Thanks for the video! You mentioned we should consider other manufacturers as well as this one. Which manufacturers do you recommend?

Hi it depends a bit if you are looking for new or used equipment. Used ones good recommendations are Gossen,Minolta Sekonic and Polaris. If your looking for new equipment check with Kenko and Polaris. The Sekonic lightmeters are technically great but we had in Germany personally bad experience with their customer care. It did not really exist. We also tried to contact them about their policy concerning analog photography directly at photography fairs but always got the impression they do not care about analog photographers. This is only our experience and could be different in your part of the world. The product itself is great. On the other hand we noticed that Gossen is extremely good related to customer care.

I‘d wish the lenses would be rangefinder- coupled.

Nice review. Are the aperture rings clicked or not?

I hope they have greatly improved since their horrible Chinese knock-off debacle. People spent a tremendous amount on those cheap horrible lenses and got crap. I’m definitely going to wait and maybe even get an original.

I can't speak to the Chinese knock offs you refer to, I was not aware of such a thing. I can say the 58/1.9 Primoplan I received was made in Germany and is exceptionally well crafted, which of course it should be for the price. I bought mine in Leica M mount and like the other respondent says, I wish it was rangefinder coupled. Otherwise it is an exceptional lens if you like things a bit quirky.
