Northern Hemispheres is easily one of the best tracks here IMO. Especially combined with the level it plays on. You come out of this tunnel into a frozen land. The music plays quietly and mysteriously as you observe the snow-capped mountains in the background. As you progress through the level, everything ramps up. The music grows ever more intense, all while the snowstorm in the background begins to draw closer to you. Soon, you are lost in the midst of a blizzard, jumping, dodging and shooting from barrels. That level along with the music created such a magical atmosphere. Fantastic game.
Esa canción Hemisferios del Norte expresa mágicamente un Nevado, un nivel difícil, recuerdo que jugaba y jugaba y no lo podía pasar con mi hermano. Hoy en día mi hermano no está pero llevo esos hermosos recuerdos
Me and my grandma never got to finish the games together before she died of a heart attack, everytime I see the game she gave me I start to cry and dont know what to do
A lot of strength my dear friend, you are going through a very hard time, you are strong, you are a beautiful person, she is very proud of you ❤️. Stay safe and hope you're better soon, a big hug❤️
Remember the good moments with her and finish the game. The game can be tough, but it's beatable. Life is tougher and you can't beat life, just roll with unfortunate events, become stronger in the process and keep going, till it's your turn to meet your maker. The important thing is to keep going and never lose your soul. In some way the game could be seen as one of those tasks to overcome. Btw, it's easy to write this, but hard to live it.
I was lucky to have my grandma play this game with me but she always lost hehehehe she is still alive but she has dementia, so I kinda understand you. Peace and finish that game! Make grandma proud.
i was so happy when i finally beat this game! the save feature they have on the switch makes the difficulty of this game alot less steep. for those who beat this on the Snes back in the day you really are badass.
I did a 101% Completion playthrough of the game by finding all of the hidden bonus rooms in each stage without using a guide on an actual SNES console. Given how cryptic some of those bonus rooms were, completing that game fully through trial and error as well as exploring and examining every square inch of every stage was one of my greatest achievements in gaming.
DK Island Swing has stayed rent-free in my head for almost 20 years at this point. Every time I would start drumming out of boredom I naturally gravitate to the initial beat.
Born in 1989..I def played this a lot as a kid on some old early 80s color TV with wood grain....oh man those days.....days gone by....I played this from 1994-1996 or so . Replayed as an adult a few years back. I never appreciated the soundtrack until I got older. This game is so so good, the soundtrack impeccable...
David wise easily has my spot for the most respected vgm composer. Every song from this game and it's amazing sequel are well worth remembering; on top of some of the most unique levels that any 2D platformer has to offer (espescially on the SNES)
I can agree with you, Rob Hubbard is a composer you could check up, an old and not so super interesting game, but Monty on the Run, is a huge influence for videogame composers forever after I would assume, but maybe if you have already heard him, :) Non the less I respect where you put David Wise ofc! :)
Still very playable so long after being made I take it that from your post HIS NAME JS DAVID WISE? Cheers for that I was just wondering about the composer When I seen your post
yeah Wise is indeed his name. he got a good rep from this series but also did Starfox Adventures, some things for Yooka Laylee, and i think some of Shovel Knight's dlc but i could be mistaken.
I love how Nintendo goes around removing all these videos as they accumlate hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of views, but never releases these soundtracks for the market. Wtf Nintendo. I feel like Fry, shut up and TAKE MY MONEY (would be saying that if they released them but no. We can’t have nice things.)
@Lavos that's largely what nintendo does, when they release remakes of the big games and no supplementary content. Consider the diamond market, pumping out propaganda against lab-grown diamonds despite them being hundreds of times cheaper than diamonds dug out of the ground and oftentimes indistinguishable from "real" diamonds anyways. Nintendo sells Mario games, pretty much the same Mario games, along with ports of the exact same games, and every once in a while create an innovative new title. Nintendo's all about making games around their systems (instead of making new systems for their games) and making _fun_ games, but to keep the money coming in, they also harvest seasonal nostalgia. The reason they don't release OSTs and don't allow fan creations is to get you to _want_ to spend so much money on OSTs and anything _Mario_ or _Zelda_ or _Donkey Kong_. The nostalgia factor is over 9000 for anything Nintendo, and that keeps sales super high. Or... something like that. I wish they'd let fan creations happen, especially emulators for which Nintendo literally refuses to offer their own paid service as a substitute. They take down all these free services instead of letting them coexist, or providing an official alternative, and that just kinda really sucks.
Especially if you think of how this game was Donkey Kong becoming more than just a 2D pixel mass. This was huge for Nintendo. I still have the VHS tape they sent me for this game.
To my shame I assumed David Wise wrote all the tracks. Just a few minutes ago I realise Eveline Fischer is credited with writing most of my favourites: Forest Frenzy, Treetop Rock, Northern Hemispheres, Ice Cave Chant. Mind blown.
I wasn't aware of this until you mentioned it here. Now that I know, you're right. Eveline tends to handle the moodier, ambient tracks, which certainly described the type of music prevalent in DKC3.
I looked it up. It said he had two composers with him "Robin Beanland and Eveline Fischer" interms of DKC1 game. Eveline Fischer did most of the soundtrack in DKC3 was also mentioned in a wikipedia link i read on
When this game was released in November 1994, I was a 7-year-old boy. Now I'm 37, and I miss my 90s childhood so much! Also, I can't believe how video games evolved so much! This game is a sacred part of my childhood. I like all the OSTs. The most catchy tunes are: 02:14 Simian Segue 04:52 DK Island Swing 11:28 Cave Dweller Concert 17:30 Bonus Room Blitz 18:36 Aquatic Ambiance 24:37 Bad Boss Boogie 27:09 Mine Cart Madness 54:16 Ice Cave Chant 1:04:09 The Credits Concerto
I'm a kid sooo... I'm gonna tell you something. These Soundtracks are so amazing and i still listen to it today. I remember when i was younger like 6-7 y old, i was playing DKC 1 and 2 on the original SNES from my cousin who was that young too but even if i wasn't really a fan of Dk i still enjoyed it and today i'm kind of a fan of Dk, idk why things change that way but yeeeah. Awesome Game :D
My kid LOVES these songs and gets so hype when I play the game. He runs around the whole house jumping and climbing like a monkey! He calls DK “Dad” and says Diddy Kong is him!!! When one of them gets knocked out in play he gets sad but then is so happy when he hears the DK barrel sound. This game definitely transcends time and generations.
DK theme Simian Segue Jungle Hijinx Aquatic Ambiance Life in the Mines Treetop Rock Ice Cave Chant Fear Factory Gangplank Galleon In my opinion, these are the best ones in the soundtrack ever (:
I remember being stuck in the mine cart part, my brother and I raging at the oncoming carts, lol ! Then after soooo many attempts he saved the day by nailing the run practically all by himself. It was such a relief. :)
Lo escucho para dibujar y para ir a dormir, puedo decir que me transporta a todos los escenarios y es realmente increíble, me da una energía emocional cada canción realmente uno de los mejores juegos que jugué en mi infancia y hasta la fecha.
The team LITTERALLY slaved to make DK 1 and 2, with the 2 creators of Rare being said to only take 2 days off a year. All for our enjoyment. THATS respect.
A lot of people remember David Wise, and rightfully so, but let's give it up for Eveline Fischer's "Tree Top Rock" That song f'ing goes man. I literally remember trying to beat that level as fast as possible because it got me so f'in hyped. I feel as though I'm going to cry tears of joy. 😂 F me Ice Cave chant was boss as well.
God, how I love this soundtrack, over the weekend I was able to see David Wise live, and God, I cried between the memories, the sound, transporting me to childhood.
The joy of getting to the end of Jungle Hi-Jinx, seeing the sun set, and then going back to the beginning of the level to see it all again in a nighttime color palette. Thank Kong they never had a timer in the entire trilogy except for bonus levels.
Amazing! It's cool to hear this while doing homework or your in tension, I was writing and had a headache and depressed but while listening this really refreshed my mind favs :3 Life in the mines DK Island Swing Credits Ice cave chant Forest Frenzy Aquatic Ambiance Theme
Even though David Wise was with Rare when it first formed, this is officially his first real breakthrough. Year after year, technology steadily improves, and it's only evident that an epic soundtrack led up to this.
not quite when it was first formed but very close David wise was found working in a music shop and was asked to demo a piece of equipment that Rare wanted and asked if it was alright if he payed a few bits of his own creations, they said yes and after they hired him as well as buying the equipment. And Off to a Chicken Shed in rural Warwickshire he went. and that is no Joke he worked for a time (on his own I might add) in a old Chicken shed while working on DKC.
Did anyone else just have the sudden urge to listen to this for some reason?

That weird glitch that somehow helped you finish a hard part... Grams be looking out for you still.

Also badass is what The Consouls did to Aquatic Ambience ;) ruclips.net/video/AcyzljYGgRg/видео.html

Still very playable so long after being made I take it that from your post
HIS NAME JS DAVID WISE? Cheers for that I was just wondering about the composer
When I seen your post
yeah Wise is indeed his name. he got a good rep from this series but also did Starfox Adventures, some things for Yooka Laylee, and i think some of Shovel Knight's dlc but i could be mistaken.
I'd give them so much damn money. I'd buy all the soundtracks from the games of my childhood.
The DKC 2 soundtrack goes for around $600
their reasoning for it is once its out there people have the right to use it if they pay the license for it which they dont want.
nintendo hates money
Fear Factory is such an amazing track - insane how that was possible with so few bits of storage.
La mejor banda sonora creada para un video juego por lejos. Es insuperable.

@@rhubarb5297 Only if you complain every time. Not worth doing unless it's offending someone.

As a kid i never even got to any of the levels with those songs lol. I gotta go back and try to beat this game now
I wasn't aware of this until you mentioned it here.
Now that I know, you're right. Eveline tends to handle the moodier, ambient tracks, which certainly described the type of music prevalent in DKC3.
