There are a lot of things where some people aren't comfortable and that's okay, but there are also people using these kinds of terms as empowerment, which I think is great in the right spaces where you know you aren't offending someone who has had that used against them.

I'm not surprised that vibe is hitting with kids now. I feel like in the 2000s and 2010s there was this edge to the world because we'd dealt with trauma that we had to spread it, so you wouldn't get hurt by the world. Or so the world couldn't hurt you first. But already kids are realizing fuck that. The harder the world is, the softer you must be to those living in it. We're all open wounds trying to stitch together the best scars for ourselves and it's better to help steady each other's hands than to slap them away.

There's an idea in psychology that not only do we view our past and future selves as different people, but that we tend to condemn and criticize our past selves as an ego defence mechanism to augment our own perceptions that we're changing for the better. You managed not to fall into that trap at all. I liked how you laughed at yourself and cringed when it was valid, but also stood up for your past self and held onto the things about you that have consistently been worth being proud of.

Yes, they will be back in a minute.
Someone was sitting here and they left their book, would you please give it back to them as I have to go.

It's so ironic that people like KG claimed that you and people like you were harming the trans community with, what was at the time, your extremely small platform - in comparison to him and others like him with a massive platform harming countless trans people. He made me insecure in my transness and made me feel like I might be faking it. I had to make sure I felt ENOUGH dysphoria, otherwise I felt I wasn't truly trans. His rhetoric made me actively choose to seek out things from within myself to feel shitty about, because I was led to believe it would validate my transness.
Seeing your videos on the damage KG has done, and other creators' videos like Cops Hate Mo, made me realize how many more people he had made feel the way I felt. Specifically people under the non-binary spectrum, or people who are binary trans but don't present the way he and other truscum saw fit.
KG knew how much authority he had in the community, and used it to harm real trans people knowingly. When I used to watch his content, he had enough points which did make sense to me that I thought all of what he said must have some truth to it. But, him saying that all trans people have to have dysphoria by default to be trans never sat right with me. I couldn't understand why I could never make sense of that, when I could convince myself to agree with much else of what he said. I felt dysphoria, but I thought statistically speaking there must be some trans people out there who don't. Then again, it made me feel like I was advocating for someone who possibly doesn't exist in real life, only in hypotheticals. But I thought, surely even if I didn't experience dysphoria, I would still be trans? Surely on days I have no dysphoria at all, I AM still trans? Later, it hit me as to why.
I had read a post once that advocated for gender euphoria over gender dysphoria, and eeeeeeeverything made sense. It was why I knew deep down that even if I didn't have dysphoria, I would certainly still be trans.
And it's because feeling too uncomfortable to be seen without a binder on doesn't make me feel trans. Being unable to look in the mirror some days because I don't have the body I want doesn't make me feel trans. Hearing a playback of my voice and cringing doesn't make me feel trans. Getting irritated when people call me "miss" or "maam" doesn't make me feel trans. Being dysphoric doesn't make me feel trans, it just makes me feel...bad.
Getting told "excuse me sir?" and the heat rising to my face in excitement, makes me feel trans. Little kids calling me "that boy over there" or "that person" and reveling in the fact that to an innocent and unbiased eye I am not immediately categorized as female, makes me feel trans. My coworkers and friends using my preferred pronouns, makes me feel trans. Wearing makeup and skirts and pink bracelets and fishnets and shaving my legs and walking in heels and boys thinking I'm cute and me knowing all the while that I'm STILL not a girl, makes me feel so trans! Wearing a binder and contouring my jaw and wearing loose pants and sneakers and an oversized hoodie and looking in the mirror and getting gender envy from my own reflection makes me feel so fucking trans!
I don't feel "most trans" when I am at my most sad, when I am feeling my most dysphoric, when I am disgusted and depressed and don't even want to be seen. I feel my most trans when I'm comfortable with myself and feel like I look good and when people around me use my pronouns regardless of how I present. My transness isn't defined by my worst moments, and if it is for anyone that has been made to feel that way, then I am really sad for you and hope you feel gender euphoria someday.

@@vinartiste3197 I'm 26 and have questioned my experience with gender since highschool, so it's taken me a long time to get here! But I think most of that is because we didn't have the tools back then, to explain ourselves with. Every trans person I knee thought suffering was all there is until you can afford surgery. We didn't really discuss that you don't need surgery to be trans or to be comfortable with yourself, and that being trans AND being comfortable in the body you were born with can exist at the same time. I am glad that the way we look at ourselves is becoming more and more positive while you are still so young, and that there are so many trans people setting a good example for young trans folks. I don't think it's ever to late to change, but it's a nice thought to know that so many young trans people today don't have to be brainwashed and conditioned i to hating themselves for years or decades or their whole lives. Now that these things are being said, younger trans folks like you can see trans people like us and get here much faster than we did. I hope you know, you will get here! And hopefully with a lot less suffering than those before you 💛

just a suggestion for the editing -- don't be afraid to leave a second of silence between sentences. it allows the listener time to process what was just said before moving onto the next sentence. having a constant stream of uninterrupted speech- and speech that overlaps between cuts- just kinda turns into white noise, and its a lot to process. at least, for me it turns into white noise. being autistic plays a part in my suggestion here

I’ve been silently watching your videos ever since your amazing comeback and I really love everything you’ve been producing. I just had to comment on this one because this video brought me so much joy. Your message of living life as a happy queer person speaks so much to me. I’ve always hated the concept of needing to suffer to be “truly trans” or “truly LGBTQ+” in general. That the community is for the suffering who just can’t be as happy as cisgender, straight folks. It just makes no sense to me. I grew up in a tiny town in a third world country, was raised in catholic school and if it wasn’t for the internet I never would have found the words and the courage and the knowledge to understand myself and all of the different queer parts of my identity. And as I got deeper and deeper into the community, it’s been becoming increasingly weird to see how at first the more I knew the happier I felt, and at some point I started “knowing so much” that I only ever seemed to find new things that got me less happy. I started realizing how many people out there despise our community (and existing in a country with a disgusting conservative president such as Bolsonaro, where conservative christians are most of the country, has made this especially clear), and seeing people inside the community contributing to gatekeeping and this suffering mentality really just makes it so much worse. Now this video, seeing your happy, joyful teenage self just being happy existing as a queer individual is so refreshing. Seeing your respect for your own journey, your own growth and your experiences is so inspiring. Watching you right now, today, still advocating for living life as our best selfs and loving our transness and our queerness and thriving in the joys of being just the way we are… it’s a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much for making this. I really needed it, and I’m certain lots of other young and queer people really need it too. Lots of love from Brazil. (he/they)

my advice is before deciding on a theater program talk to someone who was in the program or who is currently in the program and ask them these things:
Have you or anyone you know in the program had a mental health crisis while in the program? If so how did the professors deal with it?
How do the professors discuss and deal with mental health? Do they contribute to or relieve mental health issues?
Do you feel respected by your professors?
      Are you over worked?
Do the professors encourage or discourage working in theaters outside of the program, or just working in general outside the program?
Also don't go to a theater school in Florida.

I don't understand people who want to invalidate others' identities, but then act like they're so secure. You know when I was all about invalidating people? When I was starting to figure out that being trans was a legit thing and there was a reason why I felt like I always have, but I was angry and didn't want to feel that way and took it out on others. I have, luckily, changed since then. There's no reason to try to tell someone they aren't what they say they are unless you're uncertain about something in yourself. Periodt.

Brennen I enjoyed watching this thank you for this wonderful video. I'm a 30 year old trans man who happens to use the same identifiers as you in that I'm also a non binary trans man. For you it was Tyler Oakley, for me it was Ruby Rose's Break Free in 2014. (Though I use he/ him and have personally never felt comfortable with they / them but am often misgendered with they / them by well meaning people.) I'm living abroad and currently unable to transition here. But much like you were I try not to let it bother me much and as we speak I'm wearing pink that I fortunately found in the men's section here. Granted it was heavily discounted but still. It's terrible what happened to you and it's sad that you've had to lose some parts of that bright kid you were who was never saying anything wrong or that you feel that you can't engage with the color pink. I remember seeing a KG video once in my questioning process and his content just felt wrong so I was never interested in it. Being a little older throughout this time helped me as well to be more immune to any criticisms. Like you I initially thought I was gender fluid, I then realized there was a fundamental masculine aspect of my identity that was also androgynous, ambiguous and flamboyant. I don't mind engaging with femininity as a man. But I teared up seeing that taken from you to some degree. You never deserved it. I'm so glad to see people coming around as they get older, all of you have been so young and the transmeds clearly projecting their pain and self rejection unapologetically has been incredibly toxic. At least Storm Ryan acknowledged his behavior to some degree. I didn't expect that day to come and I'm glad he seems to have taken some degree of accountability for that. You are a solid grounded person who has retained enough of yourself to maintain the same general thought processes and the same perspective that was at its core kind, self accepting, and supportive, and seeking to spread that positivity beyond yourself to the queer and trans community and you continue to do so. You have emerged from this like a phoenix.
