Stop finding the perfect garage gun. My wife is gonna kill me if I keep buying paint guns 😂😂 seriously though you're videos are awesome. Keep them coming.
Love your videos brother I purchased a r500 because of you and love it more than any gun I have I’ve learned heaps watching your videos thanks a million
Very detailed and informative; thanks for posting it! I had just happened to buy one of these recently and now saw your video a few days later. (Gotta love how technology stalks a person, lol.)
I was just thinking about this, "LPLV" painting in my garage the other day. Now I know where to start looking for information if I jump into painting my RX7.
So glad to hear this!!! I bought the same gun a few weeks ago but haven’t had the chance to use it. Love the fact that it’s my fav type of lvlp but this comes with nice features like the adjustments and extra goodies. Thanks for the video! So excited to try it
Just followed based on tthis video. I love diy for everything possible and painted my mazda durin the Pandemic so I'm very interested in getting one of these guns!
Thanks I've been looking for a good quality lower cost lvlp with multiple tips. Perfect. I'm trying to cut down on overspray and air 'fog'. Hope this helps with that.
I just picked this gun up 2 weeks ago using your link I hope. I painted cars for about 8 years and was a very early adaptor of the gravity feed guns switching over from the siphon cup. The old school guys back then thought the gravity feeds were crazy. After watching my mentor use 1, I purchased it and never looked back. No LVLP back then so I'm looking forward to trying this out. Great videos!
Here too, I used a Binks model 7 only because my front door neighbor swore by these spray guns, but as soon as I saw the way these low pressure high volume spray guns worked, I was hooked and never looked back also!
Great video. I own this gun and it's the best I've ever owner. It is not a "low volume, low pressure" gun, though. It is a HIGH volume, low pressure gun (HVLP).
It is a great gun. It's definitely not an hvlp, if you compare it to an hvlp by set psi the same on both guns you quickly be able to tell it consumes a lot less air.
I bought an R500 with only a 1.7 nozzle and needle a couple months ago building supplies to start my journey. I meant to grab the kit with the other sizes but after seeing this video I’m thinking about buying this D1 kit instead. Or should I just buy another R500 with the other sizes like I meant to originally? Are the nozzles and needles interchangeable between the two? Also, thanks for your videos man. They are inspiring and very educational. You do a great job making them! Happy holidays!!
A lot of painters wouldn't even give these cheap guns the time of day ! I only have one high dollar gun and the rest are cheap guns, one of the guns I would only use it for primer, but some of the guns perform great for the price !
I dont know if it was just me but i bought some months ago the aeropro a610 and tried to use it and it hasnt enough pressure, i have a 200liter compressor and bought a different gun and it works. Maybe i just got unlucky with the aeropro a610 idk
awesome video, i have a question. in between paint coats do you leave the paint gun with the paint in it? or do you dissassmble and clean then use a clean gun and paint for the next coat?
Atomizes the clear nice, I was hoping it would live up to its name and drizzle it on for that ultimate orange peel finish. Lol. As always thanks Chris!
I think I’m going to have to pick up one of these guns. I have a 3m performance but I’m finding my compressor doesn’t have enough volume to make the gun function right. It calls for 13cfms and my compressor can only push like 11.5 at 90psi. It’s a 60 gallon single stage. I will be only spraying epoxy and high build. Are these guns good for high build with the right tip size?
@@GarageNoise It’s kind of a bummer about my 3m gun. I’m kinda new to spraying and restoring a truck in my garage and will have the truck final sprayed in a booth so only doing primer and epoxy at home. Just finding it’s really hard to regulate the pressure at the gun . Would t think a few cfms off would cause such an issue. High flow connectors and 35’ dedicated hose and my pressure on the wall has to be at a 100 psi for me to get 22nd I at gun and that’s maxing out the regulator at the gun which is a 3m regulator as well. Even replaced it and new one reads the same way. People tell me it’s the lack of volume affecting it.🤷🏻♂️
Hey Chris so I picked up the greentec gt211 to spray with this thing, I already sprayed the base and I love this gun! My question is it calls for a 2:1:1 ratio , do I need reducer? I’ve seen everyone spraying high solids with no reducer
I don't use reducer in my clear. The fc710 I use is high solids and sprays fine with no reducer. Reducer will help it to flow out, but it it flows too much then it runs.
@@GarageNoise well job came out amazing Chris thanks for the tip! I had literally just started waiting for the base to dry before clear when I thought I’d better ask Chris about this, that clear sticks like glue man, I’m in love with high solids clears now, I’ve always used medium for the job I was doing but customer wanted a decent clear, you should try it I’d love to here your opinion on it
Those air consumption number are all over the place . Know one knows the actual numbers. The manufacturer of both guns is a company called Rongpeng. You can google them. All I can honestly tell you is from my experience these gun including the R500 have the lowest air consumption. I estimate it to be around 7cfm comparing it to other guns I use.
How important is that little tiny white washer that goes on top of the hard plastic white double washer thing that goes on top of needle ? I lost mine . Is that imperative to correct operation of the gun ?
GREAT video again. Now, 🤔 "low volume low pressure" , WOULD you recommend painting a whole car with that as well? Or, MORE of a PARTS painting in the garage GUN? 🤔 TY see by
I bought the Sprayit LVLP gun from home Depot. It cost me around $40. The one thing that bothered me was that it is a mini. I can't find an adapter for the universal cups. Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
@@GarageNoise the part that is threaded into the knob.the metal breakes and threaded part is left in knob,I took the valve out replaced the knob and it seems to work, haven't sprayed anything yet with it.
Cuz, IT WORKS 🤓(obviously) ...NOT wantin to come off TOO, sarcastic but...Heck yeah! I'm old school, sprayed 40-45 psi (on overalls) with siphon feed for years... Switched to the gravity/HVLP etc. later and? ALWAYS use 25-30 plus psi (when shooting overalls)... Some guys are like you, "Turn the pressure DOWN bro" 👇 and? When I am finished? ...Proof is in the pudding 😏 (EVERYONE has their own ways) 👍 Happy Restoring and Cruizin 😎🤘🔥🤘
@@kylie5172 Yes the specs from the seller will say that. If you look at the specs from the manufacturer Rong peng it says 3.5 to 3.9 I don't believe it's that low but I know if your compressor produces 6cfm of air or more it's enough for this gun. I've seen whole cars sprayed with a harbour freight 20gallon compressor. This gun is the R830 specifically made by Rong peng. It's hard to get a definite answer on air consumption.
If I plug my R500 directly into my 5.7 fad compressor set at 40psi and the gun wide open it runs the compressor down . I’m about to upgrade to a 10.7 fad SIP silent compressor will do the same experiment with this gun and my FLG 5 before I buy it. I’m only a hobbyists but like all the gear.
Hi Chris, great video mate but I have to say you don't sound to good so I hope you soon feel better🤞 There seems to be a lot of different versions of the R500 I have the Rongpeng one which is chrome with Rongpeng on the handle I also got all the different tip sizes which I think was 4 or 5 different tips, aircaps and needles. It's a really nice gun and lays basecoat very well but for me I find it doesn't lay clearcoat as well as the Astro🤔👍 You did a great job on the bumper and fender though as the finish looks nice and glassy🙏👍John UK

I am New to this.
After painting the base coat, how long do you have to wait before painting the clear coat?
15-20 minutes
@@GarageNoise got it. So beyond the 15-20 minutes, no need to let anything cure for extra time.

Question did you spray base on the area that did need paint on the far right or did you blend that area ?
My Drizzle has a very small spray pattern on the wide-open setting, 5 inches max. Is that normal?
How easy is it to clean this gun?
Why 25 to 30psi on a lvlp gun. Can you explain why not lower pressure like 15 to 18psi please.

I like that color, what is it?
Great videos! What compressor do you use?
I use a large ingersoll Rand. Im not concerned with air consumption I have plenty of air but overspray and material saving is why I perfer this gun.
Also do you sand the base before you apply clear ?
No, no need to sand base before clear. You can lighty sand and trash out but you need to apply more base before clear coating.
What grit sanding would you recommend to do that and would it be dry sanding ?
@@pcdetail602 yes dry sand. I use 6 or 800
