Hey Folks. If you've come here from Blue Collar Logic, thanks for taking the time to check me out in my other mode. I hope you'll subscribe here. And if you are already a subscriber, LOOK ... I posted something! Hopefully, there will soon be much content here. Not political. Not all musical either. Just whatever feels important to me to share, but doesn't fit that other channel.
Dave ---- I subscribed. It was really good to hear you play and you've got a really good voice, man. I've been around musicians all my life, some very famous, some who should have been famous, and those who just love to play. I know you said you were a folk music player, but I wouldn't consider John Prine or Van Morrison folksy. Hahahahaha but in a way, I guess they kinda are. I think you needed to create this channel for your own sanity, in a lot of ways. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned
Hi Dave I'm a singer from Ireland. I have enjoyed your blue collar channel for the past year. I'm releasing an album of songs in 2 weeks which includes a thesis on the philosophical side of folk and mythology. I'd love to send you it and if you are up for it talk with you about it here in a stream or something. Contact me if youd like to hear from me about this lorcanmacmathuna@gmail.com
Subscribed a while ago; I think prior to covid. Again, love your musicianship Dave. I've been a listener of these two since the seventies. Seen JP in concert several times. Maybe not fair to offer criticism but with Prine you could work on your emulation and lyrical accuracy. Anyway... Didn't the Beatles do a cover of this song? I like what you did with Van Morrison. I gotta say, though - what's "Into the Mystic" without that mesmerizing bassline??? It's transformational...sonic nirvana. The dojo looks bigger than I imagined. You're admirable; may God accompany you always.
One gypsy soul to another, thank you for keeping it real. In the end we will all set these bodys down. Liven and Loving ❤ fully until that day is here as The One Hearted as God created us.
I very much enjoy your channels and your music. Being from SE Ohio, not far from Kentucky and West Virginia with relatives strung through the hills of both, these song pull me back as well. Keep fighting the good fight.
As a fellow “Failed Boomer Musician (meant as a compliment) and RUclips creator”. I can just say....Bravo Dave!!!! Bravo!!!!! Thank you for the sharing of “you”. May God richly bless you and I pray you have the greatest Christmas ever. 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Dave, if more people by the the billions were real and genuine like you, the world would be a better place. There would be a lot less loose paint chips every were.
Hey Dave! I'm here via your Blue Collar Logic channel. What a treat this was! PLEASE, get that 3rd verse to Van. It's perfect! RIP (or maybe DON'T RIP?) John Prine
Already commented on your Blue Collar Logic channel, and clicked on this afterwards. In the 60's I was in grade school in Cuba, IL, the self proclaimed "Strip Mine Capitol of the World." The town had 1,400 people, and there were three huge strip mine shovels digging huge pits all around the town. When they moved the strip mine shovel, they had to close off the highway for a day or so to allow the monster to cross. We would take bike trips on our little "sting ray" bikes with the banana seats to an old pit that must of been dug up in the 30's, because there were pine trees planted in rows like corn, and they were probably 30 feet tall; I figured later they were probably planted by CCC people. Anyway, we would come out of the pines on our bikes, and right in front of us was this cliff that fell about 20 feet directly into blue water. We knew that was very dangerous, because the water could be as much as 100 feet deep. But we played around that lake, building a lean too from a downed pine tree, we chopped up with our little camp axes. I don't think we shot at any empty pop bottles, but who knows, maybe we did, because Prine's lyrics were so accurate in his description of a coal town in Kentucky that his lyrics get mixed up with my reality of growing up in a strip mine town Thanks for playing this song for us.
I really appreciate your ‘common-man’ approach to the topics you discuss. Could you put a show together where you discuss topics, tell life stories with a lesson interspersed with some folk / blues music and take it on the road? Come to Australia and play some smaller venues all over the country once all this virus fear is done with. (Shouldn’t be too long now that the election is over)
Into the mystic is my favorite song. Mr. Prine is new to me looking forward to new treasure. I have spent hours, days really listening to music and praying to keep my hope while watching the assault on my liberty by govt and corporate bullies. Love your music and your heart. Miss being around a camp fire and singing. Blessings to you!
Into the Mystic is one of my all time favorites. You hit those powerful notes much better than me. Love your other channel but interested to see what happens here.A smart guy and musical too. What a gift. 😊 Subscribed.
Man, you've got all a human needs to be comfortable in my opinion. You have some awesome talent man! Thanks for sharing this! Can't wait to show my wife!
People think this world is not a great place to live. The fact is, if you can think for yourself and not let the evil triumvirate control you. You can really see this is the best time to be a live. Thanks for sharing. Peace and prosperity for all and have a great weekend.
Going off track to this side road was different for me. But as I listened, I was taken on that musical journey that was intended for all of us who yearn for simpler, happier times. I felt the warmth of the sun as it played out. Thank you for getting me out of the now, and into the mystic...
Hello Dave - Have loved Van and to a lesser extent John Prine for 40+ years. I have instructed my daughters to make sure Into the Mystic is played at my funeral. And your added third part was a nice addition. Peace and All Good, brother!
Watch this George Carlin YT on germs and you will be rolling on ground unable to talk you'll be laughing so hard. ruclips.net/video/CnmMNdiCz_s/видео.html
This is so beautiful. I had no idea John Prine passed. He and Van Morrison are two of my favorites. Thank you for playing for us. A wonderful, moving performance.
You're living the dream, my brother. My mother worked in that exact town "Paradise" in Western Kentucky...in the coal mines. Well, I should say near where it once existed. Just listened to your video. Thanks for sharing. Nice third verse.
I'm hearing this first thing in the morning, on my backyard steps. I'm drinking my cowboy coffee and smoking my rolled cigarettes, which is every day these days. But the cold air is dry and crisp, and the sun is warm, and you've got good pipes and play well. Thanks man.
Good renditions Dave. You do them both justice. I've been listening to Both Van and John since I was a kid, I'm now 64 so it's been awhile. I really miss John but I'm fortunate to have his music available for eternity. So much talent for the world to enjoy. My favorites by John are Hello in There which really becomes more relevant as I grow older and In spite of ourselves which gives my wife and I a humorous outlook of or lives. Thanks for all you do and keep up the fight.
I play this tune, too. But, one night, I played a set at a bar called Finnegan's Pub in Dyer, Indiana. About 2o minutes before last call, and the last band played, the owner stepped up to the mic and thanked everyone for coming, and threw out the comment, "Why doesn't anyone play any John Prine?" I was so disappointed in myself for not having played the tune, since I didn't think anyone under 35 (which most of the patrons present were) would've even known who Prine was---much less actually enjoyed any of his music. So, I learned, "Play it anyway", you never know who WOULD like it. Thanks, Dave, for the post---AND, BTW, I played along with you on my Ovation. (And the crowd goes wild!) LOL
The Grapes of Wrath come to mind as I listen to Dave and think about where we are at this place in time. My Grandfather was a Hobo. He rode the trains back in The Great Depression looking for work and stopped off in our little small Southern town met my Grandmother, and now I sit here wondering if we are headed back to times like that. Funny how a song can bring that out in you. HMM. I like the new channel Dave, I subbed and will be around.
Woah. Some great channeling of John Prine there. I close my eyes and I can easily picture John Prine singing. Thank you for that tiny slice of Americana.
I saw him not long after the surgery. he was a little bit messed up looking, but he was great. At one point he switched to electric guitar and blasted away with the worst trashiest guitar-tone ever. It was fantastic. a survivor feeling like a kid in a garage band.
This was relaxing and very enjoyable....why is it in my head I seen 2 pictures in my head while listening #1 sitting on a rocking chair on a large farm house porch. #2 sitting around a fire pit in the back of my yard enjoying the music and warmth of the fire. Thank you for sharing.....that was very enjoyable!
Wonderful renditions. We’re going to need these solid reminders of the freedoms we cherish in the face of the onslaught to destroy the very fabric of our lives and livelihoods. 🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸
I'm sure Van would be pleased with your added lyrics to, The Mystic, as well as your soulful delivery. Many of us miss our favorite live band concerts, and smaller, open mic settings. Campfire sing alongs were made for songs like these. Thanks for the invitation to hear you here. I am also eagerly listening for the first notes of what Morrison/Clapton will bring to the worlds ears!
Love it. Very, very nice. Nothing like a musician with their guitar playing a song. It's early morning in Huntington Beach and I to am about to grab my acoustic box and have a go at --- well --- some thing. Especially in the morning I never know what I'm going to play. I can be sleepy eyed, but my guitar always takes me somewhere. Always somewhere.......
Mr.Dave, thank you, from a 61 year old sole survivor of three adopted boys.who all worked for another, Crazy Dave, who had your talent on the guitar, who I collaborated with ,beer and song.and he's also gone.I miss them all,so thank you for what you do, Brother,,,keep on, keepin on.R.I.P. David E.Rau. Patrick K.Laughlin,James E.Laughlin.
These two choices of songs are telling; that you have experiential authorization to sing them. Into the Mystic is one of the all time “soul” songs. Nicely done on both. If you ever pass through Georgia, the beer is on me.
Great third verse Dave. You could have played it through and very few of us would have guessed it wasn't in the original tune. That takes talent my friend. You've got it in spades. Keep strummin...
Hey Dave 😃 I'm pushing 60 and working drywall finishing and painting and carpet stretching today. You're good vibe sure helps me enjoy my day. Thank you
I'd come to one of your concerts! 👍 Don't know too many of John Prine's songs but that was great. I love Into the Mystic. Every time I hear it, I think of thirtysomething, in the closing credits of one episode Hope was dancing the baby to sleep with that song playing. It was a beautiful scene.
I am smiling through tears. Not tears of sadness, but tears of poignant reminiscence. Watching this transported me back to the time when my older brother was still alive and he would pick and sing to me in our darkened living room. Now, it is my son who does this, out in the garage. Thanks, Dave. You are like an old friend whom I like to visit. Just subscribed.
Thanks for directing us to this other side, never would have found it on my own. I’m going to keep playing in my solitary existence as well and hope our collective will get us through the panic.
Love both of these so much. The version of "Paradise" that I definitely knew best growing up was the version done by John Denver. I didn't even become aware of "Into the Mystic until last year, when I heard it on a radio station that plays lots of deep cuts (songs that almost never get airplay on "normal" radio stations, for those of you wondering what that term means), and I instantly recognized it for how great it was.
Hey Dave, I'm about your age, well a couple years older, and love in SoCal all my adult life. I played the same kind of music as you do back in the 1970s, even live in a few local spots. Unfortunately I gave it up years ago, and miss it. Thanks for doing this. I definitely subscribed, and am looking forward to hearing a lot more songs and stuff we old guys like getting out.
Hi Dave, Long time fan and subscriber of Blue Collar Logic. I don't know your years but I do know that you are wiser than they are many. Your wisdom comes from our travels don't the bumpy road of life. Thanks for the brief interlude.
So enjoyable. Thank you. Our giant Irish Wolfhound feel into a deep sleep as I had the music playing on my phone. Soothing. God bless! Join us out in Carlsbad!
John Prime and Van Morrison....how could I not subscribe!?!?. Two of my absolute favorite artists....you did a great job on those tunes. Either one of them could make a profound statement and evoke deep emotion from just a simple turn of a phrase....true genius ..thanks Dave!
I had not heard either of these songs before. Thank you for sharing them this morning, I loved them both and I loved that third verse you added to 'Into the Mystic', I'm sure I am going to miss it when I go listen to the original.
One of my my favorite Van Morrison songs, good job thank you. John Prine, on the other hand, has long been more under rated than a Bruised Orange. While Sam Stone's Flag Decal might not get him into heaven any more, Jesus wouldn't likely begrudge any Souvenirs, in his missing years, In Spite of Ourselves.
when i hauled minning parts back in 88 and 89 i took some parts from Simmons & Rand to Peabody coal in Mullenburg co I'm from eastern Ky thats the first time i have ever heard that song good tune thanks
Thank you! It is nice to be admitted into the inner sanctum. "Into the Mystic" is a song I want played when family and friends gather to remember me, after my passing.
Thanks Dave, What a breath of fresh air. Great voice, great music and grateful break from following the nonstop, attack on our freedom. I didn't know you had your own channel, you now have another follower. Blue Collar is a favorite also, stay in the fight.

You ain't the only one!
I totally agree friend’s
I love how music can bring melancholy tears that leave us happier and more deeply connected to what is truly important. Thanks Dave.
Be proud of yourself, you've lived your life by your rules for good or bad. I'd be honored to know you.
All I can say is "THANK YOU" I needed that this morning
Who the hell disliked this video? That’s a person I wouldn’t care to know. I loved this! Thanks Dave.

Damn what a wonderful treat to discover this Friday morning! Thank you Dave!
What a sweet thing to say. Thank you. -Dave
I will miss John Prine just as you and our friend the Irishman will continue to rock the music world. Hope you have a spectacular weekend Dave!
Anytime you are close to Northwest Iowa, stop by Dave, and we will sit around a campfire! You are always welcome here at the Diamond C Ranch!

Wow Dave. I really enjoyed that. You've been holding out on us. Thanks for 12 minutes of pure pleasure.
Can't count the times my harmonica accompanied a brother on guitar for Paradise.
Thank you Dave

I didn't even become aware of "Into the Mystic until last year, when I heard it on a radio station that plays lots of deep cuts (songs that almost never get airplay on "normal" radio stations, for those of you wondering what that term means), and I instantly recognized it for how great it was.
Thanks so much Dave!!! Bless you and take care!!!
You sir...are both talented and a genuine good man. Thanks for all you do.
Nice, you should do this more often. I'm impressed. No wonder you're so good at campfires and cookouts.
Subbed, and hope you'll perform more.
Thanks!
Thank you. Very nice rendition.
Thank you for sharing them this morning, I loved them both and I loved that third verse you added to 'Into the Mystic', I'm sure I am going to miss it when I go listen to the original.
is this going to be Blues collar logic? love it also being both a house painter and guitarist . I do hope you truly find Jesus on your own
This vibe is Spot On!!
Looking forward to much more!
“Some things an old dude knows”
Love it!
Thanks, Brother!
😏
How so very odd life becomes as I enter my 63rd year. I’ve come lately to Van, John and Dave. In one Friday morning early in December I get all three.
Thanks you for supporting and loving my music. I'm very grateful and appreciate you🖤I would love to hear from you text me...(438) 792-1349
After last night Dave, I had to listen. John Prine is an old school gentleman. Cheers mate!

Thank you! It is nice to be admitted into the inner sanctum. "Into the Mystic" is a song I want played when family and friends gather to remember me, after my passing.

Loved this, subscribed. Seems like a place an “ old dude” could come and hang out. So many parallels! Perfect compliment to BCL.
Thanks Dave, What a breath of fresh air. Great voice, great music and grateful break from following the nonstop, attack on our freedom. I didn't know you had your own channel, you now have another follower.
Blue Collar is a favorite also, stay in the fight.
When you said, "things that an old dude knows." I thought of Corb Lund's "Old Men". Great song, you can find it here on yt.
Checked out Corb Lund's Old Men. Thanks for the introduction.
