Just bought the Lowlight bundle pack for neatvideo. And WOW! just amazing how it removes the noise but still keeps it sharp enough to use it! keep up the good work! And thank you for all the time you put into this !! :)
I am so impressed with the amount of pro investigation work you are sharing with us! You should be paid considerably by DJI for doing what their R&D obviously could not pull off! I will most certainly buy both packages to show my gratitude. You guys really rock!

Never seen so much information packed into 5:41 minutes. Wow. The Buster Keaton impression ("foliage, foliage, foliage") was an extra bonus. Looking forward to experimenting with the LUT and the preset. Excellent!

what?!??? i spend all my free time at youtube seeing all kind of big high tech channels with hundred thousands or even millions subscribers and when i thought that i was seeing the best youtube can offer me. I've found your channel. I'm amazed with your channel. congratulations!!! better than every channel i have seen about drones.
Man you're killing it, I've have watched thousands of videos (not joking) in regards to video, VFX and equipment. Your follow through, consistent flow and logical explanations rank up there with some of my favorites!
Hi Matt! I know this RUclips video is dated, but wanted to let you know someone is still viewing. I'm a first time drone owner (M2P) learning to fly, make camera/video settings adjustments, and needing to learn how to edit video. Very helpful video series you have put together.
Wow. This is the video I've been looking for! Glad that you made it so comprehensive and actually show the noise graphs + explain the sharpness issue clearly. Glad that there's a filmmaker like you out there making these videos. Keep up the good work man!
starting new with the mavic for some local and fun aerial photography, out of the hundreds of videos I've watched, this....my god this video, short, sweet, simple, and some of the best quality I've seen yet.
I've seen many videos about the Mavic now, and you're the only one who seriously talked about noise profile and LUT in a really professionally technical way. Thank you! *Subbed!*
I typically don't comment on videos, I have to say this video has been one of the most informative and pleasurable to watch. You earned my sub and I look forward to more of your content. Thanks I'm even more excited to get my new drone and start creating.
This honestly feels like I'm watching a MasterClass on how to shoot with a DJI Mavic, thank you so much for the helpful information, DJI has a new customer and you have a new subscriber :)
I have been a Videographer and Photographer for over 35 years, I'm glad I finally found a channel where someone knows what the hell there talking about technically. Subd
I love my Mavic and have taken on board lots of suggestions from people kind enough to propose help on RUclips or their websites. This video is fantastic. Love how its super concise - great advice with no filler. Wonderfully shot. Thanks very much
At least someone who knows and has the skills to do a good review and test. Very well done and thank you for your effort. Best regards, Alexander (Munich)
What a fantastic video, your research is both incredibly in depth and very welcome. You really seem to be squeezing the absolute best out of the Mavic's camera. Thanks loads for these videos, LUTS and NV presets.
Between this and the sharpness video you've finally solved a number of long running frustrations I've encountered using our Inspire 1 / X5R. Thank you!
mate that tip about rotating the polarizer is the best niche tip I've seen anywhere on youtube after 4 straight days of trawling through Mavic and Phantom videos
Just tested your D Log LUT against another ..yours is Much more forgiving and less extreme...i upped the exposure a tad, placed a little more s curve and contrast in ...looks great - thanks for making it!
glad to hear that. For exposure adjustments, try doing them before the LUT if you haven't already. It's one of the advantages of log and acts more like an in-camera exposure adjustment than post.
Fantastic tutorial. The information delivery is very similar to Curtis Judd's channel; between the two of you, these are perhaps the most professional tutorials on the web. Keep it up.
Great video! Thanks for that. Does it work for the Mavic Air? It seems to have the exact same problem, but on my experience it looks worse than your examples.
I was just recommended to watch your "DON'T Get This Setting WRONG!" video and at the end, you said you are uploading mavic cinematic techniques soon. So I checked your channel and this video is only 5-hours fresh. Lucky me:)
Thanks for all the time you guys are putting in to try and solve these issues- The one that just doesn't seem to have a fix, unless I missed it is... at 4:25-4:33ish on your example- the roof in the center of your shot has a considerable amount of noise/roll even with the neat video applied. This has been my nemesis on the majority of my footage roofs, buildings, water... Is there a better in camera setting pre-flight or post work flow that can eliminate this issue.
Hey Matt, things that have really fine detail are a bit harder to remove noise. So even with Neat Video applied it's still not perfect. I really like it but would prefer a cleaner sensor to start with!
We have the p3pro as well, it's awesome, but the Mavic is much more freeing. I can sling it on my back while carrying other film gear, or just toss it under the stroller when I'm going for a walk with the kids. Such a fun tool!
This whole video is super helpful, more than alot of other guides, i love seeing the before and after to really show how necessary it is to correct. please please make more guides like this, or even tips for things too look for wen shooting as to get the best possible shots. Thanks for this video!
Fantastic to see someone who knows what they are doing. If the footage is going to be compressed down to 1080p how much of a difference do you think 4k vs 2.7k makes?
I really appreciate that you took the time to define all these settings, saves us so much time and an awesome work. Excellent tips, love 'em. I will keep on a look out for your excellent video tips. Please keep up the good work! :-)
Seriously amazing! Not only did you tell that very well but I applied all this knowledge and have tested a few shots and i am completely sold on D- Log now!
Awesome video. Debating about buying a Mavic and your last 2 videos were super helpful in ensuring I can get a drone for under $1500 and still make it look cinematic and beautiful. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the video. I took my Mavic to a lake during sunset and noticed how the low light had some noise. I'll try some of the settings you suggested like 2.7K and see if it makes a difference!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I've been waiting for this video and am THRILLED that you created custom LUTs and Neat Film profiles. Looking forward to the night shooting guide, as I had written off doing so with my Mavic. Keep up the great work :)
This is the most informative video about the Mavic I've seen. Thank you so much! Just bought your LUT and a quick first test was promising. Before learning about LUTs I already thought D-Cinelike is the best I can get out of the Mavic.
Wow! This was the first time I have seen anything from your channel. I have been trying to fine tune the video settings on my Mavic Pro and this is the first video with such well researched information and attention to detail. Thumbs way up my friend! Subscribed and smashed that bell!
Your videos are fantastic!! Im sure everyone would love to take a peak into how you color grade your drone or even DSLR footage. Literally looks amazing
Hi Matt, I have bought your Low Light Profile & Preset Bundle for DJI Mavic Pro & Neat Video + De-Flicker. Looking forward to sinking our teeth into these extensions. As you say, Neat Video is memory hungry even on our Macs. Looking forward to the results. Thanks for your work.
Great video! I’ve been looking at getting a Mavic Pro. I’ve got a phantom 4 but I just don’t get it out to fly as much as I’d like. I feel like the portability of the Mavic changes that. Thanks for the tips!
happy to help. The portability makes the difference in having the drone with you not not having it at all. I just took mine snowmobiling on glacier in Iceland in a backpack. Such a great tool!
SOOO GOOD! I just purchased your Neat Video Preset and used it on my 2.7k footage that had a pretty nasty flicker on it. I just ran the non-neat video render next to the neat video render... night and day difference. Thanks for this!
I know I'm late to the party but wow. I just got a mavic pro 1 and used the lut. Love it. I have to learn the neat video stuff. I bought the de flicker pack but didn't realize there was something else to make it work 😅
Hey Jeremy, if you don't plan n to buy Neat Video just shoot me an email using the contact page at www.thefilmpoets.com/edu - I'll set you up with a refund. Glad you love the LUTs.
Really great video - so useful and brilliantly presented. Your production values are awesome! Thanks so much for making this top notch content available for Mavic users!
Awesome work. I dearly love filming with my Mavic, but thought it had some limitations. Your recommendations opened up its range a bit! Very nice LUT for Dlog. I am testing Neat Video with your preset... about to buy it!!!
I have been subscribed for more than a year and yes... I usually come back to review your tips. ONCE AGAIN THANKS. Question: How you focus using your Mavic Pro ? Share your thoughts
Roberto Ruiz I’ve been using touch focus with the Mavic Pro, but with the pro 2 I’ve been more comfortable doing manual infinity focus. Will have a tutorial on that soon! Thanks.
Excellent tips. I did a shot of some elephants over the weekend and was struggling a bit today to edit some pretty contrasty & noisy footage, even after shooting in D-cinelike. That's how I came across this video, looking for some tips or solutions. Hard light is often an issue where I shoot. Looking forward to trying the D-log settings and the noise reduction profiles to solve the issues I've been having. Just your one tip about the noise flicker in detailed areas of a shoot is already worth a subscribe or 10. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the hard work you put into these videos. I use the noise profile you created in a previous video and it is a huge help. Cant wait to see whats next with the low light stuff.
Thank you for taking the time to make this research and most importantly, for making this video and sharing your results and experience with us. Big fan of your work BTW! :)
This is really helpful ! I dowload your Lut Corrective, it's really cool :) Can you make a tuto about the full process ? 1- Camera settings, 2 - Shooting, 3 - Post-processing ? Thank you
Hi, really nice and helpful videos, very well explained! In 2:35-2:45.. Are those shots made with a Mavic? Wich ND PL filter were you using? Are they color graded? I'd like to buy them, seems to be an awesome improvement for the colors and image quality!
Thanks! I just bought all, bundle pack and d-log. Do you have any suggestion for better focusing when flying away from or towards something (a building). Cheers
Hey, thanks so much! You should have to worry about focus in the sense of pulling focus as you move. The depth of field is so deep on these small sensors that it won't be an issue at all. Just focus at a point in the middle of the scene and you're good to go. -Matt
Good day. Hope you are well. I'd like to say thank you! Your tutorials regarding to mavic pro video postproduction are really awesome and useful. Could you share your practice about import and export settings of FCPX when you work with mavic's video file? Which video codec do you use? Thank you!

Love this Matt! Those Neat Video presets are killer!
thank you Matt!
Man you're killing it, I've have watched thousands of videos (not joking) in regards to video, VFX and equipment. Your follow through, consistent flow and logical explanations rank up there with some of my favorites!
Thanks Lyndon! Got a new one coming out really soon. Hope you enjoy.
This is by far the best mavic video settings presentation! No unnecessary chatter, just practical and decent recommendations. Thanks a lot🙏🏻
Your videos have been the most helpful for me to get the most out of Mavic, thank you so much!
agreed.
happytodd To bad he's to good to respond to anybody who comments. I respond to every comment on my videos.

Dude this was the best Mavic settings tutorial I've seen (and I've watched many). Really appreciate the thorough, visual explanation!
Tried the corrective LUT for D-Log .... worked great and looked great with no correction in what I shot. I appreciate.
Your attention to detail, in analysis, borders insane. (Yes, that is a compliment!) Thanks!
one of the few content creators who stares right into your soul. Very helpful vid btw.
wow were those last low light shots fixed by using the neat video plugin?! That's absolutely crazy!!
Yes! It's awesome and can denoise most cameras. It's saved a lot of shots for me.
Excellent. It's really nice to see someone explaining the details without doing so just to make themselves look smart. Thanks!
Best mavik video I have ever watched. Attention to Detail was astonishing. I’ve learned a lot. Thank you!
This honestly feels like I'm watching a MasterClass on how to shoot with a DJI Mavic, thank you so much for the helpful information, DJI has a new customer and you have a new subscriber :)
For people like me who know nothing about video, these videos are everything!! Thanks man
You are without a doubt the best drone video guy on youtube. Great information and analysis of the Mavic camera. Thank you bro!!
Ive been waiting for this to come out for months to use for my upcoming trip.. I'm currently sat in the airport waiting to board! You're life savers!
Enjoy that trip! I'm a little jealous, because I only have footage from AL and MS, not the prettiest landscapes.
I have been a Videographer and Photographer for over 35 years, I'm glad I finally found a channel where someone knows what the hell there talking about technically. Subd

Haha. Thanks, it seems so obvious now, but there was a time when I would twist the things right on the camera with the gimbal powered.
Just tested your D Log LUT against another ..yours is Much more forgiving and less extreme...i upped the exposure a tad, placed a little more s curve and contrast in ...looks great - thanks for making it!

copy that! thanks
So what's the most helpful, D-log LUT, polarizer, or the flicker reduction?
The Film Poets flicker reduction absolutely.
The Film Poets hmm. For me, I don't yet own the mav (p3pro) but probably d-log lut bc all I care about is seemingly color:)
We have the p3pro as well, it's awesome, but the Mavic is much more freeing. I can sling it on my back while carrying other film gear, or just toss it under the stroller when I'm going for a walk with the kids. Such a fun tool!

Thank you. Foliage. Foil-age. You cracked me up. Nice work. Thanks for your help from a newbie.
I just bought your bundle and the D-Log LUT, thanks for all the great videos! Can't wait to use them with my new Mavic videos.

So much information in under 6'.
Really loved the format btw! 👌👌👌
PUEBLO VISTA thanks!
Thanks for the video! Gonna test it out soon
This video played by total coincidence after I viewed another video. I am glad it did. Great info and reasoning, thank you!
Thank you for the video. I took my Mavic to a lake during sunset and noticed how the low light had some noise. I'll try some of the settings you suggested like 2.7K and see if it makes a difference!
Wow I'm impressed the amount of detail you went into and backed up with hard data on top of that you definitely caught my interest thank you very much
Right! I thought the Mavic footage was amazing but after getting neat video and applying the LUT and Noise removal the footage is 100% better!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I've been waiting for this video and am THRILLED that you created custom LUTs and Neat Film profiles. Looking forward to the night shooting guide, as I had written off doing so with my Mavic.

This is the most informative video about the Mavic I've seen. Thank you so much! Just bought your LUT and a quick first test was promising. Before learning about LUTs I already thought D-Cinelike is the best I can get out of the Mavic.
Thanks for the support. I love D-Cinelike, but more dynamic range is always better, so the D-log to D-Cinelike LUT makes me really happy!

You're a genius
At last a professional video!! Thanks for the top tips and the link to the noise filter - that will sort my issues - brilliant!!
Very helpful. Im excited for the lowlight video. I wanted to shoot at night badly but the noise bothers me.
Yaas! Excited to know that it will help your films. Thanks for the great feedback.
Flippin fantastic video!! Confirms and resolves a lot of things I've been encountering. Thank you for your efforts!
Most helpful video for this issue (I've seen dozens). Thanks a lot.
Your videos are the best!! Short sweet and direct..... perfect! Thanks for all your hard work and sharing your knowledge 😊👍
well thanks!
I know I'm late to the party but wow. I just got a mavic pro 1 and used the lut. Love it. I have to learn the neat video stuff. I bought the de flicker pack but didn't realize there was something else to make it work 😅

Subscribed because of this video! Thanks for the hard work and testing to figure this frustrating problem out.
Thank you for the best mavic video on youtube.
well, it's certainly not the prettiest scenery, but I'm glad that it helped. Thank you!
Really great video - so useful and brilliantly presented. Your production values are awesome! Thanks so much for making this top notch content available for Mavic users!
Wow, thanks for saying that.
Your Mavic videos are exceptional. Thank you for providing such useful information. Happy to subscribe.
Dude, I LOVE your videos.. So relaxed, informative and well edited.. Spot on
What a fantastic video done for all the right reasons! Thanks for making this one!
perfect timing on this upload 👍
well done! such a clear, short and helpful video. thank you!
Awesome work. I dearly love filming with my Mavic, but thought it had some limitations. Your recommendations opened up its range a bit! Very nice LUT for Dlog. I am testing Neat Video with your preset... about to buy it!!!
Just bought the D-Log LUT. Thanks man!
Love your stuff. Really polished and informative.
Thanks Stephen. One of the best things to help with hard light is a polarizer, so be sure to try one out as well. Have fun!
Thank you so much for the hard work you put into these videos. I use the noise profile you created in a previous video and it is a huge help. Cant wait to see whats next with the low light stuff.
so great to hear!
Thank you for taking the time to make this research and most importantly, for making this video and sharing your results and experience with us.
Big fan of your work BTW! :)
Thank you Stan!
This is really helpful ! I dowload your Lut Corrective, it's really cool :)
Can you make a tuto about the full process ? 1- Camera settings, 2 - Shooting, 3 - Post-processing ?
Thank you
Thanks for that very helpful 👍
Thanks for a super helpful tutorial. Very clear, concise, and well presented! Subscribed.
Hi, really nice and helpful videos, very well explained!
In 2:35-2:45.. Are those shots made with a Mavic? Wich ND PL filter were you using? Are they color graded? I'd like to buy them, seems to be an awesome improvement for the colors and image quality!
Thanks Gabriele, those shots were with the old Canon 5D MKII + BW CPL.
-Matt
WOW! Absolutely professional!
Really informative! Can't wait to try myself. Great video
Going out in San Diego tomorrow to shoot with my Mavic. Buying your LUT now. Thanks bro!
Please let me know what you think!
Good day.
Hope you are well.
I'd like to say thank you! Your tutorials regarding to mavic pro video postproduction are really awesome and useful.
Could you share your practice about import and export settings of FCPX when you work with mavic's video file?
Which video codec do you use?
Thank you!
Alexey Ershov thanks. I import the native file and export using Master File, h.264 setting.
Thank you for this excellent video! Is there any point in turning the contrast and/or saturation down to -3?
Nice and informative video. Really an eye opener on 2.7k. Looking forward to the low light mavic video =)
