Freedom Freedom I can answer that for you they're both identical in terms of quality... They just use different compression the choice is yours if you're using a Mac it's easier to use mov for workflow if you use anything else, PC, Android etc... Use MP4 ;)
I just bought a Mavic Pro this week and this was by far the best instruction video on all the settings. The Mavic has a ton of settings and I had no idea what most of them were for until now. Thanks for the video!
Billy you are my favorite instructor, as a beginner I looked at all kinds of videos but allow me to say you are the best one I have seen yet , thanks again Billy.
I am new to drones and have watched too many videos and read too much till I watched your "The Best DJI Go 4 Settings For the Mavic Pro" video. Great job! Easy to follow, good explanations as to why or why you don't use certain settings. Recommendation to newbies plan on pausing a lot to make following easier and don't skip if you don't understand, replay. Thanks Billy
It's good to listen to someone who presents the facts without the waffle. As a retired lecturer, I can't stand someone taking an hour to tell a 10-minute story.
Brilliant video. I've owned my Mavic for about 3 weeks now, but too busy flying and never had the patience to sit down and read the manual so this video has been very informative. Thanks so much. Liked & subscribed.
thank you very much for the Speedy reply. I naturally assumed that the wider the bandwidth the more selectivity it would have and therefore the longer-range but I did not know that's a connection would be stronger with the more narrow band with. again I really appreciate your reply as well as your video.
Thank you for the video. I just purchased the Mavic Pro and it is nice to have a video that can guide a rookie such as myself. I found that your video was extremely informative and well detailed. Thank you for making it easier for me to fly.
Really nice tips, Billy. Thanks for sharing. At 19:02 regarding RTH a little advice I took for myself and I guess it might be good to share with you and your audience is that when flying indoors it might be safe to set that for HOVER, cause we don't want our drone climbing up to the roof and... crash! Better stay at where it lost control and hover so you can move toward it to try regain control. When you go back outdoors remember to reset it to Return-To-Home. Well that's it. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
Very helpful tips. The record audio setting you mentioned is actually recording audio during the flight using the mic on your phone. The audio playback is only available when watching a video from your phone's cached video.
Well done my good mate. I have set up my new Mavic pro drone step-by-step. I kept stopping and starting a video until I have completed the setup based on your instruction. Very good presentation excellent. I have already given you a thumbs up, up there.
No problem you very welcome. I will definitely recommend you to other friends. It is very methodical. Once again well done. I'm from down under. Just for your information.
Good video with lots of information. For those of us who are new if you slowed down just a bit wood not have had to pause and back up as often while watching video.
Awesomeness, I just forwarded this to myself because unfortunately time restricts me from absolutely absorbing this information. Looking forward to it!
I've watched the 1st 10 minutes. Oh.. it will help!! Have you considered contacting DJI in regards to employment? Serious question. You have what it takes to be employed there at a high level!
For what it's worth. I have 30 years of top 3 percentile sales success.... and that's being humble. If you choose to pursue in lieu of wait, I'd be happy to help. You have what it takes...times a bunch!
I just received my Mavic Pro today, and I am so happy I found your video. Very helpful. I updated the firmware, and the app software, but I am not seeing the 'Smart Return Home' slider. Was this removed from my version of the app 4.1.7
Nice tutorial, very deep in all the settings, I found it very helpfull even after 2 years. Just I could not agree with some settings you use, like the discharge battery time. It’s very important if you want to keep your battery in good condition, to discharge your battery after a couple of days as Litium batteries will last less if you keep them for too long fully charged or in the opposit situation. Then other settings I keep in a different way, but thats why your tutorial is interesting, I like to see from different poi t of view. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 👍🏻
Hi Billy My Mavic Pro Platinum arrived today 7/24/18.... had a problem to activate the drone.. took 2 hrs to resolve..unfortunately DJI was on NO HELP!! First flight went well with all your controller settings... thank you
Billy...great video...well thought out and executed. Question on the the "stop motor method"...The "CSC maneuver"...is this the best setting to use so you do not accidentally shut off the motors in mid-air?
I'd stick with emergency, there's been documented crashes from drones falling out of the sky due to a CSC. You do use this maneuver, such as orbiting a POI.
Great job as always, Billy. If I may offer a suggestion, it'd be helpful to mention that the a/c must be connected for most of these settings, although that will be obvious to the users who don't get the appropriate screens when attempting to follow along. Thanks for the effort!
"the a/c must be connected for most of these settings"??! I assume that you don't mean air conditioning. Alternating current? Aircraft? If the latter how can you hear him over the fans? Is there a text or tabular presentation of the talk?
Hey man. Great video. Just a quick note. You mentioned smart RTH on the Mavic pro follows your original route back. That's actually not the case on the Mavic pro. That's only an Inspire 2 feature. You can over-ride this when it pops up or if you let the countdown finish, it will initiate RTH. Great video though my friend :)
Billy, thanks so much !!!!! Mavic newbie here and also a senior citizen. Makes for a bit of a handicap in learning about this awesome bird........lol. Looks like you are a Chester County resident and I am not far away, Media area in Delaware County. How about a few tips of good open places to fly in Chester County? Hey Billy. Question about doing a CSC Maneuver in Mid Flight. There are 2 options in the GO4 App: “CSC Maneuver” “Use in Emergencies Only” What is the difference? I want to make sure I can rearm the Mavic if I ever need to cut motors off and turn them on mid flight.

Excellent tutorial! But the only thing I thought was kind of weird was pressing C2 to see battery info. I don't know why you would need that because you have all the battery info you need on your LED screen or right on your phone screen. The C2 could be used for something more useful.
Billy Kyle I definitely understand but I have never felt like I needed any more info than what was on the controller LCD or the battery info on your phone. Right on the phone you see the White H when it's going to warn you to come home.. I always just glanced up and look where that is to keep my eyes on the screen.. But to each his own your videos are awesome thank you so much!!!!
Hello Billy, In my personal opinion, you are the best, compared to all the other RUclips Tutorials out there. I gifted myself a mavic pro for Xmas and having a great time flying, Thanks to all the insight I get from watching your Videos. I have one question. How do I set my DJI GO 4 app to store all the Still Photos on my Iphone, Just as they are taken, Right now I have to go to preview and then download it to my phone. Is there a specific setting, that can do this on its own. Thank you Billy.
I have had my Mavic for a few months and have all of your videos along with some very good ones from others. I don’t know if you can answer but let me give it a shot. All of my videos have a blur to them when the Mavic is moving when viewed on my 4K TV viewed using a Mac mini. I have shot in 4K and in 1080P both at 30 Fps. I have it set for 100 using ND filters 4,8, and 16. I’m sure it could be a refresh rate of my TV it is not one of the top of the line. So that’s pretty much it looking forward to your response
Thanks. I like the pace, no dragging it out, repeating the obvious. I don't understand the frame rate and the bit about multiplying by two though. (60/120)
In order to achieve the best looking footage we want to set our shutter speed is set to twice the amount of the frame rate. This will ensure the movement in our video looks natural. For instance, when shooting at a framerate of 30, use a shutter speed of 60. When shooting at a framerate of 60, use a shutter speed of 120. When shooting at a framerate of 120, use a shutter speed of 240.
Excellent information. Learning to use the Mavic now, I'm finding that even with a hood to cut down ambient light, its still difficult to see the image clearly with my iphone. Any tips on this?
Jamie McWilliams Jamie, I am a senior and wear reading glasses and really hate using the smart phone screens . So, I resorted to a tablet and holder. But, if you want to shell out the $$, DJI has the Crystal Sky monitors.
Thanks for the accelerated course, i am literally out of breath for you ;-)) i am living in France so a few fine video tuning coud change, but still 30 fps is smart for the fluidity of movement, again thanks a lot, good video, best regards. George Blum
Its taken me lots of testing and uploading to youtube and i chime with your camera settings exactly. Unfortunately its easy to get swayed by others into other more process intensive techniques..
Hey man, could you tell me the best video setting for mavic using Litchi app? I use the DJI GO Pro mostly on my flights, but I started to like the Litchi app more and more, but there's not many video setting guide for Litchi as there are for the DJI Go Pro app. Or can I just apply the DJI Go Pro video value settings on Litchi and it'll produce the same video quality result? Appreciate your guide on this. Thanks.
Great video. Question. Once these settings are set on my phone and in app, do I have to set them every time I fly or will DGI app or my phone save them?
Hi im new to the drone hobby i got a question thst doesn't get mentioned in any video on youtube when using your smart phone with your mavic pro controller what happens especially when your inflight if someone calls your smart phone does it effect flight control of your drone ?
Hi Billy. I tried to follow you step by step but you seem to have some settings that I don't have. The mavic is new. I've flown it twice. I find the gimbal to be fast and jerky. (Coming from an old P3P pilot.)
Thanks for video. Is the home point settings what I need to change to have the drone come back to the controller? Because I am on a boat; and it is constantly moving. Thank you!
Thank you, it was excellent ...I have question though. can I use my old phone (without phone signal) or I should use the new one which has phone signal too
Billy, on the very top of the DJI Go4 App, my controller icon repeatedly blinks on & off @ times. I have repeatedly calibrated the controller. What does this mean?
This was great, super helpful thank you so much for this video. Well done. I notice that some of the settings you mention in the video were missing for me (e.g) smart return to home, Enable hardware decoding, and Geo system. I am currently running App Version 4.1.5, Aircraft Version 01.03.0900, Remote 01.03.0900. Were you running different software version at the time you made this video?
Great video. I use the same settings. When ever I engage RTH the mavic controller warns me that obstical avoidance will be disabled when returning to home?
Very thorough, thank you. One question though. Do you know if it is possible to change the ISO on the fly from the remote? Seems like the right wheel will only control the shutter.
Actually, I figured out that you can customize the C1 to toggle the right wheel to control the ISO or Shutter and only the C1, for some reason C2 doesn't have that option.
Hi billy when I fly mine I go round about quarter of a mile looking on my iPhone 6 then on my controller it say low signal? I fly a little bit more then it says no signal return to home? Do you know why? It's says it can fly up to 5 miles? Cheers ken
Hey man, in the man controller settings, since you turned your EXP up, does that make movements slower or faster? And same for that setting under sensitivity. For example you set brake to 100 and factory is 130. Does your setting make the Mavic brake faster or slower?
Question, just got my Mavic Pro Platinum, connecting my iPhone to the hand-controller only works using the USB port, why is that? I'd prefer to tse the short cable that inserts to the power-charge port.
Hi I updated my mavic pro yesterday and now i ant even fly. the dji app from my iphone x get in to black ever 2 mints, it just get disabled? any idea how i can fix it? please
Hey Billy, Thanks for the video. I thought I would try your settings but for some reason all objects on screen have red edges. Do you know why, or how to get rid of this? It's not the LEDs.
great info thank you . as a novice IM having difficulty downloading firmware . I am connected to the remote, the mavic is on as well. in aircraft status tap on firmware nothing happens . need help please.

Great video, I am new to the DJI family. Were and how do you check the area that you plan to fly to see if you are allowed to fly there? Thank you
Wow! I learned soooo much on this video. Thanks Billy.
Billy...great video...well thought out and executed. Question on the the "stop motor method"...The "CSC maneuver"...is this the best setting to use so you do not accidentally shut off the motors in mid-air?

"the a/c must be connected for most of these settings"??! I assume that you don't mean air conditioning. Alternating current? Aircraft? If the latter how can you hear him over the fans? Is there a text or tabular presentation of the talk?
Hey man. Great video.
Just a quick note. You mentioned smart RTH on the Mavic pro follows your original route back.
That's actually not the case on the Mavic pro. That's only an Inspire 2 feature.
On everything but the Inspire 2, smart RTH just means that the drone will initiate an RTH sequence once your battery indicator hits the point of no return.
For example -- if you start with 20 min of flight time and fly out 2 miles and it would take 10 min to fly back, the smart RTH will initiate at the 10 minute mark. You can over-ride this when it pops up or if you let the countdown finish, it will initiate RTH.
Great video though my friend :)
Ah ok, thanks for the clarification!
Absolutely GREAT video. Thanks so much for doing this. It is a huge help to those of us who are new to Drones and the Mavic. Keep up the great work.

Hey Billy. Question about doing a CSC Maneuver in Mid Flight. There are 2 options in the GO4 App:
“CSC Maneuver”
“Use in Emergencies Only”
What is the difference? I want to make sure I can rearm the Mavic if I ever need to cut motors off and turn them on mid flight.
Great lesson, nice and clear explanation. Thanks you
Great video, thank you. One question, were the fans on both the drone and control going mental whilst doing this? Mine are and I don't know whether I should do something about it or not..

Jamie, I am a senior and wear reading glasses and really hate using the smart phone screens . So, I resorted to a tablet and holder. But, if you want to shell out the $$, DJI has the Crystal Sky monitors.

Awesome video. Much appreciated. Toronto, Canada
Really nice video! Can't understand how you speak so quickly. Lol but I understood everything even English isn't my mother language. Congrats!
The Hardware Decoding settings are removed from DJI GO 4.1.0
Great video. Question. Once these settings are set on my phone and in app, do I have to set them every time I fly or will DGI app or my phone save them?
Very useful, thanks for making this video
+Mārcis B Sure thing!
Hi im new to the drone hobby i got a question thst doesn't get mentioned in any video on youtube when using your smart phone with your mavic pro controller what happens especially when your inflight if someone calls your smart phone does it effect flight control of your drone ?
Billy, I am down the road from you in Delaware. I hope not to move to another state to make this work? LOL,,,
Thank You , Keep up the great work.
+Jose O. Arce Thanks!
Thanks! Nice to see how you have yours set up!
Thanks Gary!
That is some setting👌👌👍👍👌👍
Hello again what’s the propeller cage and the one below what do they mean . Regards Irvine
Hi Billy. I tried to follow you step by step but you seem to have some settings that I don't have. The mavic is new. I've flown it twice. I find the gimbal to be fast and jerky. (Coming from an old P3P pilot.)
And with my question. Will these setting work also with my Phantom 4 Advance. Pretty much same camera as Phantom 4 Pro.
Thanks for video. Is the home point settings what I need to change to have the drone come back to the controller? Because I am on a boat; and it is constantly moving. Thank you!
Great info , my question to is at what angle do I set my antennas so while flying I do not get a disconnect message on remote
well done mate, very clear!!
Thank you, it was excellent ...I have question though. can I use my old phone (without phone signal) or I should use the new one which has phone signal too
I would just use the newer phone. Which models are they?
Old one is iPhone 6+ and new one is iPhone 6 ...my old phone is SIM locked and I can't use it as regular phone but all app works with WIFI
Billy, on the very top of the DJI Go4 App, my controller icon repeatedly blinks on & off @ times. I have repeatedly calibrated the controller. What does this mean?
Great vid and comments! My question, do these settings change at all with DJI releasing firmware updates?
what is the best setting for my dji mavic pro here in Europe? because I am living in the Netherlands thanks in advance
thanks Billy
Thank you for a great video Billy

I am currently running App Version 4.1.5, Aircraft Version 01.03.0900, Remote 01.03.0900. Were you running different software version at the time you made this video?
Hello, did you have your drone turned on while making this video? I mean, is it possible to change all these settings without turning on a drone?
+mikolaj64 You will need to have your drone powered on in order to access some of the settings and save them.
Great video. I use the same settings. When ever I engage RTH the mavic controller warns me that obstical avoidance will be disabled when returning to home?
That might be due to you not having the settings enabled for obstacle avoidance to be enabled during RTH.
do you have any problems with in camera noise reduction...cause u use 0 0 0 ??
Very thorough, thank you. One question though. Do you know if it is possible to change the ISO on the fly from the remote? Seems like the right wheel will only control the shutter.
It is dedicated to shutter. On the Phantom remote you can change this by actually clicking the wheel, but the Mavic does not have that ability.
Actually, I figured out that you can customize the C1 to toggle the right wheel to control the ISO or Shutter and only the C1, for some reason C2 doesn't have that option.
Great vids. I have the iPad AIR2, should I have Hardware Decoding On or Off? I Liked/Subscribed.
Hi billy when I fly mine I go round about quarter of a mile looking on my iPhone 6 then on my controller it say low signal? I fly a little bit more then it says no signal return to home? Do you know why? It's says it can fly up to 5 miles? Cheers ken
Great job! What are your EXP settings to in sport mode?
+Michael Kaplan I believe they are transferred over to sport, but I could be wrong. So .40 across the board
Hi
I updated my mavic pro yesterday and now i ant even fly. the dji app from my iphone x get in to black ever 2 mints, it just get disabled? any idea how i can fix it? please
Very thorough walk through!
Thanks for sharing ;)
No problem my friend!
Hey Billy, Thanks for the video. I thought I would try your settings but for some reason all objects on screen have red edges.
Do you know why, or how to get rid of this? It's not the LEDs.
+JAG That is from the focus threshold. If it's red, it's in focus. It makes it easy to tell if your footage looks focused or is out of focus.
Billy Kyle Thank you :)
No problem!
