super review. Its not for me, but wow the anamorphic setup is almost 3d! I never seen that before, because of the swirly bokeh you get depth and separation when amplified by the anamorphic stretch.
Thanks! Yeah, the anamorphic look is super nice with this lens. It's actually performing beautifully with 1.42x anamorphic, while the 2x is a bit too much imho
Hey Luca, regarding using the Primoplan 58 as an anamorphic taking lens, did you find the glass being set deep into the housing to be a factor at all? I have the new Primoplan 75, and the glass in that case is quite close to the front of the lens, so it's quite close to the rear of my Aivascope. My original Biotar 58 is also set quite deep, and it seems to be a nice taking lens nonetheless. Just curious your observation. Thanks!
Hi, yes the front glass element is a bit deeper than the Primoplan 75, so you may get some vignetting. I've very minimal amount of vignetting with the Iscorama 42, but that's a 1.42 X scope, and I've a big amount of vignetting with the Kowa 8z (both tested in 3:2 full frame open gate). Cheers!
Hi! The primoplan has less distortion than the biotar. The primoplan has also a bit of glow if used wide open, so it's up to you and the look you want to get. I would probably prefer the primoplan as all purposes lens. Cheers!
Hello, I have a question for you. Have you also dealt with the Biotar 58mm 1.5 II? I mean what the Primoplan differs from the Biotar apart from the 1.5 vs 1.9 aperture. I cannot find such a comparison anywhere on the internet. I would also like to buy 75mm and I don't know whether to take Primoplan or wait for Biotar.
Hi! Yes, soon I'll make a comparison between the two 58mm lenses. I just received the Biotar 58mm F1.5 II. They're pretty different and I don't think one is better than the other. Cheers!
@@LucaBono.Studio Thank you for your response. Can you tell in how long can this comparative review be expected? The point is that I need to buy glass quite urgently and nowhere can I find any reviews of this new Biotar 58 1.5 II. I need this lens for filming. And are you able to at least say which one is sharper and has cooler bokeh? I like this bubble bokeh from these lenses, ultimately I also want to buy 75mm and I also have a dilemma whether to buy Primoplan or wait for Biotar because it is supposed to be available at the end of the year. By the way, it's great to watch your reviews;) good job!
The comparison video will come in few weeks. The Biotar is razor sharp wide open at f1.5 and it has a pretty strong swirl. The Primoplan is razor sharp at f2.8 but I think it has a more interesting bokeh. It's difficult for me to say buy this instead of that...it's your money. I can only say that I really like the Primoplan lenses and I'll probably like the Biotar too ahahah. Cheers!
@@LucaBono.Studio Hello again, I have a question for you. Do you now have a 58mm II 1.5 Biotar? If so, would you be able to send me something showing its sharpness and bokeh at full aperture? I really care about it, because I do not know whether to wait for the availability of new Biotars, because they are not for sale in Poland yet.
Definitely a special lens with attractive character. I like how the specular highlights remain circular as the lens stops down.
Yes, I really love the character of this lens! It's one of my favorite in the 50/60mm range. Cheers!
In few weeks I'll upload the review of the new Meyer Gorlitz Trioplan 35mm f2.8! Stay Tuned!
Adding this to my taking lenses wish list! Swirly bokeh and rainbow flares are always welcome :)

Excellent video 😊!
Thank you very much
Nice video! The Pentagon 50mm 1.8 (Meyer Optik Gorlitz oreston) Is so so dope.
Yeah I've that lens too! But I find that the primoplan lenses are much better. Cheers!
love the oreston lens. i find it a good balance of most things i could ask for in a 50mm.
Great job! Would the Trioplan series have more soap bokeh over these Primoplan?

Hi, thanks for review; which of these two new MOG 58mm lenses would you choose for portraits? Biotar or Primoplan?

BIO or PRIMO ? - help me Obi-Wan.
Primo

Hi there, whats was your anamorphic setup with this lens?
Hi! I was using the Isco Ultra Star. Cheers!

1:38 on the bridge is it true that it says "Indonesie"?
Yep! It's Indonesia written in Dutch.
