    Hello my friends! In today's video I'll review a great and cinematic manual focus portrait lens for Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras (Canon R/Sony E/Nikon Z/Lumix S/Fujifilm/Leica L), for DSLR cameras (Canon EF/ Nikon F) and Leica M cameras!
    The Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan 75mm F1.9 is probably the most interesting portrait lens I own. Almost all the photos in the video are jpegs, taken with the Panasonic Lumix S5 with the standard profile. All the videos have been filmed both with the S1 & S5 in V-log and graded with my Cinematic LUTs.
    The anamorphic videos have been filmed in 6k open gate 3:2 with the Lumix S1.
    More infos about the lens = www.meyer-optik-goerlitz.com/...
    A big thanks to Meyer Optik Görlitz for providing me the lens, to be able to create this video review! Nobody paid me or told me what to say in this video. I'm simply sharing my honest opinion about the lens, to help you understand if this is a good product for you.

    The Primoplan lenses (58, 75) which I have been playing with:) for a year now, are impressive for the control of “Longitudinal chromatic aberrations” when properly exposed. It’s the spherical aberrations that are unleashed to deliver that glow in the highlights. The low contrast wide open still contains information that can be manipulated, not crippled by veiling glare like some vintage lenses. They do exhibit some breathing, but When used as a taking lens with the Iscorama 54 mc that disappears and they become a freaking joy to use. Your review was enlightening and entertaining.
    The Trioplan 35 looks interesting, a possible candidate for real world testing and explorations?

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  2 года назад

      Hey John! Yeah I agree 100%, I love that with these lenses we can have a really clean bokeh! The trioplan seems like another amazing lens, I'll try to make a video review about it! Cheers!

    I am really glad that they make this lens with an M42 mount as well. I am currently using Fuji, but that does not mean I will always shoot Fuji... so I preper not to be invested completely in that system. I have many vintage M42 lenses that I love using and have a focal reducer-speed booster for those. so in case I decide to switch camera, I only need to get a different focal reducer. would love to find a review where they pair this lens with a speed booster!!!

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  3 месяца назад

      The speed boosters are always changing the original performances of the lenses, so you'll probably getting different results than me. I'm glad you also like this lens...I find it very beautiful and unique! Cheers!

    This one reminds me Helios 44-2 I have used with m4/3 system. It's also a gret lens too. And besides it's very cheap. I've spent around 50 euros for it. Definately gonna look at this one. Thank you Luca!

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  2 года назад +1

      I also have the helios 44-2 and I like it, but this Primoplan is playing on a totally different league...both lenses don't match much together

    Brilliant review Luca! I would love to see how it pairs with the 50mm/58mm by Meyer Optik Gorlitz, which I've heard is not quite as stunning as the 75mm. M.O.G. should send you some copies to review based on how wonderful this video is.

    Great review. What is the difference between this and the biotar 75mm also by MOG?

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад +1

      Thank you! The Biotar 75mm is not out yet, so I don't know it. But I'm pretty sure that lens will have a swirl that is going outward, instead of inward like the primoplan. And it will probably have some barrel distortion...In the video review of the Biotar 58mm F1.5, there are some comparison clips between the Primoplan 58mm F1.9 and Biotar 58mm F1.5. That will help you understand what I'm talking about. Cheers!

    Great review Luca, question pls, is there any big difference compared to leica r 90mm mounted with isco ultra star red? Should I get get one for my anamorphic setup and replace it with my Leica r 90mm, second question, you said cenimatic, how far is compared to leica r or zeiss Contax planar 85mm 1.4? Worth to get one and pay almost 1k

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  Год назад

      Yo! Imho, the lens is worth the money. There are no vintage lenses that have this look, at this price point.
      The Leica r 90mm has less character than the Primoplan...there will be projects where you want a clean look and projects where you want a more interesting look, so it's up to you. Ideally you should have both of them.
      In terms of "cinematic look", I prefer the Primoplan 75mm over the planar 85 and cron r 90mm...mostly because of the 15 aperture blades, it has an interesting bokeh and it doesn't suffer from color fringing.
      If you pass by Amsterdam I can let you try the lens ;)

    • @LucaBono.Studio
      @LucaBono.Studio  2 года назад

      Thank you Robert! Yes, the lens produce a swirly bokeh if you place the subject at 1.5m and you've a busy background at 4/5m far. Cheers!
