Excellent little tutorial 👍I will definitely be giving some of these settings a try plus I just ordered some camera lens filters after seeing what a difference it makes. Thank you so much 😊
One of the best vids I’ve seen. Great tips with no excessive waffle, very well presented, clear with great demonstrations in one place I have a Mavic Pro and it is great, this vid enhances my safety and enjoyment of flying 10 fold. Thank you
I just bought the exact drone, I am a beginner I only understand half of what you’re saying LOL but according to the evidence of what you’re showing it looks amazing. So I’m just gonna go in and set all my settings the way you’ve Calibrated it. Thanks man!!! Thumbs up...
Omg! This is not one of the best video I've seen. It is the BEST! Hands down. Fantastic job. Very clear, strategic hints of interest and right to the point without the blablabla. I wish all the other reviewers were like you. I didn't even have to rewind at any point as everything was so clear and understandable. Great job!!! Thanks!
Great video, i hope your reapond, but i noticed you said shutter speed at 160 and frame rate at 30 but you also said shutter speed should be double the frame rate which would be 60.. so should i have the shitter speed at 60 or 160?
thank you SO much for this tutorial!!! honestly this has just made a world of difference!! Keep up the great work, ill be going ahead and looking at the rest of your videos!
Holy smokes. That was a lot to absorb in one sitting. Great info but whoa, I guess I gotta rewind a few times... I've been looking for ways to improve the video on the beast. I'm gonna give them a go tomorrow! Thanks!
great video. can't wait to put these settings to work. my only question would be, when i use my 5d button to control the camera to look down or forward is the 30degree setting going to affect where the gimbal stops in the up position.
Thanks for posting this. it really helps, do you have a video on how to get the shots? Meaning how to set up the flight path, and more on settings? Thanks
like your video, you had me worried with that slow start, but you redeemed yourself nicely! lots of info, took notes will hopefully remember to come back and give my thoughts in a few days......
Thanks. I ordered the MPP, however, am thinking of not keeping it and just waiting for the MV2. Your initial settings for the camera and flight settings was a good refresher. This video should be watched by those waiting for their new drone to arrive so when the box does show up, they can get right into it.
This video saved my life! I didn't know how to mess with the settings and my client gave me specific settings that he wanted. I was freaking out and I was looking everywhere on youtube how to change the settings. Seems obvious to you guys but someone like me who is totally new to the Mavic is pretty hard. Thanks for the Vid!
I SO agree with these settings you suggest, thanks mate! I could never comprehend all the suggestions about setting sharpness to -1 or even -2. My results with that were always so bad that I thought my cam had an issue. No chance to really improve it in post until I went with +1. Now my footage is brilliant and usually doesn't require any post sharpening. Thanks for your work here!
+Mike Clark ahh yeah that means that I applied a color grade in post production to get the colors looking nice. LOG footage looks pretty flat so this shows how they can look after coloring the footage!
I bought the drone for 2 weeks now , going out every day to shoot until my batteries are out to learn about it . Man this video saved me lots of time now all I have to do is to focus on my shot and not how to manage the drone . Thanks a ton !!
Very informative Taylor. Thank you for your time and efforts. Bought the Alpine White edition Mavic and thus far I'm pretty happy with it. I've a 2 yr old 4K Chroma which I really like as well. Subscribed.
when the highlights were blown out - was it set to AUTO? I would set it at ISO100 and change EV & shutter speed manually to possibly not need a filter (although there are certainly times when an ND is useful)
+Jesse Roussell great question - I should have clarified - when it’s blown it, the camera is set on those ideal camera settings that I call out, which are 4K30, 1/60 shutter, ISO 100. I try to keep the shutter at twice the frame rate. It creates the most cinematic film look, but you could certainly change the shutter speed to adjust as well. Thanks for the question!
Fly more combo is perfect, never have to wait on the batteries for drone, more often i found myself waiting for my phone to charge. Getting the dji goggles very soon to fix that
I would like to see how you access the menus to get to where you adjust things mentioned, I’m very new to the Mavic pro but absolutely love the thing, much more to learn. Mainly how to just use the camera image to fly it as not always in eye site. Any tips are welcome
+James Dietz thanks so much for watching! So it does cost $150 and it's only valid for 2 years, so you'll have to retake it after 2 years unfortunately. Here's a link to a really helpful site that also has a PDF with testing centers sorted by state and city! www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/fly_for_work_business/becoming_a_pilot/
Very helpful video indeed for this soon to be rookie. Can't find the app Drone Buddy though. Is it out under a different name? Or only AppStore and not GooglePlay?
I'm using ND 16 PolarPro filter on my mavic 2 pro. I just have this one ND so my question is. It is ND 16 PL. Is it okey I'm using PL on regular basis ? It has some flaws against ND filters without PL or its more advantage as disadvantage. Thank you for your respond

Very interesting and complete tutorial, I liked it. I have one question, Drone Buddy is an Apple app, what is the equivalent in Android? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video and the explanation of the gimbals settings, don't see that much just video and color settings. My only suggestion is to make the setting selections slower so people can see where in the menus those particular settings are and how to find them - of course referring to beginners with the Mavic. I think that would help more ppl out since I imagine these will be the hot holiday gift this year so there will a lot new birds in the air
+Jason D'Alberti that’s great advice. I’ll remember that for my next 10 Tips video which will be on the Phantom 5 Pro whenever it’s released! Thanks for your thoughts.
Cheers @Taylormoore, that was a great video, I love my Nespresso too 🤣 I collect my new Mavic Pro in about 2 hours. Not rushing to be a superhero, I’m keen to learn well. These settings and adjustments are fantastic, thanks. I’m in Brisbane Australia
Doug I’m really glad I was able to be of help! I’ve actually moved on to pour-over instead of the Nespresso! But it’s still a gem. That thing produces amazing coffee!
Waiting for my Mavic Platinum, thanks for these tips. Very helpful. Can’t wait to get up into the blue, unfortunately I couldn’t afford the combo with extra batteries, charger, case, etc.
Great video, thanks! Mine just arrived which is great, but I leave to Kauai tomorrow so it looks like on the job training for me. It will either be great footage or I'll suck...we'll see!
+Norm K you’re going to do great, I have no doubt! When you fly, Make sure you keep the drone moving in one direction through the entirety of the shot! When the drone is all twitchy and turning in the middle of the shot, it looks less professional! Just a small tip :)
I bought the Mavic pro and was going out to take some shots, but then I couldn't figure out how to get the 4K 30fps :/ On my app it only lets me pick between 24 fps and 25 fps, any idea why? And if not, what is best between 24 and 25?
Anyone have a bit of advice on which one to buy? Currently stuck on which one I want, I love how portable the Mavic is but I also love how the phantom is faster and better camera.. any advice would be appreciated.
+Smithy07sham what kind of flying are you planning on doing? More local or more travel? Is price an issue for you? Is noise level important? Will you be using it for paid gigs?
Taylor Moore I'm really just a beginner, and looking to learn more, I know phantom 4 pro is more of a professional drone but it's very powerful in all other aspects other than the camera, but I love the look of the Mavic pro it looks like a military drone or something, do you have any advice on what the pros and cons of each drone is and which would be better for me? I live in the countryside so I guess a good camera would be efficient, I want to know what the range is like aswell and which is better, price is not an issue even though the Mavic is only 1299 Euro where I'm from with the whole set with it and p4p is 1699..
Hi Taylor, my name is Joe, I just ordered the mavic pro I have not received it yet but I am looking at your video to help me I have a question if you could help me out? Is there any advantage to using the OTC cord as opposed to using the generic USB connection from the tablet or smartphone to the radio? I'm not sure if you covered this yet but you seem very knowledgeable and I would like your Insight on this if possible? Thank you in advance.
+Backwater Hookers that’s a great question! When the sun’s fully out, I’m using the darkest filter. Midday where it’s slightly cloudy, I’ll rock the middle filter, and i don’t often use the ND-4 personally. The best way to test is to put the filter on, make sure the over exposure warning is on (zebras), and just see how it does in the conditions! If it’s not dark enough, throw on a darker filter!
Taylor Moore okay..my fiance bought me some from Neewer..and it came with these..CPL..ND8/PL.. ND16/PL..ND8..ND16..ND32..was just trying to see which ones for early mornings..evenings..really sunny..keep us new to the drone world posted with videos..
So i'm about to fly with this thing by the beach where it'll most likely be sunny. I don't own any ND filters. I'm guessing the only thing I can do is up the shutter speed to compensate for brightness correct? Already at 100 ISO.
+Albert Arriola yeah that’s really going to be your main option. It isn’t ideal, but will work. The filters are clutch man ;) if you can get your hands on them, they’ll up your footage substantially!
Alright thanks for the quick reply. I haven't tried lowering the highlights or any color correction to the footage but yeah I used your settings and I see why the ND filters are a must. Footage was just wayyyyyy too bright hopefully i can fix some of it in post.
Thanks very much for the video lad! Recently got a Mavic Pro & as you said I've been looking at hundreds of videos online but this one is by far the most to the point, easy to understand and best quality video I've seen! I subbed man & can't wait to see more of your content!
+Evan Nielsen hey Evan! Congrats on the Mavic! I want you to think about a bicycle manufacturer. Their videos, from a liability standpoint, will always show kids wearing helmets. Whether you choose to do that or not, they’re obligated to do that for safety. It’s similar with the Mavic and DJI. They will show the drone flying with it on because yes, it’s technically safer for the gimbal, prevents wind from interfering with it, etc., but anyone who flies commercially and uses their footage for anything other than selfies and backyard shots will always fly with it off. That plastic cover will get swirl marks on it from everyday use, which will cloud your footage. It will cause flickers from light reflections.... it just adds artifacts to your footage that you can’t easily remove in post-production. I hope this is helpful! I would never fly with it on personally.
Thank! The bundle that I got actually came with a lens "hood". It basically covers everything around the gimbal but the camera. Thanks again for the quick response.
+GrimxLink I really like it so far. I think the 10Bit color is a huge upgrade and was worth it for me to make the upgrade. The sensors everywhere on it are amazing... on the whole, I love it. It’s incremental to the Mavic, no doubt. If you’re not swimming in money or a serious videographer, it’s likely not worth the upgrade.
@@TaylorMoore4K I have aspirations to start a drone business probably for real estate, do you think it would be worth it or should I go with something else?
Thanks for the tips I just love them and started to work and memorized them . One thing else the name of apps you work your videos with and thanks again ..
Excellent suggestions.....really helped me to dial in my camera settings and the Gimbal adjustments make a WORLD of difference!! Thanks so much!!
Thank you. I'm a bit to the party but i just bought one of these and this is really helpful.
Best wishes from Scotland
Wow that’s so much! I’m so glad to hear that it was helpful!
Excellent little tutorial 👍I will definitely be giving some of these settings a try plus I just ordered some camera lens filters after seeing what a difference it makes. Thank you so much 😊
FYI Keeping the clear camera cover on also blocks the airflow into the aircraft. Can cause overheating!!
Ahh outstanding insight!

Great video, with the nd filters what did you mean by saying graded with the comparison of the fitlers ?

@@TaylorMoore4K how did you apply a color grade ?

Very helpful video indeed for this soon to be rookie. Can't find the app Drone Buddy though. Is it out under a different name? Or only AppStore and not GooglePlay?
+Rick Brobbel hey man! I’m pretty sure it’s only an Apple app after further research. You should try B4UFly, Airmap, or Hover as an alternative!
Thanks a lot. And I have also now found "UAC Forecast"
I wish I could like this 1000 times to get it out there more!!
Hey Taylor. Great video. Was trying to find Drone Buddy and can't find the app. Was wondering if it had changed names or something.
Hey man! Are you on Android? On iOS, it’s still called Drone Buddy!
Taylor Moore Yeah I am on Android. Is there something similar to Drone Buddy that you recommend for non iOS users?
I’ll ask around and see if my buddies have any android recommendations!
Hello I have a Samsung galaxy note 8 will it fit in the remote control?
Greatly video and tips. Very good delivery too.
Thanks a ton man! I really appreciate it.
Hi Taylor, What is graded? You showed ND8 then next to it ND8 graded. Please explain.
Also is the KP index the same as heat index? Thanks for sharing . Chuck.
Chuck - sorry for not clarifying and thanks for asking! "graded" refers to me color grading the footage in post production. Tip #10 at the end of the video shows this process. I basically took each piece of footage and adjusted the colors to make it look far better than the raw recorded footage. As for the KP index, it isn't the same as the heat index. The heat index directly relates to temperature, whereas the KP index refers to the amount of solar flare activity that are emitting magnetic interference. High levels of KP don't necessarily relate to a higher temperature. I hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply Taylor. Great info. Chuck.
great clip taylor, whats a good post production software that you recommend?
+Mark Grant I would certainly recommend Final Cut Pro as your editing software and then Color Finale for color grading (it’s a plug-in for final cut). If you’re on a PC, use Premiere!

Hey Taylor! Just got my Mavic Pro a few days ago. I actually have been flying with the gimbal cover. Did DJI really not intend for that to stay on?
Thanks for sharing information!
Do you still have to register in 2024 did that change again?
lot of information, loved it! thanks a lot
Nice video. Thank you for the detailed/helpful tips.
Excellent video man
Thank you so much!
I know this video was a bit ago, but pretty sure you will have to register any drone 250g or more.
Best one. Exactly what I needed 🙏
Excellent video brother!
Just purchased this babe today, can't wait to start playing with it.
Btw I just subscribed to your channel 👍
Dude thank you so much! I’m excited to hear what you do with it!
Thank you Taylor 🙏
What do you think about mavic 2 pro compared to others predecessors
+GrimxLink I really like it so far. I think the 10Bit color is a huge upgrade and was worth it for me to make the upgrade. The sensors everywhere on it are amazing... on the whole, I love it. It’s incremental to the Mavic, no doubt. If you’re not swimming in money or a serious videographer, it’s likely not worth the upgrade.
@@TaylorMoore4K I have aspirations to start a drone business probably for real estate, do you think it would be worth it or should I go with something else?
GrimxLink depends on how strong those aspirations are. If you really want to produce outstanding video, the M2P is the way to go.
Great video!! Is there an alternative for drone buddy for android??
Great question! I’ll look into that.
Excellent complete ideas
Thanks for the tips I just love them and started to work and memorized them . One thing else the name of apps you work your videos with and thanks again ..
Abid, thanks for your comment! Do you mean which program do I edit my videos with? I use Final Cut Pro for all my editing!
