The videos he reacted to still were bombarded with tons of hate. These views are the root of the problem because they breed hate and create an audience who bullies others. Is it just me or is Kalvin incredibly sexist? He told Samantha Lux to “stick to her makeup” when she gave him valid criticism, and the tone in his voice when he says “oh I guess we’re calling her _she_* and then goes on to fatshame Brennen... and whenever he sees someone that’s visually more feminine he goes “oh they’re female presenting 🙁” with some sort of disgust in his voice. It would also explain why he’s so anti-sjw, since sjw originated from the feminist movement. It seems like Kalvin has a lot of insecurity he likes to reflect onto others lol. That’s why he got so offended when Brennen gave valid criticism and only got 533 views. 533 views doesn’t seem like a lot to us, but to a person who is so insecure they can’t handle anyone else’s perspective on them, it was a lot to him. I don’t think it’s just sexism either, I think it’s just anything he deeply hates about himself, he reflects that insecurity onto others. That’s why he keeps fatshaming. Not to shame him either, but he’s called multiple people “fat” (in a negative way) when he’s about the same size as them.. did anyone else notice that?
    And to top it all off: how he bullies other trans people when he’s literally trans. He’s just insecure and a literal bully. A bully reflecting his self hatred and insecurities onto everyone else. He also wants to seem like “yes I’m trans but I’m not like other trans people” like damn bro you’re so quirky lol.
    Sorry if my comment is super messy, there’s just a lot to say about this guy. If he doesn’t already have one, he should seek a therapist. And a healthy outlet. It seems like he wants to please sexists, transphobes, and just any sort of bigot because he likes feeling validation from them. He’s one of those “I’m not like other trans people.” I really hope he can just reflect on all of this and become a better person.

      The saddest things is that autism and transness (lots of non binary and non conformity) often go hand in hand. I think it's totally cool for someone to be autismgender. Consider autistic people experience the world differently, gender as well.

    • @hibikiotonokojishslvocalis7550
      @hibikiotonokojishslvocalis7550 3 года назад +96

      @@sam-fv4ps That's not exactly right, friend. Some studies show that people with autism are considered less inhibited by social maxims, including ways different genders are supposed to stereotypically behave. Autistic people who express a gender identity that doesn’t conform to their assigned biological sex can also be seen as doing so because they’re refusing expectations society has placed on them. So, maybe autism isn't the person's gender as a whole, but it _can_ have a big impact on your gender.

    • @Treegona
      @Treegona 3 года назад +42

      @@sam-fv4ps Ok, maybe I can explain it in a way that makes sense to you. When you consider who you are, it's like you're looking in a mirror. You compare yourself to other people, to the concepts you know, what your understanding of gender is. You look at how you like to wear your hair, and your clothes, you look at your walk and your talk, and you compare those to how the people around you dress and interact with the world. And you go "I'm more like group A, this matches what's on my birth certificate!" or "I'm more like group B, this doesn't match what's on my birth certificate :(" (*note: ofc it's not just the things I mentioned, but this is a metaphor).
      Now, let's say you're legally blind. You can't see the mirror clearly. You can see rough shapes, but. There's very little detail. You look at your neighbor, and you can kind of recognise the pattern as being group A, but it's hard to really articulate how or why, or maybe you only know because they told you. Applying these things to yourself? Doesn't work.
      Or maybe you're completely blind, and you know people only by touch. They tell you they're in group A or B, and you can recognize those patterns, but the difference in perspective means that you yourself don't fit into either pattern. At all.
      That's my understanding of what it means for your neurodivergence to influence your understanding of your gender. You say that autism has "NOTHING" to do with gender, but don't list your sources. Are you autistic? Are you a clinical psychologist? Are you a researcher, working on how ASD intersects with gender or sexual divergence? If you need my own references: I have ASD. I don't personally identify with any neurodivergence-related genders, but I understand how neurodivergence can influence gender. I've spoken to a few people who identify as one of the "like 70 something genders made up" (which makes it pretty clear you only identify as one made up gender).
      This accomplishes that people have a better model for their own gender. That they know how to make themselves comfortable in their own skin, or explain how and why they feel to others when asked. It spreads awareness that hey, you can be something other than cis/het/binary/allo. And I think that's worth something -certainly more than worth telling you to stay in your goddamn lane.

    • @ThePhantomSafetyPin
      @ThePhantomSafetyPin 3 года назад +75

      @@ashm2338 As someone who's on the autism spectrum, I'm going to gently caution that you probably should not compare being trans with being autistic. Not everyone trans is autistic, and not every autistic person is gender non-conforming, trans, etc. I know you probably mean well, but it can open up the gates to potential ableism and a lot of unwanted attention considering autistic people like me often are considered unintelligent or defective in some way, and in some circles "autistic" is even slang for "mentally disabled". It also comes off a little cringe to say that a diagnosis can count as a gender. I'd personally be slightly offended if someone assumed my gender was 'autistic', because that's just one aspect of my personality and it has *nothing to do* with my gender identity. The way my mind works doesn't really track with what gender I feel I am (female for the record). It's kind of like assuming someone with ADHD's gender is "ADHD", or assuming someone being an African-American means they are "black-gendered". It's a different aspect of identity.

    And it's a bad thing?
    One of the reasons why I've never fully accepted transphobia (even tho I was raised in a pretty conservative country) is because it's basically repacked sexism. That's also why binary transsexuals are more socially acceptable. You don't need a lot of restructuring to make place for them. Non-binar and genderfluid people are more tricky. You can't put them in a box and give them a fixed role in society

I am constantly afraid that people will think I am faking because I only use my wheelchair when outside because I can't walk long distances with out being in extreme pain or literally being unable to walk anymore. It's infuriating and upsetting that someone else has to go through a great fear of mine. Also those phych ward people are assholes, like seriously what did they ever do to you for you to be so nasty. And he’s an actual trans person, so he must have more experience than me.” I started thinking that there was some sort of test you had to take in order to even just say you’re trans, and that being somewhere in between man and woman wasn’t real. It hurt me a lot.
      I honestly have no idea if I’m trans or not, and I really don’t care anymore. There are too many other issues going on right now. While back, once I realized that I was in a really bad place, I chose not to worry about whether or not I am trans, and just do what feels right, even if that changes.

    Ex-Kalvin Garrah supporter here, a lot of the reasons why he had such a huge platform was gender validation; that I was being trans the right way. I felt so much hate in my heart for these “transtrenders” who were invalidating my experience. I’m still questioning who I am and I never had the stereotypical experience of a transman, much like the people he targeted. I am so scared of being a “trender” and that I’m not real. I need to grow up and realize that nobody has to have that stereotypical experience. That you can self identify as anything you want and are still valid. I truly thank Moe and anyone who called him out, if they didn’t, I think I would still be a huge transphobe.

    the section about Ashton and how Kalvin made fun of "botched top surgeries" really really hurt me... my mom got breast cancer when i was like 5/6. thankfully she survived and has been completely cancer free to this day but she had to get both of her breasts removed during her treatment.
    she has tried like 3 times to get breast implants but each time they got infected and had to be removed, at that point she just gave up and realized that it wasnt worth it to keep getting surgery on her chest. all of the scar tissue and how the surgeon closed the wounds (in case she "ever changed her mind and wanted implants") left her chest disfigured. it looks very similar to the picture on the left in kalvins "dark side of top surgery" video.
    basically what im saying is that for one, not everyone who gets surgery to remove their breasts does it because theyre trans, sometimes women, who otherwise are happy with their breasts, are forced to because, like my mom who was sick with cancer, it could save their life.
    it took my mom years to overcome being self conscious about her chest and if i ever saw anyone using photos of her chest to mock how it looks and go on about how awful it would be to "look like that"..... i would fucking be devastated.
    I just wanted to share this to show how ignorant and downright hateful kalvin is for making that video and thinking it was okay to uplaod. he made it out of pure malice and insecurity. i cant fucking believe i used to watch and like a few of his videos, hes just not a good person at all.

    I have a small vendetta against Kalvin Garrah. I found him before he attacked Brennen, as I was attempting to learn how to be a good ally to trans folks (I'm a cis lesbian). What he was saying initially rubbed me the wrong way a bit but I put that to the side because I thought, "I'm cis, he's trans. His opinion on trans issues outweighs mine." I realized that this case was an exception when he started bullying people but I'm definitely ashamed that I listened to his content and adopted some of his views. Luckily I didn't know any trans people irl and would only meet them after I was disillusioned, and I'm really ashamed to think how I could have acted if the timeline had been different. so I take personal responsibility, but also, I'm irate at Kalvin for enabling and furthering my cis idiocy.
    Also, something to add as an autistic and disabled person: most people in wheelchairs are capable of walking short distances and standing. The problem is it takes a lot more effort and they can't do so for long periods of time. I am not a wheelchair user but I have such severe chronic pain that I have had to occasionally use the ones provided in public places. Paralysis is pretty rare and many wheelchair users are actually encouraged to practice walking and standing to prevent muscular atrophy. Also, being autistic does not reduce your right to do anything in the world and does not invalidate your gender, sexuality, or anything else.

Kalvin acknowledges that there are certain conditions where a person using a wheelchair can walk...but apparently he has an issue with people "flexing" about being in a wheelchair. Are wheelchair users just not allowed to take pride in who we are? Do disabled people need to be in a constant state of self loathing and agony to keep their disability membership card?

    • @sheridanvance7426
      @sheridanvance7426 3 года назад +5

      @@TuesdaysArt that’s true. I think broader society tends to have their own ideas of what disability looks like. Society tends to want to picture people with disabilities, as being sad or depressed because they are disabled. That’s why when some people see an instagram post with a disabled person smiling and being happy, some of the first things to go to their minds is to question the validity of the person. I think part of it stems from people wanting to play “hero” when it comes to people with disabilities, so they don’t like it when they see someone with a disability thriving and living their best life. It also stems from a severe lack of representation whether in films, tv, or social media.

I literally forced myself to be cis for one entire year, and I was suffering so much by pretending that I was cis that I attempted suicide many times, and that also made me develop an fucking eating disorder. He and Blaire were two people that made me feel invalid on my own transness, and I can never forgive them for this. They are bullies that project their insecurities on other people, causing hundreds of trans teenagers feel invalid on their own identity.
    (I can't change my name, cause my parents ain't supportive and I'm not out to anyone, so excuse the name)

    He made a video about he/him lesbians as well and kinda just invalidated pronoun noncomforming lesbians (basically anyone who identifies as a lesbian and uses he/him, they/them or any other pronouns besides she/her or she/they. If they don't use she as a pronoun then they COULD be considered pronoun nonconforming). That sucked. Not sure if he meant what he said about he/him lesbians but his video when I searched the topic up had the most views about he/him lesbians. I hope he knows that pronouns do not ALWAYS equal an individual's gender. It can but not always.

    Kalvin is literally the reason why I haven't told anyone that I'm non-binary, almost everyone knows I'm ftm but I identify as masculine non-binary, because when I first started watching his videos at around 9/10 years old I thought that what he was saying was right because he was basically a role model for me and then when I got older I realized that what he was saying was wrong and disgusting and it made me feel like I didn't deserve to fully be me because I'd be treated how he treats "transtrenders", the only people who know I'm non-binary are my mom and my ex girlfriend who is trans mtf, ill never feel comfortable enough to come out publicly as non-binary because even tho I know how he acts isn't how a lot of people act towards non-binary people, I wish I didn't watch him as a child because I can never truly be myself because of him

      I am kinda the opposite , I have more body dysphoria than social dysphoria ... this kind of rhetoric though has made me still label myself cis with issues. I am cool with being referred as she and displaying femme but want to get top surgery . I think my experience though has always made me sympathetic to nonbinary people even if I had doubt towards myself. I know if I exist then people like you logically exist too.

I kinda identify with it because I've been like that and I've even made RUclips videos during that time in my life that were, in retrospect, very cruel. But we didn't have trans youtube how we do now. I probably only got like 100 views on those videos. Even I know that during that time in my life, I hurt a lot of people.
