⚠// UPDATE - The strong flares were caused by the Viltrox EF-L Pro adapter. When I use the Biotar 75mm F1.5 II with any other adapter, the flares control of the lens are much better. Sorry about it! I didn't know that this Viltrox adapter doesn't have an anti-reflective coating inside the barrel. //
I am using this lens (biotar) and you are right on about the lens characteristics. Sometimes the flare is nice, but sometimes it is just annoying. Also, in my lens, contrast seems to be impacted alot by ambient lighting. I purchased a telephoto hood from B&H and that seems to have helped. Also worth mentioning is that the minimum focus distance is a bit less than 1 meter. If you get the M-mount you can use a close focus adapter for mirrorless cameras.
very nice and informative video! i currently shoot the original Biotar 58 and old Primoplan 58 and love them both-if i were to get a 75mm option it would for sure be the new optics. thanks for sharing!
This looks like a beautiful lens with a very unique rendering. I shall have to try it. A wider angle such as a 35mm or (better still for me) a 28mm, would be even better.
At the moment I'm mostly using the Iscorama 42 but it's too rare and you'll not find it...you could use the iscorama 54 instead. As 2x stretch, I use the Kowa 8Z and Isco Ultra Star. You can try to find them on E-Bay. Good luck!
Hey Luca - this is not related to this vid but I hope you will see the comment. Have you seen the video about Kolari now offering an OLPF for the Lumix S cameras? If you have seen it, what are your thoughts?
how much money you get for this video ???? total crap lens i can do with worst sony lens more sharp images like this lens do and it will cost much less than this crap !!!!

I quite like them ahah, reminds me of the much expensive SP3 Cooke 75mm that I rent from time to time

Yeah, the lens hood helps a lot! True about the M-Mount trick...I didn't think about it! Thanks for sharing it 🤟🏻
Thank you for doing this! Been waiting on this
You're welcome!
Yes! Same here.
Great Video! 🎉
Please name of anamorphic adapter.
Can one anamorphic adapter be used for different lenses? I'm asking for a sony e mount
Thank you, very well made comparison!
Thank you!
Luca, did you give the Dulens a try? the pop and rainbow is there but gone once stopped down to f4+
Just got myself and man, i am super impressed
Congrats mate! No, I didn't. I generally rent the Leica M0.8 or Cooke when I need cinema lenses

Yeah, this lens is lovely! let's hope they will create a 28/35mm f1.5 one day. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for review! Just considering if it is worth to add 75 to 58 mm. Is there much difference apart from the focal length? ))
Yes, absolutely. For portrait photography the 75mm is more ideal because it has less barrel distortion. cheers!
Nice man, seems like a legit option. Nice vid
Thanks buddy! Yeah, I love this lens!
I see that the Biotar is available in EF mount, the Primoplans in EF and RF mounts.
It seems like that some lenses are in production. Probably they're out of stock
Hi Luca, which anamorphic adapter do you use/where to find? Thank you!

What are you using for a lens hood (since Meyer does not offer one)?
Just a 62 to 67mm step up ring. It's deep enough to protect the front element of the lens

Hi! Yes, I saw it! Honestly, that's something I wouldn't do...especially for the warranty of the camera. Cheers!
How does it mix with Zeiss Classics? If you shoot in the same video with a 50mm Planar f/1.4 and a 35mm f/2 Distagon (both ZF)
I don't think it will match...in your case, the Zeiss Classic 85mm f1.4 will be a better buy. Cheers!
gorgeous!
Yeah, it's a beautiful lens!

Luckily for our wallets, we don't have to like all the lens out there. If you don't like it, it's not for you 😉
