@rogerhalt3991 of course! But he did THIS video for the Mavic 2 Pro years ago and mine flew PERFECT after getting those settings. I've been wanting his mavic 3 settings for the same reason. No biggie bro
Awesome video, Billy! Your tips are always spot-on and help the drone community stay at the top of their game. 🔥 As someone who works in drone repair, I can definitely say that changing this setting can save pilots from a lot of headaches. Thanks for consistently putting out such valuable content!
I love the cine mode, I set mine to the slowest it will go but I occasionally change it for a specific shot. That really slow and smooth setting just looks great to me and it's safer to get close to things too
At 83 years of age - now mostly flying drones after the last 30 years working as a freelance video cameraman - ones fingers are not as smooth/steady as they might be - and this video is very demonstrative of how to "iron out" some of my "jittery" shots. Billy has an amazing "tutorial" ability - slightly too fast as a speaker for me to assimilate everything without "playback" - needs to adjust his personal speed/delivery settings - (my sense of humour - no criticism or offence intended) - but for me - a "Go to" instructor/advisor is I need help with any aspect of poling a drone for good camerawork ! A brilliant Channel.
I use the Cine setting a lot for ground level subtle camera gimbal like movements. In normal/sport mode my theory is this. Since muscle memory, imo, is the most crucial component...I like the drone to behave the same with with my stick movements whether I'm in Normal or Sport mode. Therefore, I make sure the setting in each of those modes...apart from the forward speed...are quite similar. Hope that makes sense.
Good video, more people need to know what these settings are and how to tune them... but WOW, my optimal settings WAY lower than yours. I don't know how you get smooth flawless video with such high settings. I am flying M3P and I DO use Cine mode almost exclusively for filming and those settings are cranked way down (below your Normal settings) so that I can get smooth motion with stick and gimbal movements. Maybe its bc I mainly film subjects lower to the ground, doing orbits or close flybys or flyovers. I arrived at these settings through much experimentation. I found the best way to start is to hover the drone in front of you a few yards and watch how the drone responds to each input as you adjust them to the lowest and highest setting and then find your sweat spot. Then give it a short nearby test flight looking at the screen (also review video later on computer). My Normal mode is the same as Cine with many cranked up a bit more and sometimes use for filming subject at a distance. Sport mode is mostly maxed out and used exclusively for getting from point A to B. Taking the time to optimize your gain & expo setting will greatly enhance the quality of your videos.
Great explanation thanks. First time mini 4 pro user and it's been a while since I used my mavic mini (crash victim, plus I don't think it had expo settings) but those expo settings are what I needed and it wasn't immediately obvious what they actually where. But your explanation just lays it out perfectly.
Great explanation Billy. That gain/expo graph always freaked me out. Didn't realize there were so many settings could be changed. Keep doing great things Billy. I've enjoyed watching your videos. 😊
Thank you so much Billy. Your videos are so smooth and my 1st month of Mavic 3 Pro is twitching and jerking all over the map. They're almost giving us too much control You're a great teacher and I'll report back. Never had any jerking problems with my Phantom 4 I just sold.
I've never flown a two person mission on a drone, But I do understand why Vision Assist is such a useful tool for getting more creative shots. Great video Billy, and thanks for sharing.
My Mini 2 SE have some of these settings too. I found it and learned to changed it by myself. I change it in all modes and like to use sport mode with smooth a turnings settings and I can make videos almost like an cinematic fpv.
This is a really a good video and explained well. I've been hoping someone would do a video on this. Just picked up the Air3 and the Goggles 3, so I'll be backing up and watching your videos on the two again.
Thanks for sharing, Billy. I am the opposite. I use "normal" for regular flying to/from. I'm primarily a stills guy, so when I capture video, I want to be going as slow as possible and have adjusted the gimbal and expo settings in "Cine" to complement that. I capture video slowly as smoothly as possible. I haven't had a need to capture my flying at 30+ mph. Maybe some day. I appreciate the expo explanation.
Great video Billy. What a coincidence it is that my settings on the PRY are the same as yours. I also don't use CINE mode but I do sport when I need to. Speed settings are to the max.
Do you scale back the Max Descent/Ascent on Air 3? That 10 M/S is faster than any current Consumer Drone and Matches Indpire 3 Decent-Tilt (fastest) but otherwise faster than even Inspire 3. Personally, I want that for at least one mode as it's dynamic when used wisely.
Good important explanation! This is also een common practice in the model flying world if, for example, you want to temper the results of the ailerons etc :)
Very clear explanation. learned a lot. some time you speak very very very fast. This was easy to fallow. Thanks for the education. Will be watching again.
I have an Air3 and I've found that the obstacle avoidance setting has a dramatic effect on the gain and expo settings. Setting the obstacle avoidance to: "bypass" negatively affected the gain and expo setting., at least that's been my experience, and I've been flying with obstacle avoidance set to brake.
Hey Billy, thanks for the great demonstration. I have a quick question. It’s not about this topic tho. I was flying my drone the other day. And when I was flying sideways, the gimbal occasionally lost its horizontal angle, acting like fpv. The drone gave me a high wind warning. It was quite windy that day. Can it be because of that? Did it ever happen to you?
100% when the drone comes out of the box, the drone is so twitchy. Took me a while until I had normal mode dialled into a much smoother video. I just haven't yet gotten the slow mode to my liking and always use normal mode 😊
I don't think I've ever seen mls on the controlle, while flying. How'd you get it to show mls? I've got my mini 3 pro set to imperial but it doesn't show mls on the contoller but going into settings does. Thanks in advance!
@@billykyle yeah, mph, you pointed at it when you spoke of how fast your drone was flying (ex 30mph).. my drone only shows kmh, although it's set to imperial in settings. Even the flight log shows meters..
Under Gain & Expo Tuning for "Normal" your video shows that you're able to adjust all the way up to 33.6mph but mine says up to 26.8mph. Any idea as to why? I'm flying an M4P and my RC Firmware is 02.02.0200.
I do have a question. If you use one of the dju modes like masterstroke, quickshots. Follow me, etc.,will the expo settings affect the performance in one of those modes? Please let me know. Thank you.
Very good info Bill as always 👍 I need to fly more than I have been doing 😢 Working so much on my shuttle business. It's the summer time and bachelors are getting married, and wanna go to the casino for the bachelor parties 😂😂😂
Just a suggestion Billy. Don't forget while showing new settings and features to keep FAA rules and regulations in mind. Sitting in your car while the drone is obviously out of your VLOS is not good practice.
I'm a little embarrassed by how long I kept saying to myself, "I wish the gimbal pitch was less sensitive!". Total facepalm when I found the setting. This is a great reference video!
You give great information, but you speech tempo is too fast, almost as if you are running to finish a race. Take a breath …. Slow down, you are almost painful to listen to.
Adjusting these setting makes a huge difference. Your guidance is always appreciated.
I think MOST of us have been waiting for THIS video for a couple years, thanks for doing it Billy!
I've changed this to my liking 7 years ago
What have you been doing if you have been waiting for one person to tell you about this? Are you not curious about all the menus and settings?
@rogerhalt3991 of course! But he did THIS video for the Mavic 2 Pro years ago and mine flew PERFECT after getting those settings. I've been wanting his mavic 3 settings for the same reason. No biggie bro

Excellent call out Billy. Makes a world of difference. Thank you

Yes this is true, and I agree with you
Masterful delivery as always!
Excellent! I might have avoided a small collision when landing if I had adjusted the brake at the level you indicate.
Best explanation on how gain/expo settings affect the drone flying behavior! I learn a ton for tracking my sprint workout. Thank you.

One of the few people on YT who can make a video that is informative and engaging enough for a full watch. Good stuff, BK.

Clear and concise settings primer. Outstanding.
Happy to help!

Just got my drone, used once but need more knowledge. Great instructionional video for newbies like me, thank you. Essex UK.
Hey Billy, this is a very helpful video. I fly a lot inside, CINE mode is a must for that. Thanks!
Super useful - thanks!

Thank you Billy for this excellent tutorial video. Nicely Done👏🙏. Yes, there was a huge difference between the Go4 and Fly Apps.

Great video Billy, always interesting seeing what settings other creators use. 😉👍✌
Another beaut video Bill, thanks mate. 🇦🇺
Great info Billy! I'll be messing with my settings. Thanks
Appreciate it!
Does any of this carry over to the Avata 2 with the one hand controller? Thanks.
Awesome job! Got a video on hyper-lapse? Tried doing one for a morning sunrise and missed it by two minutes.
Hi
Can you do a video on mavic 3 video settings
Fab info & great delivery! I wasn't sure what all these settings did,,, Especially Expo!
To clarify.... Are all the "modes" just presets?
Yes, modes are basically presets. Thanks for watching!
Excellent.....thanks Billy
Thanks for this great advice!
Very clear explanation. learned a lot. some time you speak very very very fast. This was easy to fallow. Thanks for the education. Will be watching again.
Going to update my mini 3 pro and check these settings
I customize Expo settings in all of my modes. I wish there was a customize button to directly access this interface
so happy for alternatives. not a dji fan i am all autel and exo

Does the blue "Reset to Current Settings" restore it back to the original out of box default settings?
Yes
I wish the avata 2 settings were this easy on the gain and expo settings!
One of your best videos ever, can you do another with inspire 3?
YES PLEASE. Would love more content on that
Thank you! I switched it!
Billy, question? Are you getting a fly cart 30?
Love your stuff
thank u sirfor this valuable info..otherwise i would have used factory settings,,
Why can’t I set AEB as default? Every time I turn the drone on I have to make sure I select it 🤷🏼♂️
you sure got me ta thinkin.

My guess is the collision avoidance system on his Mavic 3 can function at a higher speed.
I do have a question. If you use one of the dju modes like masterstroke, quickshots. Follow me, etc.,will the expo settings affect the performance in one of those modes? Please let me know. Thank you.
Yes, I believe so

I have a Tesla with a glass roof. I can see the drone at all times. How is that BVLOS?
Thank you Bill! You gave us a very thorough and concise explanation of the control settings. Great stuff!
Billy,Billy,Billy...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 C-Mon Man.. You been flying for how long.
Good 👍 stuff
Cine should be renamed CUSTOM
Great tutorial! But you calmly explaining the drone settings while your low battery beeps, gave me anxiety attack. 😅.
I'm a little embarrassed by how long I kept saying to myself, "I wish the gimbal pitch was less sensitive!". Total facepalm when I found the setting. This is a great reference video!
Gjood work
Thanks!
Thanks Billy! ;-) T
Good video. The main setting should be to slow down your dialog and presentation! SPEAK A LITTLE MORE SLOWLY.
Hi Billy. Thanks for the inrormation. My only issue is your presentation speed. You talk way to fast for me to follow and digest your content.
1? One? Thats more than one and is covered in the manual.
Please. Who reads manuals 😂
Wee man finally grew up....
Just use BetaFlight…oh…right
That's why I've felt the Fly app sucked
Great info. Ok sizzle chest, I'll call you back when you aren't feeling so jerky. HA
First ❤
You give great information, but you speech tempo is too fast, almost as if you are running to finish a race. Take a breath …. Slow down, you are almost painful to listen to.
Dude, I like your content, but you speak way too fast! Can you slow your roll just a little?
I have to agree. Almost uncomfortable to listen to.
Agreed too!
Just learn how to play at .75 or slower on youtube.
I think Dude talks too slow so I speed him up to 1.5x
