    Brennen, you're so brave. I'm a demigirl who got harassed by a "real trans man" (he called himself that to insinuate I was faking being trans) at school. He would say, "Your existence fucking triggers me." I was so confused but I went quiet about my gender identity to avoid being a "snowflake"
    He would purposefully talk shit about mogai/neopronouns and he/they lesbians in front of me, just to show me how much he hated us. He ran the GSA (gay straight alliance), so I stopped going. I missed that open, friendly environment, but pretty much everyone left when he took over.

    I remember Milo, I was 11/12 when that controversy went down with the whole ‘all white people are racist, all straight people are homophobic, cis people are transphobic’ video. At the time I honestly had no idea what Milo was talking about and followed the orders of popular commentary channels to get defensive in a ‘but I don’t think racist things so I can’t be’, but I get it now.
    Although it wasn’t phrased in the best of ways (especially for a SJW-hating 2016 audience) it’s very much a ‘people are ignorant to the experiences they’ve not had’. So I will never fully understand the struggles that people of colour go through every day, because I am a white person. With that privilege, I will always have some ignorance in their struggles, because I have and will never experience them first hand myself.
    I’m so sorry Milo that you received so much hate whilst you were so young, I honestly can say you didn’t deserve one bit of it, same goes to Brennen.

    i think whats really interesting about people like kalvin is how and how much they talk about their struggles that stem from their trans experience (like traumatically bad dysphoria and transphobic situations) while also showing a complete lack of understanding of people who express their gender journey differently. like you KNOW how hard it is to be different and have a trans experience AND you know that every trans experience is different how can you not understand that people are going to EXPRESS that difference and recognize that that is not only a valid thing to do but something people need support with not CRITICISM AND ABUSE.

    • @elliottluke6020
      @elliottluke6020 3 года назад +5

      to add onto that as well specifically about kalvin, hes expressed that hes struggled moving through a very NT world with ADHD. so if he really feels some need to criticise for some dumbfuck reason WHY cant he leave ableism out of it or better yet PROVIDE SUPPORT for ND people where possible?!
      spoiler alert: its cuz theyre ~bad people~

    I was watching anti-SJW youtube for a while when I was around 13. I thought some f-ed up stuff back then and it's shameful to look back on, but I can't really remember hating people for their gender identity. I was bordering on it, but I never really got too far into transmedicalism and I never understood the need to go hate on people for the sake of it. I'm happy I know better now though, and that I understand myself and others better. It's been a journey and I'm glad I found my place and friends within LGBTQ+ spaces online and IRL. Milo is probably one of the toughest people on RUclips, if not THE toughest. Most people would have called it quits, and the very people who mocked them get far more defensive over far less (Blaire White going on a small tangent over someone calling her hair extensions crusty.) If there could be a real life example of the 'Determinator' trope, Milo would be it.

  • @GayGothPirate

    I went through a rough patch when I first came out as trans. I had a lot of self hate and used to think that if I didn't despise myself or sacrifice my personal presentation in order for cis people to see me as a "real trans man" then I must have been "fake". It took me a long time to get out and realise that I'm allowed to present how I like and be who I feel comfortable being. I don't care about "passing" so much any more as I never felt comfortable with short hair or dressing in more blatantly "masculine" ways. I love long hair and theatricality and eccentric styles and I love my own styles. I'm so glad you two are still going and I have so much respect for you both. Thank you for being willing to talk about your experiences.

  • @SATURN-ow
    @SATURN-ow 3 года назад +22

    Commenting again but I've been listening to your streams as podcasts today and I had some thoughts as well.
    First of all, thank you both for that, it's really great to hear your voices unabashed (also, god it must have took you a long time to adjust your audio Brennen, that must have been a load of work, hope you can relax a bit!).
    What I think (in the transmed discourse, I don't know about the alt-right cis hets) was the goal was to make an example out of you and all the others. It was like pinning you to the wall and gathering everyone around to point and say : "Don't be like them, if you are then this happens!" and the audience was left with this bitter sentiment, "How do I know I'm not like them, then?".
    I was a lurker at the time, I just silently crept around RUclips, nodding my head at Kalvin's hateful tangents. I never said anything about it, never commented, I think, never crept my way onto the victim's channel even just to get a good look at what I shouldn't be like.
    I remember discovering Milo's and Ash's videos and thinking they made a lot of sense. I didn't have trouble understanding their points cognitively. I just couldn't be like them, because Kalvin and his geese had bored into my skull that I ought to be this perfect trans man : dysphoric, manly, conservative and removed to even be a man at all.
    You were examples and it worked. To this day my gender identity is still a blurry mess to me. I cannot stress enough the amount of euphoria I've felt lately since I started exploring my identity as non-binary.
    Nobody knows, my fiancé, my best friend, my family... Nobody knows I've been questioning because I can't bare to look at them and say "I'm non-binary". Even now, even after top surgery, even after many years of HRT, I cannot for the life of me tell the people I love that I discovered something new about myself, something exciting, because this RUclips guy my age bullied non-binary people off the internet under my very eyes.
    I'm searching for a new name, alone, when my fiancé is a call away and would give me so many ideas for nice names. This whole era of transmedicalism has scared me into the closet, it's roomier than pretending to be cis but it's still not me.
    Transmeds' undoing was that, by pinning you down on this wall for all to see, they gave you power. With all those eyes on you, you had the power to captivate a whole generation of mostly transmasculine peeps into waking from what has felt like a self hate fueled fever dream.
    I thank you sincerely for your voice, both of you and the many other creators that were affected. It is not an easy position to fill, I assume, that is to be the resurrected, looked upon as a model and serenaded with apologies from strangers.
    I once again, hope you're both okay, and I urge you to please take care 💜

    • @SATURN-ow
      @SATURN-ow 3 года назад +3

      @Abom1nalgirl2802 I'm sorry I don't understand your comment /g
      I get what you mean with the idea of "damage is done", I gave those RUclipsrs views which probably boosted the algorithm in its own degree.
      But I dont understand what you mean in the second paragraph. It sounds like you're saying I'm hurting transmed creators but I doubt that's what you mean.
      And I'm gonna tell it like I see it : "tucutes", people arguing for trans depath didn't and still don't have an evil agenda, they strive for acceptance and compassion. I can see why someone might think it can lead to bad consequences in its own right (although I don't) but even if it did, that's not something intentional on the part of the advocates.
      I used to see on Tumblr, people saying "A tucute harassed me!!" (even though there were many more instances of the opposite happening) and I don't mean to trivialise their trauma and pain but the person harassing wasn't representative of the whole entire depath movement.
      Whereas when you look at Kalvin, or any other transmeds creator for that matter, the idea of dehumanisation, harsh mockery and misgendering are integral to the movement.
      I know that as a mere lurker I probably was in the minority just from the sheer amount of Transmed Tumblr blogs, posts on posts about individuals from the other side. I'm not trying to argue that transmeds were and are bad people but that the movement itself tolerates and even has a dedicated space for dehumanisation of specific people with specific attributes.
      That said I don't know if you were trying to say that and I'm sorry if you didn't.
      The only thing is : please don't use psychopath and sociopath as insults, people diagnosed as such are vilified and dehumanised on a daily basis. Plus the diagnosis itself is questionable.

    i remember watching the video that was made about you right when it came out and i got sucked into the pipeline of anti-sjw garbage. i was an impressionable youth who just wanted to be accepted and i thought that the only way to be accepted was to tear others down. after so long of being stuck, i finally came out from a really dark place (as most ex-kalvin watchers tend to) and i’m really glad that i was able to pull myself out of the incredibly toxic and horrific mindset that forced me back in the closet for years. i used to think that i was cis just because i didn’t experience dysphoria exactly the same way as the popular trans youtubers of the time. it caused so much unnecessary pain for me.

    Western strong woman kills bad people (Abby, Nadine Ross, Reboot Lara Croft, Jess and Soph Blazkowicz): "WTF! THIS IS SJW!", "If you like her, You're feminazi!"

    This is why I hate Anti-SJW, Weeaboo, Modern anime. Even worse, Weeaboo, Anti-SJW harassed the voice actors who played the characters they didn't like.
    Fuck, I'm never going to put Modern Weeaboo anime characters into the game when making games, and I'm not going to dubbing into Modern Weeaboo anime. If going to add a character, put it in a fake name like Pro Evolution Soccer. Good anime before 2015 put Naoki Miki similarly as Naono Maki, and Modern Anime put Tamaki Kotatsu as Mie Huton so that you can't recognize who is.
    Seriously, I hope that Uncharted, Last of Us, Wolfenstein voice actors will not participate in the Weeaboo anime.

    33:08 Brennen you made an excellent point. Trauma really can/does manifest itself in so many ways, including how we present ourselves. I noticed your appearance change, too; especially how you toned down the colors. There was nothing wrong with how you looked before, and you still look great now. I remember going through sh*tty/traumatizing events, and i threw away all my clothes from that time, evem though they were comfortable and i liked them. Trauma literally lingers, and the people who inflict it upon you do not care that it leeches off of things you enjoy.

    A lot of what you're talking about here has made my realise why it was so hard to come to terms with the fact that I was non-binary as a teenager. I used to hide it and pretend it wasn't there because as a teen who was already bullied I felt that being openly non-binary was just adding a target to my back and opening myself up to the harassment I saw people like both of you receive online. I think a lot of us were scared.
    I admire both of you for getting through that and being yourself, and I'm so glad I'm at a place where I can be myself too.

    I watched this on the first day of pride month lol. I've been strongly thinking about coming out as gender queer, but the problem is that I do generally like my femminine appearence, just not all the time. And honestly I'm terrified that I'm not "actually nonbinary" or "actually gender queer" and this video/live stream was honestly really comforting. You handled everything really well, and your philosophy of of advocating for people that includes Kalvin is really amazing. You're definitely one of the best people I've ever seen talk on this stuff.

    It was wild seeing that Daz Black clip in there because I had completely forgotten about it but I did watch that video when it came out and am probably one of the likes on it, it's so confronting thinking back because I'm slightly younger than Milo and I remember at the time thinking like. "Well if I know better than to be saying this crazy stuff then they should too so it's okay to laugh at them right" as though I wasn't literally 16 years old and barely coping with being alive, I was miserable, I was obsessing over proving my gender identity because transmedicalism got mixed up with my OCD and made my entire life about proving how binary trans man I was, which was a problem since I'm an nb lesbian, and I was looking up to these "normal dude" RUclipsrs for reassurance and validation because I wanted to feel acceptable and while I never got the stage of actively bullying people or believing nonbinary people didn't exist I did still believe there was a line between acceptable queer and bad queer and that the bad queer people deserved ridicule. My line was harder to cross than other people's and it didn't take me long to give up on it completely, but it was there, and it was validated by adults that I trusted to do the right thing. It's messed up. I had to plan out my own death before I realised I couldn't live like that anymore. I'm sorry for everything I contributed to that hurt people like us and hurt Milo specifically (I avoided finding out about Brennen until after I'd left that mindset thank god), I'm glad you're both talking about it.

      You want to talk about irony??? Biological females complain more than anybody, but they get away with that because they're biological females, but they complain more than anybody about what they benefit more than anybody from, sexism, inequality, double standards, advantages, and special treatment, but they get away that because they're females. Talk, about sexism, inequality, and double standards smh........ Talk about irony smh........ And biological females who are transgender males like Elliot (Ellen) Page and biological females who are nonbinary people who are like Milo Stewart and Brennan Beckwith have all of these flaws, double standards, and advantages that biological females have because, well, Milo and Brennan are biological females, and they won't admit it and they definitely won't complain about it because they benefit from these flaws, double standards, and advantages, but even though they benefit from and want to benefit from everything biological females benefit from they don't want to be labeled as biological females because they consider that to be hateful and disrespectful and discriminatory, 🤣🤣🤣🙄, so basically they want to have their cake and eat to also. Talk about inequality smh......... Talk about irony smh......... By the way, just a side note, if should be able to do and say whatever they want and be wherever they want dress how they want and look how they want and be with who they want and everyone is equal and should be treated equally and there shouldn't be any labels or generalizations or stereotypes or assumptions and there should are transgender females and transgender males and nonbinary people then we can and should completely eradicate political correctness and feminism. Just saying.
