my heart. She's no longer here, but this... This video is gold. Thank you. 💜

Me and my mom would play it together too, now when I listen to this soundtrack I think back at all the fond memories on Friday nights we would take turns trying to beat the minecart levels lol she unfortunately isn’t here anymore as well.

“Life in the mines” always manages to make me cry. Such a beautiful piece of art, closing in on nearly 30 years since it’s release.

I hate to be “that guy” but Donkey Kong is technically an ape and Diddy Kong is a monkey.
@@Flesh_licking_spider_monkeys I know there is a difference but i can't remember what it is, was it something with monkeys having a tail while apes don't?
@@lordhapax7414 yes that’s true. And apes are basically just a leveled up version of monkeys. They are usually bigger, don’t have tails, smarter, etc. my comment was just a minor nitpick.
43:32 when the beat hits
This game's music is the definition of atmosphere. Just one listen to any of the songs and you can just hear what it looks like, envision the colour palettes, the little details, how it would feel to be in there. A cold, hard, abandoned landscape in the bottom of an abyss for Misty Menace, the peaceful yet lonely ocean of Aquatic Ambiance, the dangerous, rickety bridge cave ride of Mine Cart Madness, and so much more. All through its amazing composition and instrument usage. Absolutely beautiful

I love this soundtrack so damn much.A snapshot of billions of memories, montage of gold. Growing up was so amazing, becoming grown has hurt so deeply. Life whips you around where ever it wants and you land where it tells you. Memories you keep. Nothing can take them.
18:36 this song is sooo relaxing and beautiful
I think that when the responsibles for these songs were doing the tracks, they didn't imagine that it would mark an entire generation of kids as like as it marked me. Thanks SNES for the biggest moments of discovery and exploring feelings i have ever had! ♥
Same i wasnt around when the snes came out or anything but love the games. My grandma has the system
The music i grew up with in this game is now my study/meditation music as an adult. hearing these boss sauce tracks in this game almost brings about a tear. just goes to show how much this game meant to me as a little one.
I agree with you completely, still a child at heart so I don't think I'm ever going stop listening to music like this
I meditate to all nostalgic gaming music for me, literally how I learned to meditate recently at the age of 30, when I could just shut off my own thought proccess and just sit back relax and enjoy the nostalgia.
Could not agree more my study, alone time, making out bills room has a Nintendo select and I let it play and use the level as a screen saver.
I love the atmosphere in the Northern Hemispheres theme. The melodies and harmonies make you feel like you're in a beautiful yet dangerous place.
Played these tracks for my two kids (3 years and 18 months respectively) and they were dancing to them! This music transcends the generations.
Aw man you should have the older one play some decent! That way they can have the memories too!
ya they head bang too'?!!!
I'm a kid sooo... I'm gonna tell you something.
These Soundtracks are so amazing and i still listen to it today. I remember when i was younger like 6-7 y old, i was playing DKC 1 and 2 on the original SNES from my cousin who was that young too but even if i wasn't really a fan of Dk i still enjoyed it and today i'm kind of a fan of Dk, idk why things change that way but yeeeah.
Awesome Game :D
I love how Nintendo goes around removing all these videos as they accumlate hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of views, but never releases these soundtracks for the market. Wtf Nintendo. I feel like Fry, shut up and TAKE MY MONEY (would be saying that if they released them but no. We can’t have nice things.)
I'd give them so much damn money. I'd buy all the soundtracks from the games of my childhood.
The DKC 2 soundtrack goes for around $600
their reasoning for it is once its out there people have the right to use it if they pay the license for it which they dont want.
nintendo hates money
@Lavos that's largely what nintendo does, when they release remakes of the big games and no supplementary content. Consider the diamond market, pumping out propaganda against lab-grown diamonds despite them being hundreds of times cheaper than diamonds dug out of the ground and oftentimes indistinguishable from "real" diamonds anyways.
Nintendo sells Mario games, pretty much the same Mario games, along with ports of the exact same games, and every once in a while create an innovative new title. Nintendo's all about making games around their systems (instead of making new systems for their games) and making _fun_ games, but to keep the money coming in, they also harvest seasonal nostalgia. The reason they don't release OSTs and don't allow fan creations is to get you to _want_ to spend so much money on OSTs and anything _Mario_ or _Zelda_ or _Donkey Kong_. The nostalgia factor is over 9000 for anything Nintendo, and that keeps sales super high.
Or... something like that.
I wish they'd let fan creations happen, especially emulators for which Nintendo literally refuses to offer their own paid service as a substitute. They take down all these free services instead of letting them coexist, or providing an official alternative, and that just kinda really sucks.
Me and my grandma never got to finish the games together before she died of a heart attack, everytime I see the game she gave me I start to cry and dont know what to do
A lot of strength my dear friend, you are going through a very hard time, you are strong, you are a beautiful person, she is very proud of you ❤️. Stay safe and hope you're better soon, a big hug❤️
That weird glitch that somehow helped you finish a hard part... Grams be looking out for you still.
Remember the good moments with her and finish the game.
The game can be tough, but it's beatable. Life is tougher and you can't beat life, just roll with unfortunate events, become stronger in the process and keep going, till it's your turn to meet your maker. The important thing is to keep going and never lose your soul. In some way the game could be seen as one of those tasks to overcome. Btw, it's easy to write this, but hard to live it.
I was lucky to have my grandma play this game with me but she always lost hehehehe she is still alive but she has dementia, so I kinda understand you. Peace and finish that game! Make grandma proud.

45:34 Misty Menace is *NEXT LEVEL* 😭🔥🎧
Perfect Soundtrack. A to Z.
Big up David Wise, you're a big part of my childhood.
Northern Hemispheres is easily one of the best tracks here IMO. Especially combined with the level it plays on.
You come out of this tunnel into a frozen land. The music plays quietly and mysteriously as you observe the snow-capped mountains in the background. As you progress through the level, everything ramps up. The music grows ever more intense, all while the snowstorm in the background begins to draw closer to you. Soon, you are lost in the midst of a blizzard, jumping, dodging and shooting from barrels.
That level along with the music created such a magical atmosphere. Fantastic game.
My #1
It is the very essence of a winter storm in the mountains.
Esa canción Hemisferios del Norte expresa mágicamente un Nevado, un nivel difícil, recuerdo que jugaba y jugaba y no lo podía pasar con mi hermano.
Hoy en día mi hermano no está pero llevo esos hermosos recuerdos
